"If ube is your religion, Macs by Ick is the church you worship at. Starting as a pop-up in 2019, this cult-favorite Filipino-owned spot drummed up throngs of fans and went viral for its ube “ice cream taco,” an ube extravaganza that starts with a homemade waffle cone dipped in ube-colored white chocolate, filled with sweet ube ice cream, and dusted with crushed pistachios. At the new permanent spot in Union City, you’ll also be able to get your hands on more ube-flavored treats in the form of soft serve and halo halo." - Lena Park

Super yummy and great prices! We had the tocino pandesal and bacon, egg, and cheese ube pandesal - both yummy. The ube soft serve was the icy kind which we liked and tasted very much like ube! The calamansi lemonade was refreshing and ube latte was also good (could’ve tasted a little more like ube)!

Music is a little loud but understandable due to opening day 👍. OG Halo Halo was really good, just wish they would have layered the ingredients a after a scoop of shaved ice since the the plastic spoons aren't string enough to mix. Minty milky child like, had a real mint flavor. Son killed the smashed lemonade. Good new addition to union city

It’s my first time going to a Filipino cafe that looks aesthetically pleasing. They really serve delicious Halo Halo. I didn’t get the original one since I always have it whenever I eat it, which is why I decided to get the Ube only version of it. I also like how big the Pan De Sal is since the ones I see from bakeries are usually small. Looking forward to trying other Filipino treats!

This place was shown to me by my mom an I said "THAT LOOKS GOOD!" . We went and it did not disappoint. Service: GOOD Food: SARAP (Delicious) I had a choco taco an it was good and the lemonade was HUGE I have put some pictures down below. (Ps: if you read this whole thing 👍)

Tried Macs by Icky for the first time. Went on a late morning on a Thursday. It wasn’t busy when we got there, but after ordering there was a small line. The service was great, was greeted with a smile, it was our first visit and the young lady that served us was helpful and patient. 👍 The gentleman that was working was also very nice, as I asked several questions 😊 We dined in, the wait time for the food was reasonable. I had the corned beef hash sandwich, a flavored lemonade and an ube crinkle. All was delicious 😋 Will go back to try different things as well as the same things 😊

The best desserts place in town!! Located in the heart of Union City @ Smith St.beside Filipino Restaurant “toppings” This shop is at the center of the building/Plaza and easily located at the intersection of the park. Ambience feels so relax, casual and it feels like home with more of a “purple”/pinoy vibes inside. The place is clean, organize and well maintained. Customer service is Top Notch! The husband and Wife owner/partner will guide you through their menu (food/snacks/drinks) There’s a selection/varieties of items to choose from.My suggestion is- try 2-3 items at once so you can savor the taste.👏👏👏 I loved the Overloaded Ube Halo halo mixed with ube cake pieces, Ube muddy cereal mix, home made ube halaya (ube jam) and Ube soft served on top. I just wished that they have more “UBE halaya/Ube Jam not just a smear on the cup, other than that it is one of my faves.💜💜💜 I also tried their fruity pebble cereal macarons-this one has the perfect quality and taste of macarons so please try their macaron,This Is what they’re known for eversince (Flavors can change ) ✅✅✅✅ Then for their Mac Nut Coffee/Latte with Ube soft top-This one hits the spot🔥🔥🔥 A must have A must try I will definitely will be back soon and try their other menu. Another TIP-✅check their Instagram for updates/store hours and MENU ✅Make sure to register your phone number for REWARD Points. ✅Bring your appetite with you coz you will be blown away😂😍 ✅Don’t forget to take a photo and share with your family and friends. Let’s show love & support ✅💜✅❤️

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Mac’s by Icky is an absolute gem! Their drinks are fantastic, and the Ube is simply divine. Every baked good I've tried has been amazing. The customer service is top-notch with a personal touch you won't find at places like Starbucks or Philz. Despite being always packed, they get orders out quickly without compromising on quality. I love coming here to lounge, prop up my laptop, and get some work done while enjoying their delicious offerings. The ambiance is super chill, music is on point and GREAT and again, team members here are so awesome! I'll be coming back again and again! Highly recommended!

It’s nice to see a small business coffee shop take over the old Paddies location—a spot I was a big fan of, especially as someone from the Une. I wasn’t too fond of Hippies Brew before them, and the customer service there left a lot to be desired. That said, one thing I’ve noticed here—and at places like HB, Boba spots, Starbucks, Peet’s, etc.—is that when you ask for light ice, you don’t always get it. A lot of the time, baristas will still put in regular ice, assuming customers won’t notice. It’s quicker for them and saves on product cost. I know this because I worked at Peet’s for two years. I’ve done it myself, although I usually honored customer requests. There’s a clear difference in weight and volume between light and regular ice, and it’s easy to tell when it’s not right. I guess next time I’ll just say “no ice” to avoid the issue altogether.

