Quick with drinks and answered all questions with insight and honesty❣️ So, service is awesome! My three meat was tasty and a reasonable portion. Great salty smoke bark on tender brisket; ribs tender and sweetish; sausage prolly not house-made, but good flavor; beans good and jalapeño corn is a Must! Her shrimp were crunchy and yummy and Brussels and broccoli both well-seasoned. So, food is awesome! Desserts looked good too, but we were full! Full bar, cold beer, sports on TV, and fun swag. Also just across from Shorty’s, which is convenient😎 Island Q…who knew? We do!

Professional service. The food was amazing. I had the smoked turkey and jalapeno cheddar sausage plus the cream jalapeno corn and fries. He had the brisket and jalapeno cheddar sausage, mashed potatoes and cornbread. It absolutely exceeded our expectations. The quality of the meat was great and flavor delicious. Will absolutely be going back.

Lovely eatery, food very nice, staff polite. Prices reasonably too The reason for 4 stars for food, although the food was excellent, my pulled pork was cold, perhaps it's the way it's always served there, but I prefer it hot. Thank you for a lovely experience. We will visit again on our next visit from England middle of next year

We visited this spot recently and had a mixed experience. On the positive side, the food was genuinely good — flavorful and served in generous portions that left us more than satisfied. The ambiance was pleasant, and there was ample parking available on a weekday, though I can imagine weekends might get pretty crowded. Our waitress was lovely — attentive and kind, checking in both before and after our meal to make sure everything was to our liking. That kind of service really makes a difference. Unfortunately, our experience at the front desk was disappointing. The woman who greeted us was noticeably rude and dismissive, which made us feel unwelcome. There was an uncomfortable undertone to the interaction that felt, frankly, a bit discriminatory. It cast a shadow over what could have been a great visit. Overall, the food and table service were commendable, but the front-of-house experience needs serious improvement. I hope the management takes this feedback seriously — every guest deserves to feel welcome from the moment they walk in.

We got blackened shrimp and a 2-meat plate. The shrimp was delicious. The BBQ had good smoke flavor. They have 2 kinds of BBQ sauce on the table. One reminds me of a Carolina sauce. The other is closer to a Texas sauce but it has an interesting spice to it, just enough enough to add a kick, not overpowering. The pinto beans were excellent. Enjoyed eating outside on the deck.

The brisket was soooooo good!!! Tender, juicy, smokey and delicious. The pork ribs were out of this world!! Super meaty, almost fall off the bone, flavorful and not messy what so ever, which was a definite plus! The mac n cheese was super cheesy and tasted homemade. You can tell they put a lot of effort into the quality of their meals. Will absolutely be going back and well worth the money!! 10/10 would highly recommend!!

Our waiter Joshua was fantastic! He had a great attitude and was very accommodating throughout the night! The food selection isn't very detailed on the menus provided. There isn't a very wide selection of seafood entrees and is more of a barbecue spot if you ask me. The portions were very generous! The blackened fish and shrimp were delicious! The fried seafood platter had a little too much breading for my liking and the broccoli was a little too watery as well. Pretty great spot for big parties! Had over 20 people in our group, and even though we sat outside it wasn't too bad with all of the fans and breeze in the evening.

It's great bro! The corn bread is amazing and the brisket was on point tender and juicy. Notice my Blue Hawaiian 🍸 🧉 👌🏼 Atmosphere was cool, very Texas and very beachy! The only issue i experienced was it was a bit hot in the restaurant. I didn't want to sit outside because it was hot but we probably should have maybe the breeze would have been better. We were sweating it was pretty warm in August.

We were able to get seated on a Saturday night and have a nice family meal which I appreciated. Our waiter struggled because of a big top that needed a lot of attention. I wish his coworkers had helped check on us or deliver our food/ask if we needed anything. My brisket was so fatty it wasn't worth what I paid for after what I was able to actually eat. I wish they would have given me the option of lean when I ordered.

