A fun place to hang out with friends with good music, delicious food, and reasonably priced food. This place also has good open window seating for people watching on Haight Street. The Bammer and Mash was delicious. Both my best friend and I tried it and have both been to London and we said the food here is even better. The corn digs were small but bulky and super filling. I would recommend them, also.

Great visit..! The Guinness was great.. Irish breakfast, great.. plus the lovely lady at the bar is awesome..! They also have a load of football (read soccer for Americans) scarves.. couldn't believe there was one from Matlock.. random small town in Derbyshire..

We'll be hitting up the Mad Dog for some bangers as soon as we adjust the Whipply Pimpertickler on Goosebump Charlie's old Draveport Traveler, that way he can use it for something other than a door stop at his place there on the Ashbury. WOW! That Mad Dog restaurant sure can put out some great food, might even day it was Amazing! ☆☆☆☆☆

I'm originally British, so I love to visit a British style Pub whenever I find one. This certainly looks the part with the bar and seating typical of a city style pub in Britain, though missing the more cozy sitting areas that you might expect in a rural pub. So I was excited, but so disappointed that the only British beers were Smithwicks and Guinness which are of course Irish! Would have loved to see an Old Speckled Hen or Fuller's. I ordered the Shepherd's pie. It was excellent though a long time coming. I haven't marked down the Service because the bar tender was great. There were a couple tables outside on the sidewalk. We sat by the nice large open window overlooking the street.

Perfect SF bar. Lots of space throughout, yummy foods like nachos and wings, cool bartenders, easy and quick service. All walks of life welcome as long as you're not rude. Came here with some friends since we all got laid off. Always worth the stop no matter if you're in the neighborhood.

I had the best mozzarella sticks of my life here. The breading is light, crunchy and the red sauce pairs perfectly. They also carry IPAs which me and my partner love. A must visit if you are in the area!

Haight Ashbury's BEST hidden gem bar. The menu is surprisingly good too. Ample of seating and pool tables at the far end. Used to be a favourite lower haight spot. Great for a DAYTIME or evening hangout during / after the Haight Ashbury stroll. On the menu - the tortilla chicken soup was outstanding, service is great and bartender JAMES makes it a point to remember you even if it gets busy - that's the kind of place you wanna go back to. Mad Dog's the type of place that blends an afternoon well into the evening whilst hanging out with friends on a SAT/SUN or any game night. A MUST visit Height Ashbury experience. 5 STARS

Went for beers and trivia and had a fantastic time. Servers were great and calm despite the crowd. Oh, and finished 4th with a very small team. 😎

Came here for a few drinks and something to eat at this bar in Haight-Ashbury. It may be a sports bar but it has a classy coolness about it. The Mad Dog In The Fog is more of a bar than a restaurant. Has a pretty impressive list of cocktails. You can also get some light fare such as chips and guacamole. A neighborhood known for hippies has a bar that's more like a place for sports fans. It's got plenty of TVs for watching games. There's all kinds of sports memorabilia and crap on the walls. Gets loud. We came and got seats at the bar and ordered. It's about $12 for a cocktail. There's also plenty of beers on tap. I got a Haight Street Manhattan. This is Four Roses with bitters and sweet vermouth. Also we shared an appetizer. It's about $9 for the Chips And Guacamole. The rest of the menu has burgers, wings, and other meaty things. Good place to hang out a bit. It's pretty crowded for games. There's lots of TVs for watching sports or whatever.

Came for Thursday trivia night around 8:30 in a group of 12 or so and sat in the back area behind the pool tables. There wasn't as much of a crowd as I was expecting, but still busy for a week night. The trivia was hard, questions difficult to hear, and our server pressed to make us order quite a bit. I liked the number of TVs available around the walls, it was easy to keep up with the game throughout the night. We ordered a large plate of chicken wings at one point, and they were way spicier than I expected. Ended up not finishing them due to the spice and tough texture of the chicken. Overall, big place decent for a casual night out. Food is okay, a bit pricey for the experience.

Just moved near the area and had the chance to stop by this awesome dive. Drinks check, wings check, ambiance check! Always a good vibe and engaged servers.

This is a really chill bar with some good food! I had a beer and a cheesesteak with a side of Cole slaw. The portions were large and the food was fresh. It was also nice to be able to get a vegetable with the a greasy sandwich.

