What a great hidden gem. You are in the hustle and bustle of Little Italy, but all is quiet and calm here. Get a great glass of wine and just enjoy the ambiance of a great little neighborhood. Definitely worth a stop when here.

Nestled in a charming 1800s cottage in the heart of Little Italy, M Winehouse offers a cozy retreat for wine enthusiasts and casual sippers alike. The ambiance is undeniably inviting, with quirky wine-themed sayings adorning the walls and a homey feel that makes you want to linger. While the wine selection leans on the modest side for a place dubbed a “winehouse,” it does feature some intriguing international options. Beer lovers might find the canned selection interesting, though the absence of draft options is notable. The sangria, however, stands out—refreshing and well-balanced, it’s a highlight worth trying. The bartender was friendly — his welcoming demeanor added a nice personal touch. M Winehouse is an ideal spot for a quick drink or a relaxed evening with friends. Its unique setting and warm service make it a pleasant stop, even if the beverage offerings don’t break new ground.

We stumbled into this place while walking in little Italy and decided to stop in for one glass of wine. We sat upstairs and had a fabulous time! We played board games and drank wine and sangria. The sangria had a wonderful flavor. The atmosphere was cozy and charming, and we had a great time people watching from the upstairs balcony. Would recommend stopping by!!

My partner and I had the immense privilege of enjoying a few glasses of wine at this beautiful winehouse in Little Italy this past Sunday. I loved my time here very much. Niko and Marco were the absolute BEST hosts and bartenders. They were very sweet, attentive and created a wonderful fun and welcoming atmosphere. I 100% recommend this Gem!!!

Google
Super cute wine place. Wines are delicious and the staff knows about the different flavors which makes the experience even better. Go upstairs and enjoy a nice game with your friends while enjoying your wine. It’s the cutest most cozy place!

Google
Came by here with my mom on a Friday afternoon, and was surprised to see how empty the place was. The woman working behind the counter was nice and helpful with all the different wine options. The name was fitting because it is in a beautiful historic old house, also because of the very cozy feel. I love the upstairs the best because of the beautiful view of India street, and for all the diverse board games they have. Definitely will be taking friends and family here next time somebody visits San Diego for the first time.

Google
Wine was fine but pricey. Customer service was nonexistent. We felt ignored and very awkward. Probably wouldn't come back again

Friendly, welcoming staff, delicious white wine, Chimay and Fin du Monde on the beer list. 😀

Yelp
Came here before date night dinner, and grabbed the Owners Favorite "Hugues Picpoul". The wine was really good with medium body & fruity taste. A very cute spot to stop for a glass of wine. You order at the bar area, where you scan a QR code to look at the menu. They have the options of bar, outdoor, and upstairs sitting. The place gives old home vibes, & very intimate setting. Saw a lot of people just drinking and chatting, like a third space.

Yelp
A very cool little spot in Little Italy for wine lovers. They have a very great and friendly staff. The selection is huge and they have great deals that vary depending on the time. Great place to come and hang out and have some great wine.

Yelp
Cute little hidden Gem! They are known for Sangria. Upstairs has board games with a view of the outside. Highly recommend!

Yelp
I really like this wine spot in Little Italy, very centrally located and in a very cute old house. The seating areas are diverse - outside on the patio and alley, first floor indoor area and upstairs. It has a very comfy homey feel with quirky wine sayings on the walls. The diversity of wine is pretty good as well and on this particular visit, I got the red sangria. It was good but I personally like mine a little sweeter. Service here has always been great and the bartenders are helpful and friendly. I do notice that there is some confusion when people walk in as to whether they order at the downstairs bar first or if they sit down and order. I highly recommend, it's a great choice if you like wine!

Yelp
My friend and I came in for a quick glass of wine but stayed for Nico! She did such a lovely job at suggesting different wines we would like based on our different tastes, that we ended up staying for 3 glasses. Not only was the wine great, so was the conversation. She gave us a lot of good info & tips for our first time in San Diego. Shoutout to Nico for such a fun experience!

Yelp
Stumbled into this gem following a Padres game and then a trip to Little Italy where this wonderful place is located......let me rethink this, I'm not sure if this place is so spectacular or if our experience was so exemplary because of Donovan the bartender.......not only was he incredibly knowledgeable about all the wines and knew exactly what would tickle our palates, but as visitors, he took the time to share his favorites list of San Diego......don't let his young looks fool you, Donovan knows his shit!!!

