Madame Puffs & Thai Bistro - Review - Lincoln Square - Chicago - The Infatuation

"At this solid Lincoln Square spot, the Thai puffs prove they’re worthy of the restaurant's name. Each pastry pocket has a delicate flakiness and comes with fantastic savory fillings like peppery basil chicken or curry chicken. We’d gladly make a light on-the-go meal out of them, and add one of the sweet versions for dessert. Madame Puffs also has plenty of showier entrees—panang curry gets poured tableside next to abstract art while full tables of friends snap pictures of kao soi that suspends chopsticks in the air thanks to fried noodle engineering. But while the gravity-defying noodles and curries are solid (albeit with occasionally overcooked proteins), if you want a casual sit-down meal in the area, the puffs are the main reason to swing by. Food Rundown Puffs These stuffed pastries come with a variety of sweet and savory fillings and can be ordered to-go from the counter at the front. You can’t go wrong with any of the savory options like curry chicken with spiced potatoes, basil chicken, and shredded spicy pork. And for the sweet ones, our favorite is the pineapple—the fruity filling nicely complements the buttery shell. photo credit: John Ringor Thai Fish Cakes Our favorite non-puff appetizer. They’re soft with plenty of lemongrass flavor and come with a sweet chili sauce for a little kick. photo credit: John Ringor Kao Soi With Chicken Any time this makes its way from the kitchen to a table with its fried noodle-chopstick sculpture, a few wandering eyes and some audible “wows” will accompany it. But while the smoky and slightly sweet curry is tasty, the chicken is a bit dry. photo credit: John Ringor Panang Curry With Ribeye Their panang curry is served in a little pitcher and poured over carrots, asparagus, and a protein of choice. The rich and nutty curry is great, but gets overpowered by the marinade of the beef—which, like the chicken in the kao soi, is also a little overcooked. photo credit: John Ringor" - John Ringor

I’ve tried Thai restaurants all across the United States, and Madame Puff Chicago has truly become my new favorite. From the service to the impressive variety of Thai dishes, everything is impeccable. Their menu offers such a wide selection of authentic Thai food; the kind you would actually find back home in Thailand, and every dish is beautifully executed. The flavors are always spot on. I love changing my order every time I visit because everything is so tempting and exciting to try. Barbie, the owner, is a wonderful host; warm, generous, and genuinely welcoming. The service team, led by Toast, is equally outstanding. I honestly couldn’t recommend a better place for authentic, upscale Thai cuisine in Chicago.

From the moment you step into Madam Puffs and Thai Bistro, you're welcomed into a space that’s not only impeccably clean but also thoughtfully designed – stylish, modern, and full of warmth. Located in the heart of Lincoln Square, this gem blends elegant decor with the vibrant aromas of authentic Thai cuisine, setting the stage for an unforgettable dining experience. The food? Absolutely exceptional. Every dish was crafted with care, but the standout of the evening was the red snapper – perfectly cooked, delicately seasoned, and plated with precision. It was the kind of dish you find yourself thinking about long after the meal is over. Service here is just as impressive as the food. The staff was friendly, attentive, and clearly passionate about both hospitality and the food they serve. It's rare to find a place where the attention to detail shines through in every aspect – from the temperature of the plates to the timing of each course. Whether you're a longtime lover of Thai cuisine or a curious newcomer, Madam Puffs and Thai Bistro delivers a refined yet welcoming experience. With its combination of extraordinary flavors, polished service, and a beautiful atmosphere, it’s easily one of Lincoln Square’s most delightful dining destinations.

Amazing byob restaurant with great food and a wonderful staff. They had live music that was entertaining and not overwhelming. The food was delicious and each plate was a work of art. Tom yum soup was the best I ever had. Blue rice was very unique and added to the presentation. Khao kha moo was on the special menu and was my favorite dish. Wonderful experience from start to finish. Will definitely be back again soon.

Came for a quick lunch but ended up ordering a whole table. Simply can’t resist to try everything. Our server was very attentive and patient and gave us recommendations since it was my first time here. I highly recommend the papaya salad it was almost addictive. I love how the restaurant was decorated and smelled good everywhere even in the bathroom.

As soon as I walked into the restaurant, the beautiful interior took my breath away. Soon to behold, I was amazed by the quality, taste and presentation of all the dishes I had. While the setting, food quality and service were all top notch, the food was not overpriced and is at a very approachable level. Do yourself a favor, and please check out Madame Puffs and Thai Bistro!

I’ve been searching for authentic Thai flavors, and one day I finally had the chance to try this restaurant. I have to say, every dish was absolutely impressive — it was truly the best dining experience I’ve had in Chicago. From the atmosphere and décor to the customer service, everything left a lasting impression. I promised myself that if someone I love or a close friend comes to visit Chicago, this will definitely be the place I take them.

The ambiance and plate settings were phenomenal. The food was probably the best Thai food I’ve had in Chicago. The plating of the food was beautiful and tasted amazing. I was really impressed. The live jazz music is the best. I will definitely come back again to taste other dishes :)
