2017’s Restaurant Closures | Eater DC

"Hospitality pros Neville Nugent and Ed Reynoso are opening Mad Cow Grill in Laurel, Maryland at 310 Domer Avenue this fall; both chefs — alums of the Willard Intercontinental and Ray's the Steaks — plan to focus the new neighborhood eatery on burgers, steaks, and other meat-focused fare." - Eater Staff

The food and drinks here are always amazing 10/10! The prices are fair. The service is always subpar — our server was 1 of 2 working during my last visit, and there was no crowd (3 tables inside, 2 tables outside, and about 8 ppl at the bar).

This was my first visit and I am quite disappointed. No jerk wings during brunch , so I ordered a Jerk Chicken burger. The chicken patty had minimal taste, certainly not anything I would call jerk chicken. I was expecting a chicken breast, but it appears to be ground chicken. See the picture. Please note that the menu does not specify what piece of chicken it will be—simply my expectation. The French fries were good. My friend ordered Island Ackee with Codfish “BOLIED”, per the receipt and perhaps that was the problem. The codfish and ackee were delicious, but less than 1/4 of the plate. The “boiled” potato was just that, a tasteless, cold, boiled potato. There was a tasteless cold, brown/gray banana that a Jamaican friend said was a boiled green banana. Yes, we are not Jamaican, but we have both been to the Caribbean and NEVER had such tasteless food masquerading as Jamaican. We even spoke to the manager who offered no apologies or explanations. He simply had a “whatever” attitude. I found this quite disappointing because I have owned a food establishment for 17 years and I respond to EVERY Google review we get—good or bad. Look at Mad Cow’s and most DO NOT have a response. To me, responding shows you care about your customers and your business and they obviously don’t. I did bring my burger home so I can season it and hopefully enjoy it with the fries. I have since discovered the problem. I was going based on my research a few years ago when they were advertising as more of a Jamaican-influenced restaurant, but if you look at the picture below, they’re now calling it “Good AMERICAN fare”. I am definitely not going back. I understand why the cow is mad!

I live in Southern Maryland but had some business to take care of so I decided to stop at Mad Cow before heading back home. When I walked in, I wasn’t greeted. Finally I asked If I could place a to-go order. There were 2 girls at the counter. The youngest of the two was kind and helpful. The other girl sat on a stool and scrolled on her phone. Almost everything I wanted to order they either out of it or only have it on certain days. They don’t have oxtails, out of wings and only serve beef patties on Fridays. I even asked about their cake and the host told me it cost $10 for one slice of cake, RIDICULOUS!! I end of ordering Rasta Pasta and paid an up charge for Jerk Chicken. It took about 15 min. which was reasonable. But something told me let me check my food before I leave. Good thing I did because there was NO jerk chicken in my to-go box, even though they charged me extra for it. The youngest girl was kind and returned my food to the kitchen which took an additional 15min. The 2nd girl remained at the counter on her phone, even proceeded to make a phone call using profanity and inappropriate conversation. The younger girl returned with my food and was apologetic. I finally made it home and began to eat my food. If I say it was disgusting, it would be an UNDERSTATEMENT!! The pasta was bland, it taste like the cook just threw some cayenne pepper on it. The chicken was broiled NOT jerked at all, not even sautéed. The Rasta Pasta even had shredded cold carrots in it which was weird and out of place. It definitely DIDN’T taste like authentic Jamaican food!! If I knew my experience was going to be this bad, I would have saved my money and went across the street to Negril. A complete was of $21. I will never visit or spend another dime in the establishment.!!

I stopped here with a colleague from work for dinner. It was pretty good. We split the special of the day (curried Goat) and some jerked chicken along with some Siracha hot wings. The food was pretty good. Service was a little slow but overall I liked it and would not hesitate to go back.

Had a great experience at Mad Cow — the food, drinks, and music were all on point! 🎶🍹🍽️ Big shout out to Chris for the amazing service — you were awesome! Only concern was noticing a $13 delivery charge on the receipt while dining in, which I’ve never seen before. Still tipped, but that definitely caught me by surprise.

My son and wife enjoyed food they had. However, I ordered a burger medium. It came out well done. MOD was very apologetic and helpful. He had the kitchen remake my burger however it came out well done also. Service itself was on the slow side. No wait to be seated. But, server took about 10-15 minutes to come to our table.

Google
I enjoyed the host and our server. Unfortunately the food was mediocre in my opinion. I got wings and they were dry with no sauce and looked like they sat under the salamander too long. We ordered a plain burger but it didn’t look that fresh. The ox tail was decent, I just wish there was more protein instead of rice. Overall, I probably wouldn’t return, plus the location is in such an awkward part of the strip mall they don’t have designated parking or a parking lot. (If they did, I may have missed it).

