Yelp
I am teetering between 3 and 4 stars for this review. If I could give M Vista 3.5 stars I would, but I will settle for 3 stars since I don't think M Vista compares to some of the places I have rated 4 stars. M Vista serves decent Asian cuisine. While they seem to be mainly a sushi restaurant, they have a large menu with many options ranging from sushi to wok and grill specials that span a variety of Asian cuisines, such as Thai, Szechuan, and Malaysian. Located on Lady Street, the restaurant is easily accessible and there is plenty of parking out back. The interior is spacious and the ambiance is nice. Service was also fantastic. Our server was very informative for our first visit and made sure we were well taken care of. We were recommended by a friend and we were certainly impressed initially by our experience, though as our meal went on, the quality of the dishes varied from good to outright bad.
We decided to partake in the four course dinner for two, which honestly ended up being more than the actual dishes we decided to get, so the server was nice enough to charge us for the individual items we had instead of the $50 four course dinner. Also, just to note, the server did inform us that ordering sushi would have resulted in about a 40-minute wait for our food. I am not sure if that is the standard, but for a place that does seem to primarily serve sushi, that's a bit of an issue. Anyways, the food was alright overall, again, the quality varied between dishes. The appetizers were good, we got the Malaysian combo, which included satay and potstickers. The miso soup was, well, miso soup. Hard to do that wrong. The avocado crab salad was great! Probably the best part of the meal. My fiancée ordered the chicken basil and it was good, though was more of a curry. I ordered the Carolina fried rice since it seemed to be a popular item and was thoroughly disappointed. It was like any fried rice I could have made at home. For dessert, we had green tea ice cream mochi that was absolutely horrendous. It didn't even seem like mochi, it tasted of plastic and had melted ice cream in the center, no thanks. I am not sure if I would come back. I'm sure they have better options on their menu given its length, but I would prefer spending my time at better and cheaper Asian options locally.
