"Discover Modern Israeli Cuisine If you are looking for a quiet meal, this is not the place for you. But if you want mouth-watering, inventive food with attentive service and authentic Israeli hospitality, Machneyuda hitsthe spot. Situated in the iconic Jerusalem shuk , or marketplace, the restaurant is the brainchild of three acclaimed chefs: Yossi Elad, Assaf Granite, and Uri Navon. The kitchen showcases locally sourced ingredients prepared with modern creativity and classic techniques. The lively dining room is focused on creativity. For the restaurant's signature dessert presentation, tables are covered with aluminum foil and covered with a dizzying variety of cakes, fruits, ice creams, and sweets."
How I Travel: Gal Gadot Sleeps Like a Baby on a Plane
"I recommend Machneyuda, a restaurant in Jerusalem. I think it's beautiful because it's a melting pot of the country. There's Arabs and Israelis and there's music there, and people are dancing on the tables and the food is amazing. It's a bite of what it means to be living in Israel."
Not only couldn’t hear each other talk we couldn’t hear ourselves think
When we asked waitress to lower music we were told that the noise is part of the concept.
So I might just be a grumpy old man but we were there with our 27 year old son and 25 year old partner.
They suffered just as much as myself and my partner.
I just don’t get the concept and that’s such a pity because the food was really good

We came with great expectations and ordered a table about a month ago. Overall the service was professional and welcoming, the atmosphere was live and happy, the products were fresh and wel taken care of, BUT not very tasty and fulfilling for the sole and stomach. Also very noisy to the point that it was impossible to say a word without shouting it for several times. We set at the upper floor and the tables were almost one above each other so it was uncomfortable. we almost shared our table with the one behind us. I expected more than this.

The steak was perfectly grilled. The flavors in every dish were delicious!! The staff went above and beyond. I highly recommend this restaurant.

We had the salad with herbs, grapes, croutons and labneh followed by the mackerel, the chicken liver on mashed potatoes and finally the honey cake with toffee and ice cream. Food was very good but the best part was the service. We sat at the bar and were welcomed by two super friendly bartenders who gave us free shots (they were drinking with us too). They also played my song on request. Fun atmosphere.

The place is packed and had a wonderful atmosphere. The hostess was kind and even accommodated us about 15 minutes earlier than our reservation.
Food:
Starters were great, really both delecisous and well presented. So highly recommend them as all we ordered was good.
Sadly this doesn't follow through to the main courses which were a mess.
Fish was extremely salted to a point that all you could taste was saltiness and not the fish.
Spicy pasta was oily and greasy. The flavour was heavily overshadowed by oil taste.
The brisket was the only main course which was nice. And probably worth a taste.
Drinks:
Cocktails and the G&T were simply bad.
Even when asking to use higher tier of Gin the end result was not great.
Service:
The service was bad not because the waiters weren't helpful, but simply due to the fact there were like only 3 of them for a whole 2 floors. Which causes long wait times, missed orders and various mischiefs. To their credits the waiters tried their best.
I guess we just expected a bit better from what supposed to be the best food in town.

As someone who grew up in Jerusalem and lived there half her life, it's amazing to me to see how my beloved shuk (farmers market) advanced and elevated in the area of fine dining. Machneyuda is a wonderful gourmet restaurant in the shuk. The food is fantastic. The service is quick and friendly. They have their own delicious beer. The prices are very high, as expected, but they're worth it. Great atmosphere, music, and colorful decor. The seabass was yummy, just too plain for my partner (in comparison to his bold dish of interior parts), and the baked starters were really good. It's a very "happening" place, so if you want to sit and talk - go somewhere else. Overall, a great experience!

Machneyuda is great! It’s noisy, informal, slightly chaotic, and absolutely a good time. For me it hits exactly the right point on the food spectrum between refined and delicious - not fussy, not too focused on presentation, just very tasty. The tasting menu is good value at 295 shekels: not cheap, but worth it (and seriously generous). My best eating experience in Israel.

Wow Wow WOW is all I cansay about Machneyuda! We did not have a reservation, and the restaurant was full, but the sweet hostess squeezed us in anyway. The food was BEYOND flavorful and fresh. This was hands down the best meal we had in Israel! Super fun atmosphere, with loud music, the chefs and line cooks were all drinking wine and cheersing with guests, the bar staff was super friendly-- we had such a great time! We will definitely be back in the future. OMG the food was awesome!
