6 Great To-Go Cocktail Spots, Since Bars Have Closed (Again) - Los Angeles - The Infatuation

"If you like mezcal, you’ll love Madre. This Oaxacan restaurant with locations in Torrance and Pams has the best mezcal selection in town, along with some killer classic cocktails like palomas, smokey margaritas, and seasonal fresh fruit margaritas (like guava and prickly pear). They’ve also got to-go mezcal flights, limited-release bottles, and a great selection of Valle de Guadalupe wines. Delivery or pick-up available." - brett keating

Wow, what an absolute gem of a neighborhood spot! Madres Brunch Bellflower is pure food heaven. The hash browns are next-level with gooey cheese baked right in, the sausage is cooked to perfection, and don’t even get me started on the brioche garlic bread—it’s unforgettable. Portions are huge and totally satisfying. You have to try the iced coffee with breakfast—it’s unbeatable! Big shoutout to Erica, Maria, and Estevan for making the experience even better with their amazing service. Seriously, if you haven’t tried this place yet, run, don’t walk. Madres Brunch is hands-down one of the best breakfast spots around!

Google
10/10 recommended if you’re a true brunch lover and love both the sweet & salty taste! French toast was bomb & very filling. Mimosas were mimosing & the omelette was to die for 😍 shout out to waiter Kevin!

Google
This place is a gem! Our server Keven took care of us. The wait is about 30 minutes but totally worth it. The portions are great & the prices are reasonable. The Journey pancakes are a MUST.

Letty M.

Google
The chilaquiles con mole and rojo was delicious, the house coffee is also made flesh just perfect for a person that loves hot coffee, they have a variety of Mexican traditional chilaquiles, I personally will come back.

Kevin is a great host! Thoroughly enjoyed my meal and drinks and i'm not even done yet! 10/10 would recommend

Google
Had a great experience at Madres Brunch. We ordered an iced coffee and it wasn’t quite what we expected, but Ruben & Kevin immediately offered us another drink and made sure we didn’t feel pressured to drink it. We truly felt heard and taken care of, which made us enjoy the rest of our visit even more. The food was amazing as well. Great customer service and great food—will definitely be back!

Google
Great drinks and service. There was a lil mishap but staff made sure that didn't ruin my experience. 2nd time coming here and I will def be coming back again... yuuummmyyy Update: been coming here again and again. Never dissapoints

Google
The food was very good. One person had to flag staff down because she ordered a dish which included chicken, there was no chicken in the dish. However, a side of chicken was provided, we wish sauce was also supplied. Once our food arrived to the table, we saw our waitress once. She disappeared, we needed water, napkins. But like I said other than the mishap with the chicken mole the food was great. There was a wait of an hour. Shame on me for having a May 10th birthday. Take it from me this place is worth the wait Parking is a challenge There is a parking lot and street parking, wear comfortable shoes.

Yelp
Food was absolutely delicious, presentation was beautiful, and our waiter Tadeo was amazing! This place really made it to my top favorite in the first visit!

Yelp
This was my first time at Madres Brunch and it was a vibe. The food was delicious and our server Kevin was a blast. Definitely coming back!

Yelp
Great experience, first time here and me and my girlfriends enjoyed it very much. Food was great aswell as the service. Parking area is a bit small but other than that all was very good.

Yelp
3.5 stars. The phood photographs phantastically, but sad to say that the outside doesn't match the inside. Have you ever met someone who looks really put together on the outside only to get a "taste" of them & the inside and outside just don't match? Well. That was my experience with Madre's. The food looks much better than it tastes but whoever designed the food did a stellar job. If you don't have a picky palate and you are fooled by aesthetics, this place is for you, but I'm an authentic kinda gal. If you look really good on the outside, you better be just as good- if not better on the inside.

