The 21 Best Restaurants On Cape Cod - Cape Cod - The Infatuation

"Mac’s has a number of locations across the Outer Cape now, but their original Wellfleet location is the best. They serve great lobster rolls, fried clams, and more at picnic tables on the sand overlooking the bay. The fried stuff is gluten-free and the menu is massive—Mac’s is perfect for a great lunch, but an equally good casual dinner. It’s a meal you’ll remember months later when the sun is setting at 4pm and you can't go outside without a puffy coat." - jennifer mattson, carlo mantuano

The 18 Best Lobster Rolls On The East Coast & Northeast US - The Infatuation

"Mac’s has a number of locations across the Outer Cape now, but their original Wellfleet location is the best. It’s arguably the best place for fried clams (with gluten-free breading) and an amazing lobster in Cape Cod that you should eat at a picnic table on the sand overlooking the bay. Google
The location justifies going here. It's on the water in Wellfleet, so that's nice. The fish is very good and very fresh, but the portions are VERY small, the fries are out of a bag frozen and unremarkable and the slaw tastes like nothing. Their signature hot sauce is probably the best thing they offer. If this place wasn't located where it is, no one would bother going. The dish pictured is the $22 fish and chips. Your eyes don't deceive you. That's a small paper plate for scale.

Google
The lobster roll was ok but as others have stated, the best option is to go into the market in the back and order a whole lobster. They will steam and crack the lobster for you. Whole lobster is priced very well and a 2lb was the same price as a smallish lobster roll ordered in the front

Google
Mac’s on the Pier is an absolute gem—but here’s a pro tip: skip the walk-up counter and head into the seafood market. I picked out a fresh lobster, and the super friendly and patient staff steamed and cracked it for me right there. What sweet people—so helpful and kind! The whole thing cost about a third of what you'd pay at the main counter. I grabbed a seat at the picnic tables overlooking the water, added a cup of melted butter for just $1.50 (yes, really!), and had one of the best meals of my trip. Hands down the BEST lobster deal on the Cape!

Dan Gill

Google
Had a cup of clam chowder my wife did. Also, we had a great server smiling the atmosphere, and views were great also. Check them out. You won't be disappointed.

Google
Solid first visit of the season. Tried the crunchy bowl with salmon (pictured). Although initially I was disappointed in the portion of salmon and thought $32 was a lot of money for the value I received, I left feeling full. So can't ask for much more. And most importantly: it was delicious. My partner consistently enjoys the fried fish burrito. Hot sauce on the side. IYKYK. After dinner we got ice cream. Service was pitifully slow, especially considering it was not even peak season. On the whole we enjoyed our meal. Other highlights include: Great music selection (Gregory Isaacs), great company (some local dogs) and even a few local celebrities sighted. Ice cream entertainment included a man playing music on his teeth with only a spoon.

Google
The little public beach seating area was really noice. We got the clam bake, 6 oysters with a 2 lb lobster and little neck clams. The oysters had broken shell in them and were poorly prepared. The clams were bad, and I unfortunately threw up in the parking lot. The little neck clams tasted like rotten bile… worse than my own vomit. The Lobster was over cooked and really rubbery. The only thing I ate was the corn… which they didn’t bring out until 10 minutes after we got the lobster and clams. I asked them to give me a refund on the meal. We sadly ended up throwing out most of it. I’m not sure if they will refund me, but I felt sick the rest of the day. This was our only day out in Cape Cod so it made the day a bit of a struggle. I didn’t eat dinner because I still had no appetite.

Google
Overpriced, even for the location. Their “large” clam chowder, that would be regular anywhere else, is $14, which would be $6-8 anywhere else. A small chowder, fry, and drink is $18! That outrageous. $25 for a poke bowl?! But due to the location, they could charge more and people will still line up in the summer. As a local, I won’t be going here again.

Eric Wilson

Google
Great location on the pier. I wish their vegetarian options were better: their burritos are dry, even after requesting extra salsa, which is not very good. But seafood lovers will thrive here, and the ice cream is good. Plan to sit at the picnic tables on the beach next to the shack!

