MacArthur Park

We live in Manhattan, so we've been to a lot of good restaurants, but while visiting my sister's house, we had a satisfying dinner at this Irish restaurant in Rockville Center, Long Island, with fresh ingredients and a menu faithful to the original, with ample portions and prices. I really liked it because it didn't seem like frozen vegetables. My mom, my sister, and my cute little daughters, ages 3 and 7, had a great meal. I'm sorry the kids were making a fuss. Please look cute with plenty of tips :) The service was a little slow , there were no kids chairs for my 3 and 7 year olds, and the potatoes (my favorite) were so burnt that I am taking off one star. I hope I can give you five stars next time ~ :)

Very nice Irish pub feel. Decent selection in the Menu. Good beer selection. Had the lobster bisque that's was very tasty and good on a rainy day. Enjoyed the Sheppard's pie for my entree that was cooked well and and seasoned perfect. Overall a very good meal.

I just had my OWN weird experience on my lunch break , even tho ive heard otjer stories. Soooo I won't use the race card BUT I just witness everyone in the bar get asked if they wanted more drinks , napkins , sauce , etc by the bartender but HE constantly walked pass me and would even make eye contact and wouldn't even ask if everything was ok , like every bartender does...🤷🏿‍♂️ The older woman that works there is VERY polite, but he sucks at MAKING everyone fill welcomed

I had come in the day during the super bowl, as i was waiting for a table the lady at the bar shut off the TV once the halftime show begun. She was very disrespectful to the customer that had asked why she turned it off and was extremely rude and said she could do whatever she wants. I will not be returning there as well as all of my family that has been customers there for many years

One of the best Shepherds Pie I have ever had. The ingredients are fresh, seasoned to perfection, not too salty. As they say....spot on!

Friendly service, nice n quiet. Best Onion soup n Steak salad was amazing, French dip was delicious too. We'll definitely be back.

Thank you to the entire staff at MacArthur Park! We held my husband’s military retirement dinner here. The food was sooo delicious, the staff was amazing and all at a reasonable cost. You all really made it so easy on us. I know some of our guests loved the food so much they’re making plans to come back for dinner.

Great restaurant right near Village Hall and train. A friend had a burger and fries and I had Reuben with onion rings. Excellent food, service and a great booth. The owner is a very friendly and nice person. I enjoyed my lunch. Thank you.

Delicious food and drink, just what I was looking for today. Sauerbraten that was cooked perfectly, chicken barley soup, and a fantastic Reuben on rye. Shout out to our waitress Phoebe, outstanding Long Island Ice Tea, could have been in a bigger glass, but great. The pumpkin ale with cinnamon rim excellent Gastropub vibe with separate dining room with booths, could be updated, but inviting. I like it here and would definitely recommend.

Great local watering hole, cool old world vibe, warm wood bar. Professional bartenders that know to pour a beer propery, and keep your glass full. Good food, pub style with large portions. Live music on some nights, we'll be back.

My friend and I stopped by for the bar experience in Rockville Center, Long Island. I loved how friendly and relaxing the bar experience was here. I can see why pretty much all the locals stopped by for a drink, bite or watching the game before heading home. The bartender was amazing. He gave us his undivided attention when we were ready to place our users. That can be difficult for a bartender. We appreciate this level of attention. Oh yeah, so we sat at the bar and had a few dogfish beer. The best golden ales is the best way to go. My friend and I ordered the typical chicken fingers and loads of French fries. It's the best bar food to go with beer. Totally appreciated the great services and pleasant atmosphere. I would definitely stop by again if Rockville Center was my neighborhood.

Eggs Benedict was cold. Come on put some effort into this simple dish. No good brunch.

A solid albeit unimpressive neighborhood spot. Their burgers are surprisingly good. Beer selection is decent especially with seasonal stuff which I always appreciate. It's never too crowded, which I'm sure isn't great for them, but I can always rely on being able to get a table. I haven't ordered take-away from them yet, but they're always on my list for that. Prices are good, service is usually solid. I know they have a few spacious party rooms, and would love to find an occasion to use one. They have GREAT pretzel nuggets, surprisingly.