Came here Saturday night before we went to the haunted house and glad we did. It was bar service only but the bartender told me to “go sit down” and took care of my husband and I. From the cow decor and Jamaican flag, and the old scary movie on, this place is a vibe of its own. Looking forward to making our way out there again to try the food. Thanks for making non-locals feel like fam.

Yelp
I decided to give Mad Cow another try. I first visited when they opened and ordered the jerk tacos (not sure if that's even on the menu anymore). Back then, I thought it was just okay. Today, I gave them another shot because Uber Eats was offering a buy one, get one free deal on the jerk chicken meal. I chose rice & peas with plantain for my sides. The chicken was cooked on the grill--which I love--because it really brings out the flavor in jerk chicken. I also requested my jerk sauce on the side since I prefer a dry rub style over a saucy one. The only drawback was the small bone pieces in the chicken and rice. That's something to be cautious about, especially if a child is eating the meal. The plantains were also inconsistent--some pieces were hard, while others were mushy. On the bright side, the coco bread was perfect and the Jamaican rum cake was phenomenal. Whoever baked that cake clearly took their time soaking it in rum. It reminded me of the way my grandmother used to make it--absolutely delicious. I would definitely order the rum cake again.

Yelp
Went here on a Saturday night about a month ago -- place was not crowded/too busy. Ambiance: very bright lights and very loud music; hard to hear people talking to you at your own table. Service: waitress was kind, but service was extremely slow. 2 beers took about 15 minutes to make it to our table; I ordered a mixed drink and was given the incorrect mixed drink, which I went to the bar and traded out for a beer instead because our server didn't come back to our table to check on us for a significant length of time. We ordered several menu items they were out of and we weren't told that they were out until about an hour and a half into waiting for our food. We ended up with three side salads, 1 app, and 1 meal for a group of people. We asked our server for the check, which she failed to bring after 15 minutes. Hungry and desperate to leave, a member of our group went up to the bar, had the bar tender remove the food we were never given, and paid. Overall: Horrible experience w/ sub-par food and even worse service. Spend your money elsewhere.

Yelp
The is my first review of November so I'm behind but will be catching up soon...lol But back to Mad Cow I came on yesterday (11/9/25) around 1pm to meet up with some friends for Brunch. Usually with brunch we would do the bottomless mimosas and all but because I was driving I decided not to participate in that. And usually I would get chicken and waffles but I was in the mood for a burger. So I thought because their name is "Mad Cow" the burger would be the bomb...but nope it was not good at all. So I prefer a beef burger cooked medium with blue cheese, mayo, lettuce, tomato, and onions. When I burger got tot the table it was dry as a board. No blue cheese that I paid extra for and the burger was not cooked correctly it was cooked well done. Smdh. So the waiter brought me my blue cheese apologized about it and also gave me a mayo bottle. Even with the burger still was not good and the patty was so thick with no flavor not even salt and pepper was in it!! I tried their punch drink which was really good but for $15 a pop in a regular water glass was ridiculous. Make sure you don't get too tipsy as they already have like a 20% gratuity added on each of our checks no matter how small or big your group is which again is ridiculous! Will I come back...maybe only because I would like to try some Jamaican food they offer. But for brunch...it's a no for me!

Yelp
It's been a long time since I visited Mad Cow. I'm talking years. I love Caribbean food and if you come in the winter You can experience their hot chocolate drink. AMAZING.... I met one of my co-workers. We arrived around 2pm on a Friday. It wasn't to crowded and our server came right over. She was very friendly and very informative. We both wanted fish. So when she said jerk salmon. I was sold. Salmon has always been one of my favorites. The salmon did not disappoint. The restaurant was clean. They also offer outdoor dining. It looked rather cozy outside but I haven't experienced the outdoor dining yet. I have experienced good food with good service. Don't forget to try out one of their yummy desserts. I had the carrot cake it was delicious as expected. Definitely will be returning.

Yelp
I came across many videos and reviews saying Mad Cow Grill is amazing. They all LIED! This place is horrible! The service is incredible and that's it. Let's be for real, none of us visits a restaurant for the service, we want good food. Oxtail egg rolls were cotton mouth dry. Lacked any and all flavor. The bbq jerk chicken wings tasted like straight bbq sauce. The chicken itself wasn't bad. Rasta pasta was an epic fail. Do not order this! Also to note, in my first pasta dish there was an eggshell in it so they had to make me another one. They ran out of shrimp, French fries, and curry chicken egg rolls. To note, a lot of menu items are ONLY available on Friday that they do not have noted in the menu. My baby sized hand burger was juicy but the size of it was insulting. They didn't have any fries, no one told me and they automatically gave m sweet potato fries. I DO NOT eat sweet potatoes at all so I would have appreciated if they gave me a heads up. To piss me off further, my Pepsi was flat like a piece of paper. Wtf dude! I try to give this place grace and mercy but it's horrible. I will not be back at all! There's a McDonald's within walking distance. I highly recommend you go there instead. As always #EatGoodAndBeHappy