Yelp
Mac's is in full swing now! Fish tacos are again excellent & beet poke bowl much improved flavor wise. Great place to catch a breeze & bite.

Yelp
Stopped by this famous joint on a recent friends' trip to Cape Cod. My local friend told me this is like the place to go, and sure enough it was packed even when we went pretty late at night. It's all order outside in a line, and then wait for your order to be called to pick it up. There is a lot of outdoor seating, but it was still hard to get a seat despite that. They offer basically every local fish here and some other specials too. I tried clam strips for the first time and they were delicious, really crispy and a great food to fry. The fried scallops were really good, but scallops are a little too rich to be fried for me, so recommend trying it once, but definitely not a go to for me. The fish and chips were fantastic. It's definitely a family friendly joint, especially with the many choices for ice cream, this place was packed. A fun little stop to go to for anyone!

Yelp
Sitting by the water is always a 10! Picnic tables so fun. Fish sandwich, lobby roll, crab cake sandwich, poke bowl. All 4/5 but crab. Very small. Overwhelmed by the bread. Not much flavor. Clam strips were yum, though

Yelp
The ice cream is all I buy here now, after two experiences with just plain awful food. Now I may not even go for the ice cream, which is always melty as they hand it to you (the "hard" ice cream) and the jimmies/sprinkles that I paid extra for were almost nonexistent. The worst part was the super slow service with a young lady, who was clearly new and learning, left to fend for herself in register AND get the order filled! There were four able bodied workers at the next window doing NOTHING who could have helped her for sure! The line was long at the ice cream window and there was none at the food window. NOT A GOOD LOOK, MAC! Help the trainees. Don't throw them in alone!

Michael W.

Yelp
Ordered the Fried Cod Fish Sandwich and onion rings. 50% of the batter on the onion rings were flaked off at the bottom of the serving container. The batter had no crispness whatsoever. Soft actually. The sandwich bread broke apart almost immediately. Used a knife and fork for a sandwich. Terrible. I would give the sandwich a 5 out of 10 only because the fish was fresh. $25 for the order. Don't mind paying if it's excellent food. This was far from it.

Yelp
We look forward to Mac's all year and our Cape vacation wouldn't be nearly the same without it. Incredible seafood and gluten-free fried seafood, which is rare! Sitting at a picnic table in the sand with that view and an ice cream after - nothing can beat it.

Yelp
It's was delicious. Great view. I didn't get utensils so a little hard to eat - didn't go ask line was too long. I understand that the Mac's Shack is great.

Yelp
Great location, even on a swelteringly hot day (because we got a table under the awning). Had a hankering for Wellfleet oysters and they didn't disappoint. Deep cups, good (not too big, not too small) oysters with plenty of "juice" that you can either drink with the oyster or pour out. We also had cups of chowder which were excellent - plenty of tender clam meat, not too many potatoes and a milky but not thickened cream base. Pricey but pretty much all options for oysters and chowder are pricey these days. Counter service so its hard to really comment on the servers - we ordered and paid, the food was prepared and they called our number. Will say that the wait for a dozen oysters and two cups of chowder was probably 15 minutes. I thought they'd come out in 5 but the view more than compensated for the wait.

Yelp
Small portions, smell of diesel fuel, loads of pigeons, 45 minute wait for food. Much better options
google avatar

Deb M.

Yelp
Ice cream decent, nothing special Service is questionable. Witnessed a man in front of us questioned why he got the wrong cone. Instead of taking the order back and fixing it, they just gave him an empty cone - he had to fix it. They told him to be careful because the cone is delicate. Now really...take the order and fix it for him!

Yelp
In terms of location & convenience, I think Mac's On the Pier is a great option in Wellfleet. I was looking for something to go before making the drive back, and I think it's a solid casual option for just that. Service was friendly, too. It's right on the harbor, with a number of picnic tables overlooking the view. I got my lobster roll & corn on the cob to go, along w/a fresh-squeezed lemonade. The food was a-okay: the lobster was admittedly overcooked, but I think for the convenience, view, and overall quality, it's worth a stop!

