We stopped by Madrina for after-dinner drinks, and it was the perfect way to end the night. The ambiance on the patio was dreamy, the service was warm and attentive, and the cocktails? Absolutely top-tier. One of the highlights was getting to try a cocktail the bartender is still developing—such a fun, creative touch! And I can never resist whipped ricotta with honey… especially when it’s this good. Creamy, flavorful, and served with perfectly grilled bread. Everything from the presentation to the flavors felt thoughtful and elevated without being stuffy. It’s the kind of place that makes you want to linger. Highly recommend for date nights, girls’ nights, or anytime you want an experience that feels a little extra special.

I found this restaurant on social media and decided to give it a try. I've been to many Italian restaurants in this area, and this one has definitely become one of our favorites! The menu is fantastic! The arancini are delicious and the bread is spectacular! All the pastas we ordered were great, and the dessert was light and tasty. The staff is very kind; we were served by John, the manager, who was super friendly and attentive! We'll definitely be back.

Well first lets start with the atmosphere/vibe of the restaurant. It is very lowkey, and elegant. Very beautiful lights and glass everywhere. Cute modern touches as well. Let’s get into the food! It is a little pricey, BUT do not let this turn you away from a YUMMY dining experience! The oysters are BOMB! Me and my friend had to stop ourselves from getting 3 more half a dozen orders! Lol! I ordered the chicken which was also very delicious! The steak is very juicy as well! The mussels are SO good and could be an entree on it’s own! Now let’s get into the SERVICE (the best) part. We originally visited Madrina for my best friends birthday. Our server Ashanti was so awesome! She was very attentive and sweet. She interacted with the whole group, and even shared some laughs with us. She answered all the questions I had. Overall great service! We were the last group of the night! John made sure that my bestie’s birthday was extra special as he played her the happy birthday song! Which added to an already beautiful experience. It was so nice to party a little with this awesome place and it’s great employees! Thank you again Ashanti, John, and other staff members from the other night creating an unforgettable experience! We will be back! ❤️

The food is good don’t get me wrong, but definitely not worth the price point you are paying at this place. I would recommend just going over to the Hill if you are going to spend over $70 a person on Italian food. The lobster ravioli was not very good, but everything else was great. The cocktails are also pretty good. Been wanting to try this place since they opened, but probably won’t be back based on the prices.

Sad to say, I was not really that impressed. As we experienced their Happy Hour the phrase, "Lipstick on a Pig" came to mind. They tried to create an upscale look and feel with their ambiance, but the product and service fell short. I'll start off by saying, they have a good Happy Hour with vey affordable pricing on classic cocktails. I was able to enjoy three of my all-time favorites; Black Manhattan, Martini and Old Fashioned (they call theirs, Italian Fashioned). All three of them were made well and I was impressed with the glassware and stemware they were served in. My friend drank Prosecco and it was served in a fluted glass. The major disappointment was with our food order. I ordered the Calamari and it was very bland. Hardly any flavor at all. The Buttermilk Herb Dressing, really didn't help much with the taste. I was disappointed that they were mainly just small rings, just tossed into a bowl. There were really only two nice sized pieces of pure calamari. Our other food item was one of their pizzas. We choose, Finocchiona. The Fennel Salami, Tomato and Mozzarella were great toppings, but the thin limp crust made it fall short. If the pizza is going to be STL Thin crust, it needs to be crisp. We both got a good giggle, because almost at the same time we both said, could this be a frozen pizza. It just did not have that freshly made taste. Other things I liked, Linen Napkins, Hooks Under The Bar and Gender Neutral Bathroom. Sad to say, I probably will not be returning. I came, marked it off my bucket list and it is time to move on. Wish them well.

Went here on a Saturday evening for a date night with the wife. The interior was well decorated and gave a chill vibe. We ordered cocktails, and they tasted great! Compliments to the bartender. Our waiter was great and helped us with any questions we had. The food was phenomenal! I had the linguini with clams, and my wife had the off menu special, the carbonara risotto. Also highly recommend the bread service. The breads are made to order, and they were delicious. We can't wait to come back here!

The company I work for had dinner in the back room. The atmosphere of this restaurant is very cool. The staff is very friendly and professional. There is a good selection to order from on the menu, but prices are a little high. Service was very good. Food tasted ok, but not as good as I thought for the price. Not sure I would visit her again on my own dime, although it is worth trying once.

