The Breakaway Coffee Shop Now Open for Golden Knights Fans | Eater Vegas

"A full-service pizza, grill and pub located above the arena's first-floor coffee shop, this venue is part of Bill Foley's Glacier Restaurant Group portfolio — the same ownership behind the local NHL team and roughly 27 other similar pubs — and serves as the upstairs dining complement to the arena's quick-service offerings." - Bradley Martin

We popped in for a quick bite after knocking out some Christmas shopping, and everything hit just right The fish and chips were some crispy cod with, believe it or not, Captain Crunch crust on the outside matched with seasoned fries. A fun unexpected twist i did not see coming The cod fish tacos were bigger than your typical lunch tacos with plenty of flavor and definitely filling. The wedge salad with steak tips was larger than your usual salad but just a heads-up that the house-made seasoning packs a punch and can be a bit overpowering Huge shoutout to Brandi who was awesome, attentive, and made sure we had everything we needed without missing a beat Great food, great service, and exactly what we needed in the middle of a busy shopping day. Happy Holidays, we’ll definitely be back!

Wow, what a cool restaurant. Nicely decorated, great crew, & super delicious food. No complaints here!

I wanted to try something new and wasn’t disappointed! The food was amazing and well seasoned. French onion soup was so comforting for me and the service was good! This restaurant was also very clean and well kept! Will visit again !

Just left from our first visit to Mackenzie River. It was my husband, our 7 year old, and me. The food was delicious. The service was lacking all the way around. The hostess apparently lost our name on the waitlist. She told us 15-20, after 25 I asked how much longer and they both looked confused never spoke other than to ask if we needed a kids menu, then sat us immediately. She said they were out of silverware at the host stand and our server would bring some. We were prepared to order when the server came up to get drinks because we had been waiting so long and it was later in the evening so we were hungry. Food was very fast and hot. I asked for our daughter's food to come out quickly if possible. Our server brought it out and tossed it onto the table without even looking at us....we still had no silverware. When our pizza came out we asked that person for silverware. Our server brought our silverware and plates for pizza but ignored our empty glasses and left before I could ask. She came back to check on us a while later with her hands loaded down from other tables and I had to ask for refills. My personal opinion was that she had too many tables (a large party and several booths) AND we were the least of her concerns because we weren't drinking alcohol. If we go back there I hope the service improves.

First time eating here. Great place and food. Met friends for lunch, not too busy for a Friday. Brooklyn was our server. Very friendly and nice. When the appetizer came out, Greek flatbread, she only brought out napkins, no plates. The entrees were good and you got a lot of food for the price. They serve local beers. About 12-15 large flat screen tvs to watch sports.

I first tried MacKenzie River about two years ago. A friend, and myself were looking for a new restaurant to try, and we weren't disappointed. The Restaurant is clean - the design, and layout of the interior is really quite nice, and fun. The service is fast, and friendly, and the food is really quite enjoyable. My own personal favourite dish there, is the MacKenzie Alfredo - It was the very first thing that I ever tried there, and it's always difficult for me to order anything else, whenever I go in there, as it's really quite good! I recommend it. CHEERS!

Google
Have gone here twice now, and the first time was much better than the second. Food was out of this world the first time. the second time, it was just okay. Kelsey is a top-notch waitress. Pasta is decent. Bread is good. Chicken tortilla soup is thick and spicy, a different twist on it for sure. Their artichoke and spinach dip has basil/pesto in it, so it's a bit sweet. Those blue tortilla chips are fire, though. Regular burgers and bison burgers are recommended. Their kids' mac and cheese comes with goldfish in them, our 6yr old was not a happy camper about that. They only have rootbeer in bottles. All and all a decent place, worth trying at least once.

Yelp
Stopped in for lunch spur of the moment. We really liked the vibe. The decor is wood, kind of dark and very relaxing. We both got a bowl of French onion soup and then a large pizza. The soup was okay, it fit the bill on a cold day. Pizza was decent. Mostly we liked the laid back atmosphere. I'd probably come back and have some beers or cocktails next time. They had a large selection of wines and specialty cocktails. Good variety on the menu as well. The place is clean and service was prompt and friendly.

Yelp
We stopped in to Mackenzie River Pizza today and we are so glad we did! What a fun place. All the fish camp decorations are cleaver. Not too noisy on a Friday afternoon. My Greek flatbread was delicious! Our server Brandy was friendly and pleasant. Definitely recommend this place!