Yelp
Filipino owned cafe! Good eats and good vibes! Came in for a quick bite. Great service! Thanks Macs By Icky for a great experience!

Yelp
Usually this place Is a 10 out of 10. I usually get a Iced pistachio latte with oat milk and caramel drizzle. My order was made with chocolate no big deal I just drove back and i just ask to exchange it. The drink comes green you can't miss it. The sweet lady behind the register handed me a cookie on the house and my drink. But it was all brown lots of ice very watery. I asked is this the pistachio latte she looked and said yes with a smile. I am pregnant and emotional so I said thank you and left. It was not my order it tasted like a caramel iced coffee. And I'm sitting in the car crying. I didn't see the guy who I believe is the owner. So maybe that's why I had this experience idk.

Yelp
I almost didnt wanna give such a lengthy review but the folks at Mac's deserve it!!! I've been ordering from them for a couple months now and every single item I've had has been a banger even the items I wouldn't normally try have been a hit. From the Iced Pistachio Latte to the ube thai tea every drink I've had has been fresh, substitutes and add ons were perfect and everyone at my job is now a fan. That Bacon Egg & Cheese on UBE PANDESAL SMACKS if you haven't had it grab one also the Brown Butter Pistachio Chocolate Cookie is like the viral Dubai chocolate bar in a cookie form I've had to refrain from ordering more than one with my weekly coffee orders lol. This place is definitely an ode to pinoy culture and a little Disney magic that makes this place standout amongst other cafes in the bay. Thank you as always Mac's

Malena I.

Yelp
I literally just left Macs 5 minutes ago & here I am writing a well deserved review for them. That's how you know the hype is real lol. Cookie order: brown butter ube, ube crinkle, Oreo cookies&cream, & original chocolate chunk. 10/10 for my order & here's why -cookies aren't overly sweet -portion is generous -flavors & ingredients taste fresh -the ube they use doesn't taste artificial & overly sweet like in typical Ube desserts -customer service was friendly & quick especially with long lines I'll be back, salamat po Macs for the yummy desserts & welcoming hospitality!

Yelp
Macs By Icky is one of my fav Filipino cafes. If i lived closer, i would be coming here so often. They have a big space for indoor & some out door seating. We came when they opened on Saturday since we were in the area. We ordered the Ube Thai Tea, Ube Pandesal w/ Egg, cheese & bacon, Ube Tres Leches & Ube Crinkle Cookie Croissant. The Ube Tres Leches is one of my favs from them and I've gotten this multiple times from them. This is definitely the spot for Ube items. They also have a ton of coffee, ice cream & baked goods to choose from. Service was pretty fast. Parking is a mix of free street parking & a small lot behind them. Will be back soon!!

Yelp
Mac's by Icky is hands down my favorite coffee spot in Union City! Their ube flavors are incredible, but I also love their caramel macchiatos and seasonal menu items. The Gingerbread Latte was absolutely delicious, and the Caramel Macchiato with the ube soft top is a unique and tasty treat that I can't get enough of. The customer service here is fantastic--they even remember your name, which is such a thoughtful touch. The atmosphere is perfect whether you're studying, working on your laptop, or just catching up with friends. One of my favorites this past season was the Pumpkin Spice Chai Iced Latte. I'm sad to see it go now that it's the new year, but I'll definitely keep coming back to try new drinks and enjoy my favorites. Let me tell you, the cookies here are absolutely amazing! The Ube Crinkle Cookie and the Ube Cookie are out of this world. They're the perfect mix of chewy, texture, flavorful, and honestly, they're a must-try. Pro tip: definitely grab a cookie (or two) to go with your drink--you won't regret it! Mac's by Icky really stands out as a cozy, welcoming spot with delicious treats and drinks that keep you coming back for more. If you haven't been here yet, do yourself a favor and check it out. Highly recommend checking out Mac's by Icky if you're in the area. A true gem!

Yelp
Lots of space - great for hanging out and meeting up with friends or co-working Calamansi Black Tea was sweet and good! The pan de sal was ok, but the meat was really really bland needed a kick or achara sweetness or some soy sauce, like some sort of char to give it some flavor. Disappointing only because it was kind of expensive for something that felt matabang (bland), surprisingly flavorless. I've been here before and everything was really good so was a little sad there was no sweetness to the meat, but the drinks saved the day! Service The staff person couldn't tell me if one of the ice cream taco flavors was good since they hadn't tried it (strawberry I believe), but at least they were honest, which is really important when reviewing food recommendations from anyone. Would come here again and try something new.

