The food and drinks were absolutely amazing — everything we ordered was flavorful, well-prepared, and definitely the highlight of the visit. Unfortunately, the service did not match the quality of the food. Our waitress seemed focused on larger tables and repeatedly forgot about our two-person party. We waited a long time for basic service and had to flag someone down more than once. It’s disappointing because the food and drinks alone would have made this a great experience, but the lack of attention really took away from it. They did have XX though! So that was a plus.

The music was Mexican the food was Mexican on the menu but I could tell it was American Mexican I went with the steak medium rare Caesar w/ a side of refried beans.. the beans were good the salad was decent I like my lettuce to be more green but it was decent the steak was delicious. Now the margarita was the star of the show ! They have a full vast list of several tequilas on the menu .. I was relaxed & ready for the remainder of my day !

Been here twice now, once for drinks and once for actual food. I’m a fan of their frozen margaritas, seems like a solid price especially for the 33oz one. The al pastor tacos were also pretty tasty but I do wish they gave you more rice and beans with them, although can’t complain too much about them otherwise. Watched 1pm football here both times too and it hasn’t been loud at all either time, very quiet and easy to watch. Would recommend and will return for more margs!

Huge portions🌯 We sat on the patio along Stone St. - while the atmosphere was nice, the rest wasn’t. For the price, the portions were worth it. As someone who loves Mexican food however, the food fell short. I’m not sure if it was the lack of flavour in the food… There was not event a hint of the limes or cilantro that usually have you nodding your head. Or it could be that the food didn’t taste fresh. The rice was bland, the pico unsavoury, and the refried beans tasted like they’d been pushed around all day. Our server also wasn’t the best. I understand that we were seated on the patio and it takes a bit more patience to ask for water or napkins. But our server didn’t do so much as introduce himself. It almost felt like he was hiding from the patio section to avoid doing his job. He seemed annoyed when we asked for small things like hot sauce or an extra plate. We didn’t get our water topped off until we were finished and paying the bill. I wouldn’t recommend this restaurant when visiting Stone St.. When I’m back in New York I’ll be sure to try the others in the area.

The waitress reccomended the shrimp tacos so I got them. Within a few hours I was throwing up!!! Shrimp was definitely bad. Wont be returning.

Nice and spacious bar, there were large tables which was able to accommodate our large group. The drinks were really on point. I only had fries which was seasoned well and my colleagues did tacos and they said it tasted really good. We were checked on regularly to ensure we had drinks flowing. I'll give it a try again.

You definitely pay the premium for being in this area. Food was okay, but the drinks were quite expensive for what you get. Granted, it was fun sitting outside and the vibes were nice.

Food was okay, nothing noteworthy. But the service was fast, and we were seated quickly. I had the flautas and my son had the chicken quesadillas- both were good but portion size was small. My husband had the chicken burrito bowl which was good.

Great eats and wonderful atmosphere. I highly recommend this place. And the service was top notch as well.

Stopped by on a perfect day for outdoor dining. The waitstaff were very attentive. We split a Mexican Cesar and chicken fajitas. The food was unremarkable. Add a star if it's a nice day and you can eat outside.

This is some of the best Mexican we have had and that says something coming from NWA where we have a plethora of authentic Mexican restaurants at almost every corner! The fajitas were super tender and flavorful. The best part is that their corn tortillas are fresh! This gluten free gal was super excited! The meal was safe for my celiac needs and everyone in our party raved about the vibrant taste. We visited this spot after spending the day at the National park. It was a short walk from the ferry and another short walk to the subway! It is also a short distance from Walstreet! A great spot for us tourist checking out all NYC has to offer.

Had a great time here and absolutely demolished the chips and guacamole - maybe the best I've ever had. The enchiladas were also delicious. Service was quick and helpful. The inside of the restaurant was huge and very well decorated.

Always a great time and great food. So glad they bought the Jumbo Grilled Shrimp back to add to my ceasar salad. Paco service at the bar is the BEST.

