I hosted my 26th birthday at Madame X last night and it was such a great experience! The space was perfect for our group and the energy all night was exactly what I wanted. The bartenders were amazing, drinks were great and they were so attentive the entire time. My friends had the best time!! Thank you to the whole team for making it so easy and fun. I’d definitely host here again!🩷

I threw my 30th birthday party in the upstairs Boudois Lounge and it was the absolute best time! An amazing space, and the staff couldn't have been more accommodating to my party! Alex the General Manager was so communicative throughout the entire planning process and made throwing this event so much easier. Bartender Helen was amazing too-- Aquarius king! Also the music from the DJ was absolutely perfect for dancing, such a great mix. Would absolutely throw another party here and highly highly recommend for anyone looking for a venue!!

Love coming to Madam X. This is my third time here. Been here twice for book club and one time for karaoke the Hamilton one and it was amazing. The vibes are always amazing. The staff if so sweet and the drinks are really great

Alex and Amy were AMAZING helping me plan my birthday party at Madame X - very communicative, kind, and extremely organized. Also, Alex was able to fulfill my last-minute request to find a burlesque dancer to perform for my table, and I could not have been more happy the night of my birthday. I seriously recommend booking at Madame X for any event, you will be well taken care of. I found photos of Madame X online and immediately knew it was the perfect spot to celebrate my 21st, and it lived up to my expectations! From the start, Alex was incredible. She made the entire process of setting up my reservation so easy and enjoyable, and she was beyond kind and accommodating every step of the way. The venue itself is amazing, it's intimate, and full of personality. It was the perfect atmosphere for a night of celebration with friends. Every single staff member I interacted with was so friendly, which made the experience even better. If you’re looking for a place to celebrate a special occasion, have a night out, or just enjoy great drinks in a cool setting, Madame X is the place to go. I can’t recommend it enough. You’re guaranteed to have a great time here!

I booked this space for a video shoot in October, and the experience was truly AMAZING from start to finish. Communication was EXCELLENT, and Alex was an absolute STANDOUT — incredibly responsive, kind, and genuinely invested in making sure everything went smoothly. I was able to view the space ahead of time, and they worked closely with me to ensure I was comfortable with the lighting, layout, and creative flow. The team was extremely accommodating and clearly passionate about supporting artists and creatives, which made the experience even better. I would HIGHLY RECOMMEND this space and would definitely book again! Thank you!

Love this place! Really great to go with a group as it has a lot of plush seating and space. Doesn't really get packed before 10. Great ambiance and music.

Great news! Madame X Is closing! After 69 years in existence, Greenwich village's last whorehouse is closing its doors for good. The owner, Amy Chokesondick, a well known prostitute, let one too many lads inside of her on her quest to beat Wilt Chamberlain for most sexual partners taken in a lifetime, and suffered a ruptured sphincter and sadly passed away on the premises. The bar cannot continue without her and is now closing for good. She was known for being on the Epstein flight logs as well as running a secret mosque in the bar's basement, among other pursuits. She will be greatly missed. And the bar, which is known as the grossest most pathetic sh!thole in Manhattan, will be missed by few and mourned by many. Farewell, Madame, I enjoyed my time inside of you.

Day and time : Friday 9pm I couldn't help but stop by for a drink at this bar as it brought back wonderful memories of my college days when my friends and I used to frequent the bars in the neighborhood, this one included . I barely remember how it looks inside. It has a sexy vibe with knowledgeable bartenders/ mixologists making some delicious concoctions. I can see from the bar the back area which has nice cushioned chaise / chairs. There might have been a show, event as I saw a bunch of people in groups go in the back . Glad to see this place is still around .

Stopped by here for happy hour (which goes until 9!?), And so glad we did! The bartender, Allie, was friendly and served us up quick drinks. We had dinner reservations around the corner or else we would've stayed for another round. The decor was fun too. Looked like they have music (DJ) on the weekends, so will stop by some time to check that out too.