Jhanelle C.

Yelp
love this place! I asked a worker what their recommendations were and they suggested an iced white mocha latte with a strawberry foam top (i think that's what the drink was- SO GOOD) and an ube latte. I go here often and they're very consistent. They have seasonal drinks, filipino inspired snacks, a great ambiance and staff. Can't wait to come back :)

Stephanie M.

Yelp
Ube everything and I love it. We got the ube latte with a ube foam on top and the ube milkshake halo halo typa drink - these two drinks were delicious and the ube flavor was strong!! We also got a ube croissant which was delicious. The place itself is cute with some TVs and a few tables ~ Would definitely come back and try more of the other food and drinks!

Cecilia Jane N.

Yelp
Everything I have tried is really good! My favorites are the tocino spam pan de sal, blue citrus arnold palmer, calamansi black iced tea, and their muddy mixes. The place itself is decorated really nice and clean. Service is friendly and fast!

Trinh P.

Yelp
I love love this place!! I loved it prior to her brick and mortar store! Oreo cake 10/10 Ube and chocolate chip cookie 10/10 Ube croissant 10/10 Great service! Great staff! Quick service. This place can eat really busy and parking can get packed. Indoor and outdoor seating options. Pastries sell out quick so make sure you plan accordingly. What a great addition to this city!

Felix D.

Yelp
Visited with my friend on a Saturday evening and there were a few tables open. There is a TV to watch and some cute Christmas decorations in the corner. We ordered a ube waffle which was perfect. The cream was light and fluffy so it complemented perfectly with the warm ube waffle. The halo halo was perfect to share with my friend and it's fun to mix it all together and get a bit of everything in each bite. Will come back to try their other menu items!

Andrea S.

Yelp
Have been waiting to check out this spot! Ordered Pumpkin Latte and Macadamia Latte both were amazing! Highly recommend this place if you enjoy sweet coffee! There are SO many delicious sounding drinks on the menu I cannot wait to come back to try the Honey Latte! Cute spot to get your sweet fix!

Yelp
Ever since it opened, a lot of my friends would post about it. My bf and I decided to stop by after going to a farmers market which was located right across from the store. Upon entering, it's decorated very nicely and has great artwork on their wall. The employees are really quick and kind w/ their service and the drinks came out really well. I remember one time when I had called early in the morning of Juneteenth to see if they were open bc I wanted to stop by before work. Maybe around 10 mins later, someone from the store (perhaps the owner?) called me back to confirm their hours, this was super nice. After looking on the menu and trying to decide what I wanna get, I got their Mac Nut latte bc everyone from their reviews said it was good and my bf got their ube coffee. After the first sip, I wanted to get a second cup. Ever since then, I often dream about it and am so tempted to go back every day to get it lol. I might sound dramatic but wait till you try it. My bf got their ube coffee, and the coffee is pretty strong. It didn't taste acidic nor burnt however the ube flavor was not as prominent as we wanted. We also tried their lemonade and that was soooo refreshing :) I tried their tocino pan de sal & the corned beef pan de sal. I really enjoyed their corned beef as the meat was savory and had pieces of sweet white onion in a sweet buttery bun so it was the perfect snack w/ the drinks. For the spam, it was good but I enjoyed the corned beef more. I felt the spam was a bit sweet for my liking. If you're ever in this area or you have been waiting to try this spot, pls do not wait, just GOOOO.

Yelp
I was craving some sweets even on a cold day so we went here since they have such a variety of food and drinks. Ended up getting a OG halo halo and a cookies & cream tres leches that caught my eye from the display case. The halo halo had an assortment of toppings located at the bottom of the cup, like red bean, jackfruit, banana, etc. It's then layered with shaved ice, ube soft serve, and cereal. I loved that the shaved ice was a great consistency and melted quickly in the mouth. I had a halo halo previously (from somewhere else) that had chunks of ice, which definitely threw me off and didn't make for a great bite. I was glad this wasn't the same. The soft serve was delicious and paired well when mixing with the rest of the ingredients. A lot of the toppings may be hard to get initially since they're all at the bottom. But they add a nice texture and surprise flavor to each bite. I've never had cookies & cream tres leches so I was super excited to try it. The cake is soaked in the liquid and topped with cream and cookie bits. And wow! The first bite was sooo good. I wanted to each the whole thing then and there but had to hold back. I think there are cookie bits in the cake too? I will say as it stands, I would get it again although I think there is room for more cookies & cream flavor (maybe the cream can incorporate it?). Staff was quick to take orders and call for pick-up. There are tables inside to enjoy the treats. I wanted to try the calamansi black tea and cannoli as well but didn't have room in the dessert stomach for them. Will have to come back again, as I enjoyed everything!

