"Located at the Sun Tan Plaza in Brookhaven, this restaurant serves traditional Peruvian ceviches, hearty plates of lomo saltado, and other dishes like tallarines a la huancaina con bistec (linguine and grilled steak tossed in huancaina sauce), arroz con pollo, and carapulcra (Peruvian pork and potato stew). Order mazamorra morada for dessert — a pudding made from Peruvian purple corn and a combination of pureed fruits, like apples, pineapples, and cherries. It’s served warm." - Eater Staff

"One of Atlanta’s original Peruvian restaurants, Machu Picchu on Buford Highway gave folks a scare a few years back when it closed at Northeast Plaza. Now located one mile south at the Sun Tan Plaza in Brookhaven, the restaurant is once again serving Peruvian ceviches, hearty plates of lomo saltado, and other traditional dishes, including tallarines a la huancaina con bistec (linguine and grilled steak tossed in huancaina sauce), arroz con pollo, and carapulcra (Peruvian pork and potato stew). Order mazamorra morada for dessert, a pudding made from Peruvian purple corn and a combination of pureed fruits, like apples, pineapples, and cherries. It’s served warm." - Beth McKibben

"Peruvian restaurant Machu Picchu recently reopened after being closed for nearly five years on Buford Highway. The restaurant now resides in Brookhaven at the Sun Tan Center complex. Expect to find past popular dishes on the menu, like lomo saltado (beef stir-fry), yuca fries, empanadas, and aji de gallina (chicken stew) with alfajores cookies for dessert." - Beth McKibben

Google
A delicious Peruvian neighborhood eatery in Brookhaven. Here are the dishes and beverages I tried: Ceviche de Pescado Lomo Saltado a lo Pobre Picarones Chicha Morado Highlights were the ceviche, which was vibrant and tangy, lomo saltado, with its tender, seasoned steak and onions, and plantains, which were well-balanced with just the right amount of crispy edges. Overall, this is an eatery that is definitely worth a visit for lunch (they have lunch specials until 4p.m.) or dinner. I'll be back soon to try their stews and other seafood main courses. Stop in also to speak with Zoila García, MP owner who is passionate about serving the BuHi community!

Thought that I would get a taste of Peruvian food before I take my trip to Peru 🇵🇪 next month. The Seafood soup was ok nothing I have to come back for the service was the worst and it all started with a dirty spoon that took 5 minutes to replace. Not coming back.

Google
What an execellent finding. Just moved to the area passed by the restaurant and decided to stop in. Am I glad I did!!! Had a lunch special, with chicken lo mein, soup and fruit juice, let’s just say I will be coming back. Here’s a pic of half the soup haha!! Delish!!

Google
Peruvian staples are served here similarly to what you would have at a regular lunch spot in Lima. If you are into lomo saltado or arroz con pollo, the flavors are all there. Nothing particularly fancy or delicate, seems to be family run, the food comes out pretty fast. Worth the price.

Google
This place is a hidden gem!!! You must try their ceviche. The lomo saltado is also out of this world! Everyone is so happy and welcoming. Definitely coming back to try more of their menu.

Google
Delicious cerviche mixto and tasty lomo saltado! Fried yucca was a bit dense and not the best I've had. Interior is simple and casual but clean. All in all, great Peruvian spot that's worth the visit.

Google
My Little Princess placed a to go order Friday a week ago. Her beef was dry, and over cooked. My calamari was most excellent. The pickled vegetables were excellent. But, if the Little Princess isn't happy, no one is.

Google
Awesome customer service. Restaurant is clean. Food was outstanding. My husband is Peruvian. We've gone to several Peruvian restaurants around Atlanta. This one is hands-down our favorite. It's also the only Peruvian Restaurant we said we'd visit again. I ordered Aji DE Gallina with and side of yuca. Loved it. Great flavor. My husband had Lomo Saltado a lo Pobre and Chupe de Camarones.