Yelp
Food - 4.5 stars Service - 2 stars Ambience - 3 stars Been here a couple times and my overall takeaway is: Great Jamaican food with nice, sweet and strong drinks. They claim to have Impossible Burgers but are pretty much always out (either they never stock it or it's that popular that they run out). The service staff are friendly, but most are a little aloof. If they ask you about something, even if it's just an "okay, I'll be back in a minute to get that order or bring you those drinks" it will not be a minute; it will be closer to 10 (even if there's no big crowd) . And look, if you're down for island time and not in a hurry, no problem! When we're trying to feed 3 kids and get them out in a reasonable amount of time, this can get a bit frustrating. Our waitress, sweet though she was, said she would get us some ketchup and 5 minutes later, we had to flag down one of her coworkers (at least he brought it immediately). The food is still SO good though! Since our one visit (see my previous review), we've also tried the vegetarian curry and the curried chicken thighs. Very good both, though I didn't see any beans as their print menu advertised for the veggie platter. But the plantains are on point and seasonings are fantastic. I didn't realize spinach could taste so good, but this is amazing with a nice bit of spice and coconut milk. Outside of Happy Hour, I wouldn't say anything is cheap, but the prices are fair and the food is filling. If you've got the time for a slow, relaxed meal, this place will have great food options for you.

Yelp
Visited for the first time this past weekend with my family and had a great experience. I took away 1 star for the service. While it wasn't horrible, it could've been better. It took our waitress a long time to bring us refills & to go boxes. There wasn't a lot of people in the restaurant but the bar/outdoor seating area seemed a bit busy so maybe that was the hold up. Our food was absolutely delicious and we were really blown away! I know the reviews are mixed but our food came out piping hot, fresh, and delicious! We enjoyed everything!! I would definitely return. There were other items on the menu that I'd love to try!

Yelp
I give this place a 10 out of 10. I went here for brunch and the brunch menu was really good. They have unlimited mimosa specials, which I did not get. I got the sorrel martini with gin instead and it was delicious. Although there are lots of options on the brunch menu, my server informed me that I could order from the regular menu provided the dish was available. But I ordered the oxtail and grits from the brunch menu. The oxtail cones shredded and mixed in the grits so I got a side of oxtails because I really wanted oxtail. It did not disappoint. Who knew grits with oxtail would ve so good?!?! Obviously thus restaurant did. My server was very attentive. There were several larger parties but my server checked on us several tines and made sure we was doing ok despite being very busy. She was very informative in explaining the food and drinks offered on the menu. This place is really cute with lots of artwork on the walls. And nice outdoor seating area which might be nice during the warmer months. There is a nice sized bar area and the dining area is spacious. The barnyard decor throughout the restaurant added a nice thematic touch. Down to the tin basins for bathroom sinks.

Yelp
I have been wanting to try out The Mad Cow for a while and since I was heading down to Laurel for another reason decided to come here for Brunch. They did not disappoint. It's located in a busy shopping center right on Rt. 1. Parking lot was rather busy. Inside the restaurant wasn't that busy so we didn't have any wait. The nice waitress got us seated and took our drink orders. Since I had some errands to run I could not take advantage of the bottomless mimosas. For my meal I got the lamb chop lollipops. They came with a side of potatoes. Food was absolutely delicious. I had a pineapple ginger rum drink that was good as well. The service was top notch. I wish I remembered the waitresses name because she was excellent. She was sure to check on us frequently. She went above and beyond to explain the menu to us so we knew before we got the food how it would look. They had some music playing inside. Appeared to be the bar tenders playlist from the way she was vibing to it. They had a DJ booth area so looks like they may have a DJ there sometimes. The do accept the CLIPP vouchers but you must have them printed out for redemption. They won't scan them from the app or your apple wallet.

Yelp
Prices: Reasonable & Comparable to other restaurants of that standard Overall Food Review: 10/10 Ambiance: 5/10, a bit dirty, but we were in the tent that looked like a poor pop-up. Plus, they allowed Pets (it wasn't a service animal) but a pet dog in the restaurant. Just NASTY! Service: Standard. 6/10. I prefer BLCK COW over MAD COW GRILL. I know they are owned by the same person.

Yelp
Food was ok, but the service was altogether unsatisfactory. Had to ask the server 4 times to take my order, check on us (because we needed more water), bring the check, then bring a box. She was pleasant but not present. Not interested in going back.
google avatar

Jill S.

Yelp
Their food is really good with a delicious blend of Caribbean and American cuisine. I love their jerk wings and the creative burgers, such as the "Breaking Bad" which has avocado and seasoned shrimp on top. The service can be just a bit slow, but the people working there are friendly. My only other issue is that sometimes they are out of multiple menu items at a time, which makes ordering difficult, but everything we have tried was good. For those who can handle heat, the scotch bonnet sauce is amazing. On weekends, they have a party brunch with good (loud) music, and it can get pretty crowded in the bar area.
google avatar

Mar B.

