At a wrestling tournament in nearby Lancaster and this place popped up with great reviews so gave it a try. I was happy I did. The sticky ribs Mac and cheese, pretzel , chicken sandwich were amazing but elite was the sweet potatoes fries with cinnamon dipping sauce. Sweet and savory unmatched. There were a few fails such as the potato skin ball wrap thing and the empanada. The service was amazing with every worker there we interacted with and I love the outside window ordering system (you order at window they bring and serve to your table after order is in). This is a must go.

Google
Absolutely delicious and creative food. The beers that I have had are very good but always on the hoppy side…not a huge fan of hops but if your read the beer list thoroughly you will be able to find a tasty beer with minimal hop taste. The procedure here is to be seated by a hostess, make a note of your table number, proceed to a register and place your order. The cashier will grab your beers for you to carry back to your table and your food will be delivered to your table by the staff runners. The environment inside is industrial since you are in the brewery and outside seating includes an area with a pergola and a full sun area where tables have umbrellas. Everything that we have ever had here is very good! Although this is a pricey lunch or dinner the quality, taste and plate presentation is on par…not fancy, just casual and good.

Google
This is a great restaurant with equally great food! This is our 3rd time coming here and we always leave raving about how good the food is. You order your food from the counter and the staff will bring the food out to you. For being a busy Saturday, the food came out quite quickly. We were a party of 8, and we were pleasantly surprised. Always a top choice to eat when we are in the Lancaster area.

Google
Tried Mad Chef at the recommendation of a friend. The first time I went with my daughter. She love the pizza and my fish tacos were absolutely delicious! The second time, we took my father. Lots of fish tacos. My son had the vegetarian hot chicken sandwich and my wife throughly enjoyed her vegetarian chicken sandwich. The churro dessert was phenomenal!

Google
Would go back! The place is good! Beer is above average, food is above average! I wish the setting had a bit more family friendly seating and that they had Coke products, but otherwise no major complaints. Today I had the corn and crab fritters, and expected that they'd have very little crab but actually the opposite. The dip was good that came with it, sort of like a thousand Island tartar sauce. Also had grilled cheese off the kids menu and fries and both hit the spot. IG: lanco.food.dude

Google
I have to give this place 5 stars ! It was a busy Saturday with a bit of a wait and we were lucky to grab 2 seats at the bar. The service was fantastic. The food so fresh and absolutely delicious. From our seats we could watch all the kitchen action happening. This place has it together let me tell you. Everything that came out of that kitchen was hot and fresh. The Kitchen staff was amazing. They really have it together. Hands down this place is worth coming to

Google
We ate here with family... a new place for us... The food was excellent... as was the atmosphere too... Would definitely eat here again...

Google
WOW! We were blown by the quality of food and brews alike! It was recommended by a friend as " a brewery with the best food" and it was just that! Dunkel is a must try!! Service could have been better if we had servers to come to the table, or actual menus to look at at the table, or just order straight through the QR code? Yet everyone was very helpful and delivered service with a friendly gesture and beautiful smile. Food was outstanding. Drinks were lovely. No wonder it was packed with a 30-min wait. Update: appetizers always come at the same time as main course. Maybe I’m ordering wrong? But a little unhappy about that on every visit! Pro tip: start your tap at the order station and get something to get started with while waiting for a table if there is a wait!

Yelp
Enjoyed coming to this spot for lunch today. Really big inside and lots of tables. Not too loud and quick service. We came at 11:45am on a Saturday and it wasn't too busy. Food was delicious with good sized portions! Really love the French fries but definitely should've went for a small not a large for just two people. The large was a big bucket. Oh well, more to take home!

Yelp
Great beer selection and good food. The pizzas were fantastic, and a very good selection of other items we're looking forward to going back to try. Huge portions on the sandwich's too. Only thing we didn't love is that there isn't table service. You have to go to the register to order, then food is brought to you. Not a big deal but a little awkward getting that settled with our family at the table.

