Mae Sa Waterfall

A very beautiful nature park with good pavements, almost barrier-free to get up until the 4th waterfall (tiny stairs have to be crossed). There is also a parking lot upwards the river, which makes this waterfall accessible for people, who do not want to or cannot walk up. It is well kept and if you go the left path, it’s a small hike up until the bridge, where you cross the river. A lovely way to spend the morning/afternoon and also possible at midday, since the river spends a cool breeze. Bring small money for the entrance.

Why on earth did I never visit Mae Sa waterfall before! I finally did so during November 2025 and found it one of the most scenic places I've visited in Thailand. Allow two to two and a half hours to complete the walk to and from the summit. The walk starts at the car park and finishes at the summit after visiting 10 waterfalls (or cascades as they call them here) and then of course you have to return. All are worth seeing. Therre is a neat wooden footbridge over the river at one point, some splendid wooden viewing points numerous points of interest. Although comfortable for most people there are places which may prove difficult for the elderly or handicapped. Obviously care should be taken at these points. After completing the trip and seen all the cascades, I recommend having a meal at the excellent ethnic restaurant near the car park at the end of your walk. A really lovely visit to Mae Sa Waterfall. The paths are well maintained all the way up through the sequence of ten waterfalls, making it easy to explore at your own pace. We saw lots of interesting butterflies and lizards along the way, which added to the experience. We visited in February and it didn’t feel overly busy at all, so it was very peaceful. Clear signage throughout and good facilities. The entry fee was excellent value – just a couple of hundred baht for two people and a car. Beautiful dappled light through the trees and a very scenic walk. Some sections are a little steep, so decent footwear is a good idea. Well worth a visit if you enjoy nature and gentle hiking.

What a great day out arrived early about 10.30am and had literally free access. Total of 10 falls but 9 and 10 might be a stretch unless you are into rock climbing 100 Baht per person to enter and 20 Baht to park motorbike.

Mae Sa Waterfall (น้ำตกแม่สา) was a really enjoyable experience. I loved how the waterfall is divided into multiple levels (up to 10), and you can climb up gradually while enjoying each waterfall one by one. The walk itself is refreshing and surrounded by greenery, making it perfect for nature lovers. What I liked the most was that it wasn’t very crowded, so we could enjoy the views peacefully. There’s also a nice spot where people—especially kids—were enjoying swimming and playing in the water, which added to the lively and fun atmosphere. Overall, it’s a great place to relax, take photos, and enjoy nature if you’re visiting Chiang Mai. Definitely worth a visit! 🌿💦

Awesome place, the best so far.. can do picnics by the water or just eat there, food is ok. You can do few levels with plenty to enjoy or go to the top and don't anything. Went there week day and weekend, for bith it wasn't busy. We will go back again for sure. Water was still flowing end January. Great 👍 time

Fairly easy walking path through a series of waterfall plateaus. Went at around 2:30pm and there were not many people on a Wednesday in mid December. Farangs dipped in here and there. Otherwise it’s just a fairly simple hike to the top. The sound is very nice. Would be good for meditation as the sound can easily be all encompassing with your eyes closed. Well maintained.

By far the most strong-flowing and beautiful waterfall I’ve seen in Thailand at this time of year. There is a well-developed and scenic trail that allows you to hike up alongside the waterfall. The entrance fee is 100 baht per person, which is absolutely worth it.