Yelp
The food was good, but not good enough to make up for how we were treated. Service was lacking from the moment we were seated. We had to ask multiple times for basic things like napkins, and when we asked for utensils, they were dropped off like it was an outrageous request. Our server was inattentive and unprofessional, and once we saw the bill, it all made sense: a 20% gratuity was automatically added for just the two of us. With service like that, it felt more like a penalty than a tip. It was not brunch and we didn't have a large party. Just 2 people. And there was an expectation we'd tip again. To make matters worse, the music was so loud I had to shout just to talk across the table. Between the dismissive service and the uncomfortable atmosphere, it was a disappointing experience I won't be repeating.

Yelp
This is one of those places that is really difficult to rate, which is why I went last Tuesday but am just now reviewing. There are times when I wish yelp would allow separate ratings for the individual parts that make up a restaurant experience! First, the food: excellent, 5 stars Next, the location/parking, etc.: excellent, 5 stars Ambiance: pretty good although I expect it can get really noisy. Music a bit too loud. Booth very comfortable and decor fun, 3 stars Service: horrendous, 1 star. I arrived before my friend and instead of offering to seat me, the guy near the host podium gestured toward a nearby bench and brusquely said I could wait there. There were dozens of empty tables, and one with guests in. When she arrived, we waited a good 10 minutes without anyone coming to seat us. I mean, that guy disappeared and nobody else came. Once seated, the server brought water and menus, took my friend's drink order (cola) and then we waited another 10 minutes. Now the only reason they get 1 star at all for the service is that he was very nice, friendly and helpful. Then we waited fully 40 minutes for the food! I mean, if it was busy I would completely understand this, but with only 3 tables and a guy who gave up and went to sit at the bar, really?!? And when it arrived, it was minus the side order of sweet potato fries. Another 10 minutes and at least this time with an apology. So we both got jerk chicken with red beans and rice, and cabbage. All delicious, perfectly spiced and the chicken was melt in your mouth tender. Lots of food except the cabbage (surprised me) so I took home a good helping of the chicken and beans/rice, and a fair amount of fries. Another wait to get our check, long after we finished eating. The bill was around $45, which is reasonable. I left only a 15% tip and usually I will overtip if the service is good. So all in all, I won't go back. I realize every place can have an off day, but there are so many new places yet to try, this is a one and done for me.

Yelp
I've had mix feelings about this place. The food is good, I wished they used different seasonings for the Oxtails. The Brussel Sprouts were alright, that's something I probably wouldn't order again though. The drinks were pretty good but also may be a little strong for those who don't drink. The service was pretty good, I was here for a birthday party so for a big group the service was good. This place I'll say is a straight vibe though. Once it hits like deeper into the evening, the dj was bumping good music, they busted out a little bond fire, people were dancing. It was definitely a good time to meet new people. I'd return for the vibes to be honest.

Yelp
Tuesday 7/16/2024 Made a takeout order through DoorDash and got Rasta pasta $15, grilled jerk mad wings $17, half Slab of jerk bbq pork ribs with rice & peas and cabbage $25, jerk chicken flat bread $16, and a jerk chicken wrap $15 with truffle Mac n cheese $6. The Pickup and service process was nice and easy. - The Rasta pasta was easily my favorite dish: it was creamy and tasty. - The grilled jerk mad wings definitely could've benefited from a sauce as the wings were quite dry and $17 for 8 wings ($2+ per wing) is overpriced. Also there were still feathers on some of the chicken wings which isn't a great look. - The jerk bbq ribs were underwhelming: meat was tough to get off the bone and flavor was just alright. - The rice & peas were alright and the cabbage was a little disappointing but I've had better. - The jerk chicken flat bread was good but left me a little disappointed when there was zero green sauce or jerk bbq on it like I had ordered. Also the way they packaged the flat bread was messy and pathetic, it's like they just tossed randomly them in. - The jerk chicken wrap was decent. - The Mac n cheese was average at best and didn't have any seasoning or flavor that stood out for me. Overall, the food ranges from average to good but the higher prices for some of the items aren't worth it in my opinion. The best items like the Rasta pasta and jerk chicken wrap are some items that I'd recommend.

Yelp
I had lunch at Mad Cow Grill on Saturday. The experience was disappointing. Upon entering, no one greeted me and there were three men at the register/front counter. We placed an order for the oxtail rolls as an appetizer. It never came out, even when we inquired again when our entrees were served. My friend asked for hot water with lemon at least three times, and that never came out either. In the past, the jerk salmon was marinated. This time it was just sauce smeared over the fish. It did not taste the same. I substituted the creamed spinach for curried cabbage because the last time I ordered, the spinach did not tasted good. My friend took one forkful of her spinach and said it tasted horrible. The rice and cabbage were delicious. When the check came, we were charged for the oxtail spring roll we never received. We alerted the waitress and she said she would remove it. Never apologized nor checked on us during the course of our meal. Thankfully, she removed my drink since my friend never got hers. The vibe is not the same. I honestly feel like this location got de-prioritized when the Bowie restaurant opened. Our waitress seemed overwhelmed. While exiting, I got a slice of the banana cake. It looked different than what I used to order. When I inquired if they've changed the cake vendor they previously used, I was informed the manager baked the cake. The cake tasted good, but not as good and as moist like the former banana pudding cake. Overall, I do not foresee myself returning anytime soon, and I wouldn't recommend for dining unless you only want drinks from the bar.

