First time eating Somali food, it was different in a good way.
I ordered the "KK with Chicken Steak". The meal started off with a small cup of soup, which was very savory, made from goat meat drippings, had a vegetable (leek?) of some sort, and seasoned with what I guess to be oregano and curry. Rich, savory and satisfying.
The KK with Chicken Steak was tasty... seasoned with curry, onion and a little green pepper. I was given two types of hot sauce, both had a moderate amount of heat with a citrusy edge. The hotter of the two added a depth to the KK that I didn't expect.
The portions are large, almost enough for two people. The food is fresh, so don't expect to get in and out in 30 minutes.
I will definitely go back, there were a few meals on the menu that I want to try.
If you're in the area and want to try something different, I recommend you give Madina a try.