Having grown up in Webster Groves, I was excited to see a fine Italian restaurant take over CJ’s old spot. The space is beautifully decorated, with rich, red, comfortable booths that add to the inviting atmosphere. There were five of us dining, and we each ordered a different entrée after sharing the tender beef carpaccio appetizer, which was topped with peppery arugula and beautifully presented. Among the standout dishes were the Ravioli Aragosta, filled with flavorful lobster and leek in a light wine sauce, and the Pasta Raviolo, with a duck egg yolk that made the sauce creamy and rich—definitely a hit! The Pasta Amatriciana had good flavor, though we missed the crispy bits of guanciale that typically bring the dish to life. My grandson ordered the T-bone steak, and it was cooked perfectly—he didn’t leave a bite! As for the service, there was a moment that took away from the otherwise lovely evening. After ordering the carpaccio, we had mentioned that we’d like to order our entrées once the appetizer arrived. However, our server returned a bit later to take our entrée orders, and after we reiterated our preference to wait, she responded by telling me she was extremely experienced, a James Beard nominee, and knew how to serve her clients. While I appreciate her experience, the comment felt unnecessary and left me feeling a bit admonished and uncomfortable. I was pretty quiet for the rest of the evening, which is unfortunate given how much I was looking forward to the meal.

Yelp
Went for the first time recently. Chef Tim Adams has created a wonderful menu and everything we tried was delicious. The service was attentive but didn't feel rushed.

Yelp
The ambiance was classy, warm and inviting. Loved it. We wanted a jammy and complex wine. Had the Scouts Honor. It was precisely what we wanted. Food was amazing. Started with the Calamari. Perfect! I had the Amatriciana Pasta. Loved the heat and savory combination. Jeff had a Fileto and he was pleased. Don't miss out on the Bread Plate. Our waiter was entertaining and on point. Service was perfection.

Yelp
We went on a date night to Madrina. We made reservations prior to coming for an early dinner. Ambiance was nice with an upscale modern feel. The bar looked like a great spot for happy hour or just drinks. Staff were friendly and attentive. Our server was helpful with choosing dishes. Unfortunately, we were not impressed with the food. I had the Gamberetto alla Mostarda and my husband ordered the Maiale. Neither of us really enjoyed our meal, especially for the price point. If we return, we will try happy hour and try bar seating.

Yelp
Great place for date night or large group. Drinks were excellent and well-made. They have a great wine selection. And the food was delicious. We ended up ordering way more than we could eat and had to take a lot of food back home. But worth coming and trying different things. The service was what I would call fake professional. They were trying to sound nice and welcoming, but it really came off as forced.

Yelp
We enjoyed happy hour at the bar at Madrina for a little girls night. The service at the bar was impeccable, they were so attentive and nice. We were specifically convinced to do happy hour because of the pizzas and spritzes on the menu! The overall vibe of this restaurant is very high end and nice. Great date night spot for sure. It felt intimate and had lots of big and nice windows. The arancini was very good, I loved the marinara sauce. They had very cute dishes and glassware as well!

Yelp
This was something that has become hard to find. Upscale restaurant that the food, service, and location justify pricing! Dark old school interior vibe. Good menu selections and great service. Will be back!

Yelp
At first, I wasn't all that impressed but the place was super new. We gave it a few more months for the place to work its kinks out. Lo and behold, our most recent visit ended on a high note as far as the food, the service, and the atmosphere. *chef's kiss all over* Our recent visit in November was on a Friday night. It wasn't super busy when we got in but as the night progressed, we started noticing that the place was quickly filling up. On that note, if dining here over the weekend, you should probably make reservations. We started with some misto fritto - lightly battered crispy shrimp, calamari, artichokes, and fennel served with Buttermilk herb dressing. The serving was huge and the flavor did not disappoint. Needless to say, it was a fabulous start to our dinner. I ended up ordering the prime ribeye during this meal and it was fantastic. I clearly over-ordered but the leftover was just as tasty the next day! Then I had some cannoli to end the dinner with. The rest of our meal went really well and the service was fabulous. What I've had during my other visit - Mayfair salad with prosciutto and Mayfair dressing was lovely and had so much flavor. Linguini con vognole - I generally like pasta with clam but wasn't sure about this one. It wasn't bad but not my favorite. Tiramisu was divine and a great way to end your evening, no question! Because of how impressed I was with my most recent experience here, I have to give it 5 stars. It truly was wonderful and the food was excellent. If you've never been, you should give Madrina try! It is a fantastic addition to the Webster dining scene. I can't wait to go back and enjoy their other menu options.

Yelp
Came to Madrina for our anniversary. Sat at the bar to order appetizers to split as a meal and order a few drinks. I had an aperol spritz, my new favorite drink, and my husband had the lemoncello spritz. We ordered the margherita pizza, the porcetta sliders and the calamari. The porcetta sliders were okay. They weren't bad just weren't memorable either. The margherita pizza was good. We've had their previous version of their pizza before when they used to make them on flatbreads and much prefer this version. The calamari was really good. We got a side of red sauce since the white sauce doesn't always agree with my husband. He said getting the red sauce was a 'game changer'. Overall we had a nice night, good food and good service.

