This review is for the Macy's at Lenox Square mall. This store came through for me when I was in a pinch, looking for a skinny necktie to go with my navy slim fit suit for an upcoming wedding. My girlfriend got me a couple Michael Kors ties as a gift from this store. I really like those ties, so naturally, we came back to this store looking for more.
We shopped around other department and retail stores (e.g. Dillard's, Banana Republic, J. Crew, Brooks Brothers, Zara) and quite honestly, on that day, I didn't find anything that I loved. I also realized how challenging it can be to find good skinny ties, which leads me to believe that online may be the best way to go. In-person, Macy's seemed to have the best selection and, coincidentally, was running a one-day sale on men's neckwear.
I found a Georgia Tech gold-colored tie for $65. The one-day sale discounted the tie 40%, so I was able to get it for $39 (+8% sales tax). I thought this was reasonable after trying the tie on and given the tie's quality and the time constraints I was facing. A fellow with an Eastern European accent checked me out. He persistently tried to get me to sign up for a Macy's card. I declined.
The men's neckwear section was organized for the most part. However, some of the display furniture and stands were in poor condition. A couple examples include: (1) one of the wooden display table's legs was kicked in, about to give way -- it did not look safe, (2) a couple of the metal rotating necktie stands were broken -- they were lopsided and didn't even turn.