Just left after eating lunch here. Hubby had the Hangover burger and I had the skirt steak. Also started with lobster bisque that was delicious. The waitress was fantastic and sweet and the food was amazing. It was very clean and well kept and the booths were comfy.

Great place! Food is always flavorful, cooked well, great menu choices.Family friendly, friday nights there's live music in the bar area. The owner Tom is must treat his employees very well, they are all pleasant to deal with!

Definitely one those neighborhood spots that the locals know about and love. Food is always consistent. Live music on some weekends. It's split into to three sections - the bar, the main dining room and the party room (you can reserve this area for special events - we've been to bday, graduation and other events). It's a great gathering place with good food. If you're looking for white linen and fancy silverware - go somewhere else - if you're looking for a nice family friendly atmosphere with good food, you got the right place. We had the turkey burger, chipotle burger, the Wisconsin and a side of wings - all to go this time and the burgers were all great! Portions are always plentiful and everything is always tasty!

Count your change. They bring your change on there credit price even if you pay with cash . Cash price is on bill but not honored and they round out the coin in their favor. That happened last 3 times there. Waiter said that is how their machine does it. Besides the fly in our water picher the food was good baked potato was cold And service very slow.

Visit Date: January 4, 2020 I came in here for my dad's sanitation retirement party so my experience is party room only. I don't drink anymore and even if I did I was driving anyway so I wouldn't have had anything. The bartender in the party room was nice, gave my son the cherries and soda that he wants at parties. They were super accommodating about me being gluten free, I always appreciate that. I forgot to mention it when I gave my money for the party so I asked the waitress what I could eat from the buffet and she checked with the kitchen and offered me a plate of grilled chicken with veggies or a plate of steak. I asked if I could do steak and veggies and she was okay with that so they bought me my own plate of steak and veggies. They gave me a lot of steak and it was soft and melty in my mouth and I loved it. They also bought out chicken nuggets for my son and my nehew, of course the two kids barely touched the food but my hubs had some and seemed to like it. The coffee wasn't all that great, but the woman cutting the cake for the retirement party was really awesome and insisted we take a family photo with my father by the cake before she cut it. Overall the staff seemed really nice and a nice staff goes far for me as far as my reviews. They do have a restaurant area besides a bar so I would consider coming back here to eat. Sometimes I'm a little hesitant to eat in bars depending on the situation. Shortly after I was married or shortly before I was married I put myself in an awkward situation by eating at a bar for lunch and worrying about the men hanging at the bar in the afternoon, especially because besides the bartender I was the only woman who was in the bar. So yea after that I try to carefully consider that the bar has a separate restaurant area that makes eating there less awkward. I liked it here and would come back again.

Went here for a private party, it was really beautiful inside. The staff were beyond excellent. I had the NY strip steak, cooked perfectly. I will definitely be returning.

Great neighborhood bar and restaurant. It has been there for a long time and there is a reason why. Food is solid and always consistent. The steak salad is delicious, burgers are also great as are many other menu items. I especially enjoy the nachos and pretzel bites when I'm at the bar. If you're looking for fancy, white glove service, this isn't your place, but if you want a comfortable place with good food and a chill vibe, try it!

Great American Bar! Real Americans as patrons, as staff and the owner too. Hard to find a place like this in New York right now. Cherish it. Bartender on Saturdays makes killer dirty martini's.

Cozy local bar/restaurant. Comfort food at comfortable spot. Last time I had the chicken pesto panini and loved it. Enjoyed my meal equally this time. Just wished I had the diciplinet to take a picture of the dessert before finishing it all hehe. Cookies and cream tartufo tho... you get it, wasn't really an option. Have come many times just for drinks. Been here for a few bridal/baby showers. Just started going for dinner. Don't have to get fancy, just enjoy good food/drinks w friends. Guiness on tap always good. There's a ton of places to go in rvc. Go to MacArthur Park when you aren't looking to dress to the 9s and overpay for a fancy dish. The bar tends to have a slightly older crowd, but the restaurant ranges from high school kids, couples, families, seniors. Really a hodgepodge of folks that come for a good time, w good food and will not be rushed like other places in town. Other perk is you will find parking. Maybe not in the limited lot next door, but closer than other parts of town.