Great spot to eat if you are close to the Statue of Liberty or in the Financial District. The restaurant has two levels and is larger than it looks from the outside. Excellent service and the food was outstanding with a very reasonable price. The carne asada taco were excellent

What I'd expect from a Mexican Cantina. Was pretty surprised how empty inside was considering outside was packed, great for us though. Had the Steak Burrito and Mexican Street Corn both were good. Felt bad for our server as the tray became unbalanced and three dishes went crashing to the floor. So, delayed one of the meals for our party. Everyone enjoyed the food and service was prompt. Can't say anything was memorable and not sure I'd go back if in the area.

I was visiting NYC for work and one of my colleagues decided to take me out to lunch at Mad Dog & Beans Mexican Cantina. This restaurant is located in New York City's Financial District. There is inside and outside table seating available at the restaurant. My colleague and I decided to eat inside the establishment. The ambiance was lively as soon as you walked in! One of the team members brought us to our table and provided menus. Their menu offers a wide variety of classic tacos, enchiladas, and sizzling skillet dishes. I immediately knew what I was going to pick, chicken fajitas. We also purchased an order of their chips and guacamole. The appetizers came out first. The guacamole and chips were delicious. The guacamole wasn't spicy, however, it was creamy, and had a earthy texture to it. The Fresh lime added to it brought a tangy flavor profile to it. This was probably my favorite dish of the evening. After waiting about 20 minutes, the entrées came out. The Fajitas were interesting. It was the first time that I've had chicken fajitas where the whole chicken breast was cooked and not sliced thinly. I'm used to having thin chicken fajitas slices to make mini tacos or wraps with. The chicken was also slightly burned. The side of rice, cheese, sour cream was yummy though! We had a good time at Mad Dog & Beans Mexican Cantina. It's in a great location and easy to get to! If I eat again at this restaurant, I'd try something different though perhaps some of their tacos.

The food was not great, but the outdoor seating during the summer is nice. They have tables filling the entire street on game days.

Always solid and pleasant experience on stone street in FiDI. Guacamole one of my all time favorites while dishes can be a bit small, overall quality of ingredients and taste are always on point. A staple of stone street, overall ambiance and decor provide both a comforting and impressive vibe. Obviously a price point given the location, but after about a dozen visits I can say they consistently deliver.

The upstairs area is perfect for a casual gathering with a large group. The food is pretty standard Mexican fare, and the drinks are fine. Premixed margs were enjoyed by our team. The service was terrific. I recommend for a casual, Mexican meal in a fun setting.

The fajitas for 2 were delicious and the atmosphere was nice and dive-bary. The only con is that we were seated at a corner table off the side of the bar and it wasn't the most comfortable dining experience. Our service was not terrible but just okay.

Came with a friend for her work event. They did have a room reserved for us upstairs so my review is based on that. First of all loved the decor and the service was phenomenal. All the wait staff were very friendly. Also despite the fact we were a big group we did not have to wait long at all to receive all our food. I got the chicken tacos which were very good and had some chips and guac which of course was great too. The only complaint I had were the refried beans were very unappetizing, which my friend also agreed with, but that's very minor issue especially considering they come as a side to the main dish at no extra charge. Great place, would definitely recommend!

Hoped into Mad dog and sat outside since it was decent weather. We ordered some large with queso and guacamole. We tried several flavors. All were ok. Nothing special. The queso, chips, and guacamole were good. Might try some food next time when in town.

This spot I picked randomly exceeded what I thought I'd find. Their dishes have perfect flavor profiles. The staff is welcoming and accommodating, and dishes come out quickly. The pricing structure shows customer awareness. This place meets all possible needs.

Delicious food but VERY loud. If that is ok with you then you will have a great time here. We felt like we were screaming over each other at the table but we really enjoyed the taste of our meal. We got nachos, a steak quesadilla, and a veggie burrito. All were good but the nachos were my favorite. They made sure each chip was covered with beans and cheese which I loved.

So I'm use to the 38th street location, I came here sat and the bar the bartender came over asked if we were ready. I ordered wings and guacamole she then stated it's not happy hour!!! How rude are you?! I come to this establishment all the time I didn't ask if it was happy hour. That right there left a bad taste I don't think I'll be coming back to this location. I'll stay at 38th where the bartenders are warming and not trying to insinuate you come for happy hour only sm

$75 for a pitch mango margarita Iv never had to spent 200.00 on unflavored Mexican food.. sad when we have to add your salt and pepper on Mexican food to get any taste to it ... Save your money this place is completely wasteful

We had fun celebrating Ciinco de Mayo here. The Coconut Margaritas tasted great. Our waitress, Lisset, was so sweet and took great care of us.

