This restaurant is always bursting at the seams, and having been now, I can see why! Offering casual but elevated brunch options, Madre's is where Long Beach Taco Company used to be. Capture your cutesy IG photos in the newly remodeled interior, or enjoy al fresco dining on the patio (currently covered for the winter months).
First, I had the iced horchata latte (whole milk), which was well-balanced and not too sweet. One of my friends ordered a hot latte with oat milk and it had hints of hazelnut without being too overwhelming. I can't wait to try the cafe olla the next time I come.
For me, the test of a good restaurant usually comes in the form of a classic dish such as huevos rancheros, and Madre's did not disappoint. I personally felt the salsa roja was a smidge salty, but worked great with the jamón (ham) and sunny side up eggs. It comes with a small baked potato sprinkled with crunchy bacon and grilled cheese.
One of my friends had the chilaquiles verde, which was the right amount of crispy and decadent. Our other friend ordered the churro French toast - absolutely divine with the creamy center and is good even without syrup. It's also enormous, so come hungry!
Roxana was our server and she graciously tackled all the questions my friends and I had about the menu, substitutions, etc. She also pointed out their rotating monthly menu, which you can find by scanning a QR code. She was attentive, kind, and cheerful - the cherry on top to a great brunch!
