Taqueria Casita Vizuet - Review - Austin - The Infatuation

"A few blocks south of Machetes Dona Leova on North Lamar, in the parking lot of the grocery La Buena Market, is Casita Vizuet. There are a few picnic tables underneath an awning with hand-painted lettering promoting things like pambazos, gorditas, huaraches, and machetes. The machetes here are huge - they claim to be 18 inches long. We didn’t check because we were too hungry to break out a tape measure, but that sounds about right. You can get two fillings in each machete, including pastor, barbacoa, and carnitas. And just like Casita Nicole, they have huitlacoche and squash blossoms. In case you’re still hungry, the machetes come with rice, beans, salad, and guacamole. We haven’t been here yet, but want you to know this spot exists." - Team Infatuation

The food was SO GOOD!!!! Machete half bistek and half chicken was outstanding! Salsa paired perfectly with the food! Rice was delish and charros beans were oh so tasty! Can't wait to go back and try more! Yummy! Thanks for the awesome food!!! 😋

Google
One of the best authentic, full flavored, umami, full of sensation type of Mexican food. Amazing freshness from all the lettuce, tomatoes, and cheese, it helps cut through the rich meats. I ordered a pambaso and tostas. A must try

Finally! The best Mexican food I've found with the biggest burrito! 🌮🌯 Excellent selection of meats. Besides Mexican food, they do have burgers and Sonora hor dogs if you are looking for something different. A big difference in flavor and quality from other restaurants in the area. Favorites are the burritos and the nachos. 🧑‍🍳🍽️ Service is quick, mostly there are no wait times but I have never gone on peek hours. Wait time is between 10-15 minutes. Limited sitting, photos with the wood tables is from an old location. 🅿️♿ Parking available but limited. You can park at the HEB if it is too full. 📞🕡 Schedule is spotty but they are open in the afternoon, mostly after 4pm but call ahead of time and check if they are open. 🛜📵 No wifi available. 💳💵 Bring cash just in case. Sometimes the network goes down for paying. Although it has only happened to me once.

No food pun this time that’s just cheesy 🌮🧀 Highlights: •Machetes •Aguas Frescas •Huge Portions Review: They have a very extensive menu that would satisfy any palate. I ordered a machete with half flor de calabaza (squash blossom) and the other campechano (which is a mixture of beef steak and chorizo). Both the sides had nice texture and flavors. But the star was the machete which had hints of smokiness from the charred chorizo, slight saltiness from the steak, delicious melted cheese, slight bitterness from the squash blossom and all layered on to a pan fried handmade tortilla. It was all washed down with a semi sweet and very refreshing Melon (Cantaloupe) agua fresca. Can’t wait to go back and try out their other food options. Rating: 10/10 Machete half campechano (beef steak and chorizo) half flor the calabaza (Squash Blossom)- 18 inch long quesadilla made with a handmade tortilla and stuffed with cheese and preferred protein. It comes with rice, beans, salad and avocado.

Update! Randomly drove by and they were open after 4pm. Food is unique and DELICIOUS! Great customer service, free parking and the vibe was positive. Nice seating area too. I highly recommend you give it a try. ** To avoid losing customers I do recommend they update the business hours on all platforms ASAP! Man, I was really excited to try this place! Reminded me of home. Mouth still watering. I had Planned to eat here the entire day but sadly when I showed up… no one was there… they were closed even though it was during the business hours listed :( I read other reviews that read their hours were spotty but as a consumer I’m going by the hours listed (11am-4pm) I’m really sad I didn’t get to experience this cuisine. I hate to give less than 5 stars but this is rating my true experience. If I can go back in the future I’ll update this review.

Google
We tried the machetes and they were delicious! Served with rice, beans, avocado, and diced tomatoes on a small bed of lettuce. I recommend "dining in" because the machete will not be cut in half and you'll experience the full magnificence of the dish.

Google
Today was my first time here, it was fantastic! Everything I bought was Delicious and it was still hot when I got home with it. The food is very flavorful, the birria, the machete, the torta's are all very very good! Even the beans were great, I ate everything on my plate! This is my new and favorite food truck, I hope they never leave! What a great menu, and it's all cooked perfectly!

Yelp
A hole in the wall spot with 2 food trucks. The service was good although predominately Spanish speaking. These are some the best quesabirria tacos I have had especially because the the amount of cheese. Can't wait to go back. They have some seating, all outdoor and was pretty quick for such fresh food

Yelp
Make a machete pilgrimage to Casita Vizuet. Bring a friend and split the quesobirria machete. It is a real treat.

Yelp
It's a wednesday night and I had a very random birria craving. I wanted to try somewhere new and landed on this spot. The lady who took my order was so kinda and it was a perfect opportunity for me to practice my spanish! I am not going to post their price but let me just say I got 4 quesabirria tacos and beans for a price uncommon in austin! I will be back, very delicious. also -- I've never had birria with rice in it!

Yelp
If you want huge portions of food, this is the place to go. If you get scared by some bit high prices, it is because it is worth it. Food is fresh and customized. Im a vegetarian and they are more than happy to sub meats for rice, veggies, or beans. It is a food truck with plenty of seating, but it is a bit hidden and not much parking. They close late and is a perfect place to go feast around 11pm (if you're hungry)

Yelp
I ordered the machete which is huge! I wasn't sure what kind of meat options they have but I got the campechano (?) but they mentioned they also do a birria version of the machete too. My sister got the quesabirria which comes with 3 tacos and a consume. They have 2 types of salsa, the red was the spicier one but they are both very flavorful. It's incredibly filling and such a delicious meal. 10/10 The food truck is hidden inside a private car lot so parking may be hit or miss so maybe park at the H-E-B and walk over if it looks full. They were friendly and mentioned that my sister and I got their two most popular menu items. There may be a slight language barrier if you don't speak Spanish. Note cash is best as there is a $1 charge for using card

Yelp
Was in Austin for some work and stayed close by and was in the mood for some tacos. The YELP in me quickly looked up and found this place. It was a 6 minute drive from my hotel. I called in my order and it is located in a car lot with very little parking. It was night time so I had no problem, lady that took my order was very friendly. I ordered a machete which is just a machete shaped corn quesarilla filled with your choice of meat. I have to say it was on point. The salsa, in particular the red one is very good. I also had a cucumber lime water and is was very refreshing. Overall great food!

