Me and my friend came on a Monday night and were seated immediately outside. The patio was great for people watching. We ordered some steak tacos with the help of our friendly waiter, Nick. Nick was super kind, chill, and fun to talk to! The tacos were reasonably priced and came out super quick. I liked the colorful plates too. Overall a great experience and I would definitely go back and try more of the tacos!

Google
Just WOW! This place has a fun and exciting atmosphere but the tacos and tequila really blew us away! We had 4 different tacos, it’s hard to pick a favorite but the steak and chili relleno was so unique! My husband had the tequila flight and was not disappointed. We will be back!!

Google
Delicious food. We got the 12 tacos for 57$ and regretted it ONLY because the tacos were massive!! The deal was amazing, food was delicious, and DRINK WAS STRONG!! Also a cute little bar in general.

Google
Machete is probably my favorite taco place im denver. Its a bit bougie and expensive but the tacos are delish and the margs are the bomb. We got a bunch of tacos tonight and the huitlacoche quesadilla which was huge!

Google
This is a great restaurant with an extensive menu in downtown Denver. Fantastic tacos and margaritas. Great spot to relax before an event.

Analise Berry

Google
I spent $40 on 3 drinks (2 shots 1 marg) and esquites. WORST esquites I’ve ever had: they soaked the corn in water like a soup, and because of that, the spices diluted immediately. I’m only rating 2 stars because the service was great and the atmosphere was cool.

Google
Amazing service! Make sure to tip these guys well if you get a chance. They all do their job with a smile on their face. Food was GREAT! Would definitely come back for hibiscus margaritas on ice and TACOS!

Google
Good food! Came with some friends and order the party size tacos. They are not truly street tacos but still great tacos. One down thing is they do not offer spicy salsa for the tacos. We asked for the spicy salsa and it was not hot at all. But overall highly recommend!!
google avatar

Cait Z.

Yelp
We enjoyed our meal here! The service was fast, attentive, and reasonable prices! I really enjoyed the hibiscus margarita and their house selection of salsas. The seating is a bit crowded, but would defiantly come again for a happy hour.

Yelp
Great experience! Came here at noon and the place was packed and bustling with business people having lunch. Ordered a pineapple margarita with a takin rim which was delicious. The guacamole and spicy sauces were great and you can tell they make their own chips, which I appreciate. Ordered the shrimp taco & birria taco - both delicious and filling. Service was great, very accommodating and quick!

Yelp
Great vibe, hidden gem in Cherry Creek- awesome tequila options, good service and amazing tacos. Highly recommend and great old school hip in the background- Highly recommend

Yelp
If you're looking for a great spot near Cherry Creek Mall to grab tacos and drinks, this place is a must-try! The atmosphere inside is lively and fun, with a moderate amount of seating, making it a great spot to hang out. The tacos were solid--delicious with a nice variety of options. But the real standout was the warm queso. It's definitely a must-order--creamy, cheesy, and just perfect to dip into with some chips. Highly recommend checking it out for a casual, tasty meal!
google avatar

Yelp
My tacos always seem to arrive cold. Unaure if that's a kitchen issue, or lagging staff. That said, they do have a couple of vegan options, but how hard would it be to just get some other vegetables onto a tortilla? The watermelon and jalapeño margaritas are pretty epic though. Casual sports bar atmosphere for folx who dig that.
google avatar

Rachel W.

Yelp
Great tacos and even better margaritas. Grabbed a bite here on the recommendation of a friend after leaving union station. Tacos are packed full of flavorful ingredients and will definitely fill you up. Service was attentive. Dug the overall vibe of the place and would certainly return next time I find myself in Denver.

Yelp
Had a quick lunch here, the vibe is very vibrance despite the dark interior. Service was very fast. I'd say the chip were the star of the show, its the type that taste less corny (if you know you know). All the salsas were really bland in my opinion. But the queso fundizo with chorizo was really good! A tastey snack size I must say. But other than that the taco as well as quesadilla was very mid. I'd recommend come for snacking and not meals.

Blake M.

