Lyman's Tavern

I want to write a five star review for Lyaman's Tavern in Washington D.C. in the style of anyhony bourdain. This was just the bar I was looking for. A small hole in the wall just outside the confines of D.C. a place my friend and I chose to hide our faces for a short time while we gathered our thoughts from two days at the state captiol. We wanted a few Red Bulls and Vodkas but red bull wasn't on the minue. The bartender did her majic and made sure that we got what we needed. Shots of vodka were tall and the people minded their own business. This is a local spot full of pinball arcades and things that remind you of a simpler time. The clinentel is standard young crowd and it is LGBT friendly, if that is something that you are looking for. Parking was easiy to fiend because this little gem is tucked away into a small neihborhood. Lyaman's Tavern, a hidden gem nestled just outside the buzz of Washington D.C., is the kind of place that sneaks up on you and refuses to let go. My friend and I, weary from two intense days at the state capitol, found solace in its unassuming embrace—a nondescript hole in the wall where the mundane fades into the background and the extraordinary takes center stage. This is no ordinary watering hole. It's a portal to a simpler time, where pinball arcades stand as sentinels of nostalgia, and the patrons understand the art of minding their own business. The bartender, a master of her craft, conjured magic in the absence of Red Bull, serving tall shots of vodka that hit the mark with surgical precision. Lyaman's caters to a diverse and vibrant crowd, including the LGBT community, ensuring that everyone feels welcome. Its tucked-away location in a quaint neighborhood offers easy parking, making it a convenient escape from the city's relentless pace. I was visiting dc and I love pinball, so I had to check this bar out. I had a great time here. The food is delicious and reasonably priced. So are the drinks. The bartenders were very friendly. The highlight was the pinball. There was a great selection of well maintained machines. If I lived in DC I would come here all the time.

Can't remember the last bar I went to without any tvs, very refreshing. Great spot to grab a beer and chat. Place was busy and music wasn't too loud. Lots of jackalope decor and pinball machines. Min $10 credit card limit, so bring cash or open a tab (or buy rounds for your friends)!

Great chill vibes and really good food, served late (until 12am!) The woman behind the bar was super nice and gave a helpful food rec (I had sliders which were very tasty). Perfect low key divey hang. 10/10 would come back when I'm in the area and definitely recommend.

If I were to distill my love of this neighborhood, Lyman's encapsulates the spirit of so much of it. Chill but occasionally chaotic good, an actual sense of community facilitated by the friendliness & welcoming energy of its workers & regulars, a no-frills aesthetic & vibe that lends itself to being a true dive bar, & unapologetic in acting as a hub for radical organizing & leftist community events.

This place is the best - a true bar. Great selection of pinball machines, which are maintained well. Offers reasonably priced beers, ranging from craft brews to $3 Hamm's cans. Tried the hot dogs on pretzel buns as well - awesome. Cool clientele and very laid back vibes...haven't been to a better bar in DC.

I can't believe I just discovered this neighborhood dive bar. The sliders are amazing! My favorite is the Chili Cheese sliders (not spicy to me, but full of flavor), the bartender was kind and friendly. Brought the kids here to play pinball machines, they loved the food and the games. Definitely come back again!!

A cool dive bar with an exhaustive selection of beers in cans, bottles and on draft. I think the ambiance is fun with a bunch of pinball machines to play on as well as arcade games. Prices were reasonable and it had a laid back environment.