We were warmly greeted at the door and escorted upstairs to a beautiful cozy dining room. There was a large party of folks at a mas, long table in the middle, surprisingly the sound level was just right.... go figure. The guacamole and chips were excellen, that guacamole is now in my top three, absolutely wonderful. We indulged in chicken chimichangas and tacos Al Pastor, oth excellent. The service was outstanding, Beer was ice cold and my partner loved her margarita. We will certainly be back.

This place is a piece of sh*t to put it nicely. We ordered nachos and they gave us E I G H T CHIPS. For so much money not worth it the staff was nice but that's literally abhorrent. 8 chips with dry crusty bag cheese, one jalapeño, stale chip (yes I mean chip bc you only get ONE CHIP), and seed oil sauce. They also messed up a Diet Coke if that is even possible there wasn't a single bubble in the drink. Lame, boring, 0/10, would never come back after work again (take my word for it). Go somewhere else on stone street literally two feet away.

Service was horrible... Sat at the bar. We ordered tacos - when served they were cold. The attendant took the plates back and said they would be re-prepared. Twenty minutes later, they served again and they were cold again. We complained and she said it was either pleasing us or the chef and she chose the chef. We asked for a manager and she said the manager was off... not eating there anymore. We work in the financial district and often have chosen this place for lunch..

Came here with a group and the space had a nice vibe...the food was pretty good, but nothing to call home for. My only complaint was service was sparse..took awhile to get the bill..didn't ask if we needed refills or anything else...we wanted dessert but opted out because we couldn't find our waiter.

5/5 one of favorite Mexican spot to come to not only is the food super delicious they great happy hour and customer service is amazing . This spot is great for something if you're not hungry or if you're starving . The menu has so many options and drinks are due for super big in there and no reservations needed definitely go check it out

When we go to the downtown area we go here probably dozen times. Always a good experience Ordered a chicken burrito which had too much rice. Issue was addressed with mgt offering to correct any issues with our experience. I understand that restaurants have a bad dish once in a while. What's more important that a business offers to correct it. Because of that we will be back .

I come to Manhattan once a year, and a friend who loves Mojitos picked this place out. We arrived 15 minutes early and they were ready for us. Had our reserved table with our name on it, which was great... no wait time. The servers were really cool and place had this hippie and eclectic vibe with really good music. The drinks were especially good. They offered the usual margs, beers, and other cocktails. Mojitos and margs came in various flavors. I had two passion fruit mojitos. We ordered some guac for the table and were surprised when they asked if we wanted it mild, medium, or spicy. We got medium and did pack a small level of heat, but it was delicious. For my entree, I had the carnitas tacos, which came with 4 street sized tacos and a side of rice and black beans. I didn't particularly enjoy the black beans, but the tacos were good. The corn tortillas held up great, which is good because they have a tendency to fall apart. The beans needed more spice... they tasted very bland. Overall, it was a good experience and a nice vibe. Definitely recommend hitting this place up if you're in Manhattan near battery park.

Nice staff, and great drinks but this place gets busy and packed easily. Outdoor dining is first come first serve and easily fills up fast. My team reserved two tables to celebrate a going away party. Despite how busy things got. Our server was top notch and always made sure to check on us. Ensuring we were taking care of The drinks are nice and sweet! Hard not to order more. The guacamole was delicious and the chips were crispy. The queso was nice and cheesy. The front and back doors were open, someone was smoking nearby outside so. The smell entered the restaurant. Some tips: *** if you sit inside on the bench side of the table. make sure to watch your leg, bumping into the table hurts I learned the hard way. Since the bench and table are close in height

We LOVE this happy hour!!! The margs and beers are such a great price + the guacamole is incredible and a great price. Wish I could sit outside or at a table while enjoying HH but it is bar only. Being from Texas, the nachos & guacamole. We also LOVE the green Dos Equis and this seems to be the only bar around the city that has them! Service is always great and the margs are so yummy. Definitely my favorite stone street place :)

Thanks to the waiter Kevin who attended me and to the manager Eduard for his attitude and good treatment I recommend the wings, and the chips with guacamoles as a starter, and for drinks the gin with lime juice and cocktails the mango and guava margaritas.