Yelp
I got the beef tongue, pastor and birria tacos. The pastor is better than mine, my birria is better but not by much. The beef tongue was perfection. They have my favorite tequila (Espolon). Just come eat here, it's fantastic. If you don't like it, you're wrong.

Yelp
The food is great. The service not so great! I want to give this place 5 stars, but all 3 times I've been, we have been pretty invisible to the wait staff, which is disappointing. The tacos are great though. Just not sure I will be back for a 4th try. 3 times in and same 3 times forgotten about or overlooked. The guy next to me had the same issues as well the last time we were on.
google avatar

Britney B.

Yelp
So much tequila!! This place is cute and hip. The prices are really steep tho. That's one of the downfalls. And the drinks are little and not very strong to be $17. So in that aspect I was disappointed. With the prices so high when dining out-you don't want to feel taken advantage of. The food was decent, but also very high prices. $18 for a shrimp quesadilla. The server was nice and had some great recommendations. I would still come back....and keep it to a one drink minimum!

Yelp
Got into Denver on the A-train from the airport and was starving! Saw Mechete right across the street from Union Station. This is a must eat at place! The menu is large and incredible. They also have many options for those with cerrtain dietary needs (gluten free, vegan). If you like margarita's they have the best hands down! I go the cadicallac which has a topper of grand marnier. YUM. We started out with the Guacamole appetizer. This is not your little appetizer! Not only did it come with guacamole (super good) it comes with a taster of different salsas! Must start! I picked the 3 vegan tacos (one needs to be w/out cheese) and they were packed with veggies and it is so filling! MENU NOTE: my partner got the Calma Borracho. This is really a shareable and not a single meal! It is huge! and a ton of food! Eat local. Go to Machete's and grab a marg and taco's!
google avatar

Yelp
Delicious tacos! Came after doing a microbrew tour so we were pretty hungry. Ordered 3 tacos and they were incredibly good. The chips and salsas were all good. Guacamole was fresh. The drinks were okay, nothing crazy The bartenders were nice and attentive Definitely recommend for some tacos done right in Denver.

Rou R.

Yelp
Since 2021 this place had a major overhaul in quality. The food is inedible, everything is sticky, and the severs are awful. Like look for a new job awful. The one in cherry creek is a far better value. Better service, ambiance, quality, etc.
google avatar

Yelp
I went for lunch with coworkers and the restaurant was busy which was expected of Union Station. The inside was a little... interesting? My 2 complaints are the chairs were wobbly and it took us 20 minutes to get the check which was a bit annoying. We got a chips and guac and a Taquiza (12 tacos in the picture) containing 2 Arrachera, 1 Campechano, 3 Al Pastor, 1 Quesabirria, 1 Tinga, 1 Pescado, 1 Camaron, 2 De La Milpa. The chips and guac were fresh and home made. I thought they were both awesome and loved the thickness and crunch of the chips paired with the creamy guac. I had the Arrachera, Quesabirria, and Campechano tacos. The Arrachera and Quesabirria were average and lacked salt but the Campechano was so good! I think the chorizo in it really brought out the flavor with the saltiness. Overall I would go again and try the Al Pastor because my coworkers said those were the best they tried.

Yelp
Stopped by on a weekday for a bite with a a few friends - Food: the food was filling but felt overpriced. We decided to grab the 12 tacos (make your own taquiza) and was surprised the tacos were ok. At first I thought it might be gimmicky but they were ok Machete - good Al pastor - good Lengua - not everyone's favorite but my friends liked it. If you are not a texture person I would skip. Áracherra - good Queso fundido - my favorite part - who doesn't love cheese! Guacamole - could be better - was just ok Service: Got sat right away The server checked on us often and was funny Ambiance: It's trendy and cool Inside seating will be louder than outdoors but was nice and fresh
google avatar

Gigi A.

Yelp
We came with a group of friends and we had a great time The Shishito peppers with Fresno aioli was fantastic! A must try. We ordered the Guacamole and salsa and ceviche which were fresh and tasty. There were so many amazing taco choices. You cant go wrong here. The atmosphere was a little loud but we still managed to hear one another. The waitress was attentive and helpful.