Yelp
You can't miss out on Madrina's happy hour! Calabrian chili oyster give just the right amount of heat. The mushroom pizza has the perfect crunch on bottom the bottom of the crust without being burnt and the variety of mushrooms steps it up a notch. The Madrina-tini is the best martini I've had in STL! Come see why the got a James Beard beverage service nomination. Shout out to Alisha Blackwell-Calvert, job well done! The service was incredible and the ambiance is great for friends or a nice family dinner. The bar fills up quickly so get there early and enjoy!

Yelp
Finally got a chance to check out this restaurant! Coming in the door, it was surprisingly bigger than what I thought! I went on Christmas Eve so the restaurant was extremely festive which is what I like for a Christmas Eve dinner! It was plenty of seating and was appropriately spaced out. The bar was in the middle of the restaurant...and I normally take that as a sign that the drinks are good! Lol. The wait staff was extremely attentive from the start. My water glass never got empty! The food was absolutely AMAZING! I started with grilled oysters that was so good I almost ate the shell! For dinner I got the Pollo Marsala with Brussels sprouts and fingerling potatoes...all very tasty! The check was literally falling off the bone! I also tried their espresso martini flight which is probably the best deal you can get! The amount of drink in the cocktail for flights was extremely satisfying. I loved that they all were unique but still very much an espresso martini. Unfortunately the dessert menu was underwhelming so I opted out. But that didn't even factor into my overall experience! I will be back!!!

Yelp
We made a reservation on a Friday for dinner with friends! We parked in Webster Groves parking garage behind building, very close! Our table wasn't ready, but we are glad we waited for the comfy red seats, there is also a friendly bar to get drinks prior! Love the vibe and decor! Waitress was very accommodating, knowledgeable and helpful with menu! We got several apps for the table; the whipped ricotta, misto fritto & Brussel sprouts! I got the CRÊPE MANICOTTI as my main dish and it was so good!! We would recommend

Yelp
Madrina is a great addition to Webster Groves. Well rounded drink and food menus. Service is everything you would expect at an upscale restaurant. Favorite? The espresso martini flight

Yelp
Ah, Madrina in Maplewood! What a delightful spot. Allow me to weave together a review that captures the essence of this gem: Madrina: Where Culinary Magic Meets Warm Hospitality Atmosphere and Space: Madrina strikes that perfect balance between cozy and chic. The bar space, while not sprawling, exudes an intimate charm. Picture dimly lit pendant lamps casting a warm glow over the polished wooden counter. It's the kind of place where you can lean in for an engaging conversation or simply savor your drink while people-watching. Not too big, not too small--just right. Dining Vibes: Casual or Fancy? Why Not Both? Whether you're donning your favorite jeans or dressing up for a special occasion, Madrina welcomes you with open arms. It's that rare gem where you can have a laid-back evening with friends or impress a date with your impeccable taste. The ambiance adapts seamlessly to your mood, making it equally suitable for both casual catch-ups and romantic tête-à-têtes. The Raviolo: A Revelation Now, let's talk about the food. The raviolo--a singular, plump pasta pillow--is a revelation. Imagine delicate pasta sheets enfolding a rich filling (perhaps ricotta and spinach?) bathed in a velvety sauce. Each bite feels like a secret whispered by an Italian nonna. Trust me, it's a must-get item. Cocktails That Dance on Your Palate: The Madrina #1 Dirty Martini Ah, the cocktails! Madrina doesn't play around. Their mixologists are like alchemists, transforming spirits into liquid poetry. And the Madrina #1 Dirty Martini? It's my personal favorite too. Picture a briny symphony of gin, vermouth, and olive brine, garnished with a plump green olive. Sip it slowly; let the flavors waltz across your taste buds. Lambrusco for the Sweet Palate For those with a penchant for sweetness, fear not! Madrina has you covered. Their inclusion of Lambrusco--a fizzy, ruby-red Italian wine--speaks to their thoughtful curation. It's like sipping joy in a glass, perfect for celebrating life's little victories or just because it's Tuesday. ‍ The Chef's Special Encore: Duck Foie Gras Extravaganza Now, here's where Madrina truly shines. When your favorite dish mysteriously vanishes from the menu, the chef steps in like a culinary superhero. Case in point: that unforgettable duck foie gras creation. Imagine buttery, melt-in-your-mouth richness, elevated by the chef's creativity. It's the kind of dish that lingers in your memory, leaving you hoping they'll add it permanently. Fingers crossed! Happy Hour Bliss: Sunday-Friday, 4-6 PM And finally, the icing on the cake: Madrina's happy hour. Those golden hours between 4 and 6 PM, Sunday through Friday, when time slows down, and laughter fills the air. Whether you're unwinding after work or starting your evening, take advantage of it. Sip a cocktail, nibble on something delectable, and let the world fade away. In summary, Madrina isn't just a restaurant; it's an experience--a tapestry woven from flavors, warmth, and genuine hospitality. I can practically hear the clinking of glasses and the hum of contented conversations. So, dear reader, go forth, explore, and let Madrina cast its spell on you. Now, if only I could teleport there for dinner myself! Bon appétit! Is there anything else you'd like to chat about? Maybe another restaurant recommendation or a different topic entirely? : Madrina Restaurant : Lambrusco Wine : Duck Foie Gras : Personal musings of an AI food enthusiast (not really, but let's pretend!).