Yelp
We haven't been to MacKenzie River in years and decided to visit this location while we were in town for an event at the Air Force Museum. We ate at the bar and were greeted by Amber, who was nothing short of outstanding. She went over the new menu items, priced different bourbons for us and was just overall on point with everything. She is an asset to your restaurant! We ordered a bowl of the Chicken Chili and the Pot Pie. They were both excellent choices that Amber recommended. The bourbons were great, and a bonus that they had the big ice cube as well! It was a cold and snowy evening, but your restaurant was nice and cozy and gave us that feeling of being in a lodge. We will definitely be back the next time we visit the area, and will request Amber! Thank you for a wonderful experience.

Yelp
Stopped for lunch today with some coworkers. Service was fast and attentive. We had a larger party and the food came out quick and was hot and fresh. I opted for their seasonal salad and it was delicious. I would come back.

Yelp
Nice restaurant. We froze to death waiting on below average food! Stay away! Absolutely too cold! French onion soup was dry appearing like a fifth grader prepared it. The hamburger sliders were good. Waitress was efficient.

Yelp
I went here last Friday for a team luncheon. Menu-wise, they offer a variety of casual dining options but pizza seems to be one of their popular items. The atmosphere has an outdoor-type feel. It's nothing fancy but it is kind of neat. I got one of their 10" signature pizzas: The Rancher. It had tomato sauce, ground beef, smoky bacon, tomatoes, red onions, green peppers, and mozzarella cheese. I got it with the thin crust. I especially liked the smoky bacon and ground beef. The green peppers and red onions aren't really diced but scattered on top. It looks like a homemade pizza. The cheese distribution was really good. It's a tasty pizza and the thin crust was a good choice. I think the thicker crust would make it too filling. I would eat here again. It's a nice restaurant, with a variety of options besides the pizza. Service was good and the pizzas are served on a pan. I recommend.

Yelp
McKenzie River is lucky to have amber behind the bar. She's the kind of bartender who turns a simple night out into an amazing experience. I'll say she isn't like a few others in there who only pays attention to certain customers! we Always enjoy coming here-- not just for the drinks, but because of the incredible service she provides! Amber you deserve a raise girl

Yelp
Went there during their lunch hours, as they were beginning to get crowded. The space was very chill and had a light atmosphere. I ordered the Ol' Prospector with fries, and everything was delicious. The burger had a few spots of red around the edges (requested, well done), but it wasn't a deal breaker. The fries were nicely seasoned and crispy, and the sauce had a hint of sweetness to it that made the fries more flavorful. The burger was wide, very filling, and flavorful. The Rancher pizza was very cheesy and had spinach hidden underneath. The waitress mentioned it was a good vegan option. Regardless, it was very tasty with the Alfredo sauce in it. The humble pie was good, but it had too much sauce and tomatoes underneath the cheese on it. Nearly every other bite had sauce spilling out We thought we would eat half and save the other half for later, but we couldn't stop taking "one more bite" Definitely plan on coming back to get my own Rancher pie.

Yelp
Never heard of this place but appeared to be some sort of chain restaurant. Stopped in for lunch and it was nice inside with a rustic feel. The waitress was very nice and friendly. I ordered the pulled pork bbq burger. It was very good and the fries were crispy. If I ever seen one again I'd know it has pretty good food.
google avatar

Brooke M.

Yelp
The server was extremely polite. Had a wonderful smile and was very knowledgeable regarding the menu and drink offerings. The restaurant was crowded but also very clean and not chaotic. The overall feeling was relaxed and everyone seemed to be in good conversation. The food was outstanding. Everything was fresh, flavorful and cooked to order. Beverages were cold and replenished nicely. I would highly recommend this location. Even if busy, they still remained on their A game.

Yelp
So far so good. Nice atmosphere. Quick service. The food is exactly what I was hoping it would be, it's delicious. I got a Reuben. I got here at about 115 so I missed the lunch rush, it's mellow, it's got a little bit of a quite upbeat music in the background. It's a nice little area. The bartender is attentive, competent, knows the manual, doesn't over or under sell things. The entryway had a bunch of drawings so I think they have some sort of Kids contest thing going. Looks like it's family friendly.
google avatar

James G.

Yelp
Food is consistently good and the rotating seasonal menu has some great dishes. Got a bison burger last time and would recommend. Service can be on the slower side depending on when you go, but the staff is always nice and accommodating. Tap list has all of the local staples including Boat Show from Yellow Springs Brewery.

Shawn F.

Yelp
Stopped in on a business trip to watch PGA, NBA final, and some baseball.....and saw it all on the many TVs! Great version of a white pizza with spicy sausage and check out the bar pic.....a strip along the entire bar is frozen keeping all your frosty beverages ice cold! Pretty neat!

