The best Michelin star in Edinburgh. I have been a fan of Stuart Ralston since Aizle opened in 2015. A decade later, its lovely to see how his creations and food have evolved. Upon arrival you are ushered upstairs to the Y-shaped bar, order a drink from the menu, and relax with the first 3 courses of snacks. After that back downstairs and into the dinning room. Every table was full the night we visited, and I'm not too surprised. The quality of the menu and food was excellent. Far above the several sub-par stars in Edinburgh that we have tried. The next 3 courses featured seafood heavily and felt light and fresh without excess salty or any fishiness. The bread course is good, followed by an excellent meat course, then on to cheese and desserts. The only faults I can say for the evening are small and cosmetic. For instance, most of the courses come with an excellent sauce or jus. But never a spoon or any bread. There is a hint the menu is to be enjoyed, but without thinking how to do so fully. But! When asked the attentive and lovely staff produced another bread course for me to soak up the venison jus. The staff were all friendly, professional and helpful, without being superior or standoffish, which is a tricky balance in any starred restaurant. Overall the experience was excellent, the under consideration of those who want to clean their plate aside, we shall definitely be back. Hopefully you don't enjoy yourself so much you forget something you came with!