Yelp
My wife and I were bummed when CJ Mugg's closed in Old Webster, but curious to try the restaurant that replaced it. We finally made that choice for Valentine's Day dinner last night, and we don't regret it. Madrina did a wonderful job renovating the space to create an elegant romantic atmosphere with warm low lighting and a soundtrack of pop standards. Service was very attentive and accommodating - despite the holiday crowd size, we never had to wait long for a water refill or a check in our cocktails (both of which were smooth, unique, and delicious). We split a house salad to start - I'm not typically a huge fan of this particular salad style, but really enjoyed the taste and texture of the artichoke hearts (which are very hit-or-miss to my palate). For the main course, we both ordered medium filets. The preparation felt a bit closer to medium-rare for my taste, but still satisfying and the accompanying roasted mushrooms and béarnaise sauce were excellent compliments to the steaks. The rich aroma of other pastas and seafood filled the dining room, and I'm curious to explore more of the menu on a future date night. Madrina made for a pleasant Valentine's Day dinner, and I'd recommend giving them a try next time you're in Webster Groves.

Yelp
My husband and I tried Madrina for the first time this past Friday night for a date night. We made a reservation online and this was definitely the right call! This place was super popular and busy on a Friday night, so I highly recommend making a reservation just in case. The ambiance and decor of the restaurant is great. Our server and the other service staff helping with filling waters and clearing food were all very friendly and helpful. It never felt like we were being bombarded with people popping in, but also they made sure to check in at the right frequency. For drinks, I ordered the NA*groni, their non-alcoholic Negroni. I always appreciate when there are mocktails and NA options on the menu, and they had a few options here. The rest of the actual cocktail menu looked amazing! For appetizers, we ordered the Whipped Ricotta and the off-the-menu special of Arancini. Both were very delicious. We both agreed the arancini was probably the star of the show for us for the whole meal. It was the best I've had - with a different take on arancini by taking out the peas and adding aged provolone in the middle, which made the balls super cheesy and delicious. For entrees, I ordered the Crêpe Manicotti and my husband ordered the off-the-menu night special Eggplant Parmesan. Both were very delicious. The manicotti is made with crêpes instead of the traditional pasta, which was so cool and added a nice texture change-up. The spinach filling was great, and the red sauce and green sauce that came with were both very tasty. The eggplant parmesan had really good flavoring and was the perfect amount after having our appetizers. We will definitely be back!! There are several items we both can't wait to try on the menu.

Yelp
The service was awesome! Matt made us feel like family. The food was great and I recommend the pizza at happy hour. The ambience and the attention to detail pertaining to the set up of the tables was amazing. Perfect night..

Yelp
First of all, BEAUTIFUL restaurant. Such a cool design and a perfect location in Webster. Next, let's talk about my dream come true. The Raviolo. What's better than the most perfect food in the world, ravioli? A GIANT RAVIOLO, the size of your plate, with mascarpone, and a duck egg in the center to burst open into a delectable sauce. Wow. The desserts were unreal, the Mayfair is a legendary salad. The cocktails were perfect, and let's face it, this place knows wine, so the selection is perfect and they recommend great bottles to compliment your order. This place is for sure a regular destination, go as soon as possible.

Yelp
We tried Madrina for the first time for our NYE dinner. After reading several negative reviews I was a bit worried, but truly this place was amazing! Our server explained the menu to us, the ambiance of this place is so moody and relaxing and all the food was delicious. We had to try the whipped ricotta which was define and our waiter even brought out extra bread so we could finish it off! My husband had the veal parmigiana and I had the pork gnocchi. These dishes are elegantly made- no extra seasonings needed. Really simple but so so good. We both enjoyed our drinks. My husband really liked the Italian Manhattan and ended up getting a second one!