Yelp
Out in the rain and decided to stop in for lunch. Cool looking place! Has a bit of a cabin-rustic vibe. Super clean! We were greeted by the sweetest gal!! Our server was very nice. Answered all our questions, and helped with menu selections. My sister-in-law had a burger with Gouda cheese. She really liked it. Came with crispy lettuce, tomato and d pickles. She had a side of fries. He had the BBQ chicken pizza thin crust. No onion. He liked it. He said it could use more bbq sauce. I had the BEST black bean veggie burger (no bun) I've EVER had!! It was smothered in roasted red peppers and creamy, I think feta, cheese. Also their dinner salad. Was a bit stemmy. Many of the stems were brown. I had the white balsamic vinaigrette!! LOVED it!! All and all it was a good experience and we will come again on a date night!! Definitely worth the try. 4 stars because the salad was a bit brown and stemmy.

Yelp
I've been to this restaurant a few times and it is a good experience. The service was wonderful and we had an attentive server. I got the spicy chicken sandwich and the pineapple salsa was a unique touch that completes the meal.
google avatar

Rich C.

Yelp
The staff is super friendly and keep your drinks filled and really take care of you. The food itself was just ok. The spinach artichoke dip had no seasoning and was ok. The sliders were pretty dry. I had the blue cheese burger and only half the burger had blue cheese. Overall it was just bland but edible. The inside is big and really nice and lots of parking

Yelp
Traveling and working in the area from Dallas on a monthly basis, this is my Monday dinner spot. The bar staff have been awesome during my visit over the last 14 months. Take advantage of their great happy hour. I typically sit at the large bar area and the pint chill beck is awesome to keep your beer cold. There are many options for food, but my favorites are the beet salad and the French Onion soup. It's a great place for sitting at the bar where the windows let in the outside or as a group inside the restaurant. I highly recommend you stop by and give them a try. Enjoy!

Ed P.

Yelp
Everything went well! Good top notch and great service. Relaxed atmosphere is just as good as in Montana. Love going to Mackenzie in Whitefish Montana and I just learned about this Beavercreek location when running an errand. It's been to well kept secret! I will be back!! Try the Huk-ade for real Montana flavors.

Shannon M.

Yelp
Waitress Carmen was great food was really good we had the BBQ chicken pizza and house salad 100%

Nancy P.

Yelp
I really love their food. I love that the chef will work with me to create something that I can eat: removing items that I can't eat. We would love to eat there more often but their prices have gotten a little high.

Yelp
Love this place! Great happy hour and the food is delicious. My favorite spot in Dayton for happy hour!

Yelp
Food was good! Service was fine! Ambiance was nice! I will return again someday when the opportunity presents itself.

Yelp
one of the best pizzas I have had in a long time. nice atmosphere. I will for sure be back.. Great service too.

Yelp
Brought the family here for a late weekend lunch. The staff and food were great! Matt was our server, he was energetic and attentive - really made our meal experience more elevated. He provided great recommendations. We will be back! If you happen to stop in, be sure to ask if you can be seated in Matt's section!

Joe J.

Yelp
The food is always delicious, staff is friendly but not in any way in a hurry, family of four eats for $100 and that was with waters for all. Be prepared to spend $$$ this place isn't cheap.
google avatar

Jennifer D.

Yelp
I really liked this place! Stopped in one night for an appetizer and gluten free pizza. The service was awesome and the street corn nachos were fantastic! Beers were great and the gluten free pizza was not the best ever but they did a nice job with it. The second time I went was for happy hour, beers half off! And the artichoke dip was definitely great as well!!!
google avatar

Yelp
Met some friends here. Located on the outside loop of the mall, there's plenty of parking. I really liked the atmosphere of this place. Although a pizza joint, you'd never suspect it walking in. There's a nice big wrap-around bar, a covered seating area as well as the main dining area. There's lots on the menu to choose from. In fact, one of party members just got a burger. The pepperoni pizza was better than average. So were the appetizers. Now it did take a while for our beers to come initially. There are some TV monitors if you're looking to stay up with you team. No objections to eating here again.
google avatar

Yelp
Came here for lunch on a Saturday around 12:30 pm. We were able to be seated immediately for 6. The waiter was really nice and attentive. The menu has a wide variety of food to choose from. I got the Rangoon flatbread which I really enjoyed. I tried a part of the pulled pork sandwich and it was a little dry. I also tried some of the French onion soup and I thought that was good. The flatbread was ~$10.50 which I thought was reasonable. I would like to try their pizzas someday