Learnee L.

Yelp
I was bummed that the coffee place that used to be in the same location left but glad this business replaced it. I was hesitant to come in but it having a WiFi got me to go and do a quick work while I enjoy food and halo halo. Ordered the original halo-halo and spam musubi. Musubi was good, needed larger piece of spam I think. Halo-halo was ok but it felt like ube ice cream with some stuff with it. Didn't quite hit the halo-halo spot. Service was good and quick. Place is huge and could fit more tables n chairs but I'm not complaining. Street parking but not hard to find.

Elaine S.

Yelp
Haven't had the time to order, just wanted to stop by and check out the ambiance. Love that this is next to Toppings. Next time I will come and grab something. I'm a huge fan and follow them on social media

Angeli S.

Yelp
Finally got to try their coffee. I ordered the Mac nut latte and added a sweet cream soft top. It reminds of Hawaii in a cup it wasn't overly sweet which is great. We also ordered the cookies and cream croffle. Super overloaded with chocolate. It was a bit sweet for me.. but it was still good. It's definitely something I would share and not eat in one seating. Will be coming back to try more off their menu!

Celina N.

Yelp
Got the viral croissant cookie here and the pistachio latte. The croissant cookie is to die for, very chocolatey and love how it's layered. There's a cookie layer in the middle and on top. The pistachio latte was also good, had a really strong nutty flavor. I definitely want to come back to try out their other drinks.

Lilyann N.

Yelp
Pistachio latte with oat milk was such a delectable surprise!! So delicious, well-balanced and not too sweet. Love the Asian inspired flavors in the drinks.

Cindy L.

Yelp
A local neighborhood gem for all ube cravings. I loved the ube ice cream on a hot summer day. If you like strong ube flavor in your ice cream you should definitely come here. Will definitely be back to try the ube latte!

Lindsay L.

Yelp
My friends and I went here and ordered the Ube Latte, Cookies & Cream Croffle, Affogato Swirl, and the OG Halo Halo. Ube Latte- pretty good Cookies & Cream Croffle- not bad Affogato Swirl- good, but the coffee taste overpowered the ube taste I got the OG Halo Halo and I have to say that this had way too much ube and ice for me. The ingredients listed on the menu for the OG Halo Halo do not mention ube jam (unlike the Ube All Day Halo Halo) and my drink was smothered in it. Other than ube jam, there was lots of ice, ube ice cream, a chunk of leche flan, and maybe a small spoonful of everything else. It was definitely disappointing (and I'm Filipino). The ambience was average and the service was decent- nothing amazing or memorable. Not sure if I would go out of my way to come back here again.

Victor G.

Yelp
Macs By Icky opened where Hippie's Brew was. Interior similar. Decor transformed to reflect the fun & diversity of the drinks & foods. Offerings: Halo, Halo, soft serve ice cream, croffles, pan se sal, expressos & coffee, special drinks... Order promptly taken at service counter. Line moved fast. Drink came quickly. Sips: Ube latte (hot, 6) -strong expresso surrounded by whipped milk, house made ube syrup. Full bodied sweetness & boldness of covfefe. Fab ube taste! Drips: Kain na (Let's eat in Tagalog -April is Filipino food month...

Yelp
I came here on a Tuesday I think it was last week. I live in concord but had to come to union city last week. I was looking up coffee places to get a matcha and this place and another place popped up & this place looked really good. The other place was in Fremont so I decided to come here. I got here around 11am and everything looked so good! The place was playing old school music which I enjoyed. The place looks clean! I ended up getting the pandesal with cornbeef for my grandson. He liked it and I had some. It was good. I liked the ube coffee I had. I really wanted something matcha but I didn't look long enough to see if they did have it, didn't want to hold people up. I saw they made a Thai tea with ube that looked really good. I've made those at home so I know the one there was probably soo good! I ordered a ube threes leches Togo and a ube cookie butter cookie (I think that was the name) Both really good! Can't wait to come back to try the ice cream tacos! So many places are making these which is great because I don't really see the chocotaco's anymore and people are making different flavors! Also they had halo halo. I don't really go to that side of the bay but when I do definitely will stop by again!