We're huge fans of this spot! The expansive interior, lively vibes, and diverse game options, like pool tables, make for an unforgettable experience. Drinks are stellar, priced just right. As for the food, it's the ultimate bar fare, perfect for sharing with friends. A must-visit for a fun night out!

Mad dog is great. It's a sports pub and you get exactly what you would expect. I was here for a standup comedy open mic which is fun. I've had the wings and the burger both good, only got a picture of the Diet Coke. Will be back

Friendly service and the drinks were great! A fantastic place to chill. Games were playing on the tvs above and we'll definitely come by when we're in the area again!

The garlic fries were not what we expected. Plain fried with a bunch of sautéed garlic dumped on top. Really didn't expect that. Maybe it's just us? You decide.... Beer is good. Service is good.

Absolutely horrible. Do NOT waste your money here. The customer service is even worse. Took 15-20 mins for our server sammi to even take our order. We asked for waters, our change and a to go box and never received it. I had to ask her TWICE for my change. She looks like she was on something and then we never received our water or to go box. We just left. My boyfriend is also a sever and we always tip well because we know how it is but she genuinely did not deserve it. Seriously the worst place ever. 0/10. If I could give 0 stars I would !

This bar has moved from the lower Haight to the upper Haight. It's a great location right in the middle of the upper Haight. Lots of seats and very friendly bar tenders. The bar itself isn't a fancy place. But they have great window seats to watch the Haight go by. They have two pool tables in the back. We often use them. My wife's getting a little too good! Great tap beers. Elysian space dust is my personal go to. But the Guinness is the bar favorite. For a snack I HIGHLY recommend the Wings. They are big and delicious. I get them naked with the sauce on the side, so it's a lot less messy. But the portion is great and the price is probably the lowest on the Haight. Definitely worth popping in the next time you're wandering around the Haight.

Keep it simple, and keep it fresh. They have futbol games, rugby. This is a classic Irish bar. Watch a game, relax with a pint. Eat traditional Irish pub fare

The food was incredible! Seriously, I couldn't take a photo of the nachos because I devoured them so quickly. We also took advantage of the Jell-O shots and beer and had the best night. 10/10 will return again!

This bar is much bigger than it looks, it goes all the way backk ~ so there is plenty of seating. Its a pretty good sports bar! Came here with some friends to watch the super bowl. No cover, no food and drink minimum which is a bonus! And the wings were really good. A lot of meat on these wings and right level of tangy. I see now why they're voted best buffalo wings in SF. The place was packed but it was never a long wait to get drinks or use bathroom. So they're very efficient and keep the place very tidy.

My friend and I stopped here during our exploration of San Francisco. It is close to the home of Jimi Hendrix. We had a drink here and a great conversation with the bartender. The entire place has a great vibe to it. We were thinking of possibly eating here. The bartender went to check on if I would be able to. I greatly appreciate that. Sadly, I was not able to eat here but I enjoyed the experience regarding I highly recommend coming here!

HANDS DOWN the BEST fish and chips I've ever had in my life!!! Amazing staff and vibe as well.

My local bar that I'm so relieved has opened back up again after a long hiatus. Mad Dog has great sporting games on TVs, a bunch of pool tables in the back, tons of great beers on tap, and a killer food menu. I haven't come to Mad Dog yet for any of their weekday events (like trivia), but I am always impressed at how great service is here on busy game days and party days in SF (Bay to Breakers, etc...). My only qualm would be for them to book DJs more often as it's always a great time when they have fun music playing from the back of the bar!

They have trivia every Tuesday. It's fun. Good food and great service. Best place to be on a Tuesday with friends.

my experience at this pub was ok. I rate the atmosphere and beer selection as not bad, but there are a few thing that could be improved. i would like to note that there is a large selection of different types of beer. The minor negatives that I would like to note are that the waiters seemed unvailable, and processing orders took longer than expected, but this is justified by the large number of customers.Overall this pub is a good place.

Originally in lower Haight, this place moved closer to Haight-Ashbury but retains the same ambiance as the former. Large tap selection and full bar, new spot is updated with more TVs and is sure to ba an accessible sports bar in the area. They even have Jell-O shot syringes and food. Glad to see this place returning in a even bigger location.

It's great to see this place back in action. The food remains just ok but you're probably there for sports and beer and the food is good enough. It's a little nuts that the same folks own this place and Kezar (which is like only a 5 minute walk away). But it seems like it's working out and I hope that continues to be the case.