Yelp
Arriving in Atlanta on business, I was delighted to find a small cluster of international cuisine in walking distance of the hotel. I decided to try Machu Picchu Restaurant as I'd never before had the opportunity to try Peruvian food. Well, I'm only here a couple of nights and I believe I'll be going back. The hospitality was excellent. I mentioned that it was my first time trying Peruvian food, and they happily guided me through some recommendations. I ended up ordering the Anticuchos Especial (beef heart skewers served with their boiled potatoes and yellow pepper sauce), as well as the Arroz con Mariscos (Peruvian style paella). Both dishes were truly delicious. The beef heart was marinated in a succulent blend of spices (flavor, not heat). The papa a la hunacaina was very flavorful, and I could have consumed a LOT of the huancaina (yellow pepper sauce). I just wanted to dip the beef heart slices in that sauce all night. The paella was savory and comforting. In all, I ordered too much food for dining alone. I have no regrets... and I have leftovers for breakfast before I head to work. I'm only in town a couple more nights, and may find myself there for both of them.

Yelp
Another hidden gem in north ATL. Our meals were fantastic, filling, and perfectly seasoned. The service is fantastic. The booths are comfortable and the music sets a good vibe. We plan to come back for our birthday dinners this year.

Marshall B.

Yelp
Authentically Peruvian. Verified by my friend. Simple and true home cooking. Love to support small businesses. Worth trying to expand your horizons if you aren't familiar!

Briana L.

Yelp
This is a mom and pops family owned restaurant. At first glance it seems quite simple but clean. However, they have little to no AC. Just fans and unfortunately that is not always the best in 90+ degree weather. At the time, only a mom and son were at the front, attending to customers. There may have been a cook in the back. Service is slow but friendly. I ordered the chicken empanada with side salad and yucca. Honestly, it was all delicious. The empanada was perfectly fried but once you opened the empanada a yummy chicken aroma burst from the inside. The chicken mix had a soupy yet mole texture. It was a pleasant surprise. The taste of the empanada was also another unique taste different from the Cuban and Mexican empanadas. The salad was fresh. And the yucca was also tasty. I hope they can get the AC running because I'd like to come again and try other dishes.

Yelp
I am on the hunt for more Peruvian restaurants to eat at in Atlanta. The waitress was great and very friendly. She spoke good English and was very nice. We were served bread and it came with an open butter so that is a little questionable. We were scared to eat the bread or the sauce it came with cause it could have all been old.. Lomo saltado was decent but came with crinkle fries Milanesa de pollo was good, little rice and the salad was so dry, had no flavor. The service was good but the food was not. We won't be coming back here. We will continue to look for another Peruvian restaurant to enjoy. Microwave food was definitely a vibe here. Not much of a fresh taste.

Angelo K.

Yelp
Food was really good. I went with a group on a whim and was not disappointed. It's pretty clear this spot is primarily serving people of the culture, so your best bet is to ask the staff what's good if you want the best. I had the calamari & lomo saltado with egg and was not disappointed.

Nick R.

Yelp
Absolutely delicious! I'm going to add this to our regular rotation. I started with the Sopa de Casa, which is basically chicken noodle soup, but it was strong and savory and hit the spot. Then I had the Lomo Saltado a la Pobre, which was a revelation - lots of flavors that blended perfectly together. Be sure to add some off the hot cilantro side sauce if you like a little heat (I do). My friend had the Tallarines Verde, which was delicious, though a touch dry for pasta. I "won" our first visit. Waiter was very nice and attentive. The room is rather spartan - simple booths and tables on a linoleum floor with a TV hanging in the corner playing cover band videos (??). But I go to restaurants for the food, not the decor. And I'll definitely be going back to Machu Picchu.

Becky W.

Yelp
So sad to see the downward spiral in food, service and ambience. I loved the old location and was disappointed in the lack of flavor from the food, bareness of decor, and indifferent service @ newer location.

Kiah W.

Yelp
Food was hot and delicious. Good and fast service as well they were very friendly. We had the lomo saltado and pillow saltado with ripe sweet plantain. Family style restaurant.

Samavi A.

Yelp
Came here with friends to try some Peruvian food. This was a very cute woman-owned restaurant. The owner was very sweet and told us her story as well as give us great suggestions from the menu. Very fun tropical vibe with great music in the background. We all tried various chicken dishes and they were all so flavorful and delicious. Would love to try other items in their extensive menu.

Tania S.

Yelp
Very friendly environment and delicious food . Recommend 10 out of 10. Parking easy and staff attentive

Chris S.

Yelp
Dropped by this place while looking for a place to eat nearby. Walk in and seat yourself and the waitress will get to you. I got the lomo saltado and chicha morada as per a lot of the reviews here. I don't usually get drinks but felt like trying something new. The chica morada was very sweet and tasted like a nice fruit juice! Seemed to be freshly made from the bits left on the bottom of the glass. Definitely very refreshing for a summer day. The lomo saltado was also delicious and was a pretty big portion - definitely filled me up. The fries and beef actually paired really well together! Service was a little slow because I think it may be family-owned so there was only one waitress, but it was fine! Just something to note. She also wears a mask for COVID precautions. Definitely try this place out!