Was randomly invited here tonight (Thursday), by this woman I recently met but knew nothing about. She told me she was working and said I should come down for drinks and to dance. Kept asking her what she does and she wouldn't answer. Said I was out with friends and she told me to bring them. Thought maybe she had some girlfriends there. Finally made my way down and the place appeared closed. She told me to mention someone named Sasha to the security guard in front. She also told me she goes by a different name at work. At that moment I knew something was up. Security guard lets me in and when I walked into the place there were many women dressed like strippers. The women at the door said it's a 40$ cover. Didn't have much cash as I use my card all the time. The woman I was meeting, "Monika", came and met me at the front and told me to get cash at the atm around the corner. I asked her what was going on there and what she wanted to do. She said there are lots of pretty girls there who would give me a lap dance for $20 a song and she and I could drink at the same time. Clearly these were strippers just trying to make money off of anyone they could get to come there whether it be through lap dances or from the drinks, they get you to buy them! This place is a freaking joke! Luckily I didn't get suckered more than an Uber downtown. Luckily met some friends at a real bar and had a good evening in the end! Forget this wanna be strip club! Just a trashy place with sleazy women!

Attended a private function at Madame X's (upper level). As I deliberately don't do stoosh/stush well, I left those "wannabes" and made my way downstairs to the general floor and THAT'S when things started making sense to me. Haha. Madame X isn't unusual to neighbouring spots but the patrons in attendance that night made it seem like it was the only spot on that stretch. We really had a good time! Music is super eclectic from Jamaica, Rio to Spain, Goa you name it they played it. We kept time with each challenge their DJ presented. There's a super chill back area and though it's outdoors and with the winter wind still in the air it didn't bother me because I was kept warm by the strategically placed heaters. My cheap arse 'droid doesn't do well in dark spots so I was unable to do justice to their beautiful and provocative artwork. Hell yeah I'd be back if the opportunity presented itself! The End.

3.5 stars. We spent Saturday night at Madame X at our friend's party; they rented the second floor for the night for ~50 people. While the second floor had several different sitting areas and alcoves to hang out in, there was very limited space for dancing and the area by the bar was very narrow. I don't think Madame X has a food menu, so they let our party hosts bring in food from outside. Overall, I think this is a good place to have a private party with friends, but the dark red district vibe on a regular night out isn't really my thing.

Great staff, had a great Halloween night here. They were packed! But I was still able to get my drinks in hand.

Madame X's design and ambiance reminds me of a red light district whore house in Amsterdam. That's exactly what we were going for to celebrate my friend's last weekend as a bachelorette! I researched lounges in the area with sultry and sexy vibes to celebrate the occasion and all yelp roads led me to Madame X. We fell in love with the design of this place. Ultra plush vintage sofas, lamps, drapes.... and Village-Esque low key vibes. We booked a reservation for a table so that we could relax our tired feet after dancing. We arrived a little after our reservation time and the woman I spoke to was very kind and accommodating. We collectively split the table rental of $100. We arrived and the bouncer was very attractive and kind. We met with Kaina the bartender who led us to our table. Our couch was a little sunken so we switched to the crush velvet red vintage one. The art work here was super cool and sexy. Loved it. There was also a backyard patio garden. The DJ was great! I felt that he played a nice collection of 90's classics. My friend knew all the lyrics and it was like a blast back to our college days ! We enjoyed that. There was no dance floor so that kinda sucked but we knew it was a lounge and made use of the space around our couch. The only things this place is missing is more straight bachelors and a dance floor.