The bbq nachos were really good, we got them with pork and with the bbq sauce on the side. The cheese has a really good flavor to it. I got the fried chicken and it was really good and juicy but it was very greasy on the bottom of the chicken. I wish that they could drain it better before putting it on the plate. The Mac and cheese tasted better on my last visit, this time it was a little too dry (not creamy/cheesy enough). The cornbread was really good especially with butter. The rib was plain, would not get it again (I prefer ribs that are saucy and glazed). The restaurant was very clean. Our server was friendly. The man at the front counter was also friendly but not the blonde woman (maybe she had a bad day). But still had a overall good vibe to the restaurant. Would return in the future.

We went early on a Monday post season because our intended dining spot was closed. It initially seemed peacefully quiet and there was no line. We ordered a margarita and a draft beer to start. The marg was a little sweet but tasted good, but the beer was totally flat and barely cool. We sent that back right away and got something bottled. The armadillo egg appetizer came out so fast we knew it was probably reheated, but it actually tasted ok, albeit not hot or melty in the middle. My husband ordered ribs and jalapeño sausage. The sausage was ok but the ribs were tough and unpleasantly bitter and his sides were lukewarm. The Brussels sprouts were burnt and the Mac and cheese was bland. He didn't even want to take the ribs home, and he never wastes meat! My shrimp were small and cooked ok but were served with what tasted like plain melted margarine, even though the menu stated they would come with Cajun butter. The rice they came with was bland and again, not hot. While we were finishing our drinks it became suddenly very crowded and chaotic. As we were searching for our server to bring the check, a senior employee (manager?) asked if she could seat a few other people at our 6 top table. We were completely understanding about that since we were fixing to leave soon anyway, but we were quickly invaded by a half dozen unruly children, who encroached on our dining space like feral raccoons. The two adults with them had no apparent control over them whatsoever and their lack of basic manners was appalling. In fact, by that point, the overall child to adult ratio on the outside deck was about five to one. The manager lady just shrugged and said "we love our community" as if being visitors made us less welcome than ants at a picnic. We paid $124 plus a 20% tip (the initial server was nice and none of this was her fault) for a hurried and unpleasant meal just to be run off by whatever in the Lord of the Flies was happening out there.

I wanted to leave a raving review I REALLY did. We used to LOVE this place but we both feel it's changed now. Not sure what it is. It's not the best BBQ you'll ever have and not the best in the area either anymore.. My shrimp was still slightly frozen when biting them and it definitely wasn't what I expected for a shrimp cocktail. The mashed potatoes were like massive 1-2 inch chunks of potato, which I absolutely did not recall. The chunks were also undercooked making it not a great side overall. I had to eat around the chunks because of the fact they were hard. Coleslaw was again, okay. I didn't not like my turkey at all it was super dry, again, I remember it being juicy and amazing before. The jalapeño sausage however was still great! My husband liked his meal, but when we did our most recent BBQ ranking they didn't make his Top 5 anymore.

MacDaddy's Family Kitchen was yet another Port Aransas, TX, restaurant that said we would have a 45-minute wait, yet, seated us way earlier than anticipated. Indoor and outdoor seating was available, but I know the kids were a little low energy from the heat, so we wanted inside. Our waiter, while nice, was forgetful about several things. He apologized profusely when he forgot my daughter's tartar sauce after three times requesting it. I opted for the "Barnyard Burger" ($18) which entailed a "1/4 lb beef patty, cheddar cheese (by request), sliced smoked sausage, topped with a fried (sunny side up) egg." For my side, I had the delicious lightly oily house chips. All of the sides were made from scratch. The sausage was really good and my patty was okay - cooked medium to my liking. My kiddos both received kid's meal. My oldest enjoyed her flaky white fried fish and tater tots. Afterwards, they both got to make fabulous swirl ice cream cones. Private lot parking was available. service was a little weird, we were told the wait was 1.5-2 hours and it was only 40 mins, and there was another instance where our waiter was rude to another table. BUT the food was really good i got the macdaddy's burger and i like it a lot even im not really a burger person.