Carlos C.

Yelp
In Atlanta for a few days and decided to try this place. Ordered yucas with huancaina sauce as appetizer. Yucas tasted old and huancaina sauce was ice cold and lacked flavor. The chicken milanesa was over fried and lacked flavor. The cucumbers on the salad were slimy and the rice did not have a pinch of salt or garlic. The tallarines verdes were the only item that had decent flavor. Even the corn was bland on flavor. The chicha morada glass had so much ice that diluted the natural flavor of the chicha. A very disappointing experience

Luis R.

Yelp
A place to enjoy the wonderful cuisine from Peru, great taste, and quality, plates are big and worth the money I comeback every time I wish to enjoy the diversity of the Peruvian food

Jennifer M.

Yelp
You MUST TRY THIS PLACE! I haven't had Peruvian food this good in a very long time. The staff was kind and service was fantastic. Only topped by the delicious food! I always recommend Lomo Saltado as a starting point if you've never had Peruvian food before. The empanadas we started with were also excellent. The restaurant was clean as were the restrooms. Highly recommend you make a visit here when in the area!

Wade B.

Yelp
Great flavorful food. Large portions, everything cooked to order. My favorite Peruvian place. The food is quick to arrive.

Dazziyah M.

Yelp
My boyfriend and I were looking for a second Peruvian place to eat at, we usually go to a different one, but it was closed. The staff was SUPER nice and friendly. First they gave us toasted bread, which was good, but we didn't like the spicy sauce it came with so we just ate it with the butter. Next we got calamari and personally I LOVE calamari, but this one was very oily. I am not a fan of fried foods because my palette tastes too much oil for some reason, calamari is one of the fried foods I will eat. My boyfriend on the other hand who loves fried food and he thought it was pretty good, but yes, oily. The onions were really good to me though! I love the taste of lime and it definitely was good alone lol. Another appetizer that we got was the empanadas which I thought was pretty good! Some people may be iffy because they do put raisins inside, which I thought were interesting. I couldn't eat the whole thing, but it was pretty good. It's about the size of a small hand lol. For my main dish, I got something that was called Lomo Saltado and I liked it, but didn't love it. A couple of my favorite foods are rice, plantains, and steak, but this dish wasn't something I would get again. I don't think there was enough flavor on the foods, besides maybe salt. I don't feel that everything went together. My boyfriend got the paella and thought the muscles we good, but they good have used more of it. The rice wasn't flavorful enough for our tastes, but overall it was good. I wanted to get dessert, but I wasn't sure I would like it. I love arrow con leche. My boyfriend got the helado de Lucuma and he didn't really like it. He loves this icecream, but it was very icy, not really creamy like icecream. They are Covid friendly and everyone wears masks. The booths are away from each other as well. Overall I don't think we would come back, but for others it may be really good! 5/10 The food looks so great tho! Love the presentation for sure

Ron F.

Yelp
I used to go to this place when it was in Northeast Plaza but I thought it had closed down. We recently found out they moved to this shopping center. The food is just as good as I remember it. We started with the empanadas (beef and chicken), which were good. Both entrees had lots of flavor! I will be back

Carolina D.

Yelp
We ordered the chicken and beef empanadas, salchicha papa, chicken soup, tallarín saltado and picarones - all really good and flavorful. Service was great with a very attentive waitress. No frill ambiance. Clean tables.

John F.

Yelp
Our group outing stopped in here and we had a great time. I went with the Tallarines a la Huancaina con Pollo. A huge piece of chicken over linguini with a house cheese sauce. The chicken was nicely grilled and not dried out. The pasta reminds me of macaroni and cheese, but with some additional flavors and a hint of spice. Decor isn't much but this is on of those places that looks simple but makes up for it with the menu.

Sylvia M.

Yelp
Delicious food, amazing customer service ...the guanábana juice was fresh and delicious ! I highly recommended 5

Nancy J.

Yelp
Another great meal at Machu Picchu last night with our neighbor. This time we ordered different dishes- so happy we have such delicious Peruvian food near us!! Can't wait to go back again soon!