A super cozy bar and grill in Rockville Centre. Icy cold pint glasses for tap beer, good traditional pub eats, lotto and plenty of tvs for all sporting events this is a comfortable spot to camp out for an afternoon. Friendly bar staff and regulars, tasty burgers

We have been there many times and love it. I'm a creature of habit and always order the same thing, the Sauerbraten with fried potato pancakes and red cabbage. U get a hefty potion. Actually, I've never finished a meal b/c the food is so plentiful. There is always enough for another meal. It is delicious! My husband and son are always trying new items and they love whatever they are eating. The wait staff is efficent and friendly. The only problem is sitting next to unruly kids and parents who pay no attention to them. The kids were running around the restaurant and annoying the other patrons. Take them to McDonald's until they r old enough to sit at a table. All in all a great place for a casual meal.

I would give this place ZERO stars if I could. My husband and I called to do a a pickup order tonight 2-21 and the service was abysmal. My husband called the order in at 6:01 PM and we didn't get the food until 658. They told us it would be a half hour for the food. We will never ever order go to this restaurant again. Awful service. I would like the manager to fix this.

Meh not impressed. Food not even mediocre. Unfriendly staff. Trying to enjoy a nice dinner out and some drunk older guy at the bar causing an absurd scene at bar. Won't be going back. My 12 year old daughter makes better burgers. Bartender extremely rude too .

Alas, nothing lasts forever. Been enjoying this place for thirty-plus years. It was great. It changed. Tonight will be our last visit. Salty bar food. Nothing else will describe it. Salty bar food. Greasy bar food. We're done here.

Great place!!! Has a huge bar and dining area. Very sweet staff. But food is amazing. So fresh and yummy. Not overwhelming. Really good!! Place also has live music events and different happy hours based on the day. Def worth trying out!!! Couldn't wait to take a pic of my food

Couldn't have had a WORSE experience I'm just sorry I didn't post this sooner. My son passed suddenly and we decided to do the between services at a local establishment who I thought would do the right thing. Well that was the biggest mistake ever! Tommy didn't have a designated area for my family and friends or even set us up together... came to find out several of my party had their own tabs but he charged me anyway! Said anyone in a suit must be part of my family and being that it was 5pm on a weekday and people were coming off the train. Again poor organization and he then threatened my husband to pay the SIX THOUSAND DOLLARS HE DEMANDED or he would call the cops. He should be ashamed of himself for trying to extort money from a grieving mother and served us chicken fingers and tidbits. I am embarrassed for him and will NEVER enter his place again. I try and always support local businesses and he lost my support. Again he should be ASHAMED!

The whole family received gift cards to MacArthur Park. We were going to all go there Saturday night but it seems as though we cannot all sit at the same table and use our gift cards. The people that gave us the gift card thought it would be nice for us all to go out to dinner together. Mental note...DO NOT buy Gift Cards to MacArthur Park.

Frozen food throughout and everything is brought in prepared. My mashed potatoes were still frozen at the center of the "pile".

Food and drinks are good. Staff is terrible. Our waitress Dani was slow, rude and forgetful. We overheard the staff talking about us at the service station when we were sitting right next to it. They were being so obnoxious I couldn't wait to leave. It took 20 minutes to get the check when we were the only ones in the dining room. Very poor attention to detail. Definitely take the 3 extra minutes to walk to a different place for a more enjoyable experience.

This establishment has lost a great deal of its lustre over the last year or so. I'm not sure if they have new owners, but something has changed, and not for the better. Prices have jumped, selection has seemingly shrunk, and you even need to ask for bread with dinner. The place was empty on a Wednesday evening for dinner, which I've not seen in my twenty years of eating here. Its very sad. We've been coming here for over twenty years, so we did like it a lot, whether it was meeting old friends for lunch, or holding a 30 person party for my wife's 50th birthday. But alas, all good things must seemingly come to an end. There are plenty of places to eat in RVC, so why not go elsewhere.