Yelp
We came on a Thursday evening. The host in front told us to give him a minute and we stood there for a couple of minutes before someone else sat us down. Our waiter was okay. Within the hour and half we were there- he visited our table maybe 4 times. It took him a while to get our drinks. He was nice though. The food was also eh, nothing super crazy. My jerk salmon was bland. My greens tasted like nothing. My rice and peas were okay. I definitely wouldn't get this dish again. My friend got a burger and he said the meat wasn't seasoned. It is nice in there and can see why people come only for happy hour / the bar. Overall, I probably wouldn't come here again.

Yelp
The Only Review You Need To Read We decided to try out this restaurant tonight. My funny little hunny ordered the Unforgettable Braised Oxtails and I got a Build Your Own Burger. The Oxtail, rice & beans and plantains were good; the dumplings, not so much. My burger tasted like a boca burger - so plain and lacking any flavor. The fries were good. Our server Delasio was very friendly and attentive, so he's why my rating wasn't any lower. One thing to be aware of - if you're looking for a quiet dining experience, don't come here. We walked in and they were blaring Caribbean party music. I thought it might be a live band - nope, just a huge speaker blasting music for the entire time we were there, so if you want to have any conversation during your meal, be prepared to be yelling the entire time. It was almost comical how loud the music was. We both agreed that based on our meals, there's no need to return; although they do have various dishes involving jerk chicken which I like, so who knows.

Yelp
I finally dined at Mad Cow Grill in Laurel, MD. The service is great and the food is even better! It has a laid back atmosphere with excellent music playing over the sound system. I ordered the curry chicken with rice and beans, and plantains. The portion size was plentiful. I took half home. Although I didn't order cocktails or dessert they are on the menu and they look delicious! For those of you who are or have served in the military Mad Cow Grill offers military discount.

Yelp
Went on a Wednesday eve for Happy Hour. The food was great, really flavorful. Service was disappointing. Our server was new but it felt like we waited 20 mins for each part of our meal.

Yelp
We were seated on the patio because all the tables were occupied. They have heaters so the temperature pretty tolerable. The place was pretty crowded that day so we waited for our waitress for 15 mins. It was still happy hour when we arrived until 7pm so we were anxious to get our drinks in! Finally, she greeted us to take our orders and since 15 mins left of happy hour we ordered 2 drinks at a time lol. We ordering the jerk bbq wings for an appetizer and Rasta pasta for our meals. We waited an hour for the wings to find out they were out of them. So disappointing! I also ordered a salad and that took forever. You can tell they were understaffed but the service really needed some work. The food was good for the most part but not sure I'll be back on a Saturday night.

Fedelis T.

Yelp
I don't say this lightly: this Jerk Chicken Wrap is next level. I actually drove all the way from Alexandria just to get it again--and it was even better the second time. The wrap is packed with juicy, smoky jerk chicken that brings the heat in all the right ways. It's definitely spicy, but if you love spice like I do, it's perfection. The shredded lettuce, julienned veggies, and tomatoes give it a fresh crunch, and the wrap itself? Crispy, warm, and toasted just right--no sogginess here. Pro tip: ask for the jerk ranch. I don't know what's in it, but it's addictive and pulls the whole thing together. Beyond the food, the service is top-tier--friendly, quick, and genuinely welcoming. The vibe of the place is laid-back, fun, and full of good energy. It's one of those rare spots that makes you feel like a regular on your first visit. Honestly, part of me wants to keep this gem to myself... but the other part wants to shout about it from the rooftops. Chef Neville, whatever you're doing--don't stop. I'll be back. Again. And again.

Yelp
Took a friend here for Sunday brunch and I will say this by far has been my worst visit.. The Good Ample parking Not crowded outside we arrived around 1215 The Not so Good Only 2 flavors of cake for the past two days Short staffed My homie ordered waffles, scrambled eggs with cheese, potatoes and a mimosa. His eggs was pitiful check pictures lol. He sent them back I ordered the oxtails... and had water. I'm chomping on my oxtails ate one and a half by this point and here comes a lovely piece of black plastic, yep plastic. Waitress comes and take dish brings me another back out. Now my spidey sensors are up and low and behold a noodle looking thing under my oxtail I had just picked up. I tried cutting it with my fork to see if it was a spaghetti noodle and it didn't, I took my knife and tried to cut it no go. I held it up and on end was flat, I summoned the waitress she sighs and took that dish away and a manager came. He apologized and offered me a dish on the house although skeptical at this point I'm still hungry. The manager tried to tell me it was pasta I said nawww then he brought out a piece of dumpling like I don't know what dumplings are and I said sir I'm certain it wasn't a dumpling and showed him a picture. Which he took a pic of and left. Waitress took 42mins to get me our check which I ended up going to the little station to get. And the still charged me for everything the eggs we sent back, my meal after two horribly failed attempts and gratuity even thought it was just 2 people. If I go back I'll only do drinks it'll be hard decision to actually say come on let's go eat at Mad Cow like their meat had Mad Cow disease for re