Madame X is a down to earth spot to grab drinks with friends. I was looking for a lounge in the city where I can host 30 people on a Saturday night without breaking the bank and after an absurd amount of research I stumbled upon Madame X. I love the fact that the manager/owner is accessible and I can speak with her over the phone/text when making a reservation. My reservation was for 4 hours (9pm to 1am), it only cost me $100 and I ended up having the an entire section for my group. Our section was big enough to seat 12 to 14 people. A lot of red decor, nothing fancy, but definitely gives a chill vibe. From what I remember (my friends kept buying me drinks) the music was a blend of 2000's rap, contemporary afrobeats, and some 70's/80's r'n'b. I just remember it was a solid mix of urban music. My friends seemed to enjoy this spot and the music. The only caveat is they don't serve food, but you can bring your own as long as you clean up after yourself and pay a deposit in case you make a big mess. They have an upstairs area, which I didn't have a chance to peep and modest backyard area. If you don't want to deal with long lines, pretentious door policies, but want to hear some good 'old school' rap/r'n'b music (I just can't believe 2000's is considered old school now, but it is) and smoke hookah then hit up this spot.

We were invited to a party where 45 guests were supposed to attend. I think my friend expected to have a private space because at the last minute sent an email saying that we would be sharing the space. What an understatement that was! In one room there were 3 different "sections" which consisted of 4 couches and a couple of small padded stools and two small coffee tables. Clearly this was set up to be intimate. This was not! The place was packed with very loud music and couldn't hear each other talk. I must say that the music was really good and would have been great for a dance party, but the place is not set up for that. I understand that the venue is really inexpensive to rent but buyer beware.

Came here for a private birthday party. It's a very burlesque-y bar with private couch areas in the back. Be prepared because their drinks are STRONG!

My best friend & I celebrated our 29th birthday here! Amy, the event planner, helped us plan our party every step of the way. She was very kind, patient & accommodating. We had a great turn out! The only con was the music. But once you have a few drinks the music doesn't matter lol #ROARINGTWENTYFINE

Absolutely LOVE this place. Recently threw my birthday party here and Amy was a delight to work with along the way. My only regret is not confirming how much of the back room I was renting (or what part of it...we were kind of sandwiched between two other parties that kept trying to use our space but for the price it was still a great deal!). I also wish that the music had been a little more...either appropriately themed to the bar or main stream (most of what was played was Latin music which was totally fine but I would have liked to have heard a few more recognizable top 40 songs). But other than that, the place is gorgeous, great for a group, and not outrageously expensive. We had a great night and I can't wait to come back whether for a celebration or just a night out!

Love the vibe and the music here! Very speakeasy-like and intimate. It's great for parties and I love that the seating is velvet! The drinks were watered down and not mixed well in my opinion but it's a great place for after work meetups or weekend hangouts.

It was my first time and last time at the place . I went with my wife , we sat down and we didn't get anyone to come for at least 13 minutes to give us menus. The waitress was very rude , when asked about a recommendation her response was "READ THE MENU", then before we even order she asked some for my ID and Credit card which was weird.

The bartenders are phenomenal! I'm a lightweight, so one delicious cocktail lasted hours for me. I also loved the retro, boudoir vibe. We had the whole second floor for an event, so plenty of room to mingle, but also comfy, intimate seating for hanging out and chatting.

Just threw a milestone birthday here in the upstairs space and oh.em.gee , perfection. I'm a little afraid to write this review because I don't want everyone to know about this perfect little gem buttttt they totally deserve to be shouted out. I was in touch with Amy, the owner from the beginning, and she showed me the space, answered my millions of questions via text leading up to the day, and connected me to the DJ. Shout out to DJ Lloyd because the music was fireeeee all night. On the day of the party, Alex was our bartender (another incredible guy, who also DJs! If you come on a Friday, you can listen to his tunes!!) and Karen, the bar manager was helping to manage everything. This is an all star team folks. They knew exactly what I wanted and helped me make it my dream bday celebration. The party was EVERYTHING I wanted and I couldn't be happier. Everyone in my crew was asking how I found this gorgeous venue with incredible staff and I feel incredibly lucky that I did!! If you're looking to grab a few drinks at any time, Madame X is a must visit and if you're planning a birthday and want a private space, it's even more of a must visit! I can't here on Thursday night. The vibe gave me intimacy but still fun. The upstairs was close for a private party. I love how the entire first floor has this older red furniture surrounded by red lights. I do not know who was playing the music because there was no dj, but they did their thing and the music was on point. The ambiance can be for a group and our a romantic date. This is place you come on weekdays when you want to be hidden from the crowded bars! I will come again! The lighting was great because I captured a great video showing my Fanny pack from @7Tunnelvision!

