Google
Delicious and fresh food, very friendly and helpful staff, honestly that’s the best beans I’ve eaten in a restaurant in the US, I will definitely come back

Maria Zeee

Google
Delicious oxtail soup with potatoes and plantains and cheese ball, the salad is fresh and vinegary the rice is also good. So is the spicy sauce, great to add flavor to the soup The service was also exceptional

Google

Google
Perfect spot for some hearty Colombian staples! I enjoyed the Bandeja Paisa. Cooked to perfection. The ingredients were fresh and served hot! The servers spoke just enough English that my bad Spanish didn’t matter. Welcoming and hospitable. It’s a small restaurant and it was full at 2pm.

Google
I had no idea that we had such a delicious Colombian spot here in Van Nuys! After doing some research, I found a TikTok that mentioned Macondo Kitchen. I decided to take my family to try it out. We tried the beef and cheese empanadas, the choclo quesos, a traditional plate, and their malt drinks. The service was lovely and the food was delicious. They have a store near their restaurant as well filled with such beautiful decorations and things to buy. Will definitely be returning!

Google
1st time we went there we got a picada, amazing, big and yum! Could feed up to 4 people. We had to cut the carne asada and Pollo asado because the pieces were big. 2nd time we went there, those big pieces became very tiny pieces that were not bigger than 1 inch. 3rd time we went there the picada became just as small to feed up the two people. EVERYTHING REMAIN THE SAME PRICE. 4th and last, I gave up and bought a tamale instead. $20 including tip, expensive tamale I ever bought. And it was absolutely not good. Two pictures from our very first picada and the last. Definitely not coming back. I got so disappointed 😞☹️.

Google
I always enjoy the food here. If I’m looking for something traditional or a twist on an old favorite Colombian dish, this is the place to go. My go to is the bandeja paisa… they don’t skimp on portions! And the buñuelos are so yummy!!

Google
Food is absolutely amazing and the owner cares a lot for his customers. I've tried two of the sandwiches and the asada fries. Cannot wait for more delicious quality food and to try the rest of the menu. Pure euphoria. Very filling but you'll never feel uncomfortable. Only complaint is the server ladies were on their phones and talking in the kitchen while the owner did all of the work. Server ladies never came by for a refill of water or to ask if we need anything. I wouldn't reflect it on the rating because employee behavior is a different topic. I didn't complain to the owner regarding this matter either. That's on me and I can own up to that.

Yelp
Food flavor: bandeja paisa campesina great flavor. Beans. Rice. Chorizo. Egg. Chicharrón. Carne asada. Aguacate/avocado. I usually order this one with a juice ( ideally Guanábana en leche/milk or water. Second option: Mora en leche. ). After that some almohabanas. The parking is bad . So I usually park next to the Gym which has plenty of space. Service : really good, always nice and food is hot and on point. Price : it is under $25 so everything is good and match price with quality Comment: don't expect the beans to taste like the beans from abuela Teresita or the bandeja paisa to taste like the one in Maru Rico, capital antioqueña o la ceja. This is a good place to have a good food made far way from Col.

Yelp
Everything about this place is worth a recommendation, the food is absolutely amazing, the natural juices are delicious, the service is great, super friendly people, also the staff make sure that they clean the tables right away when someone leaves, so it feels clean and comfortable, parking is easy! You should definitely go check!

Laura G.

Yelp
The food and service was amazing. I travel from Palmdale it takes me about an hour drive. Totally worth it. Don't forget to check out their Souvenir store they have so many cute Colombian stuff, from home decor to snacks. Defiantly recommend it.

Yelp
My family and I go here often for breakfast The food is delicious and authentic, the service was great nice staff and the place has a very homey, welcoming feeling. I will definitely continue to come back !

Yelp
We really enjoyed the food and service. The restaurant is small but very inviting. We tried the empanadas, pandebonos, buñuelos, arepas, morcilla and filete de pescado en salsa. Everything was delicious. Service was great; they were attentive and quick to bring out appetizers and drinks. I will definitely visit next time we're in town. Their Colombian store next door has a variety of products as well!

