Two Steak Restaurants Are Opening in Austin in 2024 | Eater Austin

"I noted that the mac-and-cheese chain Macs will open its first Texas location inside the Round Rock Kalahari Resorts & Conventions at 3001 Kalahari Boulevard starting Sunday, December 17, offering a variety of mac-and-cheese dishes including carnitas and the Hangover, which features hash browns, grilled hot dogs, and bacon." - Nadia Chaudhury

Mac’s Mac & Cheese is an absolute gem! We were blown away by how quickly we were able to order for our large group—super efficient service with plenty of seating to accommodate everyone comfortably. Every mac and cheese option we tried was rich, buttery, flavorful, and incredibly hearty. It’s clear they don’t skimp on quality or portion size. We ended up coming back for seconds later in the week—it was that good. This place is now officially on our must-visit list anytime we’re in town. Can’t wait to bring more of the family next time. If you love comfort food done right, Mac’s is the spot!

The buffalo chicken Mac was very tasty. Wasn't expecting shredded chicken but the portion was huge. Friendly and helpful service. If you're in the resort already, this is the place to get a reasonably priced delicious meal.

It wasn't bad and was actually filling. But it is pretty expensive. 1 drink is like 4$ Waters 4.50 The mac meals are 14 to 16$ each

Google
Would have easily received five stars but the employees of this place seem like they have no life in them. Management should either considering hiring others or retraining. Here’s a couple examples: - When we walked up to the screen to place our order, an employee just looked at us… no Hi. No Hello. Not a care in the world. - I walked up and asked if I could have a Togo container behind the counter. The employee replies “ Can you get it yourself”? Well excuse me ☝️ Usually customers are not allowed behind the counter. As for the food, it was very tasty and filling. Be careful with customizing any dishes. They are extremely expensive. Drinks are also very unreasonably priced. We might return again. We are actually locals that live nearby and were not staying at the resort. Our return depends on if they improve their staff. - Follow for more thorough reviews of places in Texas and beyond!

Hot fresh delicious food. Great selection. Clean establishment, friendly staff. A little complicated to order (had to use a kiosk thing) Overall very pleasant spot to get delicious Mac n cheese

Mac and cheese came out Luke warm. Only ate a few bites. Even tried heating it up but it just got worse.. Fries 🍟 were crispy and delicious. Cheesecake 🍰 was super soft and creamy.

Google
Macs is an amazing new addition to Kalahari in Round Rock. Kalahari being from the Wisconsin Dells has brought an amazing food concept also from the Wisconsin Dells to Round Rock. Food is great and love the hot Mac creations. The restaurant was crammed in however and not given a large enough space. Prices are a bit high because they are in the resort, kids meal portion is a rip off, not worth the price and wish they would offer locals a regular discount not just on special days. I would call if the best option families have at Kalahari, everything else is overpriced food you can get the same or better across the street or down the road.

Google
You order on a touchscreen. They have several macaroni bowls to choose from. Once you select, you can delete items then you can add items at additional cost. You select your beverage and then go grab it from the cooler. Finally you pay. My receipt was a blank slip of paper. They bring your food to the table. OMG was it delicious. Definitely go.

Yelp
This was some of the BEST mac & cheese I EVER have had! 5 stars! I ordered the mac & cheese, but I added bacon to it and they did not skimp on the bacon at all. The cheesiness of it, combined with the bacon and breadcrumbs made it amazing. Highly recommend!

