Yelp
Brah, I ain't gonna lie to ya...........if ya looking for old skool local style comfort grindz, this hole-in-da-wall joint called - M & M B-B-Q is da place!!!!
Thanks to my Yelp buddies - Rod U., Emi H., Clay Y., Scott B., & Eric M. for posting their wonderful reviews and pics, but what really put me over the edge about this place was seeing Clay Y.'s pics of his mini fried chicken plate!!!!
Then, when I read Bruddah Rod U.'s review...........I really liked the things he said about this place..........and I quote him -
1. "25 years and still going strong!"
Dat means this place is legit for local grindz!!!
2. "Small and nondescript with just three booths. Takeout is their main business."
Dat means this place is truly a small mom & pops joint............although the restaurant is small, they do have a few booths, as well as tables & chairs inside of the restaurant.
The restaurant is clean, so no worry about this hole-in-da-wall joint.
3. "Incredibly friendly mom and pop service."
Yes indeed! I experienced this last night when I wen' get some grindz with my friend!
4. "Dirt cheap. Prices from 10 years ago. Around $5.50 for a mini, $8.00 for a regular, $8.70 for a three item BBQ mix."
Bruddah Rod was spot on about that!!! Although Bruddah Rod's Pimp Hand is STRONG (as I see him eat at a lot of High End joints), he can get down ghetto wid' da best of them yo! Lol!
5. "Choke food. Kanak attack! You've been warned."
Brah, they sure gave a lot of GRINDZ!! But as a PROFESSIONAL Frrrrrrrried Chicken Eater...........I wen' lick & polish dat plate off and I neva get da Kanak Attack! Handle, Randal!!!!
6. "The flavor, old school."
Das what Bruddah Fran truly loves.............Local Grindz, Old Skool, cuz I grew up eating like this, and I one old fut! Lol!
So I drove from town all the way to Aiea to check out M & M B-B-Q, and I must tell you it was worth da trek.........no regrets!
Upon walking into the restaurant, we were greeted right away, and to be honest I didn't even bother to look at the menu because after I saw Clay Y.'s pics of the Fried Chicken plate, I knew I had to give this dish a try.
As for my friend, he decided to get the Garlic Chicken plate.
What can I say about da Grindz?????
Are you Kiddin' me????? Did ya see my plate?????? DAS WHAT I'M TALKIN' ABOUT!!!!!
I got 3 HUGE butterfly (bone-in thigh) pieces of deep fried chicken, fried to perfection!!!
My fried chicken came out piping hot, & the marinade was delicious!!!! With my plate lunch I got two scoops white rice, & one scoop mac salad.
As for my friend, his Garlic Chicken plate was MASSIVE too! The Garlic Chicken was cut up in bite sized pieces, accompanied by two scoops white rice, & one scoop mac salad. The Garlic Chicken had very nice garlicky taste (I tried a piece from my friend).
Overall, a very cool mom & pops local diner! Be ready to eat when you come here!
Awesome prices..........and generous portions!!!!
I'll be back again real soon should I be in the area!