Very good BBQ spot the corn bread was very tasty and the butter so sweet. I got the lemon pepper smoked and fried wings mac and cheese and corn bread super good but didn't taste much lemon was more of a butter sauce. We also had the jalepeno sausage with their spicy BBQ sauce was good! KIDS GET FREE ICE CREAM.

Fast and friendly service, but the food is pretty average maybe even below average for BBQ. Brisket and ribs were not tender. Most of the brussel sprouts were burnt. Mac & cheese was bland. Enjoyed the sausage. I didn't try their seafood, so I can't comment there. Good portion sizes though, but overpriced for the quality. Expected better after reading the previous reviews. As a native Texan, this BBQ isn't the kind I'd go out of my way for or call delicious. Comfortable seating outdoors! A bit loud inside.

Tried the smashed potato Lunch Special. Very good with the chili. Didn't know about the bottle of BBQ sauce on the table or I would have gotten the pulled pork. Well worth the trip. Service is always excellent.

We've been coming to MacDaddy's for a couple years and the service is always great. Overall it's pretty good. The nacho's are really tasty, At lunch I like the brisket sandwich with fries $17.00. The togo menu has a picnic pack that includes 8 pieces of good fried chicken, with two large sides and a gallon of tea for $40.00. It's a great deal!

Best dessert in the island! Everything we had there was great! We wish we could have the dessert shipped home.

I've been going to Port A for years and my go to restaurant has always been the move BUT when I tell you this place will be on my future rotations! Seriously delicious all the way around. Try the bbq nachos because those could be a meal on its own. Plus the free ice cream was a plus

Good selection of seafood! The blackened shrimp & fried shrimp turned out really good, especially coming from someone who normally doesn't go for shrimp! The fish was alright. Cornbread was alright. The seafood paired great with some tartar sauce on the side. They had the order ready quickly. Ambiance is rustic.

This place was delicious and I'd definitely go back. The brisket was an extra charge and had no flavor so I probably wouldn't order it again but everything else was on point. The cornbread was by far my favorite so far. It was so moist, it just melted in your mouth.

Service sit for 20 min waiting on service three tables came in after us got food asked for manger waited Anthony 10 min manger said they were short staff witch is bs there were thee different servers that help the three tables that were seated after us

The food is fantastic! Maya our waitress was on top of things. She explained anything we had questions about. Great job Maya! Portion sizes are a good size. I had the sausage which came with 2 sides. I chose the chili and Mac-n-cheese. I absolutely LOVED the chili! The macaroni was good as well! My husband got the brisket/sausage with jalapeño cream corn and coleslaw. As well we had corn bread. The brisket was expertly cooked. It was so tender and the bark was perfect! I was amazed as I am not a big BBQ person. Coleslaw had some BBQ sauce in the recipe. The cornbread isn't sweet but is fantastic! Our overall experience with this restaurant is very satisfied! If you can find a seat I recommend you try it!!! We loved everything we had! Kudos!

Food is delicious and plentiful! Pecan Pie is so big, we had to get a to go box. We had a new waitress, so another waitress stepped in to help - can't complain about the service. Our order came out quick! Classic bbq joint atmosphere.

The food here was delicious. We chose it by a google search not a recommendation. Everyone loved their food but a personal favorite was the MacDaddy burger. Food was fresh, temperature appropriate, and our waiter was great! Would definitely go back. Prices were also appropriate and servings were generous. You won't make a mistake ordering from here that's for sure!