Cold barren atmosphere in the dining room...We should have known better just feeling the blahness of the place. Waitress super nice is the only plus. I asked if iced tea was made in house , she said yes BUT i had to return it, it was made from powder--i guess i have to now ask, is your iced tea made from real tea leaves which sounds a tad pretentious to me but...i guess i have to sound that way. I had the steak tidbits which is their specialty BUT it lacked any flavor--i needed the protein so I ate it. The onion rings it came with were burnt through and through -they were crispy grease coated empty rings --The chef and waitress should be ashamed to serve onion rings that way.

Really nice place to go to! The only reason I gave it 4/5 and not 5 is because sometimes their brunch buffet is not too hot and the drinks are watered down (at brunch). Besides that, I always have great service here especially when we have Lindsay! She is so cute, personable and a wonderful server. I like the steak tidbits, always cooked how you order it! We usually go for brunch, it is an amazing deal. Any entree on the brunch menu comes with a mimosa, screwdriver or bloody mary, and to add unlimited drinks is only $6. There is also a buffet with bacon, sausage, salads, and penne alla vodka which is so good especially since it doesn't specialize in Italian food! :) They used to have scrambled eggs but last time they didn't have it so I'm not sure if they stopped doing it. They also have various specials during the week. Definitely worth a trip there!

MacArthur Park is a wonderful restaurant located in MacArthur Park bar when you walk in you walk into the bar section if you go to the left it will then walk into the dining room obviously it was a full selection of beers wines Etc the big surprise is the food anything you order comes relatively quickly and in portions that are very very large if you get a shepherd's pie you will be eating it for 3 to 4 days and it just gets better each day. Many times people just eat a little and take food home and end up throwing it out not with MacArthur Park is steak tips are very good the appetizers and we have had have also been quite delicious although it's a very casual place the food seems that it would be in more of an upscale dining room so you can dress and sleep comfortably and still have that wonderful gourmet meal that you crave definitely worth the five stars

I booked a baby shower ( 25 guests) for my daughter on Dec 3rd, 2017. I had heard that this establishment was very good. The managers I talked to on the phone, Dana, Todd, and Tom were very accommodating and responsive to my needs. The food choices were splendid and I figured the food and room would be more than fine. So everything should have been GREAT, right? A big NO to that premise! The food was very good, the room just the right size, everything looked great, HOWEVER, this restaurant which has been in business for almost 50 years gave me a totally untrained, inexperienced server who had no clue about serving and hospitality! She was, I found out 19, but looked about 14 and I know my 12 year old granddaughter could have done a better job! This "server" neither introduced herself , smiled or offered her help in any way. Her prevailing expression was one of disinterest and distain and seemingly looking lost or like she would like to disappear. She DID NOT GREET GUESTS OR MAKE THEM WELCOME! She ignored requests for drinks or cleaning off the tables,she had to be asked at least 3 times to bring fresh coffee to the tables because the other coffee had gotten cold, I myself asked her at least five times about menus for the teenagers and kids in the party ( I had arranged and paid for 4 children's meals ) , I overheard people complaining about her lack of attention to their requests, well I could go on but I think you got the idea . Now she WAS NOT RUDE BUT HER DISINTEREST IN DOING HER JOB WAS EXTREMELY NOTICEABLE! To top it off , I found out the next day that she NEVER GAVE the children's menu to two of my guests which meant they ate nothing although I did pay for their meals! I called the next day to complain and spoke to an associate of Dana. This person did apologize and offered the excuse that she was new and inexperienced. NOT MY PROBLEM! When u arrange a luncheon you expect that the person serving you KNOWS WHAT THEY ARE DOING! Not the case here. Now I'm not going to say the baby shower was RUINED BUT IT DEFINITELY WAS NOT THE SUCCESS I HAD ENVISIONED! I called also on the following day when I found out she never even gave menus to two of my guests, and I was blown off. Todd or Tom was to call me the next day! Guess what, neither one called. I'm really disappointed in this place because I feel they didn't address my complaints seriously. So IF you book a party beware !