Yelp
We went to Mad Chef for the first time last fall. I don't remember what we ordered but it was rather good and we enjoyed the place, so we planned to go again. And we did go again this summer and we wondered...what happened? First of all, this is one of those strange sit down restaurants where they have you place your order at a counter. It's not fast food but your ordering is treated like it is. These types of places are all over Southeastern PA and I'm not sure that people are fans of this system but they are thrust upon us by lazy restaurateurs. And it doesn't stop them from asking if you want to leave a tip. The menu is strange and the mad chef seems to want to put things together that don't work. My turkey sandwich came with crushed tomatoes! It was weird! The service is...well, it's today's service where a bunch of kids go through the paces of giving you your food without engaging or smiling, and since you ordered it at the counter, they never know who ordered what. The place is not so bad to sit in but when the crowds are thin, you see the sparse effort made at making it feel warmer. We'll give it another try in a few months but what started as a rock star for us declined to being just a rock.

Yelp
Mad About You Locally-owned and operated brewery/gastropub located in East Petersburg, PA and has been in operation for ten years (ca. 2015). They have several off-site taprooms as well, but this is their main hub of operations. The Good: *Friendly service *Large shared parking lot *Outdoor dog-friendly patio *Live music on the aforementioned patio (not sure about when and where but happened to see a guy warming up out there as we were leaving) *Fast-casual order at the counter and either finalize your bill or leave a tab open. *Happy Hour M-F 4 p.m. - 6 p.m. *Over a dozen (14 at the time of our visit) of their beers on-on-tap, including a cider for the gluten-free folks. *They have a beer type for everyone, but holy shit their Juice Caboose Hazy IPA was absolutely fantastic! Maybe in the top-3 best ever--and we drink a LOT of Hazys. *Family-friendly despite all the beer going around. *While the beers are the draw, their food menu is nothing to sneeze at either. While the menu is nothing fancy, fairly typical brewpub fare, it is all mostly housemade top-tier chow. Their fries are superlative. The perfect crisp to fluffyness in the middle to cross exterior, and the little bit of tater skins really sells it. *Their house-braised corned beef in their Reuben was fantastic. The perfect ratio of meat:bread:toppings for one of the best sandwiches I've had in maybe forever! It was that good. The Meh: *While the interior is large, this place is super popular and gets pretty packed and very noisy. The Ugly: *They're in Pennsylvania and not near my house :'(((( Conclusion: If you love beer and you love food, then why are we still having this discussion? This. Is. The. One. 10/10

Yelp
I have been wanting to visit this place for years so I was glad that we got the chance to check it out. This place was super busy when we arrived! The inside space was way too loud and crazy for us and we should have moved to the outside space but they also had live music out there so not sure it would have helped. I don't drink alcohol much anymore due to health reasons but I decided to get a beer. Usually if I do that, I will only drink a bit and then John finishes it. But I ordered the Juice Caboose (it's a hazy and that's all I like these days) and it was THE best hazy I've had in a long time. So, yeah--I didn't share much. LOL I ordered the Mediterranean plate and it was pretty good. Something different. John and I were so jealous of all of these great breweries in PA. We don't have breweries like this in San Jose. :( If we had the money, we would open one.

Yelp
Came here with family and decided to order a few apps. We ordered the Thai Chili Brussels sprouts, Large Pomme Frittes, Mexican Street Dip & the Loaded Baked Croquettes. The Large Pomme Frittes are huge and come with three dips. All of the appetizers were good but our favorites were the fries and the Brussels sprouts! The servings are all a descent size and flavors amazing. For dinner I had the Caesar Salad with chicken. The presentation was good, but would have been easier to eat it if it was chopped. The place was crowded but the food came out quickly. Our dishes and empty glasses were removed and the staff were friendly. It would be nice if you could order food from the QR code instead of waiting in line to place your order. We have been to other breweries where this is offered and it is very convenient. We had a couple beers and they were good and a glass of Cabernet that was alright. There is high top seating and also an outdoor patio area. Great place to hang out and enjoy some delicious food and drinks!

Yelp
The food was good here. I had the Rachel and both the boys ordered the Street Corn Chicken Sandwhich. We also ordered the pretzel and cheesesteak empanadas both were very good. We were sat in area where you had to Order yourself and then they brought your food out i feel they should give you an option as they don't check on you when you sit at these tables but the food was very good

Yelp
A return visit for a soccer tournament and OMG I found numerous beers I loved. The food has always been good but having the beer just as good has made it a visit we will not pass up when we are in the area.