Busy, big party, we'll see. 45 minute wait, not worth Beer is on tap, you can't screw that up. The mixed drink are crap, plus had to wait for ever at the bar, one bartender. Mac daddy's, needs a better daddy. I am happy to say, that the food almost made up for this experience. The brisket was moist, and good. Had a bit of bark, which is what I had wanted. Waiter didn't know what I was talking about when I asked for burnt ends. Good thing I didn't ask him what wood they cook with. The sides were decent, we had the beans and potato salad, with jalapeños. We had a three meat plate, brisket, chicken and sausage. Sausage was cold, I didn't send it back, cause we were hungry. I was really disappointed with the bartender, just one bartender for the whole restaurant, waited for her to acknowledge us while she did other orders. Felt like we weren't important. Had to return one of our drinks. I guess customer service isn't important to her. The ambience is super chill, cause we are at the coast. No shirts, no shoes, almost service. The waiter was cool enough to given us cones for ice cream.

When we were first seated, it took about 15 minutes before anyone acknowledged us, and it was actually the host who ended up checking on us and bringing waters since our server was MIA. Thankfully, another waiter named John noticed the situation. Even though we weren't his table, he was so apologetic and immediately stepped in to help. He had such a great attitude, was super attentive, and made sure our order was taken care of right away. The food came out fast, hot, and absolutely delicious. John completely turned around what started as a frustrating experience, and because of him, we left very satisfied. We'll definitely be asking for John next time!

Had another great meal here when we were in Port A! Bbq was great, the cornbread was wonderful, and we enjoyed our meal. It was pretty warm in the restaurant so that made it a little uncomfortable but I guess it's hot outside and probably hard to cool off during the heat of the summer.

Came in here to this very popular place in Port A, it was a large group for my family, but we immediately got sat as soon as we walked in. The server was very on point with assisting us and getting the orders in as soon as possible. The wait for the food was a long while. I would not recommend the fish, as it tastes like freezer food. I don't know though! The drinks (margaritas) tasted super syrupy which didn't turn out to be that great. The BBQ was very cold so I don't know how to feel about this place. I wouldn't recommend.

MacDaddy's has bbq, fried chicken, fish, and shrimp. I got the lemon pepper shrimp. The shrimp, broccoli, and rice were all cooked perfectly. The shrimp had a great flavor and tasted good with the butter sauce. I got to taste the MacDaddy's burger too which was tender and delicious with their barbecue sauce.

Never made it in the door. Parked & were looking forward to trying their food. But when we saw the large Ted Cruz sign hanging on their front entry, we got back in our vehicle and drove away. Sorry, but it is well after the election & time to take your sign down. No thank you.

Food was great, we were a family of 6 people they got us In and out. We assumed at 3:00 it would be non-hot burnt leftovers from lunch. We were clearly served the opposite, great service as well.

Wife and I are in Port Aransas for the weekend and we stopped by MacDaddy's for lunch. We were greeted and immediately seated at a table. Our waiter immediately came over and started our order. Our food didn't take long to arrive my wife had the fried fish platter and I had the dagwood. Most folks that came in requested to be seated outside.

Great experience from beginning to end. Friendly staff. Waitress is amazing. Food was good. We got chili and cheese tater tots for the appetizer and they were great. Shrimp, with Mac n cheese and their jalapeño corn for my meal. All was great. Ended with a peach cobbler and ice cream.

This place was really nice! All the servers were kind and made sure you had a good experience. The Shrimp was VERY tasty, and the soft serve that they have is to die for! If you're in the area, GO TO MACDADDYS!

I don't even know where to start with how awesome the food was here, my family of 7 was told it would be a 30 minute wait which ended up being only a 15 minute wait which was great having 3 toddlers and a baby. We sat outside and the outside fans made it feel great, we got 3 kids meals and the 3 meat plate and lemon pepper grilled shrimp and fish. The seafood was amazing but let me tell you about the ribs .... Beautiful fell right off the bone! We all picked jalapeno cream corn, mashed potatoes, Mac n cheese, Brussels sprouts and rice which were all fantastic. We will definitely be back for more!

