Lykke Chamonix | Best places to stay in Chamonix

"Located close to the railway station and within easy walking distance of Chamonix centre, the Lykke also feels within touching distance of Mont Blanc and the spiky Aiguille du Midi cable car, which is just across the road. One nice touch is that all rooms have a balcony with mountain views – for the best mountain panoramas go for one of the suites, which have views of Mont Blanc. A short, easy walk along the town’s main shopping streets takes you into the centre of Chamonix, with plenty of options for window shopping and coffee stops along the way. It may not have the atmosphere of more traditional Alpine hotels, but if you’re looking to be mostly out and about from an affordable, central stay, this is the one. " - Nicola Iseard

On the whole, great hotel and would recommend. Great location.|Breakfast good - the usual selection with excellent croissants! (If you like your ‘English breakfast tea’ - bring your own!) Would have been nice if tables were set up outside, as this would have been cooler. |In the main, staff friendly and helpful. (Although a few curt responses to requests at breakfast time!) |Room was comfortable. We had superior room with balcony, which was absolutely fine for the two of us, but I think would have been a squeeze if 3 adults or 2 adults +2 kids. The balcony was very small - just space for 2 chairs. But there is no air con! We went mid June and temperatures were around 28c - it was bearable but would not recommend this hotel in July/Aug. Also we missed not having a fridge in the room. |We were given reusable water bottles and could top up from the water coolers throughout hotel - nice touch. |Spa good - (although was across the road -hadn’t realised hotel split across 2 sites) was perfect after a days walking, with comfortable loungers on the sun terrace.

We loved our stay at Lykke. The location provides perfect access to everything in town and our room was comfortable with great views. The pool and spa area was particularly relaxing. Our only challenge was that the spa was booked out through our whole trip (at any time that wasn’t in the middle of the day), so if you want a massage, consider booking that well ahead of time. Even still, the staff was helpful in finding us an alternative in town. Would 100% return!

The only sad part about our stay was having to leave. This hotel is exceptional in every way. The check on was personal, thorough and welcoming. The room is beautiful, spa house, with a balcony, great shower (no bath), TV and the bed is so comfortable. Black out blinds. There is a radiator heater in the room for the colder days which we used a bit in September as nights got cold. Very quiet with the window and balcony door closed. Very peacefuland great decor around the hotelnwith fairy lights and imitationcandles everywhere. The spa is outstanding and it is INCLUDED for hotel guests which makes the hotel a bargain. Robes, spa towels and flip flops are provided in your room for the spa so you can just wander back to your room in your robe. Spa was open 9am to 8pm so plenty of time to go for a few hours after a hard hike. There is a very hot steam room, an outdoor wooden sauna and a pool. I must admit the indoor and outdoor hot tub are warm, not hot, but we weren't bothered with those anyway. There are loads of relaxing loungers and egg chairs in there. It was our firat holiday in 10 years without kids and this hotel was really, really worth it for us. Even the coffee in the room was great and the room housekeeping service left your room looking like they genuinely cared about their work. We didn't have breakfast as it was €22pp and we get coffee and a pastry on town for €6 each but that's just our preference not to splash out on that meal, im sure that's good value too, if you choose it. I love this place and we will come back to this hotel every time. Thank you hotel Lykke.

I enjoyed my visit. The breakfast was superb with many many choices. The spa was also a nice place to relax at the end of the day. I only gave it a nine out of 10 because I had to keep getting them to fix my key card it stopped working four times. It was a minor inconvenience as it was fixed quickly each time. The staff at the desk were very friendly and polite.

My experience at this hotel is positive. I appreciate a lot of space for the clothes. Extra warm blanket, pillows, bathrobe, and slippers. The spa was nice, even if the sauna wasn’t hot enough (we kept pouring water), the jacuzzi was always crowded. I appreciate swimming pool, outdoor and indoor seat's, good for relaxation. The only minus was that some women went in the swimming pool with long hair not attached. Nobody wants to swim with somebody hair around. My suggestion is to put everywhere signs about personal hygiene before going to the spa (especially pool). Our room was a bit dark, but it had heater and bed was very comfortable. Breakfast is a bit expensive for what it is (22€/person). A lot of people like to eat protein for the breakfast, not pastries.

This hotel has a great central location, walking distance to bars, restaurants, SPAR grocery store and most importantly to train station, Montenverse train and Aiguille du Midi gondola station. The hotel has very nice lobby and restaurant area, although the spa could use a slight upgrade. Wifi works great in the hotel but not in the pool and spa area. Great views of the mountains from the rooms!

The Hotel was really beautiful. The room we stayed in is one of the biggest that I have seen throughout my 4 years of travel in Europe. (large bedroom, closet and washroom, 2 balconies). The location is very beautiful, which has good views of the valley and in walking distance from all the tourist places. The breakfast way good, though the options seemed limited for a buffet.

Not really a pleasant stay,we stayed end of September for 2 nights, outside temperature at night 3-5 C but heater and Aircon not working you feel constantly cold, they offered us a heater for the 2nd day but with the size of the room you don't want more stuff. No drinking water or fridge in the room, instead there is carafe where you can get drinking water.Breakfastroom cold too,if you complain they telling you to wear jacket for breakfast. Most of the hotel staff are younger and trying to be friendly I'm not sure this matches with the needs of a 4* star hotel. The reception staff were ok.The breakfast is great ,the room has a great views on the mountains. The location is good too 5-6 min walk to the city.Eco style is good but if the paying customer has to suffer maybe it's time for some changes.