So happy I can finally review this place! I have been to MacArthur Park numerous times and it was always for a party, never for a "dining experience." This past weekend I was treated to dinner by my best friends family, and it locked in how great this place is. I always had a great time at the parties. Great staff and the food buffet was exactly what everyone was looking for. Fries, chicken fingers, lemon chicken...bread. The food always passed the easy, yum test. The back room was perfect for the crowd we had. Plenty of space AND they are super cool with the decorating. My friend and I came early to basically wrap the place in balloons and streamers for the party. No worries...that back party room is yours for the evening. Anywhoooo...I FINALLY got to sample a meal after a super adorable dance recital. I was starving and practically jumping up and down (on my bum) in my seat when I got hold of the bread basket. Pumpernickel raisin bread? Super yummy flatbreads? You had me at hello!? The bread-basket was a slice of heaven. We didn't waste time with apps it was all about a quick burger. I copied my BF on the turkey burger. She opted for the mixed fries, and BATTERED (my fav) onion rings. I was copy-catting it away and ordered the mozz. on the turkey burger. What a great choice! This turkey burger was unlike any other I have ever consumed. It was freaking awesome. This is nothing out of the freezer or a box. It is freshie-freshie. To top it all off, it is served on an English muffin. It is weird how the bread can change the whole taste of the burger. I was so impressed and I am stealing this idea for future BBQ's. I really enjoyed my time at MacArthur Park. It is a great family restaurant.

I hadn't been here in years and decided to meet a few friends for Sunday night cocktails. Two young twenty something guys with chips on their shoulders were sitting outside on the bench. Oy Vey... I was thinking, this place is not what it used to be. Once inside I was pleasantly surprised that the crowd was mellow and decent. My friends and I had a few very well made martini's and some bar noshes ( chicken fingers and fries) Drinks and food were on point. Mixed crowd for a Sunday night. A few young rapscallions feeling their oats.. were laughable. Glad to see that this place has not changed much and still is a nice chill spot for food and drinks.

Been going to this place for years, but never again. I should have taken the first hint when I saw the place was kind of empty for a Saturday night!! First, the sodas we ordered were flat. Then the waitress, who was very nice, brought us 2 more... which were also flat but had a little more flavor than the first... anyways.. I ordered a special of Honey fried chicken and Ribs... the ribs were covered in fat and the fried chicken had no honey and was straight out of the frozen food section from the supermarket!!! It was horrible!! I took one bite out of it but couldn't bring myself to eat it!! When the waitress asked if I wanted it wrapped I told her the that I really didn't like it and that it tasted like frozen food... she apologized... BUT THAT WAS IT!! No attempt to make it right!! This place has lost what it once was... to add insult to injury... there was a $3 fee for paying by credit card!!! Pretty pathetic!! Find someplace else to spend your money!!

This was the most "un-Rockville Center" bar of Rockville Center bars on Thanksgiving Eve. They had a great live band, three bars spread out through the restaurant, but not enough bathrooms. I kind of got puked on a little bit by this kid who was vomiting something pink. Totally absurd. I'm too old to get puked on by children who can't hold their liquor. I saw a lot of my old friends here, they did a good job with the crowd, everyone (everyone) seemed to be having a good time here, which is certainly not the case with most other RVC bars on Thanksgiving Eve. My only gripe is the one tiny bathroom in the whole place, but c'est la vie. I'll definitely come back here next year if they have live music again.

Very generous brunch. After you make your way through the buffet you most likey will barely have room for anything else. Overall the food was good. Tough to find a good brunch spot on Long Island so we will deffinitely be back.