Well, very close to ferry if time is happy hour time would be great. Because guacamole was good! $15 but happy hour would be $8 . Taco was little smaller than I expected but they served with rice and beans would be fine. Out side was packed but inside even very hot day people want to eat or drink out side. But I'm not! just getting AC is my choice. I recommend happy hour time other wise I'm not come back again....

I came in after Thanksgiving, so naturally, they decorated for Xmas and it looked adorable! It has a warm and cozy feel here. I thought it was actually going to be way bigger, but it was small and you can tell its fun at night. The music was at an average level, but I bet at night time it gets loud. Which also peaks my interest to return again later at night. (this was a lunch break for me.) As soon as I walked in, the host & bartender greeted me and were both very sweet! I rode in on a segway scooter and the host even asked if they could keep it safe in the front with them. SUPER thoughtful of them. Especially because NY hosts are known for having a Napoleon complex. I came in for a quick lunch and their happy hour starts at 2:30 until 6:30 (unheard of) and I think that was super neat and flexible. ***Try to get here right before the happy hour starts. You can tell this place can get busy but luckily I came on a Thursday. They had Margaritas for $8/$9, House Wines for $7 & Mexican Beer for $6. The food menu is light. Chips and Salsa for $3, Guac for $8, and Mexican Hot Wings got $9. I decided to order the wings with the bartender. Armando was so helpful! I asked them about their opinion about the wings and said they only like wings all flats (uhm - same here !?) so I ordered them all flats well done. I see that many of the reviews say that "service is spotty" or "service is slow".. I dont know if it's because I came in on a Tuesday at 2:30, but service was NOT slow. It was quick and excellent. I ordered my wings at 2:45, and they came out in 10 minutes which was amazing. I was afraid the wings were going to not be "well done" since they came out quickly, however, they were perfect. The bartender DID mention that they loved them, but they are not for everyone because of the spice level (apparently more spicy than other establishments buffalo sauces.. I LOVE spicy food. If you like SPICY buffalo, GET. THE.WINGS. They were perfect. The fact that for happy hour they are only $9 and you get 10 wings is unheard of. The price of chicken wings is almost $2 PER WING anywhere you go with inflation. THIS place is doing it right and giving you the best bang for your buck for wings. I just wish they gave me the citrus slaw to balance the spiciness of the wings but ill ask next time! Im sure its fabulous. I will definitely be coming back with my friends to enjoy a night out / have a few pregame drinks, and recommend to anyone looking for a quick, decently priced lunch/early dinner. I think nighttime is for getting drunk and having munchies. (thats just my opinion) but I will be returning. The staff is extremely friendly and fun. Thanks Mad Dogs!

This is a review for 6-25-25. Mad dog beans is just what you need for a hot steamy day. I missed happy hour but that is fine. I got their frozen margaritas: regular and passion fruit and an order of their chips and salsa sampler. The margaritas were yummy and the chips were good. All in all it was a pleasant experience.

Exceptional service. Adorable and lively ambiance. Tasty treats. Great tequila/mezcal flights. Relatively inexpensive. Pearl street is a great spot for dining and drinks.

I often come here with coworkers for our lunch break. Truthfully, I am ALWAYS in the mood for Mexican and a margarita, and Mad Dog has yet to disappoint. The inside is tight, so I prefer to sit upstairs. But, once seated, the service is always prompt and friendly & pricing is reasonable for the location. There is also outdoor seating available as well on sunny days. Pending on your party size or time of visit, I do recommend making a reservation here. (Although I have never had an issue getting a reservation during lunch.) Each time that I am here, I order a pomegranate margarita, which I always find flavorful. My coworker had a spicy margarita, which she did enjoy- although she said it was almost too spicy at first. (She did get used to it & ordered a second.) Warning: they do pack a punch. After having two, I recommend a water or two. For an appetizer this time, we got the queso dip and a side of guac. (There are no complimentary chips and salsa, so if you want chips, you have to get them as an appetizer.) The queso dip was spicy and flavorful. While we didn't feel we needed a whole second appetizer for two people, the side of guac was SMALL. We then got two different quesadillas (cheese and steak.) the quesadillas were hot and good! The cheese one was literally overflowing with cheese. One of the downsides that I've experienced each time I've been here is that at times, the service can feel a little rushed (which can be a pro to some, considering your situation.) personally, I prefer a little more time between appetizers and lunch / dinner. Pros: delicious drinks and prompt service Cons: spicy margarita was a little too spicy, the side of guac was SMALL, & sometimes you feel rushed Overall, I thoroughly enjoy Mad Dogs for a delicious margarita and some quick Mexican food!

