Super tasty wine, generous portion and variety of cheeses on the cheese board! We tried the Riesling, which was dry crisp, aromatic and delightful! The rosé, which hit the spot again and again. Finally the camas a Syrah / Cinsault blend which was really friendly and drinkable! The service is 10 outta 10 and oh so delightful! A must try!

Fantastic date night spot - went on a night with live music and it was so much fun and such a fabulous atmosphere. They had a food menu with tasty bites and small plates to go with their selection of their own island made wines and ciders (the bacon wrapped dates were spectacular) Highly recommend!

Super cute and great vibes. Went to grab a glass of wine before dinner on Saturday night and there was a DJ playing like, new lounge music - very cool. We had the Syrah and cabsav, both delicious with the feta and olives. Service was great and everyone was so friendly. 10/10 recommend.

Google
Amazing place making excellent ciders and wines. Every travel destination has its local craft booze places - but don't get it twisted, Madrone is different. Creative ciders and wines with a wonderful atmosphere.

Madrone is a very unassuming cute little spot that we almost passed right by! Thank goodness we didn't! We were greeted by two very lovely ladies and decided to do tastings instead of glasses of wine. She offered to bring them out to the lovely deck and of course we agreed on such a gorgeous day! We sampled 5 wines, each one unique in flavor and body. All were delicious! The deck is stunning having just been rebuilt after a devastating fire 6 weeks prior. Service was great, wines were great and the area was great! We'll definitely be back!

Google
Excellent wine and cider options. Ciders are all made with local fruit and tend to be in the drier side - perfect. The wines were really delicious.

I passed by this place a buncha times, thinking that wines produced on SJI couldn't be that good. Holy smokes, was I wrong! Thank goodness I figured it out, because it's also a really luvverly place to relax - fun and serene at the same time. Photo is San Juan Island still life with Kingston cider.

Slightly disappointed following our visit. My girlfriend and I were stranded for a few hours when the ferry broke down, and stopped in for a tasting. Not sure if our host was having an off day or was distracted, but we did not feel very welcome. We were left alone for around 20 mins after being poured our first tasting (we were the only customers in the shop). After tasting, we purchased what we thought would be a 750ml bottle of vermouth (discount for 750ml bottles and ciders after tasting) only to later find out the bottle is half the size (375 ml). Not complaining, just felt a disclaimer might've been good. Otherwise, shop was quiet and clean, and the wine was good.

Yelp
The place is cozy! I do wish there was a view outside but inside is nice too. The owner who served us was friendly and personable. The breads and olives that we ordered were tasty. The wines were all local and it helped they offer a discount on bottles if you order a flight.

Yelp
Came here for a tasting in the afternoon. The back patio was great. Tons of space and a nice little oasis. We ordered two flights and sat outside and waited for them to be brought to us. The women working were great. Friendly and welcoming. The wine was great. Good portions and refreshing.

Yelp
We missed our opportunity in 2020 to do a private tasting with the owners. Due to the pandemic and other issues we weren't able to do this. We came back to the island two years later and this place is a business now. Thankful they weren't affected by the fire as much. We were greeted by the nice woman with dark hair behind the bar and the local man at the end of the bar. I get a nice look around and enjoy the structure and how nice and quaint the place looks. They have the main room which has a small bar area, little room next for sitting, and an additional room with some seating. Then you have the back deck which has plenty of room. It's quite amazing outside. I love the bathroom. It has a unique map of all the wineries, breweries, distillery and ciders on the islands. I looked at the menu and they have cider, wine and sparkling wine flights. I asked if we can mix and match and she was so nice and said yes. We had the Riesling which on the nose had a delightful and smooth smell to this dry wine. It was fruit forward and stainless, then we had the Cabernet Sauvignon which had a nice aged barrel smell to it, it wasn't Smokey but it had a medium body formation to it and tastes amazing. One of the best Cabs that I've tried in a while. Moved on to the local blend of dry apple cider that was aged in French oak for 6 months. It was impressive, it had enough hint of the oak on the nose for a colorful splash towards the end. Lastly we had the kiwi which wasn't one of my favorites. It was dry and you can really taste the kiwi. Just wasn't digging the flavor. Overall from customer service, to sampling and having a glass of the Cabernet Sauvignon I was impressed. I look forward to visiting in the future when we return to the island.

Yelp
This was an awesome place to stop. The wine was very good, but the staff working last Saturday, made the experience even better. She really enjoys being there and it shows. We really enjoyed our time at Madrone.

Yelp
So nice I came back twice! This place is an absolute gem. I stopped two days in a row to enjoy some delicious small bites and ciders! I sat on the back patio, which was beautiful and shaded. It was so refreshing after a day of mopeds and bike riding. I got the cider flight the first day, which was perfect to help me decide what to get a glass of when I stopped by the second day! And they have happy hour which is a bonus!! Highly recommend stopping here if you're in Friday Harbor! Thanks for taking care of me Barb.

Yelp
Want to try so amazing cider and wine in Friday Harbor? Look no further - Madrone Cellars has all you need. Reds, whites, rosè, ciders both classic and local mixes. This place has you covered. The flights are so well served, you will definitely find something for your pallet. Sean and his wife are so knowledgeable about all their products so any questions you have they will have the answer for you. On your way out make sure to get a bottle Of what you liked the most, I recommend the Malbec and cider-wise ask for the local favorite, it's a classic dry cider that goes with anything. Specially summer. While their tasting in room is new, their wine has been around since 2017. Don't forget to ask about their sparkling wine - it usually sells out as it's amazing but if they have it - try it, you won't regret it. Cheers!

Yelp
Great service and we loved the patio. They really helped us pick out the ciders we would like best and kept checking on us and offering water which was appreciated.

Yelp
The wine and especially the ciders were a terrific afternoon treat. Cyrus is so friendly and knowledgeable about all of the wine and ciders. Just a great guy! When we return to Friday Harbor, Madrone Cellars is our first stop!

Yelp
Thoroughly enjoyed my experience here! On a rainy afternoon, how lovely it was to settle down in the lounge here with a good book and a delicious flight of cider. The atmosphere was just so cozy and I loved the jazzy musical selection playing in the background. The hostess (I wish I'd asked for her name) was so kind and welcoming too. I had decided to skip one of the ciders on the sampling menu because it contains hops (which I don't really like). She was so kind as to offer a second pour of one of the other 3 preceding samples instead. Highly recommend this place, especially the Marionberry cider!

Yelp
A few weeks ago I stumbled across Madrone Cellars (before the most recent stay at home order) and convinced my mom we should stop in for a quick wine tasting to support the new tasting room. I knew they had good cider as I had purchased that before from farmers markets over the last few years, but I didn't know much about their wine, and to be honest I didn't have high hopes (I'm kind of a 'wine snob'). I was COMPLETELY blown away. My mom and I did a full tasting and enjoyed each one! I have already been back to buy more bottles and it will continue to be a part of my personal wine rotation. Their tasting space is super cute and I can't wait until we are able to safely drink inside there again!

Yelp
This wine/cider tasting spot is freshly opened! I've been waiting for this, as I've tried the wine and cider at the local farmer's market, and loved it so much that we served it at our wedding. The owners know their stuff, and turned passion into profession. The tasting flights are killer, and the little seating/standing areas are inviting. Excited to have joined the wine club! This is a must-visit if you're in the area. It's a bit conspicuous, so you've got to be on the lookout, but once you figure out its there you'll not want to look further for a relaxing and fun hangout.
