Mae’s Room - Review - Coconut Grove - Miami - The Infatuation

"Mae’s Room is the cocktail bar the Grove desperately needed. It stands out as a slightly more sophisticated—but still approachable—spot in a neighborhood full of sticky-floored grunge bars. The booths are plush and the tables are lit with candles. They’re serving spirit-forward cocktails, the kind that require a fully formed frontal lobe to enjoy. That means penicillins, Negronis with absinthe, and pre-batched martinis that live in a freezer. And because it’s located right next door to its sister restaurantChuggie’s, you can eat french fries with your gin fizz." - Virginia Otazo

This place is terrible, it won’t last In a community like The Grove. We were told a 2-3 hour wait so we went away and came back after 2 hours. As I walked to the front to ask the guy if we would be able to go inside he said nothing, shut the door in my face, locked the door and left everyone who had been waiting standing outside shocked. Multiple groups of people were treated that way and all left feeling unhappy. What’s the point of treating people badly? Hopefully this bar gets replaced with something the locals can actually use and enjoy in the grove asap.

This place is an absolute gem! The cozy, intimate atmosphere makes it the perfect place to unwind and every drink feels thoughtfully crafted. Even more amazing that you can order Chuggies straight from the bar and enjoy it there with your martini! A must-visit for anyone who loves great cocktails and great energy.

This place made us put our name down when we arrived and was told to wait 2-3hrs. Came back 2hrs later and the guy at the door would lock the door without even acknowledging the presence of anyone outside. Not sure how much longer this place will sustain. The guy at the door was very disrespectful. Do not recommend this place and will not be back.

MAE’s Room is exactly the kind of hidden gem this neighborhood was missing. It’s a beautiful, intimate speakeasy with a lot of finesse and personality. The atmosphere is cozy, refined, and perfect for a night out with great drinks. Also, big shoutout to Omar, the best bartender in the whole place. If you want great recommendations and top-tier service, ask for him. He won’t disappoint. Highly recommend checking out MAE’s Room! 🍸

I’m a Miami local, born and raised, and have lived in the Grove for 15 years. I tried walking in with my husband today, and the blonde British “doorman” gave us full LIV-style attitude. After he turned away what seemed like underage guys, I lightly touched the door handle, and he came out yelling at me to “wait my turn” — despite the fact that I was the only other person there. My husband mentioned that we had friends inside, and the doorman made him go in alone to point them out, then locked the door behind him, leaving me outside by myself. When my husband came back to get me, the doorman told him that if he stepped outside he wouldn’t be allowed back in, literally holding the door in his face. All of this happened within two minutes of us arriving. It was an unnecessarily dramatic experience for a brand-new bar. We were casually trying to walk in, and this guy acted like it was some exclusive, high-end club we were “lucky” to approach. I genuinely try to support small local businesses — I’m a local myself — but this was wild. Unfortunately, I wouldn’t go back
