Mad River Distillers at 5th Quarter Butcher & Provisions

We did the tour of the distillery itself and it was a great experience. We were able to taste a tremendous amount of products and walked through the whole process. Very low key, able to ask tons of questions and see a ton of operations in process. Excited with the several bottles we purchased.

We took a distillery tour at the Waitsfield location. Brad was so knowledgeable and kind and made our visit very enjoyable. There was lots of sampling and a very detailed tour which we thoroughly enjoyed. I would recommend visiting the distillery if you’re in the area.

Was at Bennington May Fest this past w/e. I stopped by your tent for a tasting. Needless to say I had to purchase your Fig Manhattan. I am a Manhattan consumer for many years. This was the best I have ever had in many years. The combination was delicious. Loved it.

Great place! Stopped in this holiday weekend. Had a pint and shared a curated cheese board made up by the staff after a couple of questions about preferences, tastes, etc. Will DEFINITELY go back and certainly recommend to anyone looking for a fun activity and a way to try local bread, cheese and beer!

Perfect selection, knowledgeable staff and great tasting opportunity. I was hoping for more merchandise for Mad River Distillers since I was visiting from out of state on a business trip but I had to settle for a couple of bottles that I can't get back home. Poor me! :)

Just visited the tasting room in Burlington, Tristan is great, knows the product, is passionate about what he is doing, really made for my wife and I, a great afternoon. Their whiskies are some of the best I have tasted by a craft distillery, the bourbon, the rye, even the malvados (aka: Calvados).

Free tastes and a great selection of other goodies. Sampled all the Mad River whiskeys and went with a bottle of the Revolution Rye.

Some high end spirits here. Their First Run Rum and Corn Whisky were my favorites. A little too costly for regular drinking on my end. Gifts so far.

I'll keep five stars for the effort they make and add - cost. It is significantly expensive than other places for some items. My most recent visit to VT I went to Mehuron's Supermarket across the street and found some of the same cheeses less expensive. I bought VT Blue's and one of my favorites, Cobb Hill's Ascutney Mountain, and syrup, at the supermarket, and a few others here.

High end quality, curated items. Went here two weekends ago and tried some different cheeses. The cheesemonger was very knowledgeable! I ended up getting the Cabot/jasper hills cheddar and my husband got another cheddar. And I couldn't pass up some of the other items like maple popcorn and buttercrunch.

I really liked this place. I unfortunately came during covid, so the experience was much more limited, but I would easily come back here. I did order a grilled cheese, and this was probably the best grilled cheese from a cheese shop i've ever had. Was it mind blowing, no, but it was darn good. Will easily come back here the next time i'm in Vermont.

Great little shop, in the plaza next to the Shaws. If you request, they'll let you try some cheese samples of numerous local cheeses. Lots of the places on the VT cheese tour aren't currently offering tastings, so this gives you that option, without the drive! Lots of great local chocolates and other food items.

Interesting little place. Not quite a deli, not quite a restaurant. "Taste Place" is a good description, because you can get a good little taste of various things here. I was there for lunch (after discovering another restaurant closed earlier than their posted hours), with my wife, her brother, and his wife. I got a tasting of the wares of the Mad River Distillers (good stuff!). The four of us shared two Plowman's Lunches, getting tastes of a wide variety of the cheeses that seem to be the place's mainstays (most of which I liked; as for the rest, remember, not everybody likes every variety of cheese), plus of course all the other stuff in the lunches. They were also quite generous with additional bread slices when needed to go with the cheese. If you're in the area and curious about the local cheeses or liquors, or just want some cheese (be it for a quick snack now or to have on hand for later), definitely check it out!

One of the best stops in Waitsfield. Reasonably priced meat and cheese plates with knowledgeable staff to boot. Always love talking with the staff and listening to their suggestions on what to try. They have have yet to mislead us.

I would give this place 6 stars if I could. The quality of food is outstanding - whether it's the delicious Vermont cheeses, cured meats or tasty beers, ciders and coffees that are offered. They have an extensive refrigerated selection of beers and ciders for purchase or you can do one or a flight of what they have on tap for the day. They may have the best grilled cheese I have ever had. The service they offer is off the charts. Mary Tuthill runs the place and she is phenomenal with her dedication to quality and friendly but informative service. She is on my short list of favorite humans currently living on the Earth. We had a meet and greet prior to our wedding here in 2018 (~50 people came) and people are still raving about it. Mad River Taste Place is one of the 'if you are nearby you HAVE to go' on my Vermont recommendations list. I would be there all the time if I didn't live over 300 miles away. Even still I manage to go 2 or 3 times a year to get my cheese and beer fix by the comfy seats next to the fireplace.

Mary and her crack staff do a fantastic job bringing amazing and high quality Vermont food and drink to the Mad River Valley. The local cheese selection is curated by such knowledgeable and thoughtful staff who are genuinely invested in sharing these amazing cheeses and local products. They have Mad River Distillers and all the craft beers that Vermont is famous for. Worth a stop and for sure you will find something special from Vermont you can take home.

Finally was able to stop here and try 2 ploughman's lunches. I also sampled a few spirits and wines. Being able to purchase a few of the state's cheeses, ciders, beers and spirits in one spot is wonderful!

Fabulous spot in Waitsfield to score a fabulous mix of local cheese, assorted charcuterie, brews, ciders, Mad River distillers spirits and a mix of other local foodstuffs all in an open, inviting space. I stocked up on a number of great selections that the friendly and knowledgeable staff were able to direct me to. I'll bring a cooler next time coming thru.

Excellent service and products. Everything here is top quality the beer, cider, syrup and the CHEESE is really impressive. I bought some of everything and all items are impressive. The prices are based on quality but many items including beer and cheese are fair compared to other places.

Such a great addition to the valley. Local cheese and food and beer selection. A really great place to stop and bring home a taste of Vermont

Up in Waitsfield for the week, stopped in at Taste. Delicious cheese platter accompanied with a flight of beer by the fireplace. Awesome place!! will be back before we leave end of week!