Yelp
My niece recommended Mad Cow Grill for the fam to eat dinner. Interestingly, it's a fusion of American and Jamaican food. We were excited to try it out. We didn't make reservations but when we arrived there they quickly accommodated the party of 9. The staff were incredibly friendly and their customer service was on point. I ordered the grilled jerk chicken which was marinated jerk chicken served with rice and beans along with a side of curried cabbage. I had no regrets with my dinner. The chicken was well seasoned...sooo tender, juicy and hot in spice. I love spicy food so a friendly caution to those who are sensitive. All in all, the food was delicious with a kick and the ambiance was really nice especially listening to afro beats and reggae while we eat.

Yelp
My waitress Eve was truly amazing and really heightened the dining experience for me. Her professionalism and customer service: 15/10 Ordered: Moogarita, wings jerk bbq, Truffle Mac and cheese, Fish tacos crispy, & Rum punch Moogarita: 7/10 strong and cool mix Wings: 8.5/10 The Jerk bbq I'd just the rice amount of spice. Wings were cooked perfect and sauced evenly. I like them Truffle Mac n Cheese: 11/10 a must get. Extremely creamy and flavorful. I would return just to get this. Fish Tacos Crispy: Chef really went in their bag to make these. Such a simple dish but everything was made for each other and perfect. Orange sauce adds a charged flavor but isn't even needed. Get this. Rum Punch: 3/10 SUPER SUPER SUPER strong. Potent asf and if you have a refined rum/whiskey pallet, you will get a headache almost immediately after leaving. If they upgraded from rail liquor and charged a little more, I see potential. Total: $82.70 I'd return and only not get the rum punch.

Yelp
We ordered a burger and oxtails and a garden salad. The burger was overcooked (everyone does not like well done - I asked for Medium.) I made the mistake of not checking the bag. I had a Caesar salad instead. We had paid a $10 tip - to go! Check your bag and we likely will not return. To spend over $50 and not get it right is unacceptable. Nothing else matters

Yelp
I wouldn't spend another dime here lol. I went 2 times recently and couldn't believe how trash the food was. The jerk chicken sandwich I couldn't even eat. The chicken was not giving any type of jerk and the texture of the chicken was like someone microwaved it. I don't even know what that looks like but it just made me wonder if someone boiled and then microwaved it lol. Weird. Service was poor. The server didn't check on us after we received our food, which took a million years to come out. Matter of fact, he didn't come out until we finished "eating" and didn't realize one of us never got our food. The Rasta pasta was BASIC. I can't even give it a "mid" rating. It was such a waste of money. Idk what happened to this place. I wouldn't even go again to test if we just came at a bad time these last 2 times. Not even worth it. Oh, the curry chicken egg rolls was the only thing that was tolerable. Bye Mad Cow....

Yelp
Visit on a rainy Saturday during lunch. Wasn't too packed but filled up as the time progressed. Service was good. Was initially seated and attended to quickly. Service was a tad bit slow. Started with the happy hour drinks (yes happy hour on Saturday!) Pineapple ginger cocktail was 10/10 I ordered the jerk chicken and my friend ordered oxtail. Both sooo good! I enjoyed her oxtails more however. Meat is very tender. Music was also good in there. All in all a good experience and will return. The barn yard decor and cow logo threw me off a bit though since it was a Jamaican restaurant.

Yelp
I got the jerk chicken (lunch special) and it was delicious. It was hot & fresh. The curry cabbage was different but amazing. The service is cool. The host is always inviting. The music played during lunch is always on point.

Yelp
Good food. Had oxtail & ackee & saltfish. Was very authentic Jamaican. Service was good. Music was too loud and upholstery was worn & ripped. Recommend upgrading the furniture and figure out how to control the music volume. But I would definitely order carry out in the future.

Yelp
Okay. So, the only thing I can give this place.. is they have a good shrimp egg rolls. That, is it. Outside of that, this place is expensive.. and I mean overpriced expensive. Those egg rolls I mentioned, they were about $20 - the price of an average meal right? And that wasn't the rasta pasta I ordered either. That also, was a mid-$20 meal. Plus my two drinks, my total (for myself only) was nearly $80. Take that with you however you please... just bring your wallet if you're visiting this location. Last and second bonus point, they are good for groups. My family of 8 with a baby, were easily accommodated at a corner, round table.