Yelp
This is where I go when the crowds are too big at other restaurants. It's fast and it's reasonably good. It's great to sit outside and see the beach. I've gone about four or five times in the past 10 days. Once I ended up with a burrito when I ordered a quesadilla, and yesterday they ran out of diet Coke (really?). Their chicken quesadilla with refried beans is pretty damn good. Clam strips are ok, you can find better at PJs or the Beachcomber. It's a very good place to bring children. There are plenty of other children around and no one is disturbed. If I really wanted a great meal, I would not come here with all the other choices in Wellfleet. But I do come here when I'm hungry and I don't want to wait. The ice cream is always a good choice.

Yelp
Very fun little spot...order and eat out in lovely tables surrounded by harbor, sandy beaches and sounds of a bygone era...great seafood right on the water.

Yelp
I ordered the fried calamari. It was a lot flakier than usual and it was a bit hard to eat without accidentally inhaling a flake but the dish was great. I don't love how it was served with marinara sauce but it doesn't hurt the dish. I really loved sitting outside by the beach and enjoying my appetizer with a coke. It was delicious and the view was beautiful. I also appreciate how they allow dogs.

Yelp
I am writing this review because our experience today was terrible. Mac's on the Pier has always been our go to. We went to Mac's back in July and I ordered the Salmon Poke bowl. (I had it at Mac's shack and it was amazing) The bowl I was served was all scraps of salmon with the skin still remaining and it was so chewy. I didn't complain, I just figured someone was lazy about the trimming of the fish. Fast forward to today. We were a group of 9 people, but placed 3 separate orders. Mistake #1, total honest mistake, they didn't give me my daughters lemonade. When I asked for the lemonade she told me that she gave it to me. I reiterated that we didn't get the lemonade. She then pointed at another family and said, see it's over there, it was on the second tray. I explained, that is a different family and I don't know them, we only had 1 tray. She continued to argue with me until another staff member stepped in and handed me my lemonade which was apparently sitting right behind the counter. #2 Then they gave me the wrong thing. I ordered a quesadilla, they made me a burrito. Fine, they fixed that. #3/4 Then my brother and my nephew BOTH had hairs in their clam strips. My brother was given a refund, my nephew ate around the hair. Bleh. #5 Then my mother had ordered mussels and they were so sandy that you could hear her crunching from across the table. She asked them to fix it and they did. Too many things wrong to give them another chance. So, we will not be going back. They used to be our fave, but it has definitely gone down hill. So sad.

Jake B.

Yelp
Sadly Mac's on the Pier has gone way way way downhill. Food has become borderline terrible. I ordered a swordfish sandwich, coleslaw, and chowder - the sandwich and slaw were almost as bland as the chowder, which might be the worst chowder I've ever had - on or off cape cod. Runny and tinted a shade of greenish yellow which was gross. Despite the low quality the place was a mob scene - I guess word has not caught on yet that this spot is no longer worth the cost. On top of that they are not equipped to handle the takeout mob. Completely chaotic and disorganized during peak dinner hours, as if they'd only been in business just a few weeks. Definitely will not go back after years of eating here. Go to the Bookstore Restaurant down the street instead. You won't finish your meal feeling completely ripped off.

Yelp
This is one of those stops we come to each year as well. The menu that is offered here is endless, as we end up getting a cheeseburger or a hot dog with fries. This year, I changed it up and went with a Grilled Chicken Sandwich which was tasty. It can be a bit messy, just make sure to lean over the plate. The time of day matters, and coming at lunch and dinner on the dot fills up. Please have patience as things will move alone, the workers here do their best every time. Once finished ordering, they will call a number that has been assigned and you'll pick it up. Just note, that doesn't apply to ice cream, which in that case waiting upfront is required. Enjoy the food, and be mindful of the wind when sitting outside, as there is no indoor dining.