Have been coming here for a few months now. Always seems to be a pretty good time. Came as part of restaurant week so we had the selected menu options. The food was tasty and our waiter was pretty good. No one's fault in particular-- but we had to sit at a table near the door so felt much of a cold draft. Cool area on stone street. Would come back.

Definitely one of my favorite Mexican spots in the city. I love that the back of the restaurant is on Stone Street which gives an opportunity for outdoor seating that isn't on a curb. Their margaritas are so good and they're strong. Margaritas on the rocks are generally stronger than frozen but both are pretty strong @ Mad Dog. The wings and quesadillas are usually what I ordered and they're both very good. Oh and the guac...it's made to order between mild and spicy. Beware, the spicy is VERY spicy.

Came for dinner on cinco de mayo without a reservation and got seated party fast. It seemed like the party was downstairs and looked body to body. Upstairs, we ate, drank and they handed out sombreros to everyone. Very fun time!

The overall rating fits the overall experience. Sometimes it works out that way, which is not always a bad thing. It is not easy to find this Cantina, but once inside, it has that feel with the music blaring and a simple menu. The food is not cheap here, but if you plan on eating in FiDi, you have to have the green to back up that fine dining atmosphere, or something like it. Before ordering, I was torn between the tacos al pastor and the burrito. My server suggested the steak burrito, so I went with it. Next time I will try the tacos. But... Then the food came. A burrito the size of a football stood before me. I carved my way through this monstrosity to find a marvelous mixture of flavors. If any of them stayed by themselves it would be mediocre. Making it a medley of spice enabled it to be something special, but not $16 special, especially since nothing comes with the burrito. Do eat here, do not over indulge.

Visited with some friends for Cinco de Mayo and was a bit disappointed with the overall experience. We showed up around 6pm and there was a massive wait, which is understandable. We were told it would be about 2 hours, so we put down our name and waited for a call. When we came to check our place in line 2 hours later, we were told there were still a few parties ahead of us, but they couldn't provide us with a time. So we left to find another Mexican restaurant. About 20 minutes after we left, we received a phone call from Mad Dog saying we were next, so we rushed back and were seated outdoors on Stone Street. Part of the reason we wanted to come was because they had advertised all over their Instagram that there would be a fiesta with free tequila/beer tastings and prize giveaways. We were there for a couple hours, and we didn't receive anything of the sort. When we asked a waiter about the prizes, he just said he didn't know about it. We had the nachos to share, which were tasty. Each nacho is covered with cheese and all the other toppings are on the side, so you essentially build your own individual nacho. I also had the steak burrito with a margarita, both of which was really good. All in all, the food is decent at Mad Dog, but our experience was soured by the massive wait for a so-called "fiesta" that didn't happen.

Mad Dog has generous portions for their food. The waitstaff is all friendly and helpful. My crew ate outside and we really enjoyed the ambiance of the restaurant! We had the Chimichangas, Chicken Nachos, and Chicken Tacos! Each dish was excellent in its own way. Would definitely recommend!

Came here on a Friday night at 8:30pm for a late dinner with a friend. They had both indoor and outdoor seating available at the time. They checked our vaccines/IDs after we chose indoors and seated us promptly on the upper level. The restaurant is huge and would be great for larger parties. We ordered Palomas which were prompt and delicious. Placing our food order and getting our food to quite a while, but was worth the wait. I got the vegetarian burrito which was topped with guacamole and pico de Gallo and bathed in the most amazing red and tomatillo salsas. The flavors really exceeded my expectations and so did the size of the burrito. My friend really enjoyed her chicken enchiladas which came with rice and beans. Overall, a great dinner spot or a small or large party, delicious food, and decent service. I'll be back!