I was here for a perfume launch a few months ago and they were very friendly and accommodating to us and the guests. Everyone had a great time. It was dimly lit so taking pictures will require your cell phone camera flash "on" if you're not using a professional photographer. I have nothing but, praise for this cosy little spot and will definitely visit again.

Tried to do the simple task of ordering a drink last night. The act of getting a drink turned out a bit harder than I imagined! Waited 20 minutes for someone to notice me, then gave the guy my order, he nodded and then proceeded to never make it. Went around making everyone else's drinks. When he came back I said "excuse me", he cut me off before I could continue my sentence by nodding and pointing at me and then leaving. Never got the drink and decided to leave. Strange feeling to have a bar actively not wanting more money!

I'm such a fan of this lovely unique place. The venue is as red light sexy as you can get in the city. The music is alway lit the minute you walk in the staff is so welcoming. Which is a hard thing to do especially when you see them bombarded with guests all at once with drink orders. They were cool as cucumbers which I respect. The entertainment is too notch too. They entertain guests and private parties alike with some of the best nightlife entertainers in the city. This is a great place to have your next private event or an evening of drinks and dancing.

After drinking in the area we wanted to check some place out that at least had music playing & we could dance a friend mentioned this place so we decided to stop by. Comfy couch seating is a bit dangerous I can only imagine how many knock out here loll. Drinks I had a Chimay beer not bad nice & cold my friends had some Jameson & ginger ale & jack & coke not bad. Good music playing but not enough room to dance downstairs we ended up making our way upstairs since it was easier to dance here. Plenty of space to sit below more for lounging than dancing upstairs u have another bar some seating & a little more open space to dance. Dimly lit spot makes u feel like u r in the red light district, service was good prices are decent we enjoyed our time here good chill place.

This place is so cool! First of all, $6 happy hour drinks that taste good and pack a punch. The atmosphere really takes you inside a Moulin Rouge decor type of situation. The bartenders are friendly and the whole place was clean (even the bathroom). This place will defintiely provide you with some awesome Instagram pictures and Snapchat videos.

I've visited Madame X on multiple occasions and the place is soooo trendy, fun, and accepting. The staff is incredibly friendly and make some of the best cocktails. Our bartender was a tall girl and she encouraged us to come back, which we certainly we be doing!!

I'm not going to lie to you, I've been here a few times and have never gone to a show. I typically meet girlfriends here before we roll out somewhere else or when I just want a quick one in a cute bar. This bar is for the freaks and geeks who don't fit in and don't want to, so basically the best people. To me, it's the perfect theme-dive bar. I also feel they'd let you flirt with the limits of the law here. They've got a standard stocked bar, the house wine isn't bad and there are apparently incredible shows in the venue. I just love the seating, the lighting and the fact that there is a full on smoking garden in the back where you can shit talk with your girlfriends while shotgunning Misty Menthol 120s. Madam's got 2 bathrooms conveniently located and plenty of relaxed low seating for good conversation. It seems every time I stop in they're filming a new music video or a short film or there's a dinner theatre tour coming through. It's a popular spot and aesthetically that makes super sense. The bartenders are typically middle of the road for me save for one guy who was phenomenal a year-ish ago. Definitely can find some great spots for your insta here. I'd give it a 7/10 on the ability to make good content for the 'gram here. Enjoy!

What an amazing venue. I was here for a private event on the second floor and the bartending service was on top of everything, very friendly and attentive. The Decour is very sexy with dark velvet drapes everywhere and they have really nice cocktails.