Arlo T.

Yelp
This is my first time visiting the physical location since they opened. It such a good venue for them and the surrounding stores around it seem really good also. I ended up getting the calamansi black tea and they even let me go lighter on the sweetness which was good. This place seems like a nice hangout and I would go back again. I remember picking up the food at pop ups, I'm glad they have the space here. The staff was quick and looked like they like their job even if that day was hella hot lmao.

Lai L.

Yelp
I have been following Macs since she was doing pop-ups and me picking up orders from her house. I was so excited when she opened up a storefront, but it took me a while to visit because I just do not like crowds and waiting. Since some of our friends were meeting there, I decided to swing by. It was around 1PM and it was poppin' still. There were a lot of customers getting their post lunch fixes. I wanted everything on the menu, but I contained myself. I got a Mac nut latte, a mango/ube soft serve with Oreo crumbs and a spam tocino sandwich. Everything was pretty delicious. The mango has a little tart to it. The latte was on point, and the sandwich was simple, but good. I also liked the interior of the place. They did a great job with the decor, very vibrant and modern. The service was also on par and music was good. Can't wait to come back to try their other items.

Ylleana G.

Yelp
The drinks were delicious. Cold foam is my favorite, and they make a great one here! Staff was polite, patient and efficient. The place has enough seating for customers. The atmosphere was relaxed, casual, and youthful. For non-coffee drinkers, the ube milky would be a great go-to sweet treat.

Lyka J.

Yelp
I went here today with my husband just to try something different. They have variety of food/ drinks which is good but I notice that food is on the expensive side. $8.50 for a cup of Ube dessert or halo-halo? And $3.50 for a pcs of Ube crinkles. I paid $25.00+ for 2 drinks and 2 crinkles. (W/o the tip) the food was ok. I feel like I was expecting a lot (since I'm a Filipino) from Ube overload, but it's not that rich or flavorful. The ambiance was ok. The staff was knowledgeable when I ask abt the menu. Good place to treat yourself but not affordable to try regularly.

Danielle M.

Yelp
Good vibes all around here. I love that the venue proudly showcases Filipino culture and that the menu itself has a twist on Fil-Am treats and drinks. The graffiti and vibrant decor give the place a sense of Bay Area character that's recognizable and much appreciated. Since coming here, I've had the banana latte (hot), and loved that while there was the rich banana flavor, the drink still retained a clear coffee taste. Staff here are super chill and friendly, and I'm looking forward to coming back to indulge in other flavors and treats!

Sherman T.

Yelp
Filipino owned business with culturally inspired desserts, snacks, and beverages. Located where Hippies Brew and Paddy's used to call home, Macs by Icky brightens up the corner on Smith Street with their vibrantly colored catering van parked outside and their delicious purple ube everything served inside. If you're looking for a quick caffeine fix, they have a full espresso menu in addition to some specialty drinks. I didn't get a chance to try them this time around but the drinks do look tasty! We came here primarily for their sweet treats. They were as delicious as they looked and the prices were fair. Ube pistachio taco - premade, frozen and ready to be eaten. This was divine! The crunchy pistachio coated the whole curvature of the dessert taco and the taco was filled to the brim with ube ice cream. This item alone would bring me back and I don't even particularly like pistachio! Ube croffle - warm, crispy yet chewy, and coated with ube filling, cream and drizzle. This item takes a bit of time to prepare but it's so worth the wait. It comes out beautifully decorated and ready to share. I got a glimpse at a catered order that seemed to be a huge order of these scrumptious purple snacks. So if you're looking to bring some goodies to a party, this is it! Mouth's watering just thinking about it! Ube soft serve - refreshingly cool and topped with your choice of fixings. On a hot day, this generously portioned glob of frozen dessert will cool you down and fill you up. They have ube, vanilla and swirl that can be served in a cone or cup. The staff here are super friendly and patient. This is a local business the community continues to support as many of the patrons who came in seemed to be regulars or knew the staff. The vibe of the shop is casual and the artwork and music sets the tone. Great representation of the Bay Area! There are plenty of seats and standing tables available for a medium sized party to come in and chill (figuratively and literally with their ice cool food and air conditioning). Parking can be a bit tough since it's just about all street parking but in the neighborhood and near the park across the street, there are plenty to choose from. And parking is free here so don't fret! You could always consider walking a 5 minutes from the gym nearby, too. Overall, Macs by Icky is a local gem and as they continue to serve great looking and tasting drinks and food, they'll definitely continue to build a strong following of regulars of locals and an increasing number of visitors to Union City!