Yelp
Have been here a few times and always enjoy the ambiance. This last time, I went specifically for the scallops as they were amazing. Unfortunately they did not have them on the menu anymore. I settled for the monk fish which I did not like at all. It was very tough and not flavorful. I did enjoy the arancini appetizer (a special), and the salads. I will go back and order something other than the monk fish! Hoping to see the scallops back on the menu soon!

Yelp
Revisited this place a year later and it's still pretty good! Made reservations on Open Table. The vibe is nice. Great, moody ambiance - good date place. Was bummed that I didn't see the whipped ricotta on the menu. To this day, I still think about it every few weeks. Anyways, recent experience was different and better. Their sommelier actually waited on us with a trainee. It was nice to see that interaction. We mostly ordered different things this time around and brought our own bottle of wine that I've been meaning to pop open - a special Zinfandel blend from an old Paso Robles project - Downstream 2018. While they do have a solid wine list, I appreciate that there is corkage here. We did order a glass of a local Riesling to go with the calamari, which was stellar - loved the inclusion of artichokes in it. We also tried the crab pasta, branzino and T-bone. All delicious. We were too stuffed for dessert.

Yelp
Loved this place! Food was fantastic, great service! We went for our son's college graduation from Webster University.

Yelp
Excellent service, nice atmosphere. It was nice spring night and the doors and windows were open to the street. The apps were very good. Really liked the fried calamari and the mussels in marinara. For sides I tried some mushrooms and creamed spinach - both very good. I had the veal parm. This is the only criticism of the night. 2 veal pieces were good sizes but should have been pounded out thinner. And the melted cheese on top a little sparse and came off when cutting the meat. Lacked a little flavor due to the plating. Came with crushed potatoes and arugula. The potato's seemed out of place - maybe just the way they do it here. That said, my friends who got the pasta dishes seemed happy and I would get a pasta dish if I ever came back.

Yelp
We were excited to try Madrina and we left there unimpressed. While the restaurant is gorgeous, the food unfortunately didn't measure up. All four entrees (2 pastas, Denver steak and duck risotto special) lacked flavor and tasted like no salt, pepper or other spices were even used. Risotto was completely bland. The whipped ricotta, oysters and Mayfair salad were just ok. Our server was terrific which is the only reason for the 2 star review. She was the bright light in an otherwise dull dinner.

Yelp
The food was spectacular! We had a group of 5 and everyone loved it the appetizers, salads(wedge with mayflower dressing! And the entrees were better than expected! SO SO GOOD! Expresso Martini flight was the bomb! And to end it all, the absolutely best tiramisu I've ever put in my mouth!! Creamy and delish! The staff...treated us as if we were the only people in the building!! Deanna was our server, Holly brought our food, and Josh kept our table clear and drinks supplied. Thank you all for such a great evening!!! GO EAT THERE!!

Yelp
Madrina was good! I made reservations here a couple weeks ago for a girls dinner. My friend was visiting from out of town and we wanted to go somewhere special. I made a reservation which was easy, so when we arrived at 645, our table was ready to go. The interior is nice and upper-scale. Low lighting with an intimate feel, table cloths, and decorative lighting. We were sat in a booth and had waters poured and ready for us. We ordered drinks and appetizers first. I had a limoncello spritz which was tasty and strong. Our appetizers included the whipped ricotta and burrata. The whipped ricotta was served super aesthetically- I would have preferred a bit more flavor to the dish. The burrata was amazing, blistered tomatoes with some olive oil and balsamic (I think). Highly recommend that. For my entree I ordered the amatriciana pasta. The sauce was delicious and had a nice kick. Pasta was cooked al Dante and had a good subtle flavor. I do wish they had a bit more chicken options on the menu, but I do understand the beauty of simplicity. We had cannolis for dessert and they were delicious. The pastry crust was fabulous. Our server was great and attentive. I believe he was tending bar and taking care of our table so props to him. My friend let him know she wanted to order some wine, and we ended up having a sommelier at our table side to help her which was an awesome touch. I've never been to a place where one was available so easily.

