Friendly staff on a personal level, but overall a frustrating and poorly managed stay that did not feel relaxing or worth the price.
Despite booking a Classic Double Room with a balcony more than three months in advance, I was told on arrival that I was being “upgraded” to a ground-floor room. I specifically avoid ground-floor rooms, and a ground-level “balcony” is essentially a garden space, not what most guests would reasonably expect or what I booked.
What followed was nearly an hour-long discussion with staff, during which I was repeatedly told to “trust them” that no other rooms were available in the hotel. Eventually, I was offered a different room overlooking train tracks, with noticeable noise, and informed that if anything else became available, I could move after the first night of my three-night stay. Being asked to repack and change rooms mid-stay is not a reasonable solution and further undermined the experience.
Although the hotel presents itself as a spa hotel, the experience felt poorly thought through. Slippers were provided, but they were DIY one-size and impractical, leaving guests walking through common areas and to the spa without proper footwear (mind you, the spa was in another building across the road). In addition, there were no toiletries or basic amenities one would normally expect in a spa-focused hotel. Even basic in-room comforts were lacking, such as no working internet connection on the TV, limiting its use entirely.
The food was another major letdown. Portions were shockingly small; two small pieces of chicken served as a main course. At that point, after already spending so much time arguing about the room, I was simply too tired to complain again. For a ski hotel at this price point, this felt completely inappropriate.
While the staff were polite and welcoming on a personal level, nothing about the stay felt exceptional or particularly relaxing. Combined with the room allocation issues, prolonged arguments, lack of guidance, and underwhelming food, the experience felt closer to staying in a hostel than a hotel positioning itself as a spa retreat.
The skiing nearby was excellent, but unfortunately the hotel itself significantly detracted from the overall experience.