Yelp
We enjoyed a night out for my birthday dinner here at MacKenzie River back in mid July. From the knowledgeable, attentive server to the tempting, reasonably priced menu, and the large, but still cozy seating areas, there's nothing not to like at this great new addition to the Fairfield Commons Mall area dining choices!! While the Mr. enjoyed his "not greasy at all" fish and chips, I enjoyed a personal pizza. They have so many amazing pizza choices, I was happy that they allow the chronically indecisive (me!!!) to sample two of their many different specialty pizza options, both veggie and equally DELISH!! Great selection of brews on tap, wonderful pizzas, and plenty of delicious salads, meat-lover and veggie options. Yes, it's a chain, but it's a GOOD chain, which is always a welcome addition, in my book!! Keep up the great work, MRP!!!
google avatar

Jessica F.

Yelp
Went in with some friends and had an amazing time. The atmosphere was great. The food was stellar. We got a variety of meals and a couple drinks and it was quite tasty. The service was top-notch. The kind soul that took care of us endured our shenanigans (we weren't bad just silly). Enjoyed our evening out.
google avatar

Brandon N.

Yelp
Interior decor and ambiance is amazing, not to mention the bar has a frosted rail to keep your glass chilled! Bar tender recommended the meatloaf dish (wouldn't have ordered otherwise) which was fantastic, great flavor, and hit the spot. What a gem of a restaurant!
google avatar

Eric L.

Yelp
Service was good. Food was mediocre and about what I'd expect from this place. I had the rueben, it wasn't bad but it was nothing that makes me want to go back for it either. Clean and decent variety of items on the menu.

Steve W.

Yelp
Extremely slow and poor customer service. Entrees come with undesired add-ons not listed on the menu. Will NEVER be back!

Cassandra B.

Yelp
The food is great. The amount of gnats all over the bar area is not. No one should have to eat food while swatting at them. There were at least 30-50 of them, we moved to the other side of the bar and they were just as bad.

Mike B.

Yelp
The food was excellent. I had a burger and it was cooked just like I ordered. The bartender that took care of me was very attentive and friendly. My food came out quickly. Next time, I'm in town, this will be my first stop.

Rugged M.

Yelp
Sat near the bar with open windows, light breeze flowing through the area. Good menu options. The Meatloaf was excellent. The Willow Creek sandwich was very good. Good, friendly service, reasonable prices.

Jeff B.

Yelp
First, I will say that I am shocked by the good reviews. My wife and I were there for dinner with friends on 11/21. There were four of us and they tried to stick us in a small booth. We asked for a bigger one and we literally stood there for two minutes waiting on them to discuss such an easy request. My meatloaf was pretty much ground beef with savory ketchup on top and the mashed potatoes had a hard coating on them like they had been sitting on the plate for quite some time. My wife got the Steak Frites. The medium rare sirloin was presliced and where the "red" should have been, the meat was gray. That happens when you microwave or reheat it meat. My friend received the tiniest wings on the planet and the buffalo mac n cheese was very dry and less than average at best. I had two cups of coffee that I would not even remotely considered hot. Terrible waste of time and money. Our server was very nice and tried to be as accomodating as she could be. None of our poor experiences were her fault at all.
google avatar

Corina F.

Yelp
I ignored the Yelp review and went off of google which rated higher. Well I have to agree with three stars. Two people in our party and Our bartender got half the order wrong. Waitress forgot to bring our salads, we got the pizza but no plates, asked for plates and got one. Thin crust pizza was and dough was not cooked. Beet salad literally should be called walnut salad as there were 7 small diced beets on the beet salad. The Greek salad was delicious. Ordered a Moscow and not what I expected, a highball glass and no garnish. Overheard at next table, "I'm sorry I heard you say no cheese but normally when people order no cheese they also don't want the meat either, do you want one with meat?" I think management needs to do some remedial training
google avatar

Jan M.

Yelp
Met a friend here for lunch. Very personable server named Blake took good care of us. I had chicken tortilla soup and lodgepoles, which are basically cheese pizza strips served with marinara for dipping. Both were very good. Good location by Fairfield Commons.

Renee V.

Yelp
The food is great. Staff is very friendly. Our waiter took excellent care of us. I had the Cobb salad and it was really good. My husband had a pizza and really enjoyed it. We've been there several times.

William K.

Yelp
We were here with group and everyone ordered something different. A large thin crust "Rancher" pizza was $26. It was tasty but a little pricey. A diet Coke was $3.20. Taylor M. did check on us once or twice.
google avatar

Lee H.

