"See, now the difficult thing about this arguably great restaurant is that every time we go there we think ‘I wish my garden looked like this’. Actually, in all honesty we think ‘I wish I had a garden’. But anyway, garden envy aside, it’s hard to fault this little secret-garden spot on Kingsland Road that’s a proper crowd-pleaser of a restaurant. The food here is strictly seasonal so the menu changes regularly but you can expect things like chestnut mushroom pappardelle, swordfish, and lamb rump, as well as plenty of light bites if you want to opt for a sharing situation. Will the night end with you using distraction techniques on your sibling and legging it with the remnants of the salted caramel tart? Probably, but at least you’ll be legging it through a very lovely garden. Mind the flower pots." - heidi lauth beasley

"Madame Pigg has a secret. If that’s not the best first line of a potential detective novel, then we don’t know what is. Anyway, Madame Pigg’s secret is this: they have one of the most charming back gardens in London. There are six-person booths, foliage, and fairylights people, it’s lovely. But importantly, so is the food here. The menu changes regularly but you can expect aioli-covered snacks, a quality pasta dish, and plenty of knockout seafood. Thanks to their garden this makes for one of the best al fresco date nights in London, but it’ll work just as well for a lowkey birthday party involving a round of oysters and several glasses of rosé." - Heidi Lauth Beasley

The cocktails and the starters were very good. The mains were pretty disappointing. We had to send the steak back because it was over cooked, there were a few bad mussels in the large dish and the sea bass ‘Vietnamese vegetables’ weren’t really Vietnamese at all. The porchetta was crispy and the gravy tasty. The price of the food isn’t reflected in the quality of the final product. The service was generally friendly. I liked the garden. I was really looking forward to trying MP but have come away disappointed.

First restaurant out of lockdown and felt right. Atmosphere is fun - could be on the loud end if you’re hoping for a quiet date night. 80s music playlist made the place very lively! In the summer they have an outdoors space that isn’t obvious from the outside, would recommend making resos there instead. Food was great, except for bread which felt a little stale... and wine, glass selection wasn’t great but bottle selection seemed strong (will try next time). Service was very attentive, helpful and fun. Hope to be back!

It’s decent pub food at high end restaurant price, the discrepancy between the price you pay and the quality of the food is so far apart. Well, 3 stars for the food, 2 stars for the price value and 4 stars for service. The cocktail was £12 each (rooftop bar’s price I believe), king prawns starter was £10 which was a stretch (basic fried prawns in garlic), mine and my husband main was about £25 each but they look pretty sloppy. Honestly, the quality of the food was average and I didn’t expect to pay double the average price for a mediocre piece of steak. will not come back.

Having heard many positive things about Madame Pigg, I wanted to see what all the fuss was about. I'm pleased to report its reputation is well earned. Excellent food, best roast I've had out. The mussels and mushrooms were sublime and everyone in my group raved about the puddings. Good wine list too. Only quibble would be the time from ordering to getting food, but can offset it because it shows that the food is being prepared then and done to perfection. Would wholeheartedly recommend

Amazing food, great service, friendly staff, cute interior, clean toilet. What else can you ask for? We ordered roast chicken and lamb, also the barbecued cos (started) and cauliflower cheese as side. The chicken tastes super yummy, not just the crispy skin but also the meat itself! It’s very hard to find the places that chicken meat is so tasty (without gravy). The lamb is also very well cooked, it doesn’t smell that strong. The barbecued cos is another surprise dish, love the crispy capers, they are not salty at all but definitely give a good taste to the dish. Will definitely come back to try more food!

The food was sensational and the chef's knocked it out the park. Each dish was flawless and it's one of those menus where you want it all rather than wondering what the hell do I have. Order the mussels they were my stand out dish. The fried squid was the best I've had in a while. All the dishes tasted so fresh and with a daily changing menu you won't get bored. Go. You won't be disappointed. If you are - reassess your taste buds.

Just wanted to thank you once again Chef for the sensational Sunday lunch (& Aperol spritz 😉) it was a truly memorable and delicious experience... seriously, how do you make such spectacular Yorkshire puds? Good luck with the garden, we will see you again soon as we are greedy and want to try everything you cook!

Had a great lunch there. It opens quite late for lunch so we were the first to arrive and we had the place for ourselves for a while. The staff was super friendly, cocktails were nice and the did was delicious. Cannot recommend enough