Yelp
I have been to this place many times now and every time I'm amazed at the selection of beers and the food is always well prepared and tasty

Yelp
We stopped for lunch on a Saturday and enjoyed it. Only reason I'm giving 3 stars is because of how loud it was and I didn't love the fish tacos, there wasn't a lot of fish in them and I ended up having mostly tortilla left. I also didn't love that they don't have servers and you have to stand in a long line to order or get more drinks. Other people in our party enjoyed their food and the beer was very good. I would try it again in the future and try something else, and maybe not on a weekend for lunch

Yelp
I'm just posting a second review on this amazing place. Our nephew will only go here with us when he comes to town. The beer selection is always wonderful and it rotates quite a bit. The food is delicious and things like the Reuben, Cuban, and the hot chicken sandwich are gold legacy good items. Just try it, you'll like it!
google avatar

Dave C.

Yelp
Beers were amazing. They also have wine and cocktails. Started with the fries. Very excellent with sauces on the side. I got the Cuban sandwich which was one of the best I've had. French dip was really good and korean check was too.

Enid M.

Yelp
I searched up if this place had burgers and google said yes but when I got here there were no burgers on the menu. It also smelled weird

Sydney K.

Yelp
Nice place- good food, good specials, good drinks. Can't complain! You order everything at the bar and they deliver it.

Yelp
When I say we rolled out of here - it's no joke but everything was delicious. It's a very laid back environment where you order at the bar and they run the food out to you. Everyone was friendly and it had a fun St Patrick's day vibe - we enjoyed the specialty dishes they made for the holiday. My favorite was the creme brûlée by far BUT the pork wings were spicy and crispy and the chicken sandwich had an amazing crunch without falling apart.

Katie N.

Yelp
The food is delicious, but on the weekends Mad Chef turns into Chuck E' Cheese. Even outside, I could barely hear myself think, let alone enjoy a conversation above the sound of yelling kids and chairs constantly scraping against the concrete. I'm a parent and I would never think to take a kid's sports team here after a game...Yikes. Anyway, it's still a great place to eat (especially during the week), the staff is nice, and their drafts are delicious. My advice - avoid if you enjoy your sanity on the weekend, and partake on a cool week day evening instead.

Yelp
Really like the food at the is place. It is always busy so plan to get there early or willing to wait. It definitely has a brewery vibe. Very friendly staff
google avatar

Yelp
Great beer, no waiting, goes the extra mile. Fresh ingredients and takes the time to do it right. Good service. Will be back.
google avatar

Dennis B.

Yelp
Wonderful food and great beer. This is my wife's and my "go to" place. It never disappoints.
google avatar

Yelp
What can I say....every year this place gets better and better. The food selections are great..The addition of the pizza and the varieties have really been a nice touch. The different beers and the addition of a seltzer always keep us coming back. Chef runs a great operation...Don't change anything! Maybe bring back the HH wings! I miss the maple bourbon dry rub wings!
google avatar

Dee J.

Yelp
Great spot. Good vibes. Food was very good. Large selection of food. Good variety of craft beer. Everything we ordered was delicious. Food came out fast even though they were slammed. Service was friendly -- but you have to order at the bar.

Vickie M.

Yelp
Lots of fun on Trivia Night, but gotta get there early. Great food, enjoy sitting at the bar!!

Yelp
I went here on a Wednesday right before July 4th. Place was packed at 7pm!! I decided against my desire to get the Philly pork sando. The sandwich was great! Good flavors in the pork, great roll, and cheese and the broccoli rabe blended well. However, my friends got the chicken thigh sandwich and I regret not getting it because it was freaking huge, looked delicious, and was reasonably priced. Will be back.