Food was ok. Nothing special. Nothing bad to say. It was fine. Had the fried red fish and it was ok. Cole slaw was good. Chili queso fries were good. My daughter hated the burger. It was very heavy on garlic salt and she didn't eat but a few bites. I tried it and agreed. It was all just ok. Maybe because we didn't get the bbq I just would say "it was fine." Service was great! Our waiter was a sweet teenage boy and he did a great job. Ambiance was good! The place is laid back and can accommodate outside groups.

Bad experience. My family was visiting from out of town for my niece's birthday and eating here was her only request. Online says they close at 10, but we have a large group so I called ahead. I asked if there would be an issue seating a large group at 8:30 (thinking they close at 10) and was told it'd be fine. We arrived at 8:45 and weren't seated, as they close at 9. Another couple walked in after us and they were sat so thinking they didn't want a large group? Bad experience.

If you like bar b q sandwiches You have got to experience the Dagwood sandwich Pulled pork, brisket, sausage and cheese so good !

Just wanted to say thank you to Kris, it was a crazy busy night in the restaurant but she was very persistent in making sure our requests were fulfilled. Even as far as making sure there was no cross contamination due to a food allergy, thank you Kris

The bartender does not know about customer service. We sat at the bar for a while before he even acknowledged us. Asked us what we wanted without asking if we were dining at the bar, we had to as for menus. We came from San Antonio for a second try at this place. Never again!

Food was great! The Mac and cheese was delicious!! So was the fried shrimp!! Service and atmosphere was fine!...prices were slightly high but I would definitely come back!

The BBQ seemed to be the focus, so we both opted for BBQ related items. I got the Smoked Turkey-good smoked flavor, and a generous serving. The corn is GREAT and the potato salad much better than your average fare. My wife got the chili and a side of Brussels Sprouts. The chili had a good kick, and the Brussels were nicely cooked with a simple preparation. The hot BBQ sauce has a nice kick. We sat at the bar (it seats 6) and got great service even though the bartender was covering for the whole restaurants' drinks. Very reasonable prices, and great food and service!

Very good. We had the brisket nachos, BBQ and a burger. Nothing amazing but what we had was good. Service was very good. They do charge a 20% tip (party of 6) which as a customer I hate. I will tip based on service which in this case was great. I would have tipped more but since they automatically charge 20%, I won't support that.

AMAZING!! Everything we got was sooooo good. This is the best place we've eaten at between Port A and Rockport. We would eat here all day everyday if we could!!

Excellent service! Be sure to ask for the Armadillo Eggs. They keep their own Armadillos and collect fresh eggs daily. The eggs are stuffed with sausage and wrapped in bacon. Delicious & reasonably priced. The Surfers & Fishing Guides in Port A love this special Texas treat.

The coke was good. I am always happy to order from the kids Menu. Getting pulled pork. Waited a while for the server. I decided to get Mac and cheese and salad. The salad was delicious. The pulled pork was okay but Not my favorite. I liked the Mac and cheese a lot. I enjoyed the ribs. The potato salad was good.

Our waiter was attentive and made sure we were comfortable during our lunch. The food was quite tasty, especially the BBQ sandwiches that stood out. Overall, the atmosphere was pleasant, making it a great spot for enjoying a meal and spending time with friends. The open layout, which includes both indoor and outdoor seating, adds to the experience. This place is definitely worth a visit when you're in Port A!

Worth the wait - just me & the kiddos for dinner last night, got in sitting outside immediately. Food was delicious, great service and fun vibes! Highly recommend the surf & bbq platter - the brisket was Texas quality and the fried shrimp biggest ever seen! Yum

Service was absolutely terrible. My party was denied service because they were apparently closing soon but then they sat a party of 2 after they wouldn't seat us. I also overheard the staff saying they were tired from an earlier large group so lied about closing early.

Go for the BBQ! I don't think I'd recommend anything else, but the BBQ really hits. This is a casual eatery with relaxed, beach decor. Nice location with parking. Our service was fine and this really isn't anything to rave about. It's an easy lunch spot or good for when everything else has a wait out the door.