Yelp
This place is located at on the pier (like the name says) and there is plenty of parking, which is needed. When we pulled up there was a line of 15+ people ordering at the food side-the other side is ice cream, which had no line. Plenty of time to study the menu... we ordered the small onion rings, which were perfectly battered and fried. 1 grilled shrimp burrito and 2 fried fresh fish burritos. The burritos have a good size, and were filled with Spanish rice, refried beans (you could choose black beans instead) house made salsa, Monterey Jack cheese, and sour cream. The first bite was warm the fish, rice, refried beans, and the melted cheese. The second bite was fresh and cool... salsa. I loved it the way it was wrapped, one side warm and the other side cool and fresh, the perfect combination with some Tabasco on the middle. Definitely a good burrito... I was able to get a bite from the grilled shrimp burrito, and that one was great too! There is plenty of seating outside or you can sit also in the covered area with large picnic tables.

Yelp
My personal favorite of the Mac's locations. The setting can't be beat, with umbrella-covered picnic tables (grab your own) overlooking boats and the harbor-- it's a seaside seafood shack in the truest sense, a full experience, a few minutes outside main street Wellfleet, and a welcome salty breezy relief from Cape Cod's abundant roadside spots. At Mac's, your piled-high seafood arrives in paper boats on red plastic trays, and it's the stuff you dream about come February. Sure, there can be a wait to order at the window, and then again for your number to come up, so it's best to time arrival well before you're actually hungry. Another pro move is to go in off hours (beyond peak lunch/dinner: think late afternoon)-- it feels like the food gets more attention, so items like the whole-belly fried clams can be sublime. I've never strayed far from the classics, though the menu offers some broader options, it's a spot where simple seems best and I won't argue with that. They do a perfect job shucking oysters and clams on the half shell, which couldn't be fresher (obviously, since these oysters come straight from the water you're looking at). Ice cream is good too, completing a picture-perfect summer menu.

Yelp
I wish I could Make regular Cape trips just for this ice cream! Some of the best around. Been enjoying it since I was a kid. Cape Cod staple!

Yelp
We are HUGE fans of Mac's Shack and buy all of our seafood at Mac's. LOVE Mac's but today was a bit of a disappointment. We drove from mid Cape to have lobster rolls. We arrived 11:15 and the line was short but it grew. Service was super slow but steady. The human behind the counter was wonderful and helpful. The couple ahead of us wanted sushi but it was not available so the counter help recommended the poke. We listened and decided to follow the recommendation. The poke at the sister spot, Mac's Shack is sublime. Today, NOT AT ALL. I ordered the 6 oz hot buttered lobster roll and my daughter, the poke. I should preface this review further by sharing, I travel for lobster rolls. I met my partner of 7 years over lobster rolls at Red's in Wiscasset Maine. We do lobster crawls, several times a year. Our criteria for a great roll is a toasted brioche style bun and fresh chunks with little filler. A side or two of good fries and slaw and man, we are happy. Mac's roll disappointed. The rolls, 24.95 featured fresh meat and a drizzle of hot butter. It came without sides and the meat sat in a soggy wet boring hot dog bun. The flavor was good but given I can find great lobster rolls (on Cape) priced less with sides, I was rather disappointed. I'd give it a 6 on a 10 scale because the meat was fresh. Now, the fail was the poke. It was small for sure. Also, the sushi rice that comes with traditional poke was exchanged with hot seasoned, rather greasy rice. It marred the flavor of the entire dish. Such a bummer. We saw they have house made lemonade. I would be curious to know what they use for sugar, it marred the taste of the fresh lemons. We left hungry .... We will stick with Mac's Shack, a world of difference. Reading the wonderful reviews on Yelp, there might be enough positives to give the pier a go for some. Great views for dining out. 48.00 plus tip for two lunch entrees with a house made lemonade.

Richard N.

Yelp
great location...good raw stuff...however the clam chowder was poor...very liquidly ...not creamy at all....could use more potatoes and clams...overall....very average place..
google avatar

Dan B.