Yelp
We came to Mad Chef as a team lunch between soccer games for a tournament in which we were playing. The place is really spacious, with a contemporary brewery feel. You order at a counter with your table number. Drinks are given at the counter, food is delivered to your table by a server. I tried the Juice Caboose as my draft. It was very flavorful and as a lighter beer drinker, I enjoyed it tremendously. My wife and kids had soft drinks (bottled). Now to the food. My kids ordered a quesadilla and chicken fingers. My wife had the Reuben which she really enjoyed. Now, I got the Crab Rangoon Chicken Sandwich. This was in my top five sandwiches that I have had out! No exaggeration here. It was awesome. Spicy sauce on the bottom, Crab Rangoon on the top with a really delicious piece of fried chicken in the middle. I only have two drawbacks which I am not using to change my over review, hence the five stars. I got chips with my sandwich. I assumed they were fresh made, they are lays or a similar brand. Order fries, plus you can add one of 20 dipping sauces. The other it took a while to get the food. We were slightly rushed to get to the next game, so plan out more time to spend. Quality over a rushed experience. I would highly recommend it.

Stephen B.

Yelp
Found this place on the way home from out of town and so glad we did! Was planning a quick beer and food but ended up staying for over two half hours! Great environment and everyone was super friendly! The food and beer was great! Will come back again when visiting!
google avatar

Kyle S.

Yelp
Still rating it a 4 star but I feel like some of the food has slipped in quality more recently. Staff is still friendly and beers are still tasty. Some changes I have seen: the Caesar salad doesn't appeared grilled anymore or they just throw it on there and take it off to soon. Plus they have gotten skimpy with the toppings. The fries have been over cooked more frequently.
google avatar

Yelp
A pit-stop visit, during a road trip from MD-post-gamming the nearby Renfest-chosen over other breweries nearby because of their expansive tap list offering ample IPAs. Located within a shopping center strip, they had ample easy parking- upon entering the initial vibe was very modern brewery, but their seating/ordering system could use an update-they required please wait to be seated into a specific section & scan the QR code for the table menu-but they were an 'order at the bar' system-no table service, which created a bit of a line as all things needed to be managed through the bar (drinks, food, water, water refills, condiments, utensils, etc). Despite the line, staff were friendly, welcoming, and quick on the service! Bartenders allowed a few samples before final decisions-even when selecting a flight variety-which was helpful as they have so many great sounding choices-at average brewery prices ($8 flight & $8 pint). Selected a range of IPAs (F-18 (malty piney bitterness hop 5star), Juice Caboose (creamy intake guave backend bitter balance 5star), Hazy MangOH (more like juicy seltzer 1star), Star Cluster (hazy cloud of tropical fruit 5star), County Wide (too light- has potential 2star), Johnnie Darko (average malty 2star), Seven Bean (creamsicle, hoppy tangerine 5star) Would definitely visit again for a high-quality beer; a nice local gem of a find.
google avatar

Mark B.

Yelp
The staff did not mention that you have to go to the counter after being seated to place your order. Also, the mixed drinks are very limited and take forever to come out.
google avatar

Kendra S.

Yelp
Our table of six had a bucket of fries which was huge. I shared a crispy chicken sandwich that was good. My daughter had the mandarin orange sesame salad which had shrimp, but we didn't think the shrimp were fully cooked so we only give that a 4. The pepperoni pizza was solid and the chicken carbonara (which was a special) was stellar. The fish tacos were good too. We had to wait 30 minutes to get a table but that's ok because it was a Friday night before Christmas. We loved the decor at the entry with the cute wreaths hanging from a piece of wood.
google avatar

Sara L.

Yelp
The setup is a bit different than most - you order at the bar. Scan the code for the menu and then order at the bar, giving them your table number. They have paper menus available as well if you aren't confident with the technology. The food was rather quick, but mediocre. The salsa reminded me of tomato sauce with a little body to it. The guacamole was good. We both ordered sandwiches which came with chips and pickles. The pickles were a nice touch, but the chips were standard. The Rachael had a good bit of turkey with very little slaw or dressing. The bread was toasted, but hard to eat and a little greasy. The chicken cutlet sandwich was huge and had a little kick to it - that was probably the better of the two. Overall it was okay. Hard to really comment on the service since that only included someone taking us to our seat and brining our food. Otherwise, we never saw anyone other than the person at the bar who took our order. You can pay when you order or start a tab. It seemed to be a pretty popular place on a Friday night - I assume that's driven by the alcohol and not necessarily the food.

