Upscale restaurant serving a selection of British game dishes in a wood and leather space.
"You’ll have to grab a shotgun to get in the door here, but don’t worry – it’s just the door handle, which sets the tone for this restaurant that’s all about the Scottish pursuit of wild food. The menu uses venison and haggis as the basis for some fantastic cooking, and the Veni-Moo burger (a double whammy of venison and beef) is a classic you should try on your first visit. There are also expensive steaks and a whole roast shoulder of lamb for two or more, but you can have a great time with cheaper main dishes, small plates, and side dishes. The basement is much bigger than the ground floor and better in the evening, especially if you’re on a date – which should probably be a second or third outing rather than the opening event. No one’s going to be impressed by how much red meat you can put away, unfortunately." - Richard Ehrlich
"For:A very merry burger. Mac and Wild makes one of the best burgers in London. That’s just a fact. And for the first time ever you can enjoy their Christmas burger from the comfort of your own home (read as: on your sofa wearing trackies). This DIY kit comes with everything you need, including pork stuffing, venison, melted brie, red cabbage, and shredded sprout tops. Our festive senses are tingling. Heads up, they’re also doing a venison chateaubriand meal kit." - heidi lauth beasley
"Mac and Wild’s new private lodges for four basically feel like the Scottish highlands but without having to freeze your ass off or fear any stray red deer. Plus, we’re still not 100% sure that the Loch Ness monster isn’t legit. Anyway, we checked out Mac and Wild’s glammed-up sheds and you should know that this place is home to one of London’s best burgers, deep-fried Mars bars, a whisky dispenser in each lodge, and there’s no minimum spend or booking fee. Honestly, we had such a good time, and there’s also a private converted Land Rover out front that you can book for bigger groups." - heidi lauth beasley
"Impulsive lockdown purchase #38: A giant grilling machine that you’ve nicknamed Hank The Firebender. Well, it’s time for Hank to meet Mac and Wild’s mixed BBQ boxes. This Scottish spot really knows their meat and they’re delivering curated packs from their butcher that includes ribeye steak, beef burgers, lamb chops, and pork sausages. You can pick between a small box, large box, or alternatively a family meat box that comes with venison, haggis, and more." - heidi lauth beasley
"Pack your bags. It’s time for a trip to the Scottish Highlands. And when we say ‘the Scottish Highlands’ we mean that fancy square in the City near Spitalfields. Located in Devonshire Square, Mac and Wild serves some seriously excellent butcher’s cuts fresh from the Highlands. We recently checked out their new socially-distanced private lodges and the Macduff’s rib-eye steak was seriously excellent. Be sure to check out their signature berry-packed Red Jon side sauce too." - heidi lauth beasley
