Lykke Chamonix | Best places to stay in Chamonix

"Located close to the railway station and within easy walking distance of Chamonix centre, the Lykke also feels within touching distance of Mont Blanc and the spiky Aiguille du Midi cable car, which is just across the road. One nice touch is that all rooms have a balcony with mountain views – for the best mountain panoramas go for one of the suites, which have views of Mont Blanc. A short, easy walk along the town’s main shopping streets takes you into the centre of Chamonix, with plenty of options for window shopping and coffee stops along the way. It may not have the atmosphere of more traditional Alpine hotels, but if you’re looking to be mostly out and about from an affordable, central stay, this is the one. " - Nicola Iseard

On the whole, great hotel and would recommend. Great location.|Breakfast good - the usual selection with excellent croissants! (If you like your ‘English breakfast tea’ - bring your own!) Would have been nice if tables were set up outside, as this would have been cooler. |In the main, staff friendly and helpful. (Although a few curt responses to requests at breakfast time!) |Room was comfortable. We had superior room with balcony, which was absolutely fine for the two of us, but I think would have been a squeeze if 3 adults or 2 adults +2 kids. The balcony was very small - just space for 2 chairs. But there is no air con! We went mid June and temperatures were around 28c - it was bearable but would not recommend this hotel in July/Aug. Also we missed not having a fridge in the room. |We were given reusable water bottles and could top up from the water coolers throughout hotel - nice touch. |Spa good - (although was across the road -hadn’t realised hotel split across 2 sites) was perfect after a days walking, with comfortable loungers on the sun terrace.

My experience at this hotel is positive. I appreciate a lot of space for the clothes. Extra warm blanket, pillows, bathrobe, and slippers. The spa was nice, even if the sauna wasn’t hot enough (we kept pouring water), the jacuzzi was always crowded. I appreciate swimming pool, outdoor and indoor seat's, good for relaxation. The only minus was that some women went in the swimming pool with long hair not attached. Nobody wants to swim with somebody hair around. My suggestion is to put everywhere signs about personal hygiene before going to the spa (especially pool). Our room was a bit dark, but it had heater and bed was very comfortable. Breakfast is a bit expensive for what it is (22€/person). A lot of people like to eat protein for the breakfast, not pastries.

Good location, Spa excellent. Restaurant not open 'do not have the staff'!? No aircon |Liked · Location was excellent as was the spa. Breakfast was good and the room very clean, but bed and pillows average||Disliked · There was no air conditioning. When asked, staff simply said that 'they just don't have it, but you can have a fan if you want'. We asked for it to be brought to our room, but several hours later, it had still not arrived. Collected it ourselves. Old fan very noisy. For this class of hotel, air con should be standard. No restaurant, and told we could not have breakfast outside even though hot in the morning - we had to insist, this should not have happened

The Hotel was really beautiful. The room we stayed in is one of the biggest that I have seen throughout my 4 years of travel in Europe. (large bedroom, closet and washroom, 2 balconies). The location is very beautiful, which has good views of the valley and in walking distance from all the tourist places. The breakfast way good, though the options seemed limited for a buffet.

We arrived late on a Thursday and the reception staff were incredible, had us checked in, gave us a personal bottle of water and checked us in, recommended us towards the only food place open too. The hotel facilities were brilliant, the spa is gorgeous, relaxing, plenty of facilities - sauna, steam room, 2 hot tubs and big pool. The rooms were gorgeous, our view from the hotel was incredible, clear view of Mont Blanc. Overall, perfect holiday and perfect hotel. Would definitely stay again!

Nice accommodation just outside old town. Loved the spa, sauna amenities. Parking overnight at 30€ is a little steep but you can park next door for 19€ for 24h. The hotel was nice enough to let us move our car before dark so we weren't charged overnight fees

Beautiful room with a splendid view on the mountains. I liked the decoration and the quality of the room. The room was clean and spacious. The spa is a plus when there are not too much people. The location is great and next to the center and all activities. Just a bit disappointed by the breakfast. Not a lot of choice and i really didn't liked the scambled eggs they lacked of taste and were a bit too compact but you will probably find something else at your taste. The teas, fresh juices and pastries were good.

Disappointing Experience at Lykke Hôtel I recently stayed at this hotel in Chamonix with my girlfriend. I was extremely disappointed (regarding price-performance). The rooms have very low ceilings, which is a problem especially in the gym if you want to run on the treadmill on rainy days. The sauna is very small and takes forever to heat up and it only reaches 80 degrees. For wanting to represent a skandinavian hotel very disappointing. On the day of our arrival we ordered an overpriced fruit plate (10 euros) that looked very loveless. On the next day we decided to cancel our cake we ordered for the next day, but they told us it was already made (a day before) and disregarded our request to bring us the cake the day after tomorrow. The location was the only redeeming factor. But also if you look for a quiet place to relax don’t choose Lykke, because it’s right next to an Area where they play loud music (2 times during our 5 night stay. I would not recommend this hotel to anyone looking for a pleasant stay in Chamonix. Very overpriced hotel and more show than substance.