Yelp
Although I had such a fun time with my girlfriends when we went here, I'm not sure I would come back just based on what I ordered and tried at the time. I ordered the birria omelette for $20... I was expecting to be wow-ed, but it was very average tasting. The meat needed more seasoning and the consume was lukewarm. I opted for a side salad instead of beans because I was low-carb at the time, so I appreciated the substitution. I was able to try my girlfriend's chilaquiles and they were okay... I think the plating was beautiful but it needed more seasoning! If I were to come back again, I would try their pancakes because those look delicious! Wasn't ecstatic about this visit.

Yelp
Food was good. Drinks were good. Service was good everyone was very attentive. Super chill place has outside and inside seating. Red chilaquiles are a lil spicy. Would come again to try something else.

Yelp
Madres is definitely a spot worth checking out. If you're not in bellflower they have 7 other locations it looked like so you're in luck. The majority of the seating is in their patio that is open door. So in the winter definitely dress warmer. The restaurant is super clean and lively. Lots of servers and everyone is super friendly and attentive. Food wise the chilaquiles were really good! Big portion. Just wish there was more chicken. But flavor was solid. The lates were amazing and they have a big menu. They do coffees flights, mimosa flights, and margarita flights so if you're looking to get a drink it's a good spot for a weekend brunch! Overall place was solid. Would definitely come back!

Yelp
Came here for breakfast. This place is pretty good. My first time at this location. I usually go to the one in Whittier, but overall they are both the same. The service was good, and the location was maintained very well. I recommend giving this place a try if you are into Mexican style breakfast or brunch. They also, have traditional style too.

Yelp

Service: -it was sooooo packed so there was a line that we waited in. but the staff was friendly and helpful and as prompt as they could be! Yelp
Tadeo, muchas gracias por un servicio tan bonito. Gracias por ayudarnos a celebrar el cumpleaños de mi hermana. Thank you so much Tadeo for the recommendation and the great service. Thank you for making us feel at home. We will definitely be coming back.

Yelp
My son took me for my late birthday celebration . My son ordered a Mimosa Flight Special Which is green apple ,pomegranite very tastey by the way , and a Tiffany . My son ordered a mole chilaquiles with a side of birria and half way eating it it was cold. I ordered a chilaquiles verde and got chilaquiles with a red sauce with birria . We told the waitres and she asked if I wanted the chile verde , but I tried to salvage our outing by just taking it home . I have had many Hazelnut Atole but never a version watered down that tasted like a latte instead of atole. For now I was disappointed with the service and the food . Will I give it another try sometime in the future only time will tell. Sad because the place looked really nice to have brunch .

Yelp
I reviewed the wrong Madres. For this Bellfkower location... here is my review. 4 stars because they don't have real alcohol. Just wine infused drinks Madres Brunch - had a B rating at the door. Made reservations. Was sat after 20minutes of waiting. They did not have alcohol. They only had wine infused drinks. they also did not have much but pancakes and chilaquiles. The cups were dirty. We were trying to figure out why they had a B rating but I guess it may start with the water cups not being clean. We looked for something to eat worth ordering. They didn't have much to choose from so we left. We out ordered the drinks. Parking was horrendous. The staff was nice. But it was hard to pay our bill to leave. They just weren't attentive.

Yelp
I stopped by Madres on a random weekday shortly after they opened. It was our first time here so we were curious to see if it were a place we can add to our list of brunch spots. Was it the best brunch I've ever had? No...but I think it was a solid spot. I will say the servers were nice and the ambiance seems like it can get really lively. The food was slightly underwhelming with no real clear standouts. Oddly, my favorite thing was the pistachio latte. I get the vibe that this is the type of place to come drink mimosas and have a good time and less about getting delicious food. Not necessarily a bad thing depending on the situation.

Ananya N.

Yelp
The service was fast, efficient and the food still turned out delicious! The waitstaff are very kind and warm. You do have to get on the waitlist to sit for weekend brunches typically but since the service is quick and efficient, it's not as bad of a wait as one would think! I also seriously loved the horchata latte that I had before the main food items!

