All the Best Places to Eat Around the Minneapolis/St. Paul Airport

"Have a four-hour layover at MSP? Lyn 65 might be the perfect place to escape from the confines of the terminal for a bit and enjoy a great meal and a couple drinks among seemingly gastronomy savvy locals. Greatest hits include their signature fried chicken and Lyn 65 cheeseburger, which both pair nicely with one of the many house craft cocktails." - Will Simons

This is a small bar/Restaurant inside the 4 Points by Sheraton hotel. The food is good, the drinks are flowing, they have happy hour and specials and complimentary salty snacks, but what makes this bar is Xander. He's the manager/bartender/waiter/good vibe setter. He doesn't make every guest feel just welcome, but engaged and comfortable and excited to be there! He hustles and despite his lack of any other help, can maintain a bar and dining room single handedly, without a single guest feeling even slightly neglected. They are so lucky to have him. Any guest that walks up to the bar and is offered a drink and a salty snack by Xander (as he does with all patrons) will be far more likely to return and stay at the hotel again and again. He makes this bar and hotel a lot of money.

I eat Keto so I got a house salad and pulled pork. I asked for no BBQ sauce and they were very accommodating. Service was excellent.

It was absolutely TERRIBLE! There was literally no one else in the restaurant (should have been red flag #1). Then we sat by the kitchen area and LITERALLY watched our food come out of a bag and cooked in a damn microwave. And the prices were INSANE! My meal was $20, my husband's meal was $25, and my son's meal was $17! And to top it off, it was my husband's birthday! The only one who cared was the bartender who served us. It was not a good experience and way too overpriced for the lack of quality of food! Very disappointing. I would never recommend to eat here. They ought to be ashamed of themselves.

Don't know, the menu was not the same as what was in a picture online. The waitress had no clue when it was changed. She was a good sport after we looked at the menu they offered and decided to go elsewhere. The menu was a third the size of what was online. The burgers were closed to twenty dollars. So we decided to go to an Asian buffet

Couldn't get served. They didn't even acknowledge my presence. I was one of only 3 people in the joint, including the bartender. Thought maybe it was only for hotel guests. Just left after a few minutes of them laughing and ignoring me.

They rolled out a new menu this week and I feel very lucky to be the first customer to have the Lobster and Shrimp Ravioli it was fabulous. The chard sweet corn, red peeper sauce the lobster tail pieces and ravioli were delicious. Additionally we started with the cheese curds, being from Minnesota I have tried many that claimed to be the best. These are the best. My husband was just as pleased with his meal of pulled pork and two wild game sausages. He had elk and bison and loved both. This was the best meal we've had in a very long time. WE would recommend them to anyone. Don't overlook this place because it is in a hotel, it is worth the time to experience this food!

Google
The name 'Smokehouse' is pretty misleading, it's a small restaurant attached to the hotel which does some general Americana food. Nothing I would really say justifies the smokehouse name. Services the hotel crowd well, but as they only had 1 chef on staff it took excessively long to get our food for 4. The food was not bad, it was ok. But the fact that one was expecting a smokehouse and it was not lead to a bit of bad expectations. I was hoping for smoked ribs/brisket/chicken/etc, alas there is none to be found. I would recommend staying away unless you are a hotel guest, if they cook for one I bet it comes out fairly quickly and is fine to get you through the day.

Pulled pork BBQ sandwich was really good. Service was spectacular, server was also the bartender managed to cover almost a full bar counter as well as our table. Superhuman!

Yelp
Great service and good food. We are staying at the hotel (Four Points) that is connected to this restaurant. So far (day 1) we've eaten breakfast and dinner here. Both were really good. The Four Points Breakfast was satisfying. But the Wednesday BBQ and Brews was incredible. The ribs = awesome. The kids loved the pulled pork, cole slaw, and chicken nuggets.