Julia L.

Yelp
I had been craving Halo Halo for a few weeks and was so happy when the husband and I stumbled upon Macs by Icky after having dinner in the area. There was a line forming out the door, but it moved fairly quickly. After looking over their menu, we decided on the OG Halo Halo and it did not disappoint! The soft serve ice cream, condensed milk, and all the extra goodies inside were so yummy and hit the spot! Portion size was also generous to share. Additionally, Macs by Icky offers soft serve, pastries, and coffee and tea. The shop is clean and bright with artwork and seating available, however, it can be limited. Overall, enjoyed their Halo Halo and would recommend giving them a try!

Noel K.

Yelp
I had been wanting to visit this place for a while, and my husband finally took me here. I was excited to try their Ube cookies, so I got one of each kind they had on display: brown butter base cookie, ube crinkles, and bb ube smores. My husband also ordered their ube all day halo halo and cookies & creme croffle. The ambiance was great - I loved the modern purple interior design, it had a hipster vibe. My favorite cookie was the brown butter base cookie because of its strong brown butter flavor. The ube crinkle was messy to eat due to the powdered sugar, which went everywhere after I took a quick bite. I didn't enjoy the ube smores cookie because it was a little too sweet for my taste. My husband's halo halo was okay, it lacked ube flavor and had too much ice. However, the cookies and creme croffle was good - it had a light and buttery flavor.

Venus L.

Yelp
A friend suggested meeting up at Macs by Icky one Saturday morning and it was the best suggestion ever. Macs by Icky is located in an unsuspecting part of Union City near a park that's perfect for walking off all your sugar. Parking is along the streets and not metered. The inside has a good amount of tables, although it can be hard to snag a table on the weekends. The menu has a good amount of options ranging from croffles to sandwiches and drinks. It was our first visit so I opted for: -Ube tres leches (very moist, very delicious) -Cookies and Cream croffle - albeit too sweet, but presentation was great -Spam pandesal - flavor was good, but wish the spam was toasted -Ube latte iced - not too sweet Overall, for a first visit.. they knocked it out of the park and I'd gladly come back if I was in the area.

Yelp
Sopas is sooo good it turned into sopa Sundays for me it's a weekly thing now since it's only served on Sundays

Gwyne P.

Yelp
I've been following Macs By Icky for a long while now and finally got to make a stop to their shop! It's a nice place with chill music, bustling with people catching up. It's a very cozy vibe. I ordered the ube overload halo-halo, the OG Halo-Halo, and the boneless brown butter and ube cookie. All of which was so good! My dad wanted another halo-halo, lol! The cookie was my favorite. So tasty and I love the blend of ube crinkle with the brown butter. It's a delicious touch! Everything was priced reasonably too! Cant wait to come back!

A new Filipino coffee shop opened on Smith Street Union City . I loved that this place continued as a coffee shop. The owner did a good job decorating the place. There are several tables and chairs for dine-in customers Once you walk into the counter, they have a shelf for cookies and a shelf of wrapped pandesal. Looking at their overhead board menu, they have Halo Halo, and specialty coffee and iced tea. Since this is our first time, we ordered their Strawberry iced tea and ube cookie. We've to come here again and try the other items on their menu. It's very tempting to buy and get all of them. This place looks very nice and the food is delicious. Can't wait to come back here again

Yelp
Such a cool set up in quaint old town Union City with ample parking and a perfect park across the street to sit and enjoy all the goodies. We enjoyed a sampling of several sweet as well as savory items. Ube Latte & Ube Milky - decadently purplicious and well flavored. Pandesals - Spam & Tocino, Corned Beef Hash and Ham & Cheese. Each of these was served warmly toasted on fresh pandesal! The corned beef hash brought back childhood memories and the pandesal combo was surprisingly good. The cheese on the ham and cheese was rich and perfectly melted. Sadly the spam was alone in the sandwich without any tocino but they appeared to have subbed an extra slice to make up for it. Ube Crinkle Cookie & Brown Butter Ube Cookie - both delicious but the Brown Butter Ube was especially yummy. Ube Tres Leches Cake - so moist and fluffy, saved this for a treat at home. The service was efficient and welcoming despite the queue. There were ample seats inside and out to accommodate the wait. I would definitely recommend this as a stop for some Filipino inspired drinks and treats!

