"Philly’s Machine Shop Boulangerie is easy to find. Just peep the line forming on the first floor of the Bok Building, a historic schoolhouse converted into restaurants like Irwins and work spaces. The croissants here (there’s typically a handful of varieties) are about the size of a snowball, and are super airy with lots of flaky layers. While the standard croissant nails the balance of buttery sweetness, we also love the double chocolate version stuffed with chocolate mousse." - anne cruz
"This bakery on the first floor of the Bok Building works for a low-commitment situation in South Philly. And, even if your date arrives and doesn’t compliment your outfit, you’ll at least get to eat a flaky apple danish next to a big window. You could always wander around the shops on the first floor if they start talking about birth charts.