Yelp
Another great visit to Madres! Third trip in three weeks! This time I took my husband. It was a very busy Sunday and we were able to find street parking. We ordered one savory and one sweet dish. The Birria Omelet is one of my favorites so we ordered that. We both lived the beans too! Just amazing as always! We ordered the Pistashio Waffle for dessert. Really loved the Pistahio ice cream! Just love eating family style, highly recommend sharing! For drinks I ordered my favorite Marzipan Latte (hot). My husband ordered a Michelada and a coffee. He loved the Michelada, definitely one of the best! Very special place!

Yelp
I've been to both locations and they are both awesome. The food is very good and made with quality ingredients and their coffee selection is awesome! This will definitely be our regular go-to for breakfast from now on.

Yelp
The food was so good and the service was amazing! Would definitely come back! The atmosphere was definitely chill and welcoming and not rushed even though they got pretty busy.

Yelp
Checked out this new Mexican fusion brunch spot recently. The place has a nice atmosphere and a creative menu, but overall, the food didn't quite live up to the prices. I ordered the Omelet Al Pastor, which was okay but nothing special, definitely not worth the price tag. The Nutella French Toast sounded great on paper but turned out pretty average and also overpriced. The Madres Chilaquiles were unfortunately dry and needed a lot more flavor or sauce. Service was fine and the presentation was good, but overall, it just didn't impress me enough to go out of my way for and drive. I wouldn't drive here specifically, but if I'm ever in the area again, I might give it another try and see if the other dishes are better.

Yelp
First time here we searched for brunch with mimosas and this popped up. I loved the artwork inside and the food. I got a basic 2 eggs breakfast but it was so very good and just the right amount of food . We also got a bottle of champagne with orange juice for mimosas . I will be coming back here I want to try the mimosa and margarita flights! The service also was very good the waiter was recommending dishes for my boyfriend . Food also came out super fast and still hot! Thank you!

Yelp
Madre's Brunch came to my attention in my social media feed as they had very flashy pancakes and mimosa flights and cute decor; however, I had the opportunity to sample their chilaquiles and mimosas at a Yelp event last year and I was able to see that they had both style and substance. Their newest location is in Downtown Long Beach, but I came to this Bellflower location on a weekday to give them a visit I went with their cafe de olla, which was sweet with Mexican spice (likely cinnamon), and served black. I also had their chilaquiles rojo with steak, which had black beans, sour cream, and plenty of their red sauce. I thought that the chilaquiles were delicious - had good flavor and it still was a little crispy. I'd definitely like to try their chilaquiles verde or chilaquiles mole next time (especially if my wife will share it with me so that I have room for sweets). I feel that Madre's brunch is known for their sweet breakfast items and their mimosa/coffee/margarita flights and I'd definitely like to come back to try those, but I have to say that their savory items are pretty good as well! This is a really good option for breakfast in Bellflower!

Yelp
Two years after this location opened and my last visit was very disappointing, enough that I felt compelled to update this review. Friends and I recently visited the Bellflower location of Madres Brunch. One my friends did not like her iced coffee, she returned it and requested a different coffee. The second coffee was never brought to our table so she cancelled it. We ordered the rainbow pancakes and we were very disappointed not only by the flavor but by the presentation. There was no rainbow. It was a mix of colors but definitely not rainbow. The pancakes were so dry, not even the whipped cream dollops and syrup could help it. The three of us tried the rainbow pancakes and we left over half, and none of us wanted to take it to go. Our plates were delivered and we had no flatware. We sat for a few minutes and asked our server for silverware. He seemed annoyed when he brought some over. My flavored iced coffee was ok, but not as delicious as I've remembered it from the past. I think the service was the worst part. We had to continuously flag down our server and every time he seemed as if we were bothering him. Not once did he check on us on his own. Lastly, a group of women walked in and it was very obvious they were celebrating a birthday. Right before we left, four servers came over and sang happy birthday to her with a pancake that they lit aflame. I thought it was a nice touch. My friend was very upset, she said when she arrived she let staff know we would be celebrating a birthday (mine to be exact). We did not receive the same birthday service. I didn't mind, I wasn't upset. It did make me wonder why we didn't get something similar but I'm sure it was an oversight. However, I am disappointed that this brunch spot was a letdown especially after I selected it and it was my friends first time. I doubt they'll ever return to Madres Brunch and I know I'll definitely not return to the Bellflower location. Parking is ok but it does get packed on weekends. The place is spacious and well decorated. Music is a bit loud to carry on conversations. Food is ok. Service could be a lot better.