Yelp
My wife and I came last weekend to try some of the Ube goodies and we had a pretty good time. First off, I love how vibrant this place is with lots of locals coming in for coffee, snacks, etc and just chatting around. The vibes consist of Polynesian reggae, graffiti art on the walls, busy staff, and local people of all ages. It can get pretty loud here. I ordered an Ube macaron, Mac Nut Latte, Ube muddy buddies, and a spam-pandesal sandwich. My order took almost 30 mins it felt like! It took really long and I'm not sure why other than maybe the orders ahead of me? Either way, it took longer than I thought which felt like a drag. The Mac-nut latte was a bit too sweet and syrupy flavored which we thought was just ok. The pandesal and spam sandwich was soggy and didn't have much flavor? Maybe it was Tocino spam? The Ube macaron was delicious and worth trying along with the Ube muddy buddies. The macaron had a great texture tasted better than some of the macarons I had in Paris! The muddy buddies were $11 and the most expensive item we ordered but they had lots of flavor and great texture. I do recommend people coming here to try their macarons and other items! It's a vibe for sure. I'd like to come by again to try their cannolis and ice cream tacos. Otherwise, this place is pretty cool and another fantastic Filipino establishment in the area!

Yelp
My family and I came here on a Sunday morning. We ordered an iced ube latte, an iced mac nut latte and a plain croffle. With tax and a 10% tip it came out to just over $21. My mac nut latte was very tasty. Sweet but not too sweet. The croffle was also good. Not what I was expecting. It came out warm and flakey. While the ube latte was good, it really didn't have much ube taste. That's really the only complaint.

Yelp
A friend of mine came from out of town and I knew I had to take her here to try. We came on a Saturday evening coming from an early dinner at Birdhaus and it looked like a lot of people we saw at Birdhaus also came here for dessert. All I knew about this place was for their ube desserts so I was already curious what made them special and I was surprised to see they serve affogato with your choice of swirl. The coffee they serve in the affogato compliments the flavor of the ube swirl very well. I'm used to affogatos losing the flavor coffee but theirs was really good. My friend got the ube croffle and added ube soft serve on the side. If she were to order this again she might probably skip on the soft serve as the croffle alone is already very sweet. She got more pastries than me and seemed to enjoy them all. I will say their brown butter x ube crinkle cookie is something addicting.

Yelp
Wish there were more pictures of things, as I didn't know what some of the menu items were. While what we did order was yummy, I love me a strong ube taste though so I was expecting the ube flavor to pop a bit more in all the items we got; including the soft serve, macarons, and baked cookies. Guy at the register was nice, service was fast.

Yelp
If it's anything about ube... I have to try it out! We got here on Saturday right when they opened and I thought we came in too early. We were wrong! Parking can also be a pain so get here as soon as you can. Thankfully we came at the time we did because that line grew soooo fast. On top of that they only have certain food/pastries available so if they run out, tough luck! Their food items also rotate meaning they won't always have the same type of pastries/food. I got the ube all day halo halo, the crinkle cookie, ube butter cookie, and the ube tres leche. Halo halo and tres leche was ok. Prob pass on those next time. The cookie though was bomb! I would like to try their croffles next time and another drink. Definitely will be back.

Yelp
My friends wouldn't stop raving about Macs by Icky, so I knew I had to stop by this local gem. The flavors and vibes were so immaculate, I stopped by twice in one day. And even with that said, I'm already looking forward to going back to try more desserts! Food: 5/5 If you like ube and desserts of all kinds, this is a place you have to try. I got multiple items to share with others, but I'm not gonna lie, I ate about 90% of everything I have pictured. I'm not one to eat a lot of desserts because they're usually super sweet and I get tired of the flavors. But, not in this case. I 100% recommend the ube pistachio icecream taco! The muddy mix was probably the only thing that was a little too sweet for me, and I was sad that they didn't have the ube version. The strawberry version isn't bad, I just prefer the ube. They also have a variety of drinks and other food items that I didn't get the chance to try, but it's definitely a spot I will be going back to just to try these other items. Service/Staff: 5/5 They were all super kind and worked efficiently. I wasn't there waiting for very long after ordering at the counter. Even when I stopped by again later at night, it had just turned 8pm but they were still kind enough to let me in to grab a few items while they were cleaning up. Space: 4/5 It's a pretty small place on the corner of the street, so you'll have to find some street parking nearby. Or just have someone sit in the car while the other goes in to grab what ya need. There is some seating inside, but not enough for a group larger than 4-6 people. With 6 people, you'd be pushing it because you'd need to put tables together.

