Mac's industrial Bro Bar:
I actually used to be a regular here. Not because this place was *the best* but because I liked their food, I lived close enough, and they were friendly (knew how to generate a tip).
The food is good for bar food. I've tried a lot of different things on the menu (including the reuben, which is decent, but not the best in Minneapolis), and was never disappointed with that.
I got acquainted with a few of the bartenders (I believe two are the owners, and they're brothers or cousins, if memory serves).
Everything was pretty friendly and personable, until the last time I was in (not recently, as I will not come back to these assholes). It was some kind of wing night, and the vibe was completely off with these guys (the owners). I had to keep asking for things, and they basically made it clear that they didn't want me there for some reason; this felt oddly personal. I'm not sure what changed from the last time I was in, or if they were just having a particularly bad night (the place was almost empty), but I finished my food, and left, while making some pretty awkward eye contact. I won't be back, and I won't try their newer bar out that opened a few years ago, either.
If you treat me like crap, you get one star. Experiences like this always puzzle me. I tip really well, but over the last year or so, I've been re-thinking the way I spend money as a customer, because of stuff like this- Do bartenders/servers think we'll just keep tipping them well automatically, once they have us, because they were friendly to us, initially? We're not friends, Broseph.
Ugh.