Yelp
A nice place for old style Italian food in an atmosphere a bit more elevated than typical. Our server said they go for a steakhouse vibe, which is fine, but we were there for Italian. Not a negative, but basically irrelevant to us. Bread service is not included gratis, which we were told first thing. An option under antipasti was recommended if we wanted it, which was whipped ricotta with grilled bread. Appetizers are always overpriced in my opinion, so $12 for bread and whipped soft cheese seemed a bit much. However, it was a ton of whipped ricotta, and the server said she would bring more bread when we wanted it - which she did. Ricotta was drizzled with honey and flower petals - both visually appealing and tasty (the ricotta and honey, petals had no flavor to me). Bread was lightly buttered and grilled focaccia and sourdough. A good choice to start. The wife's salad, House on the Hill, was just pretty standard. My mushroom soup was quite good. A variety of fresh mushrooms in a thicker sauce/soup. I was afraid it would be too rich, but it was just right. It was quite heavy on the mushroom vs. soup ratio, which I quite enjoyed. The wife's manicotti was also good, but pretty typical for decent Italian joint. My chicken marsala was an entire half chicken with the breast deboned, but the leg bone in. Chicken breast was flavorful and tender. The attached wing was bone in, and I quickly decided it was going to be decoration only - too difficult to get much meat with the marsala sauce on it. All that ricotta and soup left me too full to eat the leg, so that came home for leftovers. However, I suspect it would have been a bit of work to remove the meat with knife and fork. Sauce was darker and thicker than I'm used to, with a lot of mushrooms. Had an earthier flavor than I prefer too. It was okay, but I've preferred the dish more from more laid back places.

Yelp
Webster Groves has become the hot spot in the St. Louis dining scene and Madrina is a good addition. This upscale, Italian restaurant has elevated the corner of Lockwood and Gore. The build out is beautiful. It is an elegant ambiance. The wine list is approachable and has a great variety of options. The cocktail menu is also excellent. With Alicia Blackwell-Calvert heading it up--I'd expect nothing less. The food was outstanding. We had the whipped ricotta to start. It was creamy, just enough sweetness and was delicious. I enjoyed the scallops and my husband had the hangar steak--both amazing. We also had the beets as a side. With all of these praises, you may wonder why only 4 stars. Simple--the service was approaching mediocre at best. Our server seemed pre-occupied and was often just missing. Maybe he was having an off night, maybe this isn't the job for him. Either way, it was poor. Hopefully Madrina will get wait staff up to par and be worthy of that 5th star.

Yelp
It was my first time trying Madrinas and I've seen a lot about them on instagram so I was excited to try. We got sat at the "godfather" table since there was 6 of us and I loved the ambiance of the big booth and being right next to the bar. The drink menu has lots of options and a few not the menu we tried. I got the chai espresso martini which was delicious! The drinks are on the pricier side being $15 but they were good. We got the ricotta and grilled bread and it was a showstopper. Perfectly salty with so much flavor. The dinner is where I was a bit disappointed. First of all, there isn't any options for vegetarians. Typically there is one pasta that will have no meat or seafood but all pastas had seafood or meat which I have an allergy to shellfish and don't really eat meat so that kind of sucked. I opted for one with meat that I scraped away but the flavor of it ruined the pasta for me. The service was wonderful. Our serve was super attentive, gave reccomdations and popped in frequently to check in. I think if I were to come again, I'd come to that ricotta and drinks!

Yelp
Food. Lobster bisque. Lots of lobster. NOT HOT. Tepid at best. No excuse for not hot. Linguine with clams. NO FLAVOR. Should reek of garlic. Bland to the nth. Service. No bread served. When asked, served with no butter. No grated cheese offered for linguine. When asked, not grated at table. Ambiance. Wonderful. Just the food that sucks. Third and last time we ate there.

Yelp
Seriously....whats all the complaining about? Was excited to finally get to Madrina, as it's been on my bucket list since it opened. I had only heard good things, so I'm further confused by the people leaving negative review. The space is beautiful. Date night vibes for sure with the low lighting, the red button back seats, and the mirrors. Madrina oozes charm, and screams upscale without being pretentious. The restaurant was busy but not packed on a Thursday night at 7, and there was a good buzz of conversation in the air that was the perfect decibel level. Let's start with the service. We were greeted by what I'd guess was a sommelier who asked if help was needed with the wine list. Shortly after we were greeted by our server Semso, who was an absolute delight and very attentive the duration of our night. We started with the mussels. How has no one mentioned these yet? These are the biggest mussels I've had, possibly anywhere. Definitely in St Louis. Fresh, tasty, and the broth creamy and absolutely amazing. My one gripe here is that there should have been more broth served with them, and a spoon to help portion it out. Will most definitely go back for the mussels alone! I had the spaghetti chitarra carbonara for my main dish and it was delightful as well. Creamy, peppery, and the guanciale perfectly crispy but not overdone. I wish I had saved room for tiramisu, but that on top of how great my first visit to Madrina was give me plenty of reason to get back soon!

Yelp
My friend and I got a late reservation and walking into the beautiful space, transformed from the previous CJ Muggs was lovely and intimate. I ordered some well-seasoned oysters and paired it with some refreshing rosè recommended by Alisha Blackwell-Calvert the advanced sommelier with Madrina. I finished with the tiramisu cake, a sweet treat perfect for sharing. I'm definitely going to make it a point to come back and explore more of the menu.