This place was okay until I ordered a drink. The bartender was completely rude. I asked for a vodka club with a splash of pineapple. When I received my drink I didn't taste any pineapple so all I said was hey, sorry there's no pineapple, to which she responded WELL THEN YOU SHOULDN'T HAVE ASKED FOR A "SPLASH" It was unnecessary. I wasn't trying to be rude, she could have charged me more for it for all I cared. Her attitude was uncalled for therefore I will never be coming back to this establishment. Don't waste your time it's a practically a basement with red lights. I felt like a call girl when I was there.

If I could I wouldn't even rate this place any stars. One of the staff members (tall lady) HIT my friend multiple times and kicked her out after she tried to bring her drink downstairs (there are two floors). When I told the lady to calm down and we would leave because we didn't know that we could walk around with drinks, she shoved my friend until she fell over and I was so worried because she could have rolled down the stairs, so I grabbed onto her but she pushed me away and continued to push her down the stairs. This was the worst experience of my life and I will never be coming to this bar again. We will definitely be filing a report about this, it was so unacceptable and unprofessional.

SUCH a great place! The drinks are AMAZING. Fresh juice, custom cocktails are a delight. The decor is fun and comfy with a variety of vintage sofas and sexy artwork all around. GREAT music, lovely service. A truly fantastic experience. Me and my friends had so much fun here. Can't wait to go back!

Attended a private birthday party in the upstairs area. Upon arriving I had to provide the bouncers with a secret password- pretty cool. A woman then showed up to escort me to a hidden door that led to the upstairs area. Very sexy atmosphere, red lighting, velvet couches, hidden loft seating. Bar tenders were very attentive and handling the crowd like pros. If you are looking for an event space this is a great option.

I hope you can open back up again soon! I miss your back yard and happy hour. And one of the few places you can get a great drink at a good place and also smoke on the back deck. Miss it.

Madame X was a great experience. Came on a Tuesday after 1130pm & stayed until closing. Jazz music was playing, dim lights setting the mood, and decent drinks. I would come again for the mood & ambiance. Drinks were strong enough, just not up to my taste. The bartender sets the mood by selecting the music and evey night is different. Typically Thursday to Saturday is a DJ. Great place for a date. Great place to hang out and vibe UPDATE: meant to give 5 stars!

A few years back I stopped by this place and will never forget it. This review is long overdue. I had my card with the bartender and then started speaking with two guys. The guys said they were going to the bar to order beers and come back. No problem. I saw them at the bar laughing and looking at me. Upon return they told me the bartender charged the drinks to my card. What? I don't know these guys from a hole in the wall and even if I did, shouldn't they pay their own way? I went to the bartender to complain who did not help me; said that was the card for the group. At a distance I saw a lady who looked exactly like Morticia Addams from the Addams family, kid you not, although the one in Madam X wasn't as pretty. She was staring at me with arms folded. What did I do? My feeling is she knew the situation and was telling me in so many words not to dare complain. I felt she was the owner (just seemed like it) but who knows. I see there is an Amy business owner writing to people here. Maybe that is her but anyway, those guys got away with me treating a round? Oh and make no mistake, I was paying my own way there the entire evening. There is no way I owed them a round. We all walked out together. They were overjoyed. I said goodnight. They asked if they can get me a cab and I said I take the train. To their surprise, I wasn't miss money bags as they thought. I just think the management there is horrifying and I will remember this story for as long as I live. There is no way the business owner can write back to this. It happened a few years back already but for some reason it's coming to light for me now. I remember it as clear as day. The only nice thing about this place is the décor. The drinks were subpar and so was the clientele. This venue is on Houston not to be confused with the classiness of The Village or Soho. Response to owner's message: OK, then that did happen and I was correct how I felt at that time. I see you wrote nothing saying otherwise, instead making this review my fault because the timing with world events isn't appropriate. Got it.

This was the last stop for our murder mystery and I would absolutely come here again during open hours. The red interior and furniture creates a flapper girls era ambience so dressing up to come here would be fun! The wait service is a tad slow though.

Super chilled, dope music and kinda peaceful for a bar maybe bc I was sitting outside. I would definitely come back, next time with a bigger group!