Yelp
This is a cool concept of a restaurant serving different kinds of mac and cheese dishes. It is in the Kalahari Resort and provides a different food option from the normal burgers and fries The staff is friendly and helpful You can order at a kiosk or with a person. You can eat there or take to go

Yelp
Why 4 stars? Because this is a solid option for Kalahari dining. --- --- --- Macs is a new addition since our initial visit to Kalahari two years ago, and we were both happy to try it out. It turns out, it's one of the better food options here, especially for the money. Double Cut Steakhouse has some pretty high-end steak, but you will also pay a premium for it. If you're looking for something more in the fast casual price point, but also better quality than typical resort hotel fare, Macs hits the nail on the head. I went with the "Memphis", which had pulled pork, provolone, mozzarella, onions and BBQ sauce. My wife went with the BBQ chicken, which had chicken. cheddar, mozzarella, onions and BBQ sauce. If they sound pretty similar, they were. They were so close visually that it took us a bit to figure out which was which. We had no complaints and gobbled them both up. We also ordered a carrot cake, which unfortunately was about what you'd expect (pre-made hotel quality). Next time we are at Kalahari, we will definitely be eating at Macs again.

Yelp
In Kalahari Resort. So many options for Mac & Cheese here. Very pricey. Only one vegetarian option that I could see. It would have been nice to have more meatless options. I expected more variety there. Order from a kiosk, so kinda fast food vibe. Eat in seating.

Yelp
Well if you're hungry and enjoy anything cheesy this is the place. The popeye skillet is my favorite with veggies and white cheese. And the hangover is the hubs' favorite with a mix of meat and cheddar. The kids enjoyed their plain Mac and Mac with hot dogs, chips and milk. It's self serve with kiosks and you pick your hot skillet up at the counter. We went with a small and large group and it worked out great both times. But a hot tasty meal and decent timing in a busy resort, you can't beat it.

Yelp
I had a conference at Kalahari so I came here for lunch. It's a fast casual restaurant and the food here is heavy. It's a lot of it too and it really just is Mac n cheese with different flavors. It's not the healthiest meal but it is a tasty one. I got the bacon chicken ranch. It's enough to split with two people. You can order at the counter or at the kiosk and then you sit down to wait for your food. If it's busy, there might be a long line and a wait.

Yelp
First time at MACS. I saw it once while at Kalahari Resort. Finally took the time to eat here. What a pleasant surprise! I expected the mac and cheese to be bland. I was very wrong. The taste was really good! I ordered the BBQ chicken mac and cheese. A friend ordered Popeye one. I was not disappointed at all. I ordered from a kiosk as I walked in. Took a number and took a seat while I waited for my food. It was not crowded since I went for lunch. Food was ready in about 3 minutes. My only complaint is that I had to get up from the table to pick up my food from the counter. Nevertheless, I enjoyed my food while watching the people walk to and fro inside Kalahari. I will definitely return to try another tasty selection.

Yelp
I was at the Kalahari for an event and 5his was an option that was not too prices that sounded goodm I got the Popeye and it was very good! The cheese was creamy and tasty and the toppings were plentiful. The ordering was fast and our food was readyquickly, which is impressive for how busy they were. It's definitely a solid option for anyone at the resort looking to get full for around $20. If I'm back at the Kalahari, I'll definitely return!

Yelp
Amazing Mac and cheese. Was located inside the resort. Nice decor. Didn't really need to be checked on.

Yelp
I'm a Mac and Cheese lover, and really enjoyed the different types they offer. I loved it, I will definitely be back!

Karlee N.

Yelp
The food was amazing, some of the BEST mac & cheese I've ever had. The service was good, you order for yourself on the kiosk and when they bring the food out, your buzzer goes off, then you go get the food yourself. Depending on what drinks you got they either give them to you or you get the cup and use the fountain whenever. The ambiance was nice, the setup was super calm and chill, overall my family and I enjoyed this place.

Yelp
Below average food with a steep price. Spent $60.00 and ended up throwing more than half away. Go somewhere else!

Yelp
The failure of self checkout and self service!!! You order from the Kiosk, then you grab a buzzer and enter your number so you can come get it yourself. The nerve of the place to ask for a "TIP" too!!! Omfg really?...food wasn't even any good...this is the epitome of value from Kalahari Resorts. Poor quality and service for a crazy high price!!! Only place that does it worse is Disney!!!!!!!

Yelp
Large portions adults could share an order. Delicious! Easy to grab and enjoy. Kids loved it.