Yelp
GRAND OPENING - love that so many came out and showed up for the grand opening of the one and only Macs by Icky!Sooooo..... everything is absolutely delicious and made with care and quality. You just cannot say that about most coffee spots with every product they make, but you can about this one. Family and friends are super warm and welcoming. Highly recommend trying one of everything and dare you to have a favorite LOL I can't seem to decide so every time I snack on them I choose a favorite of the day. Haha that's the best I can do and what a wonderful dilemma to have. Love the location and super easy parking on most days with a park right across the street, so grab your treats and enjoy some nature on good weather days. Perfect hot lattes to warm you up on chilly days in unique flavors like ube, pistachio, banana, etc Yum. What are you waiting for!?

Yelp
I was surprised Hippies Brew wasn't here anymore, but was curious about it and boy was Smith street busy. I was surprised even on a random Wednesday there was a line practically out the door. Between the 2 of us there were too many options so we settled for 4 drinks, an ice cream taco, and a cookie. Be prepared to spend, the total for us before tip was around $42. Hope you're ready for your daily intake of sugar. Will have to see next time if we can alter sweetness level. The lemonades looked so good, so we got a POG lemonade, pistachio latte, ube milky, and calamansi black tea. the POG lemonade seemed the most worth it you pretty much get a SOUP tub of lemonade and you see ti's sliced and smashed on the spot. It was good but next time I'll wait for some of the ice to melt to dilute the sugar a bit. The pistachio latte the cream was GOOD, but the latte itself was sweet, might opt next time for a regular latte with one of the flavored creams on top. The ube Milky is good for the kids, no caffeine, but also on the sweeter side. I added more milk to it when we got home. The calamansi black tea was good. Pretty much an arnold palmer flavor a little more tart and bitter because of the calamansi juice. This one actualy wasn't overly sweet and was perfect. The ube ice cream taco with pistachios was good. The waffle on it was still crispy and great flavor. The ice cream was purple but I don't know if the waffle was strong but it could've been vanilla and it would've been the same. Our fault for not grabbing a receipt but not sure if it was an $8 taco or a $10 taco? If so it's pricey for a dessert. The ube brown sugar cookie also unclear of how much was a good brown sugar cookie, but again we were missing the ube flavor.

Yelp
Macs By Icky is familiar but not a new kid on the block in Union City's old town. It now inhabits the former Hippie's Brew and is a longtime well loved local business. My first impression was the esthetic and vibe. It's a very lively space with music playing, ceiling fans, and a colorful wall panel with a TV and emblazoned with their trademark logo. Perhaps the most liveliest component is the buzz of all the patrons patiently waiting in a line past the door and the staff busily working on their orders. I was very impressed with the variety of offerings. I was only familiar with their furikake chex mix, macaroons and lemonade previously. But this cafe menu runs the gamut from pastries desserts and treats, to breakfast items and croffles, coffee and tea, to halo halo and desserts -- all highlighting ube or Filipino flavors. So many things I want to try here including the ube, mac nut and banana lattes. Glad to know there is an option for halo halo close by again. And Ube All Day Halo Halo looks really interesting. The croffles are pretty but most everything coming out of their kitchen looks pretty. Glad to have a brick and mortar for Macks by Icky so close to us. With all their options, I'm sure they will continue to grow their loyalty in the area. Always happy to support Filipino, woman-owned local business!

Yelp
I'm glad to to see that Macs By Icky has a brick and mortar location now! Occupying the previous spaces of Paddy's and Hippie's Brew, I was able to attend the soft opening today. I arrived a bit early and was first in line. Once they opened, the cafe was nicely decorated with artwork by the Illuminaries. The staff and owners were very welcoming and attentive. For the soft opening, they didn't have a couple of my favorite items available, I went with items that were available. The items that I purchased were for my cousin and myself: - Ube muddy buddies - Pistachio macarons - Ube macarons - Corn beef slider - Spam tocino slider - Ube all day halo halo If you're an Ube enthusiasts, the halo halo, macaroons, and muddy buddies are a must try! The pistachio macaroons were full of pistachio flavor. The corn beef and spam tocino sliders were made with warmed pandesal bread, how they're traditionally eaten in the Philippines. Both were excellent and tasty. There were other items I wanted to try, but I'll save that for my next visit. If you're paying by credit card, they do have a credit card tax. Another gem in my city of Union City! Congratulations again Macs By Icky!

Yelp
It's my first time going to a Filipino cafe that looks aesthetically pleasing. They really serve delicious Halo Halo. I didn't get the original one since I always have it whenever I eat it, which is why I decided to get the Ube only version of it. I also like how big the Pan De Sal is since the ones I see from bakeries are usually small. Looking forward to trying other Filipino treats!