Yelp
My girlfriend did like her warm lobster roll so that's where my stars are coming from, however I was pretty disappointed in my cold lobster roll. It was so heavily smothered in mayo I had to use about 5 napkins to try to soak it up, by then the bread was all soggy. No coleslaw just lettuce and celery. No need too cover up $35 worth of good lobster with anything. Let the lobster shine.. Then we got some clam chowder that was too watery. Hopefully we'll find some decent seafood before leaving Cape Cod
google avatar

Elizabeth S.

Yelp
Pretty good if I say so myself. For lunch I had the lobster mac and cheese. Absolutely scrumptious. Some of the best I have EVER had. Better than my mother's mac and cheese (but don't tell her I said that LOL)! Ate it up in minutes. Later we had the ice cream. This is where one of the stars were knocked off. I just wasn't impressed with the flavors. Or the quality. But I truly love their food and the location is beautiful.
google avatar

Ashley C.

Yelp
The weather was perfect had to grab a cone at Mac's and sit on a bench and take in the bay views
google avatar

Steffen R.

Yelp
Best hot lobster roll I've ever has come from Mac's on the pier. Period. Yet to be topped. Didn't have to wait too long despite the large crowds at the shack, and our whole group was happy with the various foods we ordered. Sad to miss out in the off season trips, but always happy to revisit when we can! Seating is on shared benches in the sand so if you're looking for a private quiet table, you won't find one but you can always pick up and take your order out to wherever pleases you. Definitely recommend if you're looking for a great seafood shack to make awesome versions of your favorites or to try some classics for the first time.

Yelp
Total tourist trap. Beautiful location but inedible meals. Ended up throwing out most of our meal. Went up the street to PJs where we had much better quality food, w better pricing. Lesson learned, go to a place that has consistent meals and value.
google avatar

Dave M.

Yelp
Rarely do I feel compelled to write a bad review, but this place is a total waste of time. It's flat out, a tourist trap. A long line? It must be good. Not at all. Small portions with huge prices. The only thing they had going for them is the location. The warm lobster roll was nothing to write home about. It was tough and over cooked. The fries were soggy. The quesadillas were equivalent to a public school's hot lunch caliber and made Taco Bell's look like Gordon Ramsay made them. I really wanted to try the clam chowder. My 8 year old chowder fan questioned that it said onions on the ingredients (which was odd in itself. Who needs to list what's in their chowder on the Cape?) I said to him there's onions in all chowders and soups and that he's just never noticed it. Well what we were served was an onion soup basically. I've never had a worse chowder. Not creamy whatsoever. Incredibly watery. And sooo many onions. Like what gives? Did you get a deal on ordering onions that you felt you had to use them all in one pot of chowder? Just make onion rings like a normal place. He couldn't even eat it. So not wanting to waste the $11, I suffered it down. I used it as a teaching lesson that even though we may not like something, we can still eat it. It won't kill us. Or at least I hope this won't. His siblings asked him how he would rate it on a scale from 1-10. He said a zero. I said a one. Only because I could tell they used fresh clams. Due to the chunks of shell that nearly broke my teeth. Do yourself a favor and get a can of Campbell's Chowder and skip this scam. Oh yeah. There's no public restroom either. You've been warned.

Patricia W.

Yelp
Service was really slow and disorganized. After waiting 45 minutes for our order, they got our order wrong, the fried clam was decent but not hot, fish tacos lacked flavor and fish burrito also lacked flavor. Homemade lemonade was definitely not homemade. View of the water was pretty, but there wasn't enough seating for all the guests waiting for their food, so people were aggressively trying to get our table from us even before we had finished eating.

Tamara E.

Yelp
Very busy on a blustery October day, but the food is worth waiting for and enduring the wind (although we did lose one precious WellPoint oyster to a wind gust). Very fresh seafood, and maybe the best oysters I have ever had. Delicious monkfish sandwich, made buffalo-style with hot sauce and blue cheese dressing.
google avatar

Denise B.