Yelp
Place is nice, does get busy and they have secret menu.. Iced horchata not super sweet, Portions are generous and can be shared for certain items. Kevin was very helpful and attentive. Will return!

Yelp
GOOD BRUNCH Long wait on Sunday. Was advised 30 minutes, but really waited 1 hour and 20 minutes. Parking was horrible. The lot was full and the surrounding neighborhood was a battleground. I ended up parking at the cvs down the street. After all that the food made it all better. The food was very well presented and delicious. We got the Benedict, pistachio pancakes ( monthly menu ) , chilaquiles verdes and a pastor omelet. I'm a sucker for pancakes and the texture was perfect. It was topped with pistachio ice cream and strawberry puree. The chilaquiles came out to be a very large portion and were shared with the rest of the party. They add eggs for 1 dollar. Everything came out instantly. I placed the order with the server and the food came out 5 minutes later. I didn't even touch my latte.

Yelp
We have dined at Madres Brunch in Placentia but this was our first visit to the Bellflower location. The parking lot isn't very big but we were lucky to grab a spot near the entrance. They have a nice covered patio out front with quite a bit of seating and a slightly smaller inside dining area. As with other locations, there are a lot of pink neon signs on the walls. At around 11am on a weekday, they were very busy but there was no wait to be seated. I haven't had an omelette in years but the Pastor omelette kept jumping out at me so I ordered that and I'm glad that I did. The egg was nice and fluffy and it had a perfect mix of pork and pineapple inside. The guacamole and green onion were nice to add to bites. She had the Chilaquiles Rojos which was delicious and the serving size was so big, she could barely eat half of it. A lot of the plates here are really visually appealing and these two were no exception. She also had the passion fruit iced tea but it was overly sweet. Service was great and everybody including multiple servers, the host, and even the busboy were all so friendly. We have never had a bad meal at any Madres Brunch and will definitely be back.

Maggy M.

Yelp
The food is delicious and very authentic! Our server Tadeo was amazing and very attentive! The ambiance is extremely beautiful w/ the pink color coordination!

Yelp
This place is the bomb.com, great atmosphere, great food, great service. The only thing that could make this meal better is a Colts win against the Rams - LETSGO COLTS! Belen is the BEST!!
google avatar

Shaquanna W.

Yelp
7/10 definitely wasn't what I expected. Maybe we ordered the wrong items but It was just mid to me ... We had the birria chilaquiles which was amazing presentation but wasn't too big on the taste .. , the muffin sandwich and potatoes was good but basic lol and last but not least the pancakes was definitely to sweet for me but had a different taste to it . The service was good the staff were friendly and very helpful . The ambiance was def giving brunch vibes and had plenty of eating space . I would like to go back and maybe try something else on the menu for a second opinion .
google avatar

Charlene M.

Yelp
More like a breakfast spot than a typical brunch but our food was delicious. Enjoyed the green chile chilaquiles and a flight of mimosas. Hubby got the Popeye omelet and kid got chicken club sammy. No wait and someone greeted us as soon as we sat. Love that. 10/10 would recommend to friends
google avatar

Graciela M.

Yelp
This place was too hyped up all over social media, but unfortunately it's not worth eating here. The Food Inspection should've been a given not to eat here. Mostly all sugar packets were soaked in god knows what. The chilaquiles were ok but honestly I wouldn't recommend. I had coffee which tasted burnt. I wouldn't came back. I would've saved myself $53 Not only that but unfortunately there were flies and mosquitoes that make it impossible to food

Natalie G.