Yelp
Come here often for lunch and also happy hour after work ($3 off all margs) Excellent tacos and have always left so satisfied. Whether I'm here with a group of 8 or 2, the service is always so quick and great. Great place to stop by in downtown!
google avatar

Scott B.

Yelp
Pros: Salsa Tacos Cons: Margaritas Chips (stale) Enchiladas (I think cat food has more flavor) Ambiance
google avatar

Michelle A.

Yelp
Thank you @ The Rally's "Taylor" front desk person. Your recommendation of Machete was spot on. Service was great and the food was FABULOUS! Must try the Arrachera street tacos. At minimum, you should order at least two tacos as they are smaller in size. You have the option of ordering it on a corn or flour tortilla. I opted for corn. Place is great for groups, however, don't bet on them giving out individual receipts, at best, they allowed us to split the bill into two parties (which did not help us out). Ambience = dark. Very low lighting. Decor is rustic "Dia de Los Muertas". Cool music vibe not too loud and you can still hear the conversation at your table. This was a work function so no one in our group ordered anything from the bar. Coming from California where we have a lot of Mexican restaurants (tapas) this is definitely a place I highly recommend.
google avatar

Yelp
Yummy food, fast service, and great vibes. Cheap and I would highly recommend. Would go again!
google avatar

Danielle F.

Yelp
Don't remember all the names of the ones we tried but doesn't matter cause they're ALL SO GOOD. Great prices too as the individual ones are all 4-6 dollars each. The vibe inside is really cool too as it has a chill dark lighting to it & very nice AC for a hot day out. 4/5 stars though cause our waiter had a poor attitude the whole time & actually just left the restaurant w/o letting us know so we stood around waiting for someone to give us checks & no one came, just to find out he had left his shift.... Which is understandable after a long shift BUT at least let your customers know you're heading out!
google avatar

Katie K.

Yelp
The food was surprisingly amazing. We had read reviews but I'm so picky I didn't think I'd really like any of the specialty tacos but I was wrong!! The lobster one had a delicious sauce on it and the taco with tiny hash browns was amazing!! I went simple with a steak and cheese quesadilla but I'm now regretting my decision to not get the lobster taco wrapped and in a squid ink shell...
google avatar

Maggie S.

Yelp
Service was good and prompt. The food came out super quickly, which was awesome. I got the guacamole, which was good. The chips are thicker, almost like pita chips, and not super salty. Additionally, the queso was thick and not super melted but good. Vegetarian tacos were reportedly good. Machete margarita was NOT good. The waitress shared it had no mix and was just lime juice, tequila, agave, and triple sec (with no premade mix), but it simply didn't taste good. She brought sprite out to add a "mixer" of sorts, but it just watered it down and didn't make it better. I don't know if we just have poor taste in margs or what, but I couldn't even stomach to drink half. Atmosphere is dark and a little spooky, but I enjoyed the vibe.

Yelp
Drop in to grab dinner before concert. The ambiance of the place was vibing and packed. We got lucky and got a table for two with no wait at the 5:30 hour. We started off with day. Lol I got the Kona and she got the oaxacan. The drinks were on par and immediately ceased the sweat on our foreheads! Lol It was a hot a** day. My friend got tacos ( pollo rotizado, al pastor, arrachera and I got the arrachera quesadilla. My gf said her tacos were delicious and I thought my quesadilla was ok. I've had better. I will have to say the cheese and shishito peppers was the most yummiest that I enjoyed from the quesadilla. Lol. We opted for dessert and got their house made churro and shared it. Probably the best churro I've had in a very long time. Overall, I most enjoyed my drink and the churro. The place is ok and prices reasonably. I'd come back for drinks and churros for sure.

Jessie M.