Yelp
Love every single thing --fish taco, fried clams, arnold palmer, unsweetened ice tea, lobster roll. Just don't get the crab cakes. Just don't. Trust me on this. Enjoy.
google avatar

Jennine T.

Yelp
We come down to Wellfleet every summer, and for some reason, we end up here once every vacation. This is the last time! This year, I managed to avoid eating dinner here. . . the lines are long, the prices aren't great, and then you have to snag a table while everyone else is trying. Ugh. It's not relaxing. We also usually go at dusk, when you're eating in the dark (unless you use your cell phone for light) and being eaten alive by bugs. So, anyway, we like to fish on the pier, so I thought we could get the kids ice cream here. . . only because PJs was closed. Ugh again, because same story -- super-long line, everything is expensive (small = $4.50) and the portions are VERY small. And, they whip it together so fast, it's not quality, so my son got an ice cream and the scoop literally rolled off the cone because there wasn't anything in the cone. He was sobbing, and it's so mobbed, you don't feel like going back to ask for help. So, $18 for 3 smalls, 1 of which fell in the sand. . . nope.

Yelp
Solid spot with lots of options on their menu ranging from fast food to seafood to fried food to ice cream and smoothies. Came on a coldish Sunday and there were only a few people around. They have outdoor seating with the tent and outside the tent for warmer days. 1. Mussels - Biggest mussels I've seen. They tasted fresh and it came with a butter dipping sauce. Simple and good. 2. Clam chowder - Water-based which I was not expecting. It was filled with ingredients which was nice and stayed hot. It was also a bit saltier than I expected. Overall, I'll come back to try other things on their menu if I'm in the area. The views are phenomenal and make the meal more worth it.

Evan R.

Yelp
I've been coming here for the last 15 years and it's always been my favorite lobster roll on the cape - I'd literally recommend it to everyone. However, I went back this year and was incredibly disappointed. I spent nearly $50 on one lobster roll and one cup of clam chowder. The hot lobster roll used to come with a toasted bun and lemon, this year I got a bun straight out the bag with incredibly small bits of lobster (usually I'd get large chunks - an inch in length compared to this year's quarter inch). The clam chowder was also incredibly watery - far from prior year's standards. I checked back with the staff and they said it was a new cook this year (which makes little sense) and they offered me a kale soup in exchange. Overall, there is far, far better value and quality options located within a 1 mile radius.

Jane F.

Yelp
today I received a large serving of rubbery, hard clam strips, and the dish was literally half-filled with bits of fried batter. When I showed the servers, they gave me a small serving of soft fresh clams with too much batter. the clam chowder was 80% potatoes.

Rick F.

Yelp
Very slow service and impersonal service - only helpful with questions and the lobster role was ok at best with a lower end portion and no larger pieces. It was a lobster role, so still tasty, but the least favourite of all these we've tried on the trip. Location on the bay front is nice.

Yelp
This review makes me sad to write- Especially because I love Mac's Shack, and frequent Mac's Market and Kitchen all the time. With Covid in full effect, I was totally jazzed to hear Mac's had another establishment that was offering take out! Sadly, Mac's on the pier does not hold a candle to the other Mac's establishments. For an app my wife and I ordered Shrimp Cocktail. Horrible. Overcooked to the point where it tasted like eating sawdust wrapped in rubber. The Lobster roll; same thing- vastly overcooked, with an underwhelming amount of meat... Also it doesn't come with fries, or chips, or anything? My wife ordered the Tuna steak dinner RARE. She said rare, prb 3 times on the phone. Welp, it was medium well/well. It also had this sad pile of overcooked veggies, and a HUGE portion of rice and ginger covering the tuna. It was just not good. The Mac's management should be paying close attention while Mac's shack is closed- this is the single restaurant open that is representing their brand. Especially on a Friday night post memorial day. 1 star for the really nice team of young kids running the shack. They were super nice on the phone, and equally nice and efficient in person!

Yelp
A fried fresh fish burrito was stuffed and tasty with good proportions. It's a bonus that the rice is flavored (Spanish rice) instead of plain. The rice also absorbed most of the salsa drips (too many burritos don't and make a mess). Get add-ons if you want spicy; the default is pretty plain.