I've been here several times but came here recently for Sunday Football lunch/drinks with some friends. The place was packed but our waitress Veronica did a terrific job of waiting on us along with what seemed like 20 other tables. Great service, great beer and cocktail selection and everything our table ordered was delicious. We will be back for Sunday Football sure! Btw, the fish and chips is one giant piece of fried fish and it's delicious. The table next to us apparently didn't read the menu and was upset about it

Super fun trivia night taking after its original namesake in the lower Haight! Huge place with plenty of seating for all.

Pretty much Kezar pub east. Same owner. Same menu. Same delicious wings. More light. Come Here. Cheesesteak is very solid. If you want good classic pub food this is the best spot in the neighborhood. Much better than Flippin burger.

I haven't been to Mad Dog in maaaaany years, so maybe this review is pointless lol?!? I remember the food being great, and the Irish Pub atmosphere being fun... Haight street is desolate now (or was last year?), but I think I'll have to make a special trip and see if things are waking up again (not the strung out people begging for money... the businesses and the great pubs that used to be around). Worth another visit, definitely.

We walked in spontaneously and had the best time! Bartender(guy was with the long hair) went above and beyond. They took care of us and gave us Bloody Mary shots which was so appreciated. Just such a good vibe and the atmosphere was great due to the bartenders! I would recommend this place to anyone.

Compared to the gut wrenching experience I endured across the street at Gold Cane Cocktail Lounge, I would suggest highly that you go to The Mad Dog In The Fog instead. This establishment truly respects our country and community on a connective level. They welcomed me with open arms of true brotherhood after my horrifying experience. Not to mention it was quite clean compared to that of the Gold Cane Cocktail Lounge's bathrooms and pest infestation. I found that this business was built from the ground up with loving arms. My day was improved in quality by this fine establishments service.

bar is cool, fun trivia night. the irish bartender Cillian is the absolute worst and rude but besides that, decent place.

My neighborhood favorite! Great friendly staff, cocktails are on point, decent food menu and faces the sun during the afternoon so it's great for people watching too.

My bf and I just moved here close to Haight St so we've been trying a different local bar every night. Well, not every night, lol, the nights we go out I mean! Night 2 was The MDITF. We had a great time, drinks were strong and reasonably priced and the food was AWESOME! We both had fish n chips and it was the best ever! We'll definitely be back. Only reason I didn't leave 5 stars is because the bartender seemed a little, let's say, out of his depth. He was pretty slow and it wasn't that busy but no biggie.

Place is super cool looking. Drinks are a little on the high side but good enough. Food was fantastic and the atmosphere was fun. Great bar to hang in!

Cant say enough good things. Came to town with my lover and, truthfully, decided to check out this establishment because the name kicked ass. Very cool vibe inside. Our bartender Kimi was mad chill!!! Took care of us and made the afternoon super fun. Really glad to have stumbled upon this place. Will definitely be back!!! Connor's killin it! I went to Mad Dog in the Fog for trivia last night (Trivia is on Tuesday at 8:30). Their trivia guy is great, highly recommend. It's a price sports bar, with a row of huge booths. I can see how it'd be a good place to watch a game. They have a lot of beers on tap, but all of them taste a little off. I tried a few, but none were quite right. We had their cheese fries, which were pretty good for bar food. They melt real cheese on top, and give you a side of ranch.

One of the BEST bars in the area!! Great food, great beer selection! Great for PACKER GAMES! Kimi is one of the BEST bartenders they have. She is very attentive, hard working and knowledgeable on everything. So when you come here make sure you ask for her and you will have a great time!!! #CHEERS

My go to place in the neighborhood. Staff puts SJ Sharks games on for me when they are on. They've always been fairly attentive to me even when it is busy. If you are looking for soccer or rugby, this seems to be the place. Have met some interesting people from all over watching some games. Decent draft selection and an interesting assortment of bottles. The burger and Buffalo chicken sandwich are solid options. The couple times I've had the calamari, I've found it to be cooked just right.