Yelp
We were on a timeline for tickets and tried to get ramen but the wait was going to be too long for our (timed entry) plans. Happened to look up and see this place. It looked like it had character and who doesn't like a taco and margarita before the fun begins? Machete turned out to be much more than that, drinks were creative and interesting, service was outstanding and the food, oh my gosh the food. Everything was flavor packed, from the vegetarian taco to my friend's chile rellenos. Ambience was chill with great music, a little dia de los muertos theme, kind of church tavern-ish if you're ever in Tacoma. It was a bit pricey ($70-ish after tax and tip for 2 margaritas, 2 tacos, and a chile rellenos) or I would give it 5 stars. Sidebar: they could probably make a killing on swag if they ever decide to, that logo was awesome!
google avatar

Ralph J.

Yelp
Food was excellent , the barbacoe tacos very good . Try the Lobster tacos ( not on menus so Ask ) it's excellent !! The Spicy Rico margarita was great , Here's why not 5 stars . The tacos are very small for the prices, And while deciding on what to get and waiting for my wife to return from the bathroom, the waitress said I'll just get you some chips while u look over the menu. She charged me for the nachos! , I never ordered them ? I've been to thousands of Mexican Restuarants including one the day before up the street and if they just bring you chips and salsa there free. O well .

Yelp
Food: 50/50 Service: 25/25 Ambience: 25/25 Total: 100/100 My absolute favorite go to spot to eat in downtown Denver. I am not a Denver native but dare I say these are the best tacos in town!?! TBH, I originally went to the Cherry Creek location first, but this Union Station location is equally amazing. Hubby & I love coming for the HH 3-6p on M-F. The arrachera is the go to HH taco. We try to order one HH taco and one regular taco so it's economical:) My hubby will usually get pollo rotizado taco and I love ordering the pescado taco (usually mahi mahi fish). I love how consistently delicious their tacos are. Same with their chips and salsas! Guac and queso fondido are also yummy apps definitely recommend! PS-- parking around here is tricky, if you can take a scooter!
google avatar

Megan J.

Yelp
Walked in during an unexpectedly snowy night and happy I did considering how dead the rest of this area felt. Bartender 5/5 Playlist 5/5 Bar company 5/5 (heyyyy random group of ladies that let me join in your convo sporadically) Tacos 4/5 -- they got the job done, but it's very obvious they're built for efficiency and less attention to flavor/freshness. You order and they're out in 2 min. I had one quesabirria as well as the veggie and the veggie was above & beyond my fave of the two. I've had a damn good quesabirria as this one was just...no comparison, but I was hungry enough so it was good. Nothing super duper write home to mom & tell her to get the first flight to Denver, but when I'm need, it'll do. Especially think this would be a great spot for a big group.
google avatar

Corina E.

Yelp
The tacos are just ok. I ordered the Tripe, but they did not come out crispy. Our server ordered another one for me and it tasted much better. The Hibiscus margarita was pretty good. The chips and salsa was ok for an appetizer. Three stars for ambiance. The building is very old which presents problems. I will say that the bartender and manager did a great job with taking care of a major problem that made me and my friend uncomfortable.
google avatar

Jeff L.

Yelp
Hijole! I cannot say enough good things about this place...visited with a big group of friends, and from the outset everything clicked off with great success. Our Denver friend had called ahead for the table, given the size of our group... The table was ready to go, all set with place-settings, water glasses, and a stack of menus. Joy was our primary server, and she was indeed a "joy" -- professional, friendly, attentive; the other wait-staff were right there as well. The chips and salsa (a cuatro of delicious options / heats) flowed consistently, as often as asked. The beverage options were legion -- after a Victoria beer and shot of Mezcal, I opted for a Sayulita on one of friends recommendation, was PERFECTO! Generously made, combo of Casamigos Silver Tequila, Minced Habanero Muddled Cucumber & Orange, Fresh Lime, Agave, Tajin on rim...FANTASTICO! I had the Salmon Tacos and they were among the most tasty and well-portioned tacos I've ever had. Big hunks of fish, perfectly seasoned with Morita Aioli, Mexican Truffle, Crispy Bacon, and splashed with Squid Ink Tequila -- QUE DELICIOSO !!! I will return to this fun, fantastic spot again and again, whenever I get the chance, whenever I am in Denver. PERFECTO!

Doug L.