Yelp
My wife and I were looking for a date night place to eat on a recent Friday night and came across the Lyndale Smokehouse. We had a coupon to use and the menu online looked good so we decided to give them a shot. Honestly, hotel restaurants can be hit or miss. Some of our favorite restaurants in the Twin Cities are found in hotels so we decided to take the gamble. The interior is very modern and tucked into a small corner of the lobby. The restaurant has a full bar at the front with the seating for eating behind it. We waited for a little bit to sit down and noticed there was only one guy rushing around the tables. We finally just grabbed some menus and sat down. We soon realized that this poor guy was the only one taking care of the whole place including bar tending, cleaning tables, taking orders, and working back of house. Props to this guy, there was easily six tables and another eight people at the bar and he was juggling ALL of it. So once again, no bad mojo to this guy, he was busting his tail and deserves some crazy praise for doing the best he could. With that being said though it left a lot of things not really getting done. No refills on water, I had to ask to borrow ketchup from another table, etc. There was a taller guy who kept walking over from the hotel reception desk and we thought he would help the poor guy but never lifted a finger. It seemed like he was just checking up on the guy, seriously dude grab a pitcher of water and bust some tables for this poor waiter! Anyways, when it came time to order we were told that the menu listed online is not up-to-date and that the menu had been revamped. That basically meant we had the option of two sandwiches (burger or Reuben) a few appetizers, a few rotating entrees depending on which day it was, and a couple of soups. OK, bummer. I decided to go with the Reuben with a side of sweet potato fries and my wife ordered the Spinach Dip and a side of Chili. OK, now we were committed, we had no clue what to expect for food quality. And surprisingly it wasn't bad. My Rueben, albeit not the best I have ever had, was decent and the sweet potato fries were tasty and came as a large side order. My wife's Spinach Dip was great and was served warm (I think it was supposed to be cold which I actually do not like, so win here) with baguette bread. My wife said she really enjoyed her Chili as well. So food was actually pretty good. So if you don't mind the limited menu and are OK with service taking a little longer (we were on a date night so we were in no rush) this place isn't half bad. Seriously though Lyndale, hire someone else to help out you staff. No one person should have to juggle all of that!

Yelp
Stopped in for drinks and a bite after a long day and before, what we hope will be, a fabulous night of rest! Ordered the smokehouse bloody mary - out of mix, bummer, but these things happen. On to the Hendricks martini, no cucumbers : / but it was strong and the server made sure the glass was chilled while she mixed... I was happy- sweet potato poutine was good, came out quickly and hot, but. no scallions - and 2 beers on tap that were very satisfying. 3 stars is for missing components, with understanding that this gal is slammed. I'm getting dizzy watching her run tables and the bar. I am impressed and service is still very on point... rest easy mi'lady, you only have 15min left! You've got this!!

Yelp
Tried both breakfast and dinner here while staying in the hotel. Breakfast is priced very reasonably ($8 or so for a basic eggs or omelet plate) but the buffet, at $10 for Starwood Preferred Guests members, is a bargain. Tasty, not-too-oily sausage and nicely crisped bacon for the meats, breakfast quesadilla, omelet made to order, waffles, fruit, cereal, oatmeal, and more. Try a little of everything and get seconds of the best stuff. Well worth the price. Had fish and chips for dinner. The fish came as a single battered and deep-fried filet. It was a little overbrowned (not always a bad thing in my book) and the fish was still moist inside (the main thing). There was a nice contrast between the moist, tender fish inside and the very crisped crust. Service is only ok. The restaurant isn't terribly big but is still too big for one poor server to cover all by him/herself. So don't be in too much of a hurry for the check or drink refills.

Yelp
Terrible, the only good thing was how honest our server was... apparently the menu changed not too long ago and they went from home-made to out of a box or a can. They only have 6 entrees on their menu, out of which 2 were unavailable the night we visited, as well as three other appetizers. You're better off eating somewhere else.

Yelp
The server left to eat her supper after I ordered so I had to wait for her to return to get a glass of wine. They Compt it , yes! Just a caution after happy hour is over make sure you keep it simple.

Yelp
Very rude and loud bartender, hostess. Ate here once, food was decent. Tried to come back she was so rude we turned right around and left. Boring atmosphere but hey its Richfield and in a hotel.