Yelp
Do NOT recommend the tuna wrap. 2 slivers of well done tuna and lots and lots and lots of lettuce (Macs you should be ashamed) nor can I recommend the salmon dinner unless you like a squirt of hotdog mustard as the mustard glaze. Terrible. That said, I can recommend the tuna poke bowl.

Yelp
We love Mac's on the pier. Love the take-out and sitting on a picnic table on the Bay. Everything we've had here is delicious and consistent. Love getting a soft serve here too and watching the boats.

Yelp
We ordered the shrimp crunch bowls. 26.00 each. They lost our ticket and we waited an hour for our meal. At 30 minutes, we were told they were working on it. They were supposed to have 6 shrimp, there was only 2. At this point I didn't have the energy to complain. The food, what we got, was tasty. They offered us some clam chowder, but we weren't interested.

Yelp
Great fish sandwich, got some clam chowder as well. Service was very quick even on a somewhat busy day. We realized they had ice cream as we were walking out and the soft serve was great. Nice view of the bay from the outdoor seating. Definitely a place worth stopping at.

Yelp
We ordered the lobster roll, and it was mediocre and we thought expensive. I ordered the same without the roll and just requested it be put on a lettuce leaf. Very chewy texture with strong lemon flavor. Very small portion of the lobster salad on the roll as well as in the paper container, in my opinion I can't comment on the other seafood as we just had a craving for the lobster. Because of this experience I would not go back since we had much better lobster salad at other places. Yes the view is wonderful with outdoor seating.

Yelp
Being a "townie" I am happy to support this local joint. My go to place for one of the best steak bombs I have ever had. They have some special marinade they put on this that makes it unique. Also sautéed with pepper and onion. It's $8.99. You can't beat that right? After a soda and tip it's $13 or so. This place is designed for the pandemic. Staff is really sweet and familiar appearing to all customers. Both consumers and staff wear masks comfortably. And of course outdoor seating on the harbor.

Yelp
No frills seafood served on the pier for take out or to be consumed at picnic tables overlooking the harbor. Not romantic no atmospherics but good food reasonably priced and well prepared. The local grilled scallops were nicely done and tasty, the accompanying veggies were pleasing firm and not overcooked

Yelp
We were a family of 6. We ordered 1 crab cake sandwich, 1 salmon sandwich, 1 lobster roll, 1 grilled shrimp salad, 1 quesidilla, 1 fish taco and 2 clam chowder. The servings were tiny, cold and either tasteless or terrible. Lettuce and tomatoes tasted sour, salmon overcooked, balsamic dressing was sour and old. The smell was horrendous and just an overall horrible experience. On top of very expensive. We would have rather eaten at Dunkin Donuts for dinner

Yelp
You like terrible, overpriced food? Then you'll love Mac's. The number of people in line would make you think they must have good food but you would be wrong. I ordered the Portuguese squid stew, onion rings, and seared tuna sandwich based on the window cashier's recommendation. The stew was decent but not particularly flavorful - basically just squid boiled in a light tomato sauce. The onion rings had a hard, thick batter coating and were some of the worst I've ever had. The tuna in my sandwich had a unappetizing gray appearance and tasted a few days past it's prime. My friend ordered the scallop burrito and disliked it so much she only had a few bites. The view from Mac's outdoor seating area is quite nice, but the number of tables is very limited and you have to hover around people eating their food in order to vulture a seat. The best part about Mac's was that I didn't get food poisoning.

Yelp
We stopped for two chowders today. It was cold and rainy, but thought we'd eat in the car and watch the surf. 8 bucks a piece and the chowder was barely above room temp.

Yelp
$32 for a large whole belly clam ala carte to start vs Arnolds A large order of fried oysters $34. Not large though. Greasy. Coating tasted like they hadn't change fry oil in weeks. Hard to taste the brinyness of the supposedly wellfleet oysters. Diners beware