Yelp
I absolutely loved the food - it was incredibly tasty, with a comforting, home-cooked feel. The place may be small, but it's spotless, has a cozy atmosphere. I really appreciated the option to buy Colombian pastries, chips, drinks, and more. While I'm not fond of the area, the amazing food and exceptional customer service definitely make it worth the visit. We tried the caldo de costilla, bandeja paisa, buñuelos, and chocolate, and everything was absolutely delicious!
google avatar

Sandra D.

Yelp
The service was very good, everyone was lovely and helpful. The food looked beautiful but was very under seasoned. I really wanted to like it, but couldn't because it did not have the typical Colombian seasonings that one would expect.

Yelp
Loved it!!! The meal was so good and authentic Colombian!!! Reminded me of the awesome Colombian restaurants back in NY!!! So happy that this place was referred to me, it didn't disappoint at all! Will definitely be coming again and again!!!

Yelp
Great find in mid-Valley. Tasty and fresh Colombian food! Bandeja campesina and sancocho cola de res were superb! Friendly service too! Highly recommended.

Yelp
I have only had the empanada de carne here and it was for the most part good. I just felt like there needed to be more beef and that the ratio of meat to yucca was a bit lopsided. Other than that, this has been a nice quaint spot in a little strip mall in Van Nuys / Sherman Oaks that's filled with lots of good food options. The staff that I have encountered are really nice and you get the "small business" energy that really makes you want to support them. Parking is generally decent as there are spots here and there. But the strip mall where they are located at is a bit smaller than your usual so just be a bit patient. It's usually not an issue. The place seems to serve a lot of homey Colombian fare and I am pretty curious to try them. One of these days I'll do it when I break my diet haha. Learn a bit of spanish or bring a translator cause the staff I have encountered so far only seems to speak Spanish. More power to Macondo.

Yelp
This place was amazing! We've eaten in a few Colombian places around the LA area but we really were impressed with their food and service. They also had a small colombian store where we bought additional products. 10/10! Thank you and please keep it up!

Yelp
Haven't had Colombian food since being in Colombia in December, so was glad to run into this spot. Great menu with lots of classics. Wasn't extremely hungry, so I h a chicken empanada and their Peluda arepa - with shredded beef. Both were delicious. Had to acompany them with a Pony Malta! They had pandebono and buñuelos, so took some of those to go! There's also a sister store two doors down where you can find Colombian items. Will have to make it back when I'm more hungry to try the bandeja paisa. It looked delicious when the folks near me ordered it.
google avatar

Brandon M.

Yelp
recently had the pleasure of trying the sancocho at Macondo, and I must say, it was a culinary journey back to Colombia. Each spoonful was a symphony of flavors, reminiscent of homemade comfort. The rich broth, tender meat, and hearty vegetables perfectly captured the essence of traditional Colombian cuisine. If you're looking for another authentic delight, I highly recommend the bandeja paisa. Trust me, you won't be disappointed!

Yelp
My favorite Colombian spot in the valley. I always get their beef empanadas. 10/10 I've also had their simple breakfast and their arepas are soooo good 10/10 They are always super friendly too. Definitely recommend this place

Yelp

Yelp
First time here..... took over 1 hr to get our food. We ordered sancocho de cola and beef empanadas. Food was average, wait time too long with no AC. Service- only 1 server who happened to also be working the register. She did her best. When it was time to pay I had to get in line to pay because she was the only one working the front.

Eric S.

Yelp
Amazing and authentic! Return visit required! Staff was amazing as well! You must check out La Tiendita too, it's just two shops down and filled with the best Colombian snacks and frozen arepas.
google avatar

Rose H.

Yelp
Good food and service! Everything we ordered were delicious! The only complain I have is that I wish there were more beef in the Empanada and not so much potatoes. Aside from that, the Aji sauce was the bomb! I love it so much... I can drink a big bowl of that sauce! I LOVE THIS PLACE!!!
google avatar

Will G.