Yelp
Great spot to eat with your girlies or to celebrate bdays but parking sucks. Plan in advance!

Paula B.

Yelp
We loved Madres Brunch. Great fun atmosphere and a mix of families and couples. Everyone enjoying the over the top brunch items such as pancakes and waffles or authentic Mexican breakfast specialties. Can't wait to return.

Stephanie S.

Yelp
The restaurant is cute, has parking, and the ambience is nice. The service, however, could be improved. There were plenty of employees, but they all seemed to be moving around without much direction. The wait time wasn't terrible, but I'm sure it could be better if everyone was actively helping--especially with things like cleaning the restrooms. The trash was overflowing, and the bathrooms needed attention. As for the food, it was just okay. Everything looked great, but the flavor was lacking. My huevos divorciados had almost no seasoning, and the only strong taste I got was the burnt flavor from the crispy tortilla. Also, the dish arrangement was a bit confusing--the refried beans were placed underneath the tostadas holding the egg and salsa, which made it tricky to eat. It might be better to place the beans on top of the tostadas or on the side ** note : I found my recipe the following day and saw the charged an extra mimosa's flight

Tracy L.

Yelp
Came on a weekday morning so the service issues people have mentioned were mimor. Food still came out very staggered but not exceedingly so. Server forgot the coffee orders. The Madres chilaquiles were awesome, as were the special Lomo Saltado chilaquiles. The French toast is ginormous. Went out on a limb and ordered the Pistachio Waffle, which tasted good but was an off putting green color.

Yelp
La comida estuvo deliciosa! Tadeo fue super amable y amigable! Me encantó su hospitalidad! Definitivamente regresare!

Casandra M.

Yelp
Went again a few days ago, they had a B rating and I usually stay away but decided to stay anyways since I loved their chilaquiles before. Ordered the coffee flight with horchata, masala, pistachio and another, it was ok, wouldn't get again. Chilaquiles rojo with steak, lacked flavor. I was so sad. Steak was warmish and hardly there and needed more flavor as well. My companion got the birria omelette and enjoyed it. Service was ok. They seat you and leave you alone until you either order or they need to drop something off, other than that you don't see them. I noticed a couple little bugs crawling on the windowsill we were seated against. It was also very dirty for being the same level as the table. I hope it was a fluke and they can fix it. But I'm not sure I'd go back. Chilaquiles was the only reason I did want to go.

Alexis G.

Yelp
It started with a phone call asking about menu items and immediately loved the customer service received by "KEVIN". I said we were on our way and sure enough we showed up asking for him. Greeted like family and seated according to availability which was fast. Ordered the green chilaquiles and added birria, also the Ensenada omelette and food was amazing to say the least. Great portions and certainly made with love. Personally I will be returning and reordering the Ensenada omelette again! For drinks we chose the mimosas ( after trying the food Ofcourse to avoid hindering the experience) and tried the variety of flavors and definitely didn't disappoint. Overall very glad I found this place, Kevin took great care of us through and through we will be back to try more of their menu items and hope to be served by him again! Thank you!

Yelp
Cute spot with great food and fantastic customer service. Got the al pastor omelet and it was ridiculously good. Shared a mimosa flight with my friend and they did the right ratio, they were pleasantly strong. Will definitely be back!

Yelp
Great food grade service. Kevin is the best waiter that all my expectations provided all of the things that I needed. I will definitely be back here again

Yelp
This restaurant is always bursting at the seams, and having been now, I can see why! Offering casual but elevated brunch options, Madre's is where Long Beach Taco Company used to be. Capture your cutesy IG photos in the newly remodeled interior, or enjoy al fresco dining on the patio (currently covered for the winter months). First, I had the iced horchata latte (whole milk), which was well-balanced and not too sweet. One of my friends ordered a hot latte with oat milk and it had hints of hazelnut without being too overwhelming. I can't wait to try the cafe olla the next time I come. For me, the test of a good restaurant usually comes in the form of a classic dish such as huevos rancheros, and Madre's did not disappoint. I personally felt the salsa roja was a smidge salty, but worked great with the jamón (ham) and sunny side up eggs. It comes with a small baked potato sprinkled with crunchy bacon and grilled cheese. One of my friends had the chilaquiles verde, which was the right amount of crispy and decadent. Our other friend ordered the churro French toast - absolutely divine with the creamy center and is good even without syrup. It's also enormous, so come hungry! Roxana was our server and she graciously tackled all the questions my friends and I had about the menu, substitutions, etc. She also pointed out their rotating monthly menu, which you can find by scanning a QR code. She was attentive, kind, and cheerful - the cherry on top to a great brunch!