Dom R.

Yelp
The food was barely edible. Ordered the French dip and the unchefable chicken sandwich which shouldn't even be allowed on the menu. The French dip was flavorless and a pathetic display of roast beef. The chicken sandwich had no seasoning and the peach jalapeño "jam" was just canned peaches. Would NOT recommend!!!

Jennifer S.

Yelp
OMG best beer nachos and pierogies around!! We are visiting from North Carolina and are so glad that we found this restaurant!!!
google avatar

Nick C.

Yelp
Have been to Mad Chef numerous times and never disappointed. Rotating beers and rotating delicious food specials can never be beat. The added outdoor patio and now the huge interior adds a ton of space and cuts down on wait times. Order at the registers and tell them your table number.

Yelp
We've visited Mad Chef several times since our first visit and received the same quality service, food, and brews each time. What is the key to the high quality products and environment? It is the people in charge behind the scenes setting the level of pride and enthusiasm for their establishment. This level of pride and focus on customer service became crystal clear after running into the Mad Chef himself and family during a camping trip out of the state recently. I happen to recognize the Mad Chef logo and commented that I was a fan also to the one gentleman, who happened to be The Mad Chef! The interaction was so positive, welcoming, and conveyed such a sense of gratefulness that I was blown away. We chatted briefly and then he introduced me to his whole clan, like I was an old friend, and shared one of their newer beers (delicious and crushable)! This positive welcoming attitude is what sets the Mad Chef brewery/restaurant apart from the competition and created a lifelong loyal customer!
google avatar

Jenna D.

Yelp
Ordered pick up. Great French dip and chicken sandwich! Will definitely be back when in the area. Didn't realize place was so big. I parked at the wrong end and had to walk down to other side. Looks like a cool hang out.

Sopia K.

Yelp
Pros amazing beer, mouth watering grilled salad and delicious dip Cons weird hard fried pirogi croutons on a salad and the whole idea of ordering your food and then after the waiter brings food u never see him again and you still have to tip. Overall a good experience and we might be back if ever in the area again.

Yelp
Love coming to Mad Chef, and I have to say my past three visits, the experience has been much more consistent than in the past (and that's not something I have written often since COVID, so kudos to them for whatever service mojo they have happening right now). HOW TO ORDER -- Take your pick from the menu, then GO TO THE BAR to order beer or food. The staff is good at explaining when you come in, it's in big text at the top of the menu, and written on every surface where you find food/beer options, but people don't always pay attention. Then they complain later that no one came to take their order. Don't be that guy. THE BEER -- My Untappd history shows a pretty consistent 3.50 rating for most of my go-tos (IPAs, sours, and stouts). For IPA fans, OH Face is a go-to, as is Juice Caboose - that one's more on the fruity side. Get some Gnarley Nelson if you can find it. Also recently tried and loved Tropical Vibes. The Dark n Dank black IPA is worth a try, too, if you've never had that style before, and Peach in Out is my current favorite fruited sour. THE FOOD -- We tend to order a lot of starters to share. The Thai chili Brussels sprouts, cheesesteak empanadas, and braided pretzel are our usual favorites. Add a bucket (HUGE portion) or your choice of fries and dipping sauce and you'll have more than enough food for three people. Want your own meal? The porchetta or cubano sandwiches are *chef's kiss*. Want something healthier? Strawberry fields salad -- the lemon poppy vinaigrette and pumpkin seeds are a nice touch. THE ATMOSPHERE -- they expanded their indoor space, so there are a lot of tables to choose from, or sit at the bar (limited space there). Outdoors, they have a nice patio set up, mostly uncovered from the elements, but you have to go through the inside bar to get to the patio. No dogs, unfortunately, but they do have another little order kiosk on the patio with a smaller selection of beers, but at least you don't always have to go back inside to place your next order. The line inside can get pretty long, so having this option is nice.

Seth B.

