I have been going to M Salon for years- love the friendliness of the salon, cleanliness, professionalism of the owner, Michelle. I have had color from all colorists- quality products, listen well, and can't think of a time I've been dissatisfied. Likewise, I've had blow-outs from most, and my hair always looks great. Love this place!!

This review is about my haircut and the stylist who cut it. I found the stylist to be unwelcoming and lacked a proper consultation. I feel my hair was hacked off. It seems very choppy, no softness. Additionally, the stylist began talking about politics, unsubtly revealing her views, which made me very uncomfortable. I was trying this salon as it was closer to my home but after this experience I will continue to drive to the city to get my haircut. I am upset that I paid $100 for a bad haircut and now have to pay an addition $125 to get it fixed from my stylist in the city. The salon itself seems dated and I feel the staff could benefit from continued education to stay up to date on current consultation practices, hair techniques, and etiquette.

My favorite salon ever. Love the work the stylists do. I have been with Michelle for over 10 years which is something because before I found M salon I changed salons almost yearly. The other stylists that work there are terrific. For hair color, I have gone to Sana for years and adore her. M Salon handled COVID extremely professionally. I always feel safe whenever I go in there. Also, the stylists, colorists, receptionists, manicurists really seem to love working there which is very unique for any salon. In the 10 years that I’ve been going there Michelle and Natasha(the owners) have been able to keep their staff happy. There has never been any drama in this salon that I as a customer ever picked up on which is highly unusual from other salons, I’ve been to in the past. You will have a wonderful experience if you make an appointment at this salon. The receptionists are really kind too! First impressions matter!

So much faster than my typical balayage and SO MUCH BETTER TOO! Wish they had a website, no idea how enough people find out about them without one. Sam did a great job on my highlights!

Me and my mom come here very often wether it’s for highlites or just hair cuts! We live it here everyone is very nice!

So I went in to do a color correction and my hair stylist did a wonderful job! Samantha is knowledgeable of the color correct and process and was able to accommodate me in such short notice! She saved my hair from a previous disaster . I will post before and after photos. I recommend the salon as well as Samantha!!

I started going here about 4 months ago after having my hair messed up by a different salon. My girlfriend recommended Tracey. She is Superb! We connected right off the bat. She listens and gives options. Answers your questions honestly. Wants you to be totally happy when you leave. If you aren't 100% happy she will fix it. I am a red head which is a challenging color to work with but Tracey was up for the challenge with a smile on her face. Very professional with a great sense of humor. I found "My Gal"!!! I also am very picky so if she can make me happy she can do anyone!!

I have lived in the North Shore for 12 years and have been in search of a great place to get a haircut. This is not it. I did go here for a couple of years but only because it was the best of the worst that I could find. This last time was awful. The cut which was supposed to be long blended layers ended up being two distinct layers that looked stupid AND I had asked for the stylist to only take off the dead ends. We agreed on an inch to inch and a half, she took over three inches. I was so annoyed! It will take a year for it grow back! I don't want to ruin anyone's career so I won't provide her name but I would look elsewhere for a good stylist.

Good location, bad service my friend received a couple of treatments and both were bad, at first we thought that maybe they deserved a second chance but it was worse yet anyway In the end they lose a client and I will talk to anyone who knows about how they treated us

I'm not a frequent visitor to salons of this caliber, but with the somewhat complicated nature of the dimensional balayage color I wanted, I was ECSTATIC to learn there was an opening at M Salon while I was IN Chicago for the week! Sam was my primary colorist for the day. I'd sent images of my hair & screenshots of the look I wanted & it was clear that Sam had put thought & effort into preparing the best method for my color well before I arrived! It was a welcoming & pleasant experience to be in her chair & I appreciated very much that, at one point when we were using different terminology for the same thing, she took time to communicate with me & make sure we both understood what the goal was - so refreshing as I've had some stylists/colorist have a confused look on their face after a consultation, but plunge ahead anyway assuming they know what I mean. You can see the collage image in the picture. Unfortunately my phone camera doesn't capture any of the many dimensions of color, so it looks more like ombre, but believe me it's quite exact to the look I was going for! (&, let's face it, my opinion is the only one that really counts in the whole process, right? ;) haha) Needless to say, short of holding a puppy while I was in the chair, I could not have asked for a better experience!! ;D Thank you to Tracey & Sam & Lucy & Michelle for making this possible & going above & beyond! See anyone at M for an exceptional salon experience!

Was visiting Chicago and needed make up for a family event. Angelika was awesome! Very knowledgable and great make up artist. She made me look like a movie star. Thank you

The only reason I went to M Salon was because one of my best friends was getting married and one of the bridesmaids could get us a good deal from M Salon. Okay, awesome I thought, anything for a deal! She said that a basic updo is $50 to $65 depending on what we have done. Not too bad, considering at my regular salon I pay $60 for an updo. The salon itself is really pretty and open but we went on a Friday morning and they were packed! There was a bridal group before us which delayed us getting done which ticked off the bride a little. My hair stylist was really nice (forgot her name...) but she did my hair totally wrong than what I asked for. I gave her a picture of a great half up, half down look that was breezy and not too prom-y (think slicked back uber tight curls on top of the head and hair spray galore). But I think she could've done a much better job. I asked for loose and flowy and I got super tight, slicked back and tightly wound curls which at the end of the night ended up being really piecey and thin. I asked for a slight "poof" at my crown for volume and she slicked back my sides a little more than I wanted. Yes yes I know it's for a wedding and while a crap ton of hairspray is needed for a style to keep for hours, there's a good way of sleeking a look and a wrong way. She even twisted the pony tail from the top half and tightly wounded it even more. It wasn't what I asked for at all. To top it off...it was $70!!! When I asked why it was so much, the rude receptionist mentioned that it's orignially $80 and that I already got a discount. Sure okay I still got a discount, I'm fine with that. But who in their right mind would pay friggin $80 in the first place? Plus mine was only half up! I died a little as I handed her my credit card. NOT WORTH IT AT ALL. Lower your prices for your "updos" M Salon. Your services are not worth that kind of money. *Slight note: Then again my friend's hair for her wedding was AMAZING. If I were grading for her updo, it was 5 stars all the way! She looked absolutely stunning.

Natasha and Michelle are both amaZing and so totally professional! I have been a client of this most beautiful salon on the north shore for over twelve years! I live in the city and would never go anywhere else. Every time I leave M Salon my hair looks and feels amazing. Michele and Diana have been doing my hair for (gasp!!!) almost 16 years!!! In all that time, I've only had my hair touched by others when they were on maternity leave. They are both professional, responsive to my needs, and accommodating. The front desk staff knows me by name, calls to confirm all appointments and even holds product for me that is running low and they know I'm scheduled. You can't ask for more!! LOVE EM!!!

I can't tell you how far off the mark it would be to rate this salon as anything but extraordinary. M Salon's clients are often people who've been their clients for 20 years or more. When you get a really beautiful haircut and exquisite color, you never leave. These hair stylists are every bit as talented as any of the top celebrity stylists one might read about in a high end fashion magazine. Manicures and pedicures are wonderful and they last! If that wasn't enough these top rated professionals are the nicest people you'll ever meet.