Yelp
This place is really good. I read some of the reviews regarding no prices, no restroom bla bla bla .... It is not expensive. You also have to take into consideration that produce itself is expensive. So this is just a sign of the times. I highly recommend eating here. Some items are low on salt, but some like it salty, some don't. Service is good. Friendly staff. I don't know if they speak English or not, there were some comments regarding that but hey, you're at a Colombian spot. I remember at Benihanas, the cooks didnt speak a word of English and no one cared. Overall, very happy with this place. Also, don't forget to check out the store one door over from them for all sorts of Colombian goodies.

Nathalee M.

Yelp
Delicious spot that serves authentic Colombian dishes! Locally owned as well. Don't pass this place up!! So good and hits the spot everyyyy time.
google avatar

Yelp
The other 5 star reviews must seriously be fake, BEWARE. This restaurant does not offer restrooms to their customers. They tell their customers to walk to Starbucks, which isn't necessarily down the street ! Secondly, their restaurant does not offer a menu with PRICES. So you're basically surprised at the end. If Mastro's Steakhouse offer pricing on this menu, so can this place. Smoothies are $6 each! Lastly, this food is not fresh. The caldo was inedible. The beef in the empanada tasted OLD and was thrown away. The ahi sauce/salsa is horrible, doesn't taste like authentic Colombian to me. NEVER AGAIN.
google avatar

Dory B.

Yelp
Great for arepas and empanadas and we go here often to eat because my wife is from Colombia and the people who own this restaurant are also from Colombia and serve the Antioquian Paisa cuisine better than anyone else in Los Angeles.
google avatar

Penelope L.

Yelp
Bandeja paisa is great! We had buñuelos as well and loved it con cafe con leche recommend
google avatar

Yelp
This place is a Colombian hidden gem. The bandeja paisa is a tour of Colombian cuisine. It has a little of everything. We really enjoyed it and can't wait to come back. The only lace is small and there is only one staff but they are very helpful.

Valentina V.

Yelp
Food is delicious. Authentic Colombian food and great quality service and they do have a Colombian store
google avatar

Willy L.

Yelp
God i finally found you guys today I never thought it was you guys now as am eating i can taste the real Colombian taste i highly recommend this place it has a different name but still the same flavor!!! Please don't disappear again!!

Yelp
Really underrated restaurant, especially when you look at the Valley as a whole. Consistently great food, good variety and great service. This is a place that may initially seem foreign or unfamiliar to newcomers but it's really approachable food for people who are new to Colombian food. I've eaten at a few different Colombian restaurants over the past few months and this is my favorite. Even my kids loved it and they can be picky. We told them it was 'Encanto' food and they were willing to try it and they ended up reaching across the table to sample across plates. I will certainly be in more regularly and it's clean and inviting also, especially compared to a lot of other restaurants. Modestly but nicely decorated, new tables, clean. Unfortunately not the norm at a lot of restaurants in the area. Give it a try.

Lui A.

Yelp
best colombian food in the 818! everything is amazing including the food and tiendita! shout out to g andres and his family holding it down for us out here

Silvia B.

Yelp
the empanadas were good and the sauce that came with it. the plato paida was delicious. Everything was well portioned.
google avatar

Joe G.

Yelp
This place is a hidden gem if you like Colombian food. The rating is based on their food and service. I haven't eaten there, only to go. The place is small and can get pretty hot. It's a new family owned restaurant trying to make it. The food is authentic and most people call in to go orders. I highly recommend their food but not the restaurant itself.
google avatar

Daniel O.

Yelp
Love the chicken plate! What I like is that the rice is not sticky. Perfect texture on it. Also the Mango drink is on point!

Pablo A.

Yelp
Muy buen servicio! Buena variedad de empanadas y otros platos colombianos. Hay mucho Parking tambien!

J B.

Yelp
We make the 20 mile drive down to Macondo Kitchen to enjoy the authentic Colombian food. My family is Colombian and totally recommend everything! Eating here brings me back to my childhood! The service is always great too!

Naty D.

Yelp
I had another amazing breakfast this morning. I truly enjoy coming here. I ordered café con leche and 2 empeñadas while I waited for breakfast and I ate them so fast. They were that good

Galicia A.

Yelp
The best Colombian spot in LA! Amazing food amazing customer service and a great spot to hang out and catch up on work or simply grab a yummy empanada :)

D C.