Yelp
Had a great visit on a holiday, Service was on point, fast and attentive. Food and drinks were top notch as always. Kristin, our bartender, was fun, engaging and very sweet. Recommend the shisito peppers, chile relleno and the El Perro de Majete. ,
google avatar

Abbey L.

Yelp
Salsa is not pictured was was so tasty with the four different options! Shrimp was my favorite but salmon was also packed with flavor! Fair price for everything!
google avatar

Audrey S.

Yelp
I ordered the chips and salsa, not knowing that it would come for four different salsas. The classic tomato and tomatillo based salsas were mild. I don't recall ever having fresno or jalapeño salsa before but I liked both of them. I ordered the tinga and arrachera tacos. The tinga taco was pretty basic but I added the fresno salsa to it and it was much better. The spice of the salsa paired well with the seasoning on the chicken. I really enjoyed the arrachera taco and the sirloin was perfect. I added the jalapeño salsa to it for an added kick.
google avatar

Danielle L.

Yelp
I love this place. Right next to union station and lovely tacos and tequila. The service here is always great. The food is solid. Nice location prior to any Rockies games and close by the union station if you need to transit outta downtown on a budget. We also love their tacos and drink selection. Shashitto pepper here are delicious with the dipping sauce too.
google avatar

Lara B.

Yelp
We visited after a Colorado Rockies game and it was the perfect walk from Coors Stadium for a quick dinner and drinks. We started with the Quest Funded with added chorizo and Ceviche Bandera - three ceviches that all have a unique flavor and the Jicama sticks were delicious! We went all in and did the 12 tacos for $52 (for 4 people). Some notable stand outs were the Arrachera Chile Relleno - the cheese + peppers = yum! And the Camaron with poblano pesto served on a Squid Ink Tortilla. We also sipped on some Spicy Rico's that had the perfect slight heat. Our server was attentive and had great recommendations. With its proximity to Union Station, we'll be back especially after other sporting events.
google avatar

Travis N.

Yelp
dang those were some great tacos! Of the four I tried, each one complemented the meat... It did not overpower or ignore the meat, the garnish and prep really honored the animal protein. Shocked by how good the salmon taco was. Margareta was good, but nothing special. Atmosphere was fun. Would return again.

Zach M.

Yelp
Meh.... We had food hit the table three times that wasn't ours and the service was just ok. The menu here is also super limited.... Go elsewhere.
google avatar

Jerry O.

Yelp
Fabulous tacos, an amazing Chile Relleno and chips with 4 delicious sauces = Mexican done right. I'm a fan, and until recently, Jamie was not. Now she is too! She had two vegan tacos and enjoyed them very much. The Chile Relleno is on a plate with crushed tomatoes. Sublime. Recommended!
google avatar

Dylan M.

Yelp
Stopped over at Machete before we went to the Rockies game in Denver. We were looking for a vibey Mexican joint to grab a bite at and the atmosphere looked like it was popping so we decided to stroll on in. In short, Machete's food is ok. The tacos are too expensive outside of Happy Hour to make the price feel worth it, so I went with one of the entrees instead. The chicken enchilada was tasty, though the sides were bizarre. Especially the rice, which didn't resemble Mexican cuisine whatsoever. While Machete may be a fun spot to catch a game or snag a happy hour drink, it's not really worth the time otherwise. The food is doesn't match the quality of its pricing, the chips aren't free, and the service is questionable. Will probably try somewhere else next time I am in town.
google avatar

Eddie C.

Yelp
Short hit: must try Absolutely delicious tacos! Was in Denver for a work trip and decided to try this place out. Being half-Mexican and from Texas, I was a little skeptical about how authentic these tacos could be, but boy was I surprised. Indeed these are in line with the best I've had. Absolute favorite: the barbacoa. The lamb is perfectly tender and seasoned. Just a pleasure to eat. Honorary mention: the Costilla was new on the menu on my second visit and it was loaded with flavor. The smoked avocado is a particularly nice touch. All in all, I have to hand it to Machete. Each taco builds flavors in layers so it's not a one-dimensional taco. The array is tortillas is also nice. 5 stars all around.
google avatar

Robbie R.