Yelp
This experience was a pleasant surprise. Stopped in one afternoon for lunch around 1:30pm on a Tuesday. At this time, there weren't a ton of people inside. Few people seated at the tables and a couple at the bar. The place itself is quite large so plenty of seating room. I was excited when I saw the Caribbean options on their menu...to include one of my favorites...curry chicken. They have a lunch menu that has a variety of items. The prices were good in my option for lunch specials. The curry chicken came with rice and spinach. Nice sized portion for the price. Everything was delicious. The curry chicken (boneless) was giving just the right curry vibes. It wasn't too salty, which can happen sometimes. Meat was tender and the sauce had just the right amount of kick. I'm not typically a spinach with my curry type of girl, but I will be from now on. It worked really well together. The only downside to my experience was the service. For the amount of people there, the service was a bit slow. I sat at the bar and the bartender seemed more interested in setting up and cleaning the bar. It took a bit for him to approach me and take my order and the food seemed to take longer than it should have. The other downside is that the music was a bit loud for a lunch vibe. Aside from those two minor issues the place is a win for me. I'll def be back!

Yelp
It's crazy loud with hip hop music; wouldn't turn it down even when requested - the wait staff has trouble hearing the orders, so they do mess up orders a bit. But they make up for it with slow service. The food? OK, but not really much better. Tried it three times thinking maybe our experience wasn't typical. It was. If you want a burger in a quiet environment, this isn't it.

Yelp
I absolutely loved this place! It's quiet loud and the service is a little slow, but it was such a great experience! My friend brought me here for a belated birthday dinner. First time for both of us, so we were excited! We ordered the curry chicken spring rolls as an appetizer and they were delicious! The sauce was yummy too! We decided to share entrees, so we ordered the curry shrimp with cauliflower rice and wild jerk salmon. Both entrees were very flavorful and so delicious!! Great choices!! For dessert, I wanted the banana pudding cake but they were out of it :( The lemon cake was strongly recommended, so I went with it. YUMMY!!!! Overall, again the service is a little slow but if you have great company, it's all good. Great food experience!

Yelp
I love the ambiance here- I came on a Friday and loved the Dj and outdoor seating area. Wasn't a big fan of the food and service was very slow.

Yelp
Every time I come here I have a GREAT experience!! I was here last month to celebrate a friend's birthday at brunch. Today, I'm back for brunch to celebrate mine! And of course, I'm having my favorite item on the menu, the Red Velvet Chicken and Waffles!! The atmosphere is full of music and good vibes. The wait staff all have great personalities! They embody service with a smile here for sure! I've been here for happy hour once before, and that was enjoyable as well. Overall, I love coming to Mad Cow and look forward to my next visit!

Yelp
Good food and great drinks. Service was a bit slow but think the waiter was just having a bad day. Plenty of parking outside

Kenny C.

Yelp
There are reasons why there were no customers there at lunch time. The prices are way over the top. A burger and lemonade was $26. The burger was overcooked and not very tasty. Lemonade out of a jug? Sodas out of the can and no free refills? The server tried to lower our expectations by saying "We don't have Dr. Pepper. We're not in the South." Over-priced. Underwhelming. Won't go back.

Yelp
My daughter and I chose to have lunch here after leaving an appointment. When we arrived it was not busy, so we assumed we would be in and out, but that was not how it turned out. Ambiance was nice. We sat outside to enjoy the beautiful day as we enjoyed our time together. We both ordered burgers and Parmesan truffle fries. I ordered mine medium and she ordered hers medium well. Both came out well done, but we decided to keep them, because it took so long to come out initially. They were well done but still had good flavor so we enjoyed them. The fries however were not "steak" fries but more like wedges. I kept mine, my daughter swapped hers out for sweet potato fries, which she enjoyed much more. Service was good. Our server Gigi, was extremely pleasant. I believe they got a little busier than expected, so she was juggling about six tables. Overall, I'd rate our experience a solid 4 and am looking forward to stopping in for brunch one weekend.

Yelp
I am kicking myself for not getting to Mad Cow Grill sooner! Whoo Wheww!! talk about amazing! I was thoroughly impressed. My coworkers I visited the restaurant at 12pm on a Wednesday. I have been raving about this place, so I was glad to finally give them a chance. Mad Cow Grill offers both indoor and outdoor seating, and I even noticed an additional space for parties. We opted to sit inside as it was a warmer day. Our waitress was very friendly, in fact, the entire staff was. I ordered a rum punch, which I didn't finish. Not that it wasn't good....it was just VERY STRONG! I was flying out the next day, so I definitely didn't want to get lit and miss my flight. Definitely made a mental note to come back for happy hour with the husband AKA my designated driver. For my entrée, I ordered the "Better Call Saul", which was an Oxtail and Brisket burger served on Coco bread. Man, listen! This burger was AMAZING. I also ordered the Sweet Potato Cheesecake and Banana Pudding Cake for my husband. The desserts were equally as AMAZING!! I definitely will be returning, sooner rather than later!!