Yelp
Best Colombian food in Los Angeles. The Bandeja Paisa is my favorite dish but the empanadas are amazing
google avatar

Geraldine A.

Yelp
Ever since I have come to this new place. It was very good and there was nothing bad. Until, they added horrible things to Almuerzo. They've adding spaghetti and this watery soup which I think its so disgusting that I think I could not eat at this place no more. This is either hit or miss, the service was good and the ambiance was superb. But it is a hit or mess, I will likely won't be coming back here some time
google avatar

Richard C.

Yelp
This place is AMAZING. I used to live in LA and now I'm in Oregon so whenever I come back for a visit I need Colombian food. I gave this place a try and so glad I did. The bandeja paisa was incredible. Also had a chance to try the pandebono and that was delicious, too. Definitely hit this spot up next time I'm in town.

Rocco G.

Yelp
Their food is okay. Not delicious. They don't have a menu instead, one of their walls they have an improvised menu with no prices. They don't have a bathroom. If Morton's The Steakhouse have a menu why don't they offer one?
google avatar

Sonia A.

Yelp
My husband and I went for a late lunch. I was surprised how good their food was. My husband had the bandeja paisa plate while I had steak with onions plate. Tasty! We tried the beef and potatoes empanadas, definitely a hit. The server was pleasant and knowledgeable and we will definitely will be back. And lastly they have cheese bread, a hit for my husband and I. We ordered 8 cheese breads to go. That will go great with our morning coffee.
google avatar

Ashley C.

Yelp
Best beef empanadas and their juices are delicious as well! Will definitely come back!

Alexis S.

Yelp
There are no prices listed anywhere, not on the printed menus or the chalkboard....which is all in English. BUT none of the severs speak or read English. Trying to order was a comedy of error and waste of time if you don't speak Spanish. Food? So not worth it. Way Over priced and obviously not fresh. The meat inside the beef empanadas was frozen, which we paid $4 for. Awful. Don't waste your time or money.
google avatar

Mari-bel C.

Yelp
A clean place to satisfy you with tasty delicious food. I was hungry and had to submit a report for work. I called Macondo Kitchen and asked if I could plug in my laptop to work on my report while waiting for the food. they said "no problem". I was treated great, the food was delicious and the prices are reasonable. My husband ordered sancocho de cola and empanada de papa and I had carne encebollada. The portions fill you up and the place is clean. the staff is friendly, attentive, and professional. I highly recommend this place.

Robert P.

Yelp
We went there for a Birthday Celebration. I cannot say enough about the hospitality of the owner and the wonderful food. We had a variety of dishes including the chicken with mushroom, the oxtail soup, French fries piled high with chorizo, empanadas, and a sampling of cheese bread. Then when the owner noticed it was a birthday celebration he brought over a Torta Negra. It was delicious. There was such a wide variety of dishes that we will come back many times to try to sample them. The breakfast looks delicious also. I highly recommend this charming Columbian restaurant and look forward to many more meals there. The owner and his wife went out of their way to make sure we had a wonderful evening!

Yelp
Walked right in speaking Spanish asking if they had a menu and this guy responded in English... I thought they were Colombian and spoke Spanish. I'm native speaker so there's no way he didn't understand my Spanish. That was the first sign to have left lol. I spent over sixty bucks: empanadas, sopa de cola, bandeja. The meat empanada was mostly potato, a few strings of meat; the sopa was ok, the bandeja had a chicharron that was soft, only the top part was crunchy, the steak was flavorless (not even salt on it) and the chorizo was raw. I got home to season the steak, finish cooking the chorizo and keep cooking the chicharron (the consistency was more like a cow's breast than chicharron). If I'm going to spend money on food at a restaurant I expect it to be edible versus going home to fix it. I should have stayed in an just cook and save my money. I do not recommend at all. The only good thing was the aji for the empanadas and the "ok" customer service from the cashier. Other than that, nothing saves this place. I miss the Colombian food from the East Coast. It's a high standard, I know. I haven't found anything close to compare it to in Los Angeles... not going back to this one.