Came here with my boyfriend the other night on the hunt for somewhere new to go in RVC that wasn't a total bar scene. It's near Vibe Lounge on the other side of the train tracks. A quiet place that looks better for an older crowd. I personally love bar/pub food and always find it delicious. Here, however: I didn't find it that good. The waitstaff is very friendly and checks in regularly, it's the food that I was questionable about. I had the "steak tidbits" and my boyfriend has the Reuben sandwich. Boyfriend was a little biased because he used to come here years ago and talked it up big time. He said his sandwich was very good. Mine was less than impressive. They had a small menu, not many items to choose from. My dish was steak sliced into "bits" on garlic bread. The steak was overcooked even though I asked for medium rare- I brushed it off and tried it anyway. The bread wasn't very garlicky and the steak was tough. It was served with a barbecue-like sauce that was a little spicy? Not very good- It just did not match the dish. Other than that the place looks nice, but it just didn't please me food wise- which is the most important to me! Not planning on coming back anytime soon.

My wife and I went to dinner at Macarthur Park using a Groupon certificate. The restaurant itself is roomy and clean.We ordered a nacho platter for an appetizer which was very good. We then ordered for dinner a chicken and ribs dish and a chicken with bacon sandwich. Both of the entrées were very good and the accompanying side dishes were excellent. Service was excellent and was always responsive. The price to value ration is around average for this type of restaurant. All in all this was a very good experience and I look forward to returning in the near future.

Overall the food was great, however, there's one server who made me want to give only 1 star. We overheard her talking rudely and also saw her picking her head. That is not appropriate when working around food. Other than this one server, the other staff is incredible.

"Someone left the cake out, in the rain..." ALRIGHT I'LL STOP!! Been here a few times and each time does not disappoint (if only they would play that song, I would have given them 6 stars!) But seriously, they have a great place. Food is always fresh and big portions; drinks are great and a good variety of beers; having Quick Draw from the lotto is always a plus for me; and their prime rib is spot on every time. Also very convenient to the LIRR Rockville Centre stop. Just a minute or two walk down the road. Highly recommended, especially if you want to meet a few friends here for a quick drink. "All that sweet green icing flowing down..." GEEZ!!! HAHAHA.

They never disappoint us for Sunday Brunch. This has now become our go to spot whenever we can all get together. The food is fresh and plentiful. Today our Server was Lindsey and our busgirl was Anna. What a delight they were. They were very attentive and personable. We felt as if we were the only table they had! Our entres were just as we ordered them and paired well with all the items on their buffet. A definite home run!

Most of the food I've had here was mediocre. A lot of it is clearly frozen foods. Look at the pictures on Yelp... that's basically what you'll get. The bar IS great, and happy hour prices are really good. MacArthur Park certainly isn't a BAD place, but it's definitely not one of the better places to EAT in RVC, let alone Long Island. If you're a local and you want cheap beer and appetizers, come here. If you want great food... there are delis that serve fresher, higher quality fare than MacArthur Park

Been coming here since I was a kid and have never had a bad experience. It's a true village centered bar that offered great food, friendly efficient service and a great central meeting spot. They have been great throughout this pandemic providing curbside or delivery! Please come support them- you won't be sorry!

We went here for my bridal shower and it was a really nice experience. The wait staff were great and accommodating. We had the dining room in the back reserved for our party. I would recommend again!

Wait staff was very friendly n pleasant. Food n drinks were average. Had better of both... Skirt steak tasted great, but not as tender as most other places. My wifes steak salad was delicious. Drinks were a little watered down. The chocolate lava cake tasted microwaved. Cappuccino n expresso were great.. Dont know if you can really mess those up... Atmosphere was good.. Not an unpleasant meal, but not outstanding either.

Food was mediocre but staff is friendly.... most likely will go to other places in future for bar/pub/restaurant food. Shared steak bits that were just ok but highly recommended from waitress, however, for desert had a small cookie platter which was good not great/amazing and a size small was huge for 2 people. I was also surprised on prices on menu and the bill; was expecting less expensive considering the quality of food and atmosphere.

We had my daughters baby shower here today, and it was wonderful! We had a brunch and everything was delicious and plentiful. We also had a champagne punch, which everyone loved! The room was set up beautifully, the staff was friendly and very helpful and the price was very good! I would highly recommend MacArthur Park to anyone wanting to host a party. On a side note, a few of the husbands had food and drinks out in the main bar and they were equally impressed!