Yelp
The food was alright tbh... If you get any birra items they have almost like no flavor. However is you get the pancakes with all those sugary stuff on there beware its like your eating a cup of sugar. On the good side the drinks are good i recommend the mazapán latte!!! The service was good! I loved the ambience too!!! So far i will give it 4 stars.

Briza S.

Yelp
Bit disappointed with our experience. We were seated right away and our order was taken shortly after, but the wait for our food was very long. Guests who were seated after us received their meals before we did. I also asked for water when we were first seated and didn't receive it until over an hour later when we were leaving, after having to ask a different server. Most of the food lacked flavor, though the chilaquiles were good. Overall, the customer service was poor and the food was inconsistent. Not sure I would come back.
google avatar

Izabel D.

Yelp
Great food, drinks and service! My friends and I will for sure be coming back for another girls day, it's the perfect place
google avatar

Amber A.

Yelp
Been here quite a few times w/ friends, loved ones, & family & have never left disappointed. Tip: if you want to avoid a wait come around 9am, the place gets louder + lively the later it gets! The service is great, the staff is always friendly, fast, & attentive. They seem well staffed & pretty efficient when it comes to servers, bussers, and expos. Never had a wrong order, food is always prepared to order, & the quality of the food shows - not only in taste but also presentation. Choose from any of their speciality lattes / coffees & their wide selection of brunch dishes & you won't be disappointed. I tend to repeat my order of either the Chilango or the Chilaquiles because they are bomb but have also tried various pancake & waffle flavors (all delicious). The ambiance is great, the interior is well decorated & pretty year round with seasonal decor touches around the holidays. My hard to impress brother in law even said he would definitely return ;) Keep it up Madres
google avatar

Diana C.

Yelp
Second time here...food was good but not as good the first time. The strawberry pancakes had a funny flavor, with the syrup. Funny aftertaste. The staff is very friendly and the ambiance is pleasant. Would come again but pass on the pancakes.
google avatar

Brenda G.

Yelp
I was super excited to finally give Madres Brunch a try this morning on my day off (Monday, no wait), but left disappointed about my green chilaquiles. They were super dry underneath the cheese and lacked the authentic flavor that green salsa chilaquiles should have. Super sad!!! The portion ratio and presentation was great. But it was the flavor that made the overall experience take a hit. The place is situated in a good location w/ enough self parking around the place. The aesthetics were aesthetic-ing from the cute butterflies to the lit up wall messages. Really hope I caught them on a bad day, but consistency should always be the priority!!! And while the place is cute, it's good-quality and flavorful food at each visit that makes me come back to some of my favorite places because it makes every buck worth spending!

Meleia O.

Yelp
My husband got the Sampler Toast and I got the Birria Benedict with a side of hash browns. We also ordered the Dulce de Leche Latte and the Abuelita. Everything was superb! From the friendly staff, to the timeliness of receiving our food, to the quality of the food and beverages themselves! Ambiance is very homey, lots of natural light. We definitely plan on returning, but are holding ourselves back from coming more than twice a week for our wallets sakes!!! Highly, highly recommend coming here. 10/10 from the both of us! We are aiming to try everything from the menu at least once. We constantly found ourselves looking at other tables and asking, "ooo what is that? Let's get it next time." The only con would be limited parking, but that has nothing to do with the exceptional service we received. However, it is something to note, so I'd advise to join the waitlist in advance.