Horrible experience. It was extremely difficult to get the attention of any of the servers. And then the guy with the blonde hair and accent made us pay before we even got our food because he was "closing out" his shift. But he only asked us if we wanted a drink, after 15 minutes of waiting for him to come back, we flagged down another server to take our order. And yeah, we were sitting at the bar!! I also asked for a water several times and then finally this girl, tall, blonde with weird earrings, said she was kinda busy. I said I'm sorry I've asked the other girl server several times and she hasn't gotten me one. Then finally after I asked again, she got it and said "water" and gestures down the glass sarcastically. I watched a ton of food sit in the window for 5+ minutes before being taken out. Obviously understaffed or they have incompetent staff. Then the first girl in the Green Bay packers shirt came back over and said, "you know there self serve water right?" And I said, "um no? We are at a bar and you are servers, you said you'd get me a water so what gives?" And she said, "this is a bar and we can cut people off and kick them out." Then she turned to her equally horrible server and said, "there two girls are leaving." Why be so rude when you literally said you'd grab me one? Some people shouldn't be employed and that girl in the packers shirt is one of them. Find a job in a factory where you aren't around people because clearly you don't know how to interact.

Beer was terrible - Boddingtons was sallow colored, sharp texture and did not look like a nitrogen pour. It had a cider taste to it, very fizzy, very gassy. Sent it back, got a Sierra... This was much darker than usual, with strong nutty overtones, very gassy. Can only imagine these guys have never drunk beer, and have never been shown how to clean the lines. They were pretty pissed I disagreed on what these brews taste like every where else you can get them.

Love the beer here. Lots of draft options, and a really nice patio (smoking allowed). Food is average bar food, but I've always had quick service. Bartenders are chill, and there's a pool table if you want some competition thrown in.

I like the bar scene here! They deck this place out when it comes to a certain themed holiday! They have a wide variety of beer selections and TVs hung for an adequate view of the game going on! Their wings are nicely fried and of the norm of buffalo flavored! Yum! They have other bar grub food as well! Wings, however, are a classic favorite of mine! They have an outdoor patio so you can treat this place as a biergarten, by all means!

I came here yesterday to watch the Packers-Falcons game and little did I know this place is a Packer bar! Tons of cheeseheads lol I thought this place was ok. It's ok for what it is; beer, bar food, short seating, etc etc. Unfortunately, they don't serve hard liquor so that becomes a small turn-off. I wouldn't come back but it's an ok place to watch a game in case every other bar is packed up.

If I lived near this bar, I'd be there every Friday night. Friendly employees, big, clean space and a fun crowd. Dogs allowed. Also saw some kids bring their pizza in to eat. A totally laid-back "neighborhood pub" feel. Even though my friend and I closed the place, they never made us feel like they were eager to get us out of there. My only complaint is a trivial one...the lightbulb in the bathroom burned out so I had to, um, take care of business in pitch black darkness. Good thing I have lots of practice.

Sort of a hole in the wall vibe to this pub. Their trivia master is really good. It moves along quickly with a ton of questions. The space really doesn't have much seating though, so it's hard to get a group in one place for the trivia. Also, the front door has been broken for years, and they don't get it replaced for unclear reasons, but what this means is that the door is always open during business hours which can be problematic on a cold day. Also, why is the beer of the month always Bud Light?

Lots of draft beer selections. Pretty spacious. Backyard area for smoking and whatnot. One pool table. Good service. Not too crowded early in the evening.

Came in Tuesday night with my coworkers for trivia (started at 9 after the World Series game ended) and was not disappointed! It gets crowded but lots of fun. Got there at 7:30 to grab some beers and food first! 5/5 - black bean quesadilla. Delicious, hot, lots of cheese and enough beans. 3/5- side of fries, nothing special weren't particularly hot when they came out 3.5/5 - nachos! We got ours with guac and chicken. Found there were too few chips for the entire thing - some chips were also either completely buried and soggy or completely untouched by the cheese. Still solid overall 4/5 - wings. So yummy with just enough kick. Blue cheese and ranch dressing made them even better. Beer wise- we just got the buckets of bud light and Budweiser! Will be back another time! We ended up getting second place (tied) which means that you get a free bucket of beer at the end too! :)

If your a fan of beer they have plenty of beers on tap and bottles. It's just a beer and wine place. So if you want mixed drinks or shots you gotta go somewhere else. Which is kinda of a big disappointment. They do serve food, but we didn't try any of it. It was your basic pub food. The service was just ok, the bartenders were nice but not overly excited to serve you. The atmosphere was cool and up beat.

Ok pub/bar that we stumbled upon after a 9 mile walk, so the 2 pints of beer were very welcomed. Went in for happy hour and asked wht the happy hour deal was and that was $1 off beer that was it. No one really in there but the bar tender was friendly and the beer did the trick. They have an outside patio which is pretty cool.
