MAD Bar and Lounge

Great venue for drinks and light bites. This venue also offers jazz on certain days of the week. Jose the bartender is one of the main reasons I return. He is friendly, warm and always welcoming as are all of the staff. I visited this past week as the bar had a pop up event which was amazing. Always love returning to this place.

The staff is attentive, knowledgeable about the menu, and happy to recommend drinks based on your preferences. They manage to be both personable and professional, adding to the overall experience. Crowd: The crowd tends to skew slightly older, with a mix of professionals, couples on date nights, and groups of friends. It’s the perfect place to unwind after work or impress someone on a first date. Price: While not the cheapest place in town, the prices are fair for the quality of both the drinks and the experience. Cocktails range from $12–$18, with wine and spirits on the higher end of the spectrum. Given the setting and service, it feels worth it. Overall: If you’re looking for a stylish, sophisticated night out, The Velvet Room is a fantastic choice. The relaxed yet refined atmosphere, along with its expertly crafted drinks, make it a top contender for one of the best bar and lounges in the city. Came here specifically for the famed drinks and they were phenomenal. The lounge was fairly empty but the ambiance was perfect. Our cocktail service left something to be desired but the bartender of the evening (Phil) was friendly and terrific cocktail creator. Would love to return soon.

if i could give more stars i would. Jose, the bartender was a pleasure to meet. my mom and i stopped in for a drink after a night out in the city; we happened to eat before we arrived so we didnt try any food but the menu looks great and the cocktails were exceptional. the service was a phenomenal way to end the night. Jose was kind, friendly, and personable. not to mention he made excellent drinks that were well balanced and delicious. espresso martini and cosmo is a must try - best we have had in a while. thoroughly enjoyed our experience here and will 100 percent be back next time we are in the city!

They really are just a bar in the lobby of the Hotel NH Collection, and the website says they are going for a Mad Men/60s theme, but not sure they really got it right. I started with the Salted Peanut $20 cocktail which is screwball peanut whiskey and makers mark bourbon. It was really sweet and very small. Skip. Then opted for a martini which was much better. Staff was very nice. It was loud and hard to hear my friend over the background music coming from the overhead speakers. Also very brightly lit. They offer food you can order from Serafina which is also located in the hotel. If you need a bar and can't find anything else this will do.

The bar is in the hotel, which may lead some astray, but it is definitely worth it! Jose is absolutely amazing! He made me a lemon meringue pie martini (not listed on the menu) and it was delicious! He took lots of time to make me this drink and made special handcrafted cocktails for the rest of my group as well. Definitely worth a visit!

First time in Ghana and this is my new favorite restaurant! Best sushi I ever had in my life (Crunchy Salmon Roll). I will definitely be back next time! Music was great and service was amazing! Thank you Ralph! ❤️

A great bar located in a hotel lobby. When you come in, you get complimentary popcorn and/or chips, which is just nice snacking food as you sip your drinks. We sat next to the band, which was a bit loud, but the live music was great, and the overall decor and mood of the space was cohesive, almost jazzy. We also came in as a group of 10, and without a reservation, and we were able to get seated immediately. The beverages were tasty. Nothing was really standout, but they were satisfying drinks that hit the spot. For the convenience and consistency in quality, I'd recommend this spot as a great hangout area.

I am so glad we found this place. It's in the lobby of a pretty nice hotel in an otherwise pretty barren area of midtown. Service was great, the way they decorated the inside of the bar/hotel lobby was very appealing and we enjoyed our drinks. They even brought out popcorn! That was a nice touch.