Yelp
This food truck is closeby intersections wells branch and pflugerville parkway tucked away behind HEB so it's a bit hard to find but once you do, it's magical. The food is incredible, the first words I think of are "umami". It's full flavored, rich, buttery, crispy, fresh, just hits all the flavors. You get tang, sour, sweet, spicy, bitter (from the red salsa) overall amazing authentic Mexican restaurant. In my opinion, top 10 I've been too in Austin. Every dish is on point, the freshness of the avocado, lettuce, onions, tomatoes, the crispness of the beef, the sponginess of tortilla, the creaminess of the cheese, the nice cheese pull too. Overall a must try, the green and red salsa are both awesome and full flavored, spicy.

Yelp
How I have missed Mexican food like this! Just amazing! These quesadillas remind me of Tres Marias. And only 10 minutes from Round Rock.

Yelp
was looking for a place to get tacos in the area and saw this place online. we had never heard of machetes before so we decided to give it a try. literally so good!! the masa dough on the outside was super crispy and there was a lot of meat inside. we did half barbacoa and half bistec and I liked the barbacoa better but both were really good. the quesabirria tacos were also amazing, and cheap too (4 for $13... most places sell them for 3/$15!) customer service was really nice too. the hours are a bit spotty. we got there around 4:30 and they weren't open, and when we gave them a call they said they'd be open in half an hour. just call beforehand! overall great hidden gem, good food and cheap prices. a full sized machete + quesabirria + 2 cokes came out to around $34, pretty decent imo

Yelp
The birria tacos are very good. I have had plenty of birria tacos in my lifetime and these definitely hit the spot!

Yelp
What a great find in the neighborhood! This food truck is tucked away behind the HEB - Wells Branch, inside a car lot. Parking is a little tricky at the food truck, so your best bet might be to park at the HEB and just walk a few hundred feet to get to the truck. Either way, don't let that deter you. Their menu boasts the machete, quesabirrias, huaraches, and a few other plates. We ordered the machete (with campechano, which is a mix of beef, chorizo, and chicharrones I think) and the quesabirrias with consome. For the machete, you can get whichever protein inside; options - beef, al pastor, campechano, or birria. Everything was super delicious! I am definitely having to return to try the huaraches, bc it looks so interesting. Bring cash, if you don't want to get an extra $1 charge for using a CC. Also, might help if you speak some Spanish, but they do try. Just be patient, because the food is good!

Yelp
Really good Birria's tacos! I recommend for a quick bite or to try something new. Also the churros are good ! Definitely will order again

Yelp
Quesabirria tacos were delicious, consume was just as good. Only draw back is no parking and harder to communicate

Yelp
Amazing.. best birria in pflugerville by far. parking is kind of difficult but it's worth it easily.

Mylie B.

Yelp
The food was amazing. My husband was a little concerned when we pulled up. It's located in a car lot that is overgrown. But I just followed the other reviews. We got the machete with Al pastor as our meat choice and we got a quesabirria. My in laws ordered the same thing. It helps if you can speak Spanish. My Spanish is limited but was better than their English. I read to pay cash but we didn't have cash so we paid with a card but you don't get a receipt. Next time we'll bring cash. They had nice tables with Umbrellas. We'll definitely be back!
google avatar

Liz L.

Yelp
I ordered a machete. The machete itself was flavorless and my rice so overwhelmingly salty that i could not enjoy it. The salsa was spicy, but also had no flavor. I was disappointed. The service was great.
google avatar

Vickie P.

Yelp
the service was really good, very friendly staff always came back to our table to make sure everything was going good! the food was amazing, definitely at the top of my food truck places, i definitely recommend trying this place if you're looking for a late dinner or just in the area. the food came out super quick so you wouldn't be waiting too long!

Yelp
This is a nice little taco stand that sits just off of Lamar Boulevard. It does help to have a knowledge of the Spanish language since nothing is in English on the menus. They do have three tables enclosed in plastic if you want to dine at this location. They also wear masks and gloves. They have been at this location for about two years. I ordered the beef burrito without the cream and when I looked inside it had two slices of avocado and freshly cut vegetables. It was definitely one of the best beef burritos I've ever had made fresh to order wrapped in a tortilla that is also made to order. They also sell some drinks but that list is not posted. Basically this little food truck that serves up some darn good food at a reasonable price which makes it an undiscovered little jewel off the main road.

Yelp
Fantastic customer service and fantastic food. Highly recommend if you are in the area craving for some tacos.

Yelp
Got the Monster burger, only expected the burger but it came with fries which was a nice plus. The burger tasted good and was very filling with thick patties. The birria tacos were also great. The employee there was very friendly and talked us through the menu. Very yummy, would recommend!

Food & Service is top quality & enjoy bringing my family to eat. Definitely hands down best pastor tacos love the food!!

Yelp
Tons of options with lots of variety at the physical location. Everything's filling, delicious, authentic and fresh. Really great value for the price to portion ratio. a new fav for the family

Yelp
Surprising amount of choices. I got the comically large machete and do not regret it. The group of people I went with liked their food too.
