Best Japanese experience!! It’s not just sushi it’s an experience you have to try. Menus are hard to understand, but you can’t go wrong with any of the choices. Everything was deliciously fresh!! Flavors and fish are so unique, you won’t regret it. In fact, you will want to come back for the FULL experience. FYI asparagus pudding was to die for!

Chef Chan knows his sushi and Japanese whiskey. If you want to impress anyone visiting from Japan, take them here. Good sushi and whiskey is meant to be expensive. Don't let the prices scare you away.

Came here for Valentine’s Day. We had a reservation for 8:30 and were told they could not seat us because the kitchen was running behind. We were told 30 minute wait, then 10 minutes. However it did end up becoming a 30 minute wait. There were 10 people (5 couples) standing around in a very tight space waiting to be seated. We tried to order from the bar and server just straight up refused to take an order because “we are so busy, we just can’t). We were told the manager will come speak to us but they never did. What a disappointment. Not the frontline staff’s fault, but an event that was meant to be special was completely ruined by management’s lack of foresight.

Best sushi in Chicago. Both authentic and contemporary, innovative at the same time.

Fantastic sushi. The curated meals are done really well and forces you to try things you wouldn't necessarily try but really should. A bit on the pricey side. Dinner for two can easily run $300.

Largest selection of Japanese Whiskey in the Midwest. I've known Executive Chef Macku Chan for 15 years, during which time he operated another very successful sushi restaurant in a different Chicago neighborhood.

Man, this place is good. I had a prix fixe dinner for my birthday, treated by my fabulous date who used to be a server there. So, we may have received a little extra attention. But every single bite I ate was incredible. The sushi was some of the best I've had - very fresh and very carefully prepared. The non-sushi dishes were just as good. Excellent service, very helpful, not pretentious at all, and knowledgeable about wine and saki. Beautiful room. Get the tasting menu.

Sushi is my favorite cuisine so I make it a point to try different sushi restaurants in the city. Macku is by far one of the best I've been to. The sushi is fresh and tastes delicious! The presentation of the food is top notch. The place is small but quite intimate. The decor is spectacular. and the service is amazing. I would recommend a reservation if you are hoping for table seating or else you might get stuck with bar option only. I tried the tuna tartare special. It was so flavorful...I literally licked the plate clean. The price is pretty reasonable for the quality of the food and dining experience. The portions are somewhat small though. I would suggest purchasing a gift certificate from restaurant (dot) com so that you can save a little bit of money. I simply can't wait to return!
