My review is based off today's experience with one sales associate...
I am very frustrated, annoyed, and dissatisfied. I came into Macy's today to purchase bikinis for the beach this weekend. As usual, I tried on quite a few to find the perfect ones. My first try was not a success - I neatly put them back on hanger and left them in front as instructed. As I go back in search for more, an older lady working in the juniors department rudely told me that I have tried on enough clothes, that I should have found a bikini, and that I am not allowed to try on any more due to the time- 9:20pm. I asked why if the store clothes in 40 minutes? She said I was not allowed, to go ask permission at another department, I did, and their fitting room was closed and instructed me to go back to the fitting room I was originally at. As I walk into the original fitting room, I noticed the door was closed but not locked so I walked in with another customer. The lady raised her voice and told me I need to leave, and I asked, "So where do I try on clothes? In the middle of the store infront of customers?" So I proceeded to trying on a bathing suit because there's still 30 minutes left to closing. She even told the lady behind me NO and she only had one piece.
This is ridiculous, how are you going to tell a customer that they have tried on too much clothes, that you should have found something, and that you must leave when the store closes in 30-40 minutes. That's just plain lazy, unprofessional, and truly ruins Macy's image.
I'm sure if this happened to me and another customer, this must happen all the time. How many potential sales has she ruined? How much money has macys lost in the process? A simple solution is to allow customers to shop and try on clothes until closing time. Customer service should always be on point.
My recommendation is to inform and remind this sales associate all of the above. I'm sure she gets paid not only by hour but sales. By allowing customers to shop until closing time, it will not only increase her sales and her pocket, but also Macy's profits over all as well as their image.