Yelp
I live in Southern Maryland but had some business to take care of in Laurel so I decided to stop at Mad Cow before heading back home. When I walked in, I wasn't greeted. Finally I asked If I could place a to-go order. There were 2 girls at the counter. The youngest of the two was kind and helpful. The other girl sat on a stool and scrolled on her phone. Almost everything I wanted to order they either out of it or only have it on certain days. They don't have oxtails, out of wings and only serve beef patties on Fridays. It definitely DIDN'T taste like authentic Jamaican food!! If I knew my experience was going to be this bad, I would have saved my money and went across the street to Negril. A complete WASTE of $21. I will never visit or spend another dime in the establishment.!!

Yelp
We were seated promptly. Large ceiling fans inside, kept us cool on a hot day. The GM took our drink order, Hennessy Margarita was delicious. The wait for food was a bit long but, they were busy. Oxtail.....I wouldn't order this again. Not the tender stewed oxtail I am familiar with. These were LARGE pieces that needed more time to boil. The gravy was thickened by a roux/slurry of some type. Just braised meat, nothing special. Presentation was off putting, everything was just big on this plate. Plantains- over cooked. Curry cabbage, was tasty.

Yelp
Something changed. it's as if they hired a new cook that doesn't know how to cook. The jerk wings were very dry. The omelette was thrown together with no flavor. The waitress seemed incompetent. She got the order wrong and when we paid she didn't bring back all of the change, she was $2 short and said they didn't have anymore change! My mind was blown. I try and support black businesses but I'm never going back nor recommending this restaurant to anyone.

Yelp
I've been here before on a random mid-week trip, but this time my homegirl and I decided to go on a Friday evening for happy hour. The positives are that the happy hour is from 4-7 and includes the whole restaurant, not just the bar area. The drinks are reasonably good around $6-7 for most and a variety. Food is also available, but as a pescaterian my options are quite limited, I believe only the brussels I'm able to eat from the happy hour menu. We were seated at a booth, it was about 4:45/5pm and there was a decent crowd at the bar, but as time went on the restaurant began to fill up as well. I had 3 of the pineapple gingers, they are delicious, I love them With such limited food options on happy hour, we decided to order off the regular menu. One of my pet peeves is for restaurants not to have things they advertise and the server doesn't tell you ahead of ordering. They were out of a lot of things. We settled on the red snapper escovitch, which was ok and my homegirl got a gluten free version of the rasta pasta with cauliflower rice and jerk salmon since the zucchini noodles weren't available, she loved it. What we didn't like is that the salmon was not served whole atop, but rather chopped in pieces and premixed in. I've had the rasta pasta before with the jerk salmon and it was phenomenal. The service was a bit slow and lackluster. The price point was a little over $30 for the gluten free rasta pasta and $40 for the whole snapper with two sides.

Yelp
Had 2 experiences so i will separate. 1st time was for dinner. Great experience server was great. The best mac and cheese i ever had. The jerk chicken sandwich on coco bread was just as good. My company had the burger and enjoyed it as well. Everything was great which caused me to return. 2nd experience was for brunch and that was horrible. I order shrimp and grits. Was not well seasoned and would definitely not get again. Company got oaxtail hash that was horrible. There was no sauce on it super dry. Potatoes was too hard. And they got a peach Bellini that was in a cup that had someone's lip stick on it already so clearly dirty cup. Then when I put myself on the list to be seated they didn't put me down so i had to come back in after waiting over 30mins like y'all said i would be ready. Just to be told the accidentally didn't put me on the list and i was hung up on when i called to check to see how much longer was the wait before i even went in to see why i didn't get a text saying we was on the wait list. Overall unpleasant experience and has really deteriorated my 1st experience of the place causing me to never want to return. Even though that mac and cheese was amazing

Yelp
Delicious! Food was literally everything!! I ordered Curried Boneless Thighs. These were beyond delicious! Drove 40 minutes to try this place out! So so good! Tender and flavorful chicken. The sauce was perfect. Spinach was cooked to perfection and didn't need anything to enhance the flavor. Just perfect. My brother got the ox tail and talked about it the entire dinner and left his plate totally empty. YuM. Lemon pepper wings that my daughter ordered were very flavorful and was a very large portion. My husband ordered the Rasta Pasta and although it looked bland it was a very welcomed surprise. He added salmon. The food was just fantastic! It was easy parking. The restaurant is small so there are limitations. Small bar area. There's outdoor seating which is kind of enclosed but we were not offered the option. There were 6 of us. The restaurant looked pretty empty but it was an hour wait. We went to a store in the shopping center to kill time but never received a text. After an hour we returned and there was seating but it seemed off that a text was literally never sent. Service was decent. I will return because the food was so amazing but will likely just do carry out.