Ivan J.

Yelp
The lunch special-arroz con pollo is amazing. Love the ceviche, anticuchos and picarones too

Warren C.

Yelp
Excellent Cebiche, great customer service, pleasant atmosphere, not very busy yet so you don't have to worry about crowds. Chicha Morada is also excellent here.

Ludy V.

Yelp
Have been wanting to try this unassuming restaurant on Buford Highway not far from N. Druid Hills and we were not disappointed. Very friendly atmosphere and it appeared they were trying to keep everyone inside socially distanced which I appreciate a lot. We ordered the favs, lomo saltado and the papas a la Huancaina... I have traveled extensively in and frequently to Peru in the past few years and this food was right on target. The spicy salsa (aji) was also delicious. Patronize this restaurant for delicious and authentic Peruvian fare - keep them in business!!

Kenia C.

Yelp
Food is del licios. Juices are a wowwww!! Amazing. Ambience not nice at all. I prefer warm places service was good with the young guy at the front.

Karla V.

Yelp

Clara A.

Yelp
I used to go to Machu Picchu when it was at Northeast plaza and when I found out that the same cook Janet is working at this place, I had to try it. This place serves authentic Peruvian food and I ordered the Ceviche and my husband ordered the lomo saltado. Both were so tasty and we will definitely come back. I was very pleased

Shannon B.

Yelp
This place wasn't bad but I was underwhelmed and the food was just ok. After driving by this place a lot I decided to give it a try. I ordered their take in a Chicken Fried Rice meal, the rice was seasoned well and the chicken had a nice taste. While I enjoyed what I ate, I wasn't excited about it. Go give it a try and maybe you'll have a different experience but for me I'm not sure if I'll go back again.

Deshawn R.

Yelp
I was headed to another restaurant when I spotted this place while held at a red light. I immediately pulled in when I saw it was Peruvian food. I was first introduced to the cuisine by a former coworker years back. I went in and knew exactly what I wanted: Lomo Saltado. They brought out an appetizer of toast, butter, and a spicy sauce. It was so great I ordered another when my meal came. I had an Inca Kola, which was much better than American colas. It has a natural sweetness that I like as if it was cane sugar. The Lomo was amazing. The fries were crispy and the steak was juicy. I have to say it was one amazing. This is the second Lomo I had in the Atlanta area and both spots represented. I would definitely recommend this place. This is great for any food voyeurs interested in exploring Latin cuisines.

Benny K.

Yelp
Finally found a solid authentic Peruvian restaurant near me since living in Miami! Started with some complimentary freshly toasted bread and spicy sauce and followed with the chicken and beef empanadas. Honestly some of the best empanadas I've ever had. They used quality chops of meat with different spices and flavors as opposed to the standard ground beef and shredded chicken you would find at most places. The Lomo Saltado was on par with what I am used to from Miami and very flavorful. Everything was very reasonably priced for a quality hidden gem.

Mike S.

Yelp
It's been awhile since we checked this place out, and honestly I don't remember what we got then, but I did want to write some sort of review/call to action to go try this place, we were very happy with everything we got to eat and the service. Now looking forward to going back soon.

Liora K.

Yelp
Food was good, service was quick. Reminded me of the authentic Peruvian restaurant in Miami. Was definitely worth the try. Would recommend getting lomo Saltado like everyone else.

William D.

Yelp
Stopped in for lunch when I learned of their new location now reopened. Excellent service. Fresh flavors throughout our lunch with vibrant green sauce and aji amarillo sauce. The huancaina sauce absolutely classic - like dining with my daughter in law's Peruvian family Unpretentiously delicious.

Larry L.

Yelp
So I got the lunch special which was a soup, drink and mean meal. I chose chicken soup, Estofado. Also ordered a Ocopa which I've never had before. The soup was great literally gave me a flash back on how my grandma made it so A+ on that. The Estofado was really good too, though I wish the added more of the juice on the rice. The interior was nice and clean. I'll definitely be coming back

D'mitri H.

Yelp
Incredible food and great costumer service. it may be hidden but it's definitely worth it! Highly recommend Taglirini verde con pollo! the place is clean and comfortable and so welcoming. they need more costumers!!

Safia A.