Yelp
Absolutely ridiculous and beyond frustrating! We've been coming here multiple times with my son, only to suddenly be told, 'No children allowed.' When we questioned it, the man's excuse was, 'It's California law.' Really? We come all the way from OC just to visit this place, and now we're met with an arbitrary rule that's never been enforced before? To make matters worse, when we pushed for clarification, all we got was a dismissive, 'I'll talk to my staff.' No real explanation, no apology--just brushed off like we didn't matter. We simply wanted to enjoy our wine outside, taking in the view like we always have. This happened Saturday March 8th at night around 7 PM--guy in all black. If this is how they treat loyal customers, we won't be back."

Yelp
The only reason I'm giving it 2 stars is because the building is amazing! The wine is only okay and super over priced. They had posters everywhere advertising their cheese plate being $15 so I ordered it and then they said it didn't apply today. Mind you I thought the cheese plate delivered wasn't worth $15 but then I was charge $32 for the cheese plate. They were also completely out of Chardonnay. And then they charged the wrong bill my card and it took about 20 + minutes to figure out after I was ready to leave. Wouldn't go back.

SteelerNation C.

Yelp
Place was fantastic and the wine selection is everything to satisfy your pallet. The bartender was super nice and helpful. Place had a fantastic ambiance and we were bummed we didn't try the food! We had already eaten. Be sure to visit. Wine is very reasonably priced!!

Yelp
Visiting from LA we were walking around the area and saw this cute wine bar that resembled an old house from back in the days (the plaque said it's a historical landmark from1888). There was a sign on the sidewalk that said "oh look, it's wine o'clock" and that was the perfect time to get some wine. They had some options for seating which was the Porch, Bar area or attic, so we decided to head upstairs to attic. We had the space all to ourselves which was great. I love the shabby chic decor with sayings and drawings in frames all over the walls and a shelf full of games for us to play. This space was so cozy and inviting. We chose the table closest to the window with open air, watching the people go by as we played dominoes and enjoyed each others company. The server who was super nice and energetic, came up to take our order and serve them. Honestly, if they served actual food, other than the charcuterie board..., we probably would've stayed longer. It's like we didn't want to leave but we were too hungry. Service: great Cleanliness: great I would come back when I visit SD even though I'm not much of a wine drinker, but my friends are .

Yelp
I have been wanting to come to M Winehouse for so long. Located in the heart of Little Italy, this little wine shop is housed in what looks like a literal two story home. It's got cottage vibes on the outside and quirky 50-something woman vibes on the inside. You'll know what I mean when you walk in. The walls are littered with posters of cheesy sayings. Those ones that give sassy vibes about coffee, wine or age. There are two stories. You order from the bar downstairs and can sit either downstairs or upstairs. There are a bunch of board games upstairs. The upstairs area is better for larger groups while the downstairs has smaller seating options. They had a good selection of wines- all glasses at around $12-18.

Yelp
Loving this little wine house. Go in, order at the bar and grab a seat. Lots of options to select from. Also has beers and sangria. There's bar seating, table seating, upstairs and a little porch in front. Seating is limited, but people come and go so I've never had a problem. I wish I could sit in the porch, but usually the people who get lucky enough to claim does seats never leave! Little dim, very intimate vibes. Interesting decor. Bathroom is walking through a little hall outside the house which is actually kind of creepy, I'd recommend going with someone.

Yelp
Ryan! Five stars service! So friendly and helpful! Came here at the end of our fun night and what a way to end it!

Yelp
So dang CUUUTE!!! This little wine bar is absolutely adorbs. And not only that; they have a nice selection of wine too. Service was good albeit a tad slow since there was only one gentleman manning the fort on a busy Saturday night. However, that man was busting his arse to keep up with the crowds, and acknowledged everyone that came in. The interior space is small but comfortable. They have a patio parklet right in front that seems to be way more popular than their indoor bar. I loved reading all of the funny quotes on the walls. You know, those funny wine quotes that you'll often find in souvenir shops?! Well, they have a slew of those. They carry wine from all over the world here (France, Italy, Austria, Spain, California, etc). You can taste a splash of anything off of their menu before you commit to buying anything. You can purchase by the glass or bottle, and the prices are pretty reasonable considering that their bar is located right in the heart of Little Italy. The wine steward was really great in suggesting some wines to try based on my palate. I ended up having a few glasses of Pinot Noir and Zinfandel. I also enjoyed a scrumptious glass of their house made sangria! You guuuyyyyss.... their sangria is the shiiieeett! I wasn't going to get it until the wine steward convinced me. He was right. It was so fragrant and fruity. They're known for their house made sangria and rightfully so. It perfect to sip on when it hot outside. They have daily wine specials and they also carry light bites if you're hungry. Since I had planned on having dinner a few doors down, I just hung out and enjoyed the wine. I can see why this is a popular kick it spot. Would highly recommend if you're looking for a nice place to chill with some wine in Little Italy.