Yelp
Very good breakfast buffet. $11 but if you join the hotels SPG free member program at the front desk the buffet immediately drops to $8.25. It took about 3 minutes to sign up. The buffet included great bacon, sausage links, kinda dry Belgium waffles, oatmeal, fresh fruit, bakery blueberry and chocolate chip muffins. Juices, good coffee, good omelette bar, and very good breakfast quesadillas, cereal etc. Service was friendly, but spotty. Complementary USA today, star tribune, and wall st journal if you ask at the front desk. Great place to stop on the way to the airport.

Yelp
This place was never fantastic but seems to have gotten worse with time. Frozen pizzas, bland breakfast buffer. Unless you are staying in the hotel it's definitely not worth the trip; and for that matter I'd venture out even if staying there.

Yelp
I was disappointed to find out this is located in a hotel. Personally it shouldn't be on yelp as I can't imagine people around town driving to eat here - leave it for the hotel guests. I was in town for business and searched yelp for some nice mom and pop breakfast locations to eat at before the 11am flight. Chose this, ironically left my hotel across town and ended up here at another hotel (ugh). Showed up and it's a decent hotel and crappy staff running the restaurant. I wanted to leave but couldn't because of timing so I settled for an omelette that was not very good. Came served with undercooked potatoes on the side. Please go somewhere else if your considering this location.

Yelp
Breakfast was disappointing but inexpensive. All the raw ingredients seemed right, but rookie kitchen mistakes like overcooking everything made our items unappetizing. We ordered waffles overcooked to the point of being crumbly dry. My Benedict was great, except for the poached eggs poached until yolk was rock hard. Caprese omlet was okay. We would have had breakfast here twice during our stay, but once was more than enough.

Yelp
Excellent breakfast. This is part of a hotel. Beats the pants off your typical continental breakfast. The chef pictured in the Yelp photos was here. He was super nice and so was my waitress. The omelette station was great. Super fresh selection of fruit too which always impresses. The staff seemed genuinely happy which is a great sign. I'm only giving four because I haven't tried dinner. If I stay another night I definitely will eat here for dinner.

Yelp
Waiter was very personable (he's also the head chef). The food was great. I had a Reuben and it was literally the best I've ever had ! Hardly anyone there on a weekday lunch hour so I'm Definately coming back to try the rest of the menu

Yelp
Restaurant with full bar, attached to Sheridan Four Points Hotel. Great food and a nice place to meet up with friends.

Yelp
I recently went here for lunch and have nothing but nice things to say about this restaurant and bar! Their menu is huge and has a wide variety of items, even vegetarian friendly options which I was not expecting. The food was delicious as well, I ordered a veggie sandwich on my visit and the portions sizes were huge and the prices were very reasonable. I also had desert on my visit, a piece of triple chocolate cake and my mouth is watering just thinking about it. The service was also exceptional, the chef even came out to our table to make sure everything was great. I highly recommend checking this place out.

Yelp
Went off-menu and ordered 1 each of the three game sausages (duck, bison & elk). Each was very good, although the bison was a bit "drier" than expected. Sweet potato fries with a side of BBQ sauce for dipping was a nice contrast (not into ketchup), nice selection of beers.

Yelp
What a wonderful surprise this restaurant is! It may be in a hotel but Chef Nate's menu is a good as any fine dining restaurant. We started with lightly breaded beer battered cheese curds that were delicious. For entrees the beef stroganoff is flavorful and not heavy. The star of the menu is anything that they make in their smoker. Our favorite were the BBQ ribs. Tender, not heavy on sauce and at $16 a half rack, they are the best deal in town. It's a cozy, nice dining room with an open kitchen so you can watch the chef's at work. A hidden gem for people who love good food!

Wendy L.

Yelp
Well I would not give it 4 plus stars! They were out avocado and the fryer wasn't working. Sunday night no one here. My beef stroganoff was mostly gristle and my friend had vegetables that were hard . One person at bar, and waitresses!

Andrew B.

Yelp
Delicious food! I ordered the Smokehouse Cuban and it was great. They make their pickles in-house and they are very good!!