Yelp
Ordered for pick up and everything was amazing. We will definitely be back. The Lomo Saltado is clearly a favorite, and the amount of beef was good. There were a lot of fries in it, but we enjoyed that. The arroz con mariscos was amazing!! They kept the sauce on the side so it wasn't turned into mush by the time we got home and ate. We also asked for no shrimp, so they gave extra mussels. My only complaint was that it was a lot more rice than seafood, but it wasn't unreasonable. Lastly, the ceviche was soooo good. They use real Peruvian corn, which has much larger kernels and its very starchy. The corn pieces were great when we mixed them into the vinegar and they soaked up a lot of that flavor. We asked for the ceviche spicy and it was perfect. Can't wait to go back.

Shannon M.

Yelp
Wow this was wonderful!! It doesn't look like much when you look from the outside, but the food was a 5 star rating for sure!!! We had lomo Saltado and a mixed seafood dish. I ate every last bit, I cleaned the plate! . We started with empanadas and plantains, topped with Peruvian margaritas. My mouth is watering just writing the review. The owner/servers were very informative, made great suggestions and the food was very authentic. Prices were more than reasonable! Check it out, you won't be disappointed!

Linda L.

Yelp
Today I was craving to eat Peruvian food but I think it was not an option to go to this place to eat. when we entered the place was almost empty except for a table that had, the waitress was not very attentive to us even it was empty. we ordered some sodas called Inca cola very sweet We ordered a mixed ceviche the fish is raw with big chuncks of fish hard to to eat but the pieces it was very salty and it only tasted like pure lemon Not fresh seafood , the ceviche comes corn kernels that usually come with the ceviche as a side dish and I did not come with the ceviche we ask the waitress to bring the side of them and they charged me for half a corn in 4 dollars when it had to come with the ceviche like a side . the potatoes with the yellow sauce that dish is cold I do not recomend it but it was what I liked the most .... we ordered some mussels and they did not taste like Nothing only of onion and raw tomato tasted horrible ... we ordered a last plate of rice with seafood and it did not taste like anything, it only tasted of soy sauce with oil ... AND MY FIANCÉ GET SICK SO BAD AFTER AN HOUR EATING THAT HE STARTED VOMITING NOT RECOMMEND YOU THIS PERUVIAN FOOD RESTAURANT. DOES NOT MEAN THE ALL PERUVIAN ARE ALL THE SAME BUT THIS IS THE WORST RESTAURANT I HAVE EATEN IN ATLANTA AND SUPER EXPENSIVE FOR WHAT YOU GET BAD QUALITY FOOD . BUT YOU CAN GIVE A TRY ... STARS( 1) 5

Charles P.

Yelp
Incredible food. For appetizers, we ordered choros a la chalaca (mussels on the half shell) and fried yucca. Our main dishes were lomo saltado a lo pobre, arroz chaufa, chupe de langostino, and arroz con mariscos, with pitchers of chicha morada. And for dessert we shared picarones (a sort of mashup of donuts and funnel cake, topped with honey) and lucuma ice cream. Everything we ordered was extremely good and authentic. Definitely recommend!

Clara D.

Yelp
We were looking forward to good Peruvian food. What a disappointment!!! The fried calamari were chewy, heavily breaded and not at all crunchy, like chicharron de calamari is supposed to be. The tostones , fried green plantains, were unedible. Some were soggy and the others hard as stone. We tossed them in the garbage.

Kim L.

Yelp
I love this restaurant. Best Peruvian food in Atlanta and truly well done Classic Peruvian Ceviche

Benjamin C.

Yelp
So good! My new favorite restaurant in town! If you love Peruvian food, this is THE place. If you've never had Peruvian food, this the place to start. Top quality. We got our's to go and devoured it. I might go back again tomorrow. It's that good!!

Leonardo M.

Yelp
I was missing this placw since last location closed... Excellent service amd amazing food!!!

Cathy F.

Yelp
This was one of our favorite restaurants when they were at Northeast Plaza, and we were sad when they closed 5 years ago. Now the manager Zoila Garcia has reopened at 2863 Buford Highway, just south of North Druid Hills Rd. Same wonderful Peruvian food. Our favorite is Lomo Soltado and Pollo Soltado.

Dominique J.

Yelp
This place is a hidden gem in Brookhaven! My husband and I come in always and get the Lomo Saltado which is phenomenon! I would highly recommend if your interested in some authentic Peruvian food!

Anthony T.

Yelp
Worse peruvian dishes I have ever had.... This is definitely not a genuine Peruvian restaurant... Dont waste your money, Go elsewhere!