Yelp
This spot may not look like a wine spot , It is this wine house has a very homely feel. It's like your home, right in the heat of little Italy in San Diego . I you want to relax, this is a great spot with good service. thank me later. Shaun Rossettos

Yelp
Cute wine bar in little Italy!! The decorations are what stood out to me the most, there are a bunch of sayings on the walls that are funny. There's an upstairs and a downstairs, we went upstairs and it had a nice cozy vibe. There are board games you can play as well! The service was good too.
google avatar

Yelp
We decided to stop in on my friends birthday, just based on how it looked from the outside. inside was even cuter, I love a good historical site. We were greeted by the cutest sweet pup, and the welcoming was awesome. Had a few glasses of the sangria and it's wonderful. on a nice warm day in downtown SD, it was perfect. Def would recommend stopping by for some relaxing ambiance and welcoming people.

Yelp
This place is definitely small and quaint but it is such an awesome spot to grab a night cap glass of wine after dinner. They do have charcuterie boards you can order if you need a bite to eat but their wine selection is pretty great and quite extensive. Monica was our server running the show and she was very knowledgeable on what wines we should try. There is also an upstairs area that has games to enjoy with friends while you enjoy some vino.

David M.

Yelp
Great service and love the ambiance. Variety of wine and able to play games with a view of people watching . Interesting dorky jokes and posts along the walls to feel cozy

Yelp
I absolutely love this place! The historic setting (little house built in 1888) is just magical, and I found my new favorite wine there. The bartender asked us what kind of wine I liked, and from very little information he was able to recommend an absolutely fabulous wine from Tooth and Nail. I have since been back for a glass of it several times, and even bought a few bottles to take home. Truly a wonderful experience!

Yelp
This little house is a historical landmark in San Diego... it's a little house that was moved three blocks away to its final destination here in the gas lamp district.. many many years ago... I believe the gal said it was originally from the 1900s... You really do get that sense when you walk in . it's a stand up bar that sells international wines . we chose a Mexican wine from Guadalupe . A flight tasting . we had a Chardonnay, a rosé, a reserve and a Cabernet... all very good. We decided to go up stairs in this little house and wine bar to our surprise the quaint space upstairs was so cozy. It's definitely a place you would want to go sip a glass of wine they have a beautiful open window that has a balcony unfortunately , the house is too old to house people out on the balcony but you do get a beautiful view of the street and people below. We just loved all of the sayings that were posted on the wall directly related to wine and the enjoyment that you have when you drink wine . I believe this was the owner, Beth's inspiration. It was definitely an unexpected find....
google avatar

Connie H.

Yelp
I asked for a smaller cheeseboard other than the one lsrge cheeseboard they offered..it's a small shop and I was told the only option is to order the large..perhaps cut in half for one person! Go to another place for wine & cheese!!.....after asking to take down my review because they have wonderful cheese board..that may be so..but being a small shop with very few customers on a Sunday afternoon, accommodating to the few customers you have should be a priority..you just got hit with the private yelper!

Yelp
Absolutely stellar little wine bar in Little Italy. Stumbled across this place while we were looking for a place to wait out the 4th of July post-fireworks traffic. BEST sangria I've had so far, and great service. The interior is small, and very quaint. They have a cute little patio, some inner bar seating, and a few tables upstairs. Perfect for small to mid-sized groups to chill out. I LOVE that they're open so late (1am), and that they sell retail bottles of wine as well! I can't wait to come back!
google avatar

Jeff M.

Yelp
Pleasant surprise! We were staying in Little Italy for a short trip and wandered in to M Winehouse for a drink. Super cute inside, with a great overall vibe. It's very casual and cozy. We sat at one of the two high-tops on the main floor. There is an upstairs area that we didn't venture up to check out. The bartender was very cool and helpful with our wine selection. This is a place we will be back to for sure on our next trip to the area - highly recommend for a chill place to kick back with a good wine
google avatar

Yelp
The cutest place! I've walked by a hundred times and never noticed this place but Pali was closed so we were in search of wine and stumbled upon this place. It's THE CUTEST little place... we've been sitting on the porch with a glass of wine and multiple people have stopped to comment how cute this place is and how they've never noticed it. The bartender is also super cute and friendly and knowledgeable. Pricing is reasonable and the vibes are super good. Will definitely be back!!