Yelp
This venue was a Sports Bar for years, a fixture in downtown Webster. I could not recognize anything inside. It has a beautiful new decor fitting for an upscale Italian restaurant. We had a table for 4 adults and two early grade school children. The manager referred to it as the "Godfather booth" which certainly is appropriate. We ordered pizza, mussels and steak for the children before we placed orders for the adults. That was a mistake on our part. The pizza and mussels were a big hit! There were enough for everyone at the table to sample. We all agreed that the mussels were tender and delicious. I used bread to sop up as much of the broth as I could, it had just the right amount of garlic and butter. After that we had to wait for the adult meals. The children quickly tired of the wait. We adults were surprised when the Caprese salads we had ordered arrived at table. The salad is dominated by large cubes of bread! Bread was mentioned on the menu but it was quite surprising to see that it dominated the tomatoes and cheese. The entrees finally arrived. The shrimp dish was great. The skirt steak was good too. The chicken Marsala was prepared bone in. It's difficult to eat a Chicken Leg dripping a sauce. I was able to cut off pieces of breast meat without getting too much of the sauce on my shirt. The Marsala sauce was salty and buttery. I make better dry and sweet Marsala sauce myself. I will return one more time to try some other salads and entrees. I hope for better outcomes.

Yelp
My friends and I had the best meal and experience last week at Madrina! We made a reservation ahead of time just to make sure we would have a confirmed table for our dinner. When I arrived, the rest of my group was not there yet, so I checked in with the hostess and then made my way to the bar to order a cocktail. The bartender greeted me promptly and provided me their cocktail menu. After reviewing it for a few minutes, I decided on the Meet me in Amolfi which is Italian vodka, limoncello, fig syrup and ginger beer, it was really tasty and very refreshing! Once I had my drink and paid my bar tab, the rest of the girls arrived and we made our way to the dining room to be seated at our table. Once we were seated, we did have someone come by with water to fill our glasses, but it must have been about 10 minutes before our server came over to greet us. Not sure what that was about, but throughout the experience he made it up to us with his fun personality and great recommendations from the menu. We started with wine for the table and we ordered a few small plates to share; the panzella capers and the whipped ricotta were both perfect sharing sizes and when the food items arrived, they looked so colorful and plated very well. The whipped ricotta had a nice drizzle of honey which gave it a hint of sweetness and the caprese was fresh and had amazing flavors. We would order both of these items again. Jordy was our server and when he made some recommendations for our meals, I knew that as soon as he mentioned a pasta dish with clams, I had to have it! I ordered the linguini con vongole and could not wait to give it a try! Others at the table ordered scallops, the pollo marsala, and the raviolo along with some fingerling potatoes and some Brussels sprouts. When the food arrived, everything was fresh and the flavors were good. While I liked the linguini with clams, I think it needed a little more flavor. Not sure if it needed something to give it a kick or something on the lemon tart side, but I do think it was just kind of bland - but it was good and I did eat it all! Others said that their meals were also really good and we did not have much leftover. Jordy came by to check on us a few times and offered us samples of wine before we ordered the glass of wine which was helpful since we were debating between 2 different kinds. The samples helped us make a decision. For dessert, we ordered some tiramisu and the cannolis. Again, enough for the table to share. Desserts were so good and very filling. I love a good cannoli and this one was really well done. The ricotta filling was very creamy and delicious and went nicely with the crunch of the pastry shell. Definitely recommend desserts here! Overall, this was a great meal from start to finish and I am already planning on taking my mom when she is in town next month. I expect their menu will only continue to get better as they stay open longer.

Yelp
Really lovely new spot in town! Kind of an upscale speakeasy vibe. Cocktails were excellent. They make a great whiskey sour. They do a very nice job with fish. Halibut was excellent. Staff were attentive and friendly. Looking forward to trying more of their dishes next time!

Yelp
Service and the atmosphere were great. The waiter recommended the ravioli as her favorite pasta and It was not good at all. We would not recommend that to eat. Oysters were good, calamari was just alright but not for the price.

Yelp
I was so excited to try this place and so glad we went! All of the appetizers looked so good, I couldn't decide on which one to order so went with the mussels which was amazing. We then got a pasta and the pollo marsala to share and the portions of both were so big we had so much to take home. We got a side of the Brussels sprouts which were cooked to perfection - perfectly crisp. Prices I found were reasonable, ambiance was romantic and fancy, and it was a good crowd overall- enough people to keep the night busy but not overwhelmingly so. Would love to come back and try out more dishes especially the oysters and the tuna appetizer! The spaghetti also looks great!