Yelp
First time visitors and we'll be back!! Sure the prices were a bit higher that we expected but the food and the service made it worth it. Trinity was our server and was amazing. She really knew her stuff. My initial reason for going was the Reuben pizza I saw on the online menu but once there, my wife had to have the baked ziti. It was so good, AJ Soprano would love it. She also had the French onion soup, (FOS). She loves FOS and finding a good bowl in Dayton is tough. Mackenzie River just made it easy. She LOVED it! I ended up getting a Reuben sandwich since I have already was wanting it. The sandwich was amazing and the fries were perfect. This slaw was good. Not great but good. Like I said in the outset, we'll be back and we will be trying the Rueben pizza!!!
google avatar

Lindsay W.

Yelp
Where do I start? The service was bad, the waiter was bland as was our appetizer that was made incorrectly. They certainly tried to pass it off as in normal dish, and hoped that we didn't notice. It was missing 4 key ingredients (street corn nachos) so we told them what it was missing and they seemed surprised ... then they bring out the kids meal which was so dry our kid couldn't eat it, also with the wrong side dish with it. My husbands pizza was missing a key ingredient that was literally the entire point of the pizza (spicy sausage). My pasta was surprisingly good. The only thing that was nice was the interior of the place but see pictures for disgusting bathroom vent . They did correct their errors when presented to them but not ONE single manager visited the table to address anything or apologize. The staff was watching football and cursing right in front of my 3 year old and he heard all of it. I would NEVER eat there again. Cold beer though! Cheers!

R S.

Yelp
We were looking forward to dinner but the we didn't receive the main course. 2 salads which I had to add leftover chicken to & they were most positively not too fresh. They just credit without considering the customers dinner. Wont be ordering for takeout or delivery again.
google avatar

Yelp
Delicious food that doesn't hurt the wallet too bad! This place a has a variety of food that should please anyone, regardless of their palate or pickiness. Laid-back atmosphere with attentive staff.

Dimas N.

Yelp
Food looked off but was actually amazing. If you're from California, try the Blue Onion BBQ Burger. The Moscow Mule is a good drink as well. For someone who's into fitness. This place is higher in calories than your normal meals. However, the inside of this place looks amazing. Ambiance gives a sort of cabin/woods vibes. Service was a little slower, but there was a high number of people so it's okay.
google avatar

Yelp
- Street corn nachos - they were ok, nothing special - Small BBQ chicken pizza - it was ok too - California chicken Flatbread - it was pretty good - Pulled pork sandwich with coleslaw (on side) and a side of fries - coleslaw was warm , fries were AMAZING, but the sauce they used on pulled pork was disgusting. Hubby said it was ok. - Smokehouse burger with america cheese instead of gouda - this burger was probably the best burger I've ever ate. Im glad they didn't put the pulled pork sauce on it. I would definitely go back just for this burger. - Mackarita - nothing special

Yelp
Be careful what you order from this place as the food they give you may be a bait and switch. I ordered the Chicken Italian Panini from the menu but what they gave me was nothing more than a wedge sandwich. A Panini is made by pressing the sandwich and usually has grill marks. But what they serve you is a huge piece of bread cut into a wedge shape. No grill marks and definitely not a Panini. I spoke to the manager about it and he said it was their "interpretation" of a Panini. It does not indicate that statement on the menu anywhere, the server didn't tell me it was an interpretation of a Panini when I ordered the meal. It's like ordering the duck on the menu and they bring you chicken with a lame explanation that is what they think a duck should be. I got my bill and on the back I drew a picture of my interpretation of fifty bucks and offered that as payment for the meal. Wouldn't you know it, that was not acceptable to them for payment. But it is acceptable to them to give you some lame excuse of a sandwich. In all fairness, the manager was willing to take the cost off the bill for the sandwich in an attempt to make it right, but I think they are missing the point. Either change your menu and give an accurate description of the food or remove the item from the menu altogether. The other dish we ordered was fish and chips. The fish is old and has a really bad fishy taste. This is COD, a whitefish, so for it to have a fishy taste, it was sitting for a very long time. They over cooked it and salted to the point that is was more salt lick than fish. The manager did take that of the bill since it was uneatable. I wasn't looking to score free food, I wanted to eat a good meal and this place failed to deliver that experience. I do not think I will make it back to this place in the future and recommend you might want to skip it altogether.

Yelp
Southwest Chop was amazing! Great taste and filled me up! I also had Soup of the Day which was delish. My dad had the BBQ Pizza which he loved. Our waitress was so kind as well :)