Hannah R.

Yelp
My mom & I have spent the week here in San Diego, and while we have found some cool wine spots, nothing matches our experience here at M Winehouse. Nico surpassed our expectations with not only her service and wine expertise, but her warm friendliness. As a midwesterner, that is something that I treasure. The place is beautiful, and is as welcoming as it is delightful. Will absolutely recommend travelers to come here!

Kathy P.

Yelp
Very welcoming environment! Our server was extremely helpful! Lots of wines to choose from, all by the glass, bottle or retail to go!!! This will be our new go to when in Little Italy. Our sever helped us find a delicious wine while we sat and enjoyed some people watching. Thank you!!!

Richard M.

Yelp
Terrible service ,they don't greet you when you enter and have terrible service I definitely don't recommend this place

Yelp
Awesome little house that I never noticed until yesterday. It was a Friday and we were trying to be spontaneous, so no plans just winging it all. Ate food and wanted more drinks and you know how it is, theirs always a waitlist, or a line. We saw this 2 story house with a cute front patio, interesting little place... we walked in not knowing what to do, but saw people walking down the stairs so we said,"if there's people leaving then their should be opened spots then..." the 2 bartenders stopped us and let us know to order drinks here first then can go up stairs... looked through their menu and we noticed that they were voted best sangria. So we had to try it. 2 big glasses for us and down the hatch. It was yummy but it seemed like juice more than wine. Otherwise a cute little hangout place, possibly a place to study... etc. or cute date to stop by for a quick drink. In the end, we closed out and they give you a little note book to write in and I didn't have much time since more people wanted to come in, but definitely made it like a,"thank you for coming to our home" experience. Should stop by!

Yelp
Cute little spot in Little Italy customer service is awesome, we love Lili she's friendly and helpful. Love this spot for glass of wine or two they also have a tasty sangria. Try it out atmosphere is cool and Did you know it's a historical landmark?
google avatar

Lucho V.

Yelp
Although we only had a glass of sangria it was a short enjoyable experience. Cute little wine house located in the heart of Little Italy. Wine bottles and memorabilia line their walls. We sat upstairs enjoying the view. They offer a few board games. The service was fast and friendly. Dog friendly and overall a great place to visit.

Yelp
This is the greatest find in San Diego if you are a wine lover. First, they are located in a historic home. The entire area is modern with larger building and then there is the cutest house tucked in to it all. They have a great little patio and small bar. It's very intimate and I loved it. In talking to our bartender, Ivan we learn his family owns it and he was extremely knowledgeable. Not just about the wine, but also the house and the area. He was phenomenal to talk with. Let's talk about these two women that came and sat on the patio outside the window with their puppers. Ivan literally opens the window and leans out to serve them. ALSO, he brought their puppers water. It was beyond the cutest thing I have ever seen. They are known for their Sangria, so of course I had a glass and it lived up to its name. They have a great selection, you should stop by. They also have a second floor that is very open and has a lot of games available to play. If I lived in the area I would see this being my go to spot. Highly recommend.

Yelp
Little, house looking establishment on the corner in Little Italy. Nice selection of wine. Beer is in bottles. You can sit in or out and enjoy people watching. The only downside is that you have to walk a 1/4 mile to use the public restrooms.

Khanh D.

Yelp
Went here for my friend's birthday and we were greeted with the cutest lil puppy and amazing staff. Niko came and took some pictures of us celebrating our friend and gave us sangria's to enjoy. She's an amazing photographer! Follow them on Instagram at m_winehouse to see her amazing photos!!

Yelp
a historic landmark AND winehouse?? such an adorable way to spend the night away from the crowds and loud music. the little patio out front is perfect for people watching, plus the staff inside can just pop their heads through the window to serve you. it was so funny whenever he came out because we always heard his voice before noticing his head. he gave great suggestions for novice wine drinkers and they had a great sangria. definitely would love to end my night here again!

Christopher R.