Yelp
Awesome spot for tacos right across from Union Station. Ordered a handful of tacos and the guac/chips and were not disappointed. I would suggest ~3+ tacos per person. Each is packed with amazing ingredients and flavor but they are street taco sized. Highly recommend the salmon, shrimp or al pastor tacos, but honestly I think it's tough to go wrong. Good cocktails, beers, and margaritas also on the menu. Definitely a great spot for happy hour, lunch, dinner, ANYTIME!
google avatar

Carolina H.

Yelp
Great spot across Union Station! Tacos are amazing, staff was friendly and their margaritas were strong but delicious so no complaints here. The decor was super fun and interesting to look at. Felt like I was in someone's artsy and industrial basement. It is on the pricier end.
google avatar

Stefanie C.

Yelp
Even thinking about eating at Machete puts a smile on my face. It's one of my favorite Mexico spots in town. Well, at least the LoDo location. I've come here for lunch, dinner, and takeout... they can get super busy if you want to dine in but I love that takeout is always an option. Their online ordering system is fantastic. Service here is wonderful. They're fast and efficient, though sometimes it gets frantic when it's a full house. My favorite thing to order on the menu so far is the Shrimp Quesadilla. Oh and the shishito peppers are to die for. Always get an extra side of those. The seasoning is perfect. All the above plus a side of chips and salsa... *chef's kiss*. For drinks, I usually get the Spicy Rico. So boozy and good. Rarely do I come to a restaurant more than once and if I do, I'll always try something different. Not at Machete. I've found the perfect combination of food and drink that keeps me coming back. Parking can be a challenge since it's right across from Union Station but totally worth the patience and perseverence!

Barbara A.

Yelp
This place has a cool vibe and the drinks were great but not cheap. Our waiter was friendly and attentive.
google avatar

April J.

Yelp
Definitely come here if you want to try a variety of tacos. The portion sizes are pretty decent. I ordered two Al Pastor and two margaritas. My bill came up to $50 including tip. I went with a girlfriend on a Saturday night and the restaurant was full not overcrowded, and they played really good music. It was a complete vibe and there are other restaurants and bars nearby, if you don't want the night to end.
google avatar

Manna C.

Yelp
Definitely a tasty spot for steak quesadilla and lengua tacos. One of the best steak quesadillas I've had. It was very juicy and tender steak. Lengua tacos were my next fave. Barbacoa taco was good but needed some extra sauce. Don't skip the chips and salsa - the pico de gallo one tasted very fresh. Where else can you go for pineapple infused tequila? Highly recommend the hibiscus margarita.
google avatar

Hailey D.

Yelp
Great service and great food! The cucumber marg and the hibiscus marg were both so good but if you don't like the taste of tequilla get the hibiscus. Tacos were good and authentic. Very messy also
google avatar

James B.

Yelp
Excellent! Unique take on traditional Mexican food. I ordered the Calma Borrachos... three meats in sauce on vegetables delivered much like traditional fajitas. Literally, the first corn tortillas I really liked. My vegan partner had a choice of three different tacos. She loved the jackfruit mushroom version, served on hibiscus tortillas. The only negative would be the pricing but considering it's proximity to Union Station in downtown Denver, the prices are understandable.
google avatar

Kathleen W.

Yelp
Holy moly. Where do I even begin with the wide variety of taste and deliciousness we experienced at this taco place. Being from California, having tasted tacos in Cancun, Cabo, NorCal and the most popular being in San Diego -- my partner and I were excited to see what Denver had to offer. My partner is from SoCal so he had quite the high expectations to meet. We ordered the Ceviche appetizer which included a sampler of three different ceviche. The colors were bright and appetizing -- it reminded me of a traffic light since it was green, a bit yellow and red. They had distinct tastes and could easily see which tasted better than the other. The gameplay is to select the order of 12 tacos. We ordered two lobster, two al pastor and pretty much all their most popular tacos. The food was so delicious and I was in cloud 9 with every bite. I love the varying tortilla wraps they throw in to change the taste pairings. :D Thank you Machete for quite the experience.