Yelp
My wife and I live in Webster and have frequented Madrina multiple times. The menu and ambiance is not your typical "St Louis Italian" experience. But if you visit with an open mind and a desire to "try something new" I am confident your experience will be worthy of a follow up visit! Beef speidini was a fantastic starter. Lobster Raviloli and Veal Parm were great choices for our entrees and they paired beautifully with our 2011 Super Tuscan #Mangía #MoriartyParty

Yelp
Great food, service and ambiance. Webster needs to hold onto this little Italian gem.

Yelp
My friends and I do a monthly supper club, this month there were 9 of us, and we chose Madrina last night. We had a DELIGHTFUL experience. The ambiance is dark, cozy, romantic if you're doing date night, and the lights on the table are adjustable to set the mood exactly how you'd like it (a touch that I especially loved.) It just looks really posh inside. The service was impeccable- never an empty glass on the table, very appreciated. I'm assuming, the GM, checked on us throughout our meal, joked with us, and was extremely welcoming. Now for the food- delicious. The table had the whipped ricotta, which actually was a very large portion, and the special- beef speidini. I personally had the Mayfair salad, which I thought was fantastic. Then I had the spinach manicotti, which was filling, cheesy, and flavorful. Highlights from the others were: the hangar steak with I believe the peppercorn sauce (we literally passed it around the table and dipped everything in it, it was so good,) the large portion or mussels, and the spaghetti dish. Such a pleasurable experience!

Yelp
Had dinner here on Friday night. New to the Webster area it is the former CJ Muggs. It has been reborn as an Italian eatery. If you've been to the former restaurant, you'll recognize the interior. It has been redecorated and now has a more upscale feel. It's a dark, sexy kind of romantic feel with soft lamps at each table. Beautiful maroon banquettes, it's a very classy feel. I really couldn't take many pictures because people were already seated and I am not comfortable doing that. Service here is good. Our waiter was prompt and was very knowledgeable about everything on the menu. For a starter we ordered Calabrian oysters. Don't expect large oysters. These are small. You'll get around eight. Lots of heat. My mate had a pasta with clams. I had raviolo. It's a large ravioli with a duck egg yolk inside. The pasta in both dishes was excellent. The clams were a bit chewy but he still loved the dish. Best part of the meal for me was the Mayfair salad. I love the dressing. It's delicious. They have a good menu and a really nice wine list. The Sauvignon Blanc is delicious so if you are a white wine drinker try it. We had the tiramisu for dessert. It was good but I thought it was missing the coffee and rum flavors. It's okay because you aren't there for the dessert. I loved dining here. It's a beautiful place with exemplary service.

Yelp
Not sure why it has only 3.5 stars. We had a great experience, from the service to the dessert. Everything we had was good, starting with a Hugo, shared with my wife the mussels, the sorbet (which was really good) the raviolo, hanger steak and the cannoli, all very tasty! I also had the Mayfair salad, really good. Had a couple of things from the per glass wine menu and they seem to have excellent options. Edi, our server, was very attentive and his recommendations were accurate and good! As I said, great dinner experience.

Yelp
I really enjoyed my time here for a birthday dinner. The atmosphere was lively with great service by staff. As well as the food being delicious. The appetizer was a light starter, compared to the cheesy manicotti pasta. My friends had positive reviews of the linguini and salad. I would recommend this establishment but note it can be on the pricier side for multiple people.

Yelp
We've dined here last month and liked it so much we returned with friends. The food was delicious. The sommelier was very knowledgeable and recommended wine that perfectly paired with each savory dish. Madrina is a neighborhood gem and a destination dining spot.

Yelp
I usually don't post reviews but as a server myself, the service given in this restaurant is extremely lacking considering the prices. My table was one of 7 tables sat in the entire restaurant. Our server explained the menu in great detail, then didn't take our order for another hour after that. The salad and bread took another 40 minutes to come out, then the pasta took 30 more minutes. We finally canceled our chicken dish because we were simply ready to leave. They boxed it up for us and took it off the bill. As a server, I would have been apologizing profusely if my kitchen was taking even half as long as theirs was. The food was mediocre. I live in the area, but will never be returning.

Yelp
The only reason that I'm giving three stars is because of the service and the beef carpaccio. Our server was very good and attentive. The food was mediocre and expensive. If you're looking for à la cart then I guess this place is for you if you want to spend a small fortune. I ordered the halibut and it was very dry, it had a good sauce but not enough of it to cover the dryness. My husband ordered the scallops and they were undercooked. If you're looking for sides, don't let them fool you with a shareable size because the dishes are tiny. We were excited when we heard an Italian restaurant was moving into the neighborhood and, being the foodies that we are, we definitely wanted to try it. We did, but I can't say that we will go back.