Yelp
What a great spot for an after dinner drink or night cap!! Adrian is the man setting us up with a great glass of wine after asking g us what our pallet called for!! Can't wait to come back's

Yelp
It's small, cute, and intimate. Very good for a nice night cap. Closes late. Good drinks & charcuterie board was good. The bar tender was great too, really friendly.

Yelp
Forget the world in this little chateau replicating a European atmosphere. This place is super fun, romantic, great service, a gem in the middle of tourist chaos. Enjoy a wonderful glass of wine and make your way upstairs to the quaint loft full of games with tables, ambiance, and a window overlooking the streets below. A must see in Little Italy.
google avatar

Blanca P.

Yelp
We loved this place! The wine selection is amazing and the sangria is to die for. My boyfriend loves beer and they even were able to satisfy him as well. the cheese board was delicious. I'd highly recommend this place! 10/10

Yelp
Adorable little winehouse in Little Italy. The name of the place makes me wonder if it's a reference to Amy Winehouse? I had passed by M Winehouse a couple of months ago while I was buzzed in a Lyft Ride lol. I bookmarked M Winehouse when I meant to bookmark Influx next door thinking that was a winery lol so imagine my surprise when I made my friend grab drinks with me here ha ha. It's okay though I enjoyed my experience anyway! M Winehouse legitimately looks like someone's home amidst the restaurants and cafes in Little Italy. There's a small porch and downstairs there's bar seating. My friend and I opted to sit upstairs which looks like a cute attic with a few tables and even gameboards. Luckily this couple left and we got the window seat with a nice view below of the street, it's facing Born & Raised Steakhouse. I'm honestly not a wine expert by any means. I just have a sweet tooth so I love Moscato. I wouldn't know what fancy vs cheap wine is ha ha. I got the 2013 Tintero Moscato D'Asti which I enjoyed. My friend got the house white wine. It was nice and relaxing enjoying our drinks upstairs. The lady working there was really nice. Even though we were the only ones dining upstairs she checked on us a couple of times. I don't go out to drink wine often but I do like this place and I'll try to come back again when I'm in Little Italy.
google avatar

Janet S.

Yelp
This is a great place to hang out on a Friday afternoon. They have a wonderful selection of wines (not a beer drinker but they have that too). The bartender, Lilia, was very helpful, knowledgeable and caring. She made good recommendations. A nice way to spend an afternoon.

Susan S.

Yelp
We just wanted to enjoy some wine without any meal obligations or a loud bar setting. Found this cute little place that'll offer just what we needed. We think our wine could be good if they are in their respective wine glasses. Most people failed to understand glasses also enhance the experience. Service was great. She's very sweet. Wished we could experience our wines better.
google avatar

Liza F.

Yelp
Maybe i came on the wrong night. This Monday i walked in and there were blaring commercials...no vibe at all. I hate to leave a negative vibe but i was not inclined to spend money on a wine bar. Was so bummed as i thought oh cool it's a historic spot but meh. Looked like wines were not being kept at the right temperature. You have to do the internet thing to get the menu and there was 0 interest to discuss it from the person tonight. Depressed.
google avatar

Yelp
The perfect spot to grab a drink before dinner! I made sure M Winehouse was on my list to visit this time around in San Diego being the oldest house in Little Italy. My family and I enjoyed sitting on the front porch and people watching while we enjoyed our drinks. They have a great selection at an affordable price. I'd absolutely come back!
google avatar

Stella G.

Yelp
I stumbled upon this wine house and I came back 3 times in one night bc I couldn't resist the amazing energy. Mike and Luis are so friendly and the porch outside where you can sip wine and enjoy the view of little italy is peaceful. Definitely stop by here and enjoy a glass of sangria, beer or a nice glass of wine. A must !
google avatar

Yelp
Absolutely adore this special spot. Love Ruth! Casual. Fun. I started this review back in 2015. Just finishing it now. That's how amazing this place is.
google avatar

Devon F.

Yelp
I love this wine bar. BUT not only do they allow smoking on their tiny (6 seat) outdoor patio- they'll happily supply the lighter. This is against San Diego smoking laws for restaurants, and makes the entire building full with smoke as there are large windows over looking the patio. It's a shame they can't follow basic county laws- they're otherwise a lovely little wine bar.
google avatar

Mary Jo M.

Yelp
Sangria was delicious! Monica was very informative about the wines and was so sweet. Nice ambiance and very relaxing atmosphere. .

Alan L.

Yelp
Chill spot and great wine selection. Thanks for the great service Mike! Perfect to come before or after dinners