Yelp
In the area for an event so decided to stop here for dinner. They told us 40 min wait. There were open tables but I assume the kitchen was backed up so we waited. You order at the bar. Which isn't a bar bar. Weird but fine. Ordered beers and water and food there. You have to walk them to your table yourself. The food does get brought to tihe table at least. Croquettes were good. Chicken sandwich was great. Ordered sweet potato fries and it came with some ridiculously good dipping sauce. Good thing about counter service is once we are done we get up and leave. Overall good food and I'd recommend if you live in the area
google avatar

Yelp
We've been hearing really good things about this place so we decided to give it a whirl tonight. There's plenty of parking and the place was bigger than expected. I love the open kitchen concept as it just adds a vibe to your experience. There's no table service, but there were two registers to order from. We started with the nachos, pretzel and tuna tostadas. I thought everything came out hot and had plenty of flavor. I did find that past the first layer of chips there were essentially no toppings, which was rather disappointing. The kids portions weren't too bad. We then ordered the portobello steak sandwich which was excellent! It comes with a healthy side of fries if you upgrade. I enjoyed the boom boom sauce and truffle ketchup. The food came out in record speed. I would highly suggest a water station as it's inconvenient to stand in a line just to grab a water refill. I also think there should be a station where you can find extra napkins, salt and pepper. There could be one but I didn't see it. I also found the stack of plates rather annoying as there was no one to pre bus or even a place to return the dishes. I thought the prices were fair and the portions decent. It's a really cool atmosphere with TVs spread throughout. We will definitely be coming back to try out some more food. Also, the beer was excellent! I would much rather drink beer here than say Troegs.

Yelp
Great food- awesome service! Friendly,up lifting, fun atmosphere. A lil pricey, but well worth the quality.

Yelp
Remember trying a sour gummy for the very first time and immediately, your mouth puckers and your eyes go wide - well, that's what I compare this experience to, of their Green Colorado Chili. It's like a WOW moment in your mouth. Is that good? It's good if you love lime and cilantro; the two flavors dominating this soupy, chili. The hubby's order of maple dry rub spiced chicken wings, were seemingly cooked and then, immediately drench dipped into the spice and then, served. Spice was like grit, that refused to coat the chicken; it glittered onto the plate, table, my husband's lap; we ended up chucking it.

Vicky T.

Yelp
Large scale brew pub atmosphere with great beer, drink & menu choices. Friendly efficient service - order everything at the counter but it's brought to you - we enjoyed our lunch - would definitely recommend & return if in the area again!

Yelp
I'm not sure how I feel about this place. When my daughter and I were waiting for our table; I noticed people had sheets that looked like something for trivia. So I asked the hostess if they had trivia and the tone she took with her response was rude. Like ok, I get you have it every week. But I'm not from the area so how the heck was I supposed to know. The food was good. Large portions. I didn't realize it wasn't a sit down restaurant. Eh. I didn't mind going up to order and pay. But I did mind having to get up to get more water. It's a nice looking restaurant. Not really sure if I'd come back next time I visit Lancaster.

Yelp
This place is huge and was really busy. The layout is really kind of weird. It's a very, very long building. Depending on where you park will determine how long you'll have to walk once you get inside. Kind of odd, you get seated and then you have to go up and place your order at a central counter and then they bring you the food?? The alcoholic beverages are pricey, like everywhere else, and they are okay. The french fries are supposed to be the main attraction here. They were okay, they were just french fries, regardless of what they called them lol. The sauces/dips they serve with them was fantastic. But you only get one and have to pay for extra. And you really need 3 for a normal size fry. It was ok, a different place, but ok.

Yelp
I ordered empanadas which I did not finish because the spicing was so hot. . My husband ordered tuna tostados; he was told the tuna was cooked but it was raw. We decided to order more so we got a burger. The rosemary garlic fries were good. My husband thought the beer was good but that it was a small glass of beer. I liked the setup of the restaurant and liked sitting outdoors on their patio. Overall though we went out of our way to go there because of the yelp reviews I cannot give it more than an average review.

Yelp
Beers and food were great. Order from a person at a kiosk and they deliver the food to your table. Fries and sandwiches were fast, fresh, and hot. Bathrooms are super clean and staff is friendly. Pretty roomy inside- would definitely return.
