This restaurant located in the city of Pacoima is amazing, once I walked in I was surprised, nice Friday Kaloh painting on the main entrance, high ceiling, a nice bar, very friendly and helpful staff, I feel that the restaurant has a very old fashioned romantic ambience, just lovely, and what makes the place even better is the roof top, where anyone can enjoy a meal, specially if it's evening time, there are 3 tables where you could take a date or even yourself to enjoy the sunset but it'll be way better to have someone, the string lights makes it more romantic. There is also a kind of private room , where you could easily enjoy the street view while enjoying the food. The food is absolutely delicious, last week I saw this place and I have been going 4 times already, they even make the tamales, no frozen food. I had a house special I believe it is, comes with 2 eggsany style ,2 slices of bread and a tamale of your choice. Personally I loved their food and I highly recommend this place, don't get me wrong if someone doesn't like the taste but let's be fair, we all have a different taste, but for me the food is delicious, and very affordable price. If I'm ever around I'll definitely have to try a new dish

This place has lost its taste in the food and customer care I guess it’s time to head down the street 4 buildings away to abuelas231 north Maclay ave I don’t mind the wait it’s worth it also prices are better not 30 $ for a plate of chilaquiles

It seems I may have had a bit of a mixed experience at this restaurant. As a huge fan of homemade tamales, I was really looking forward to trying the Tamale Bowl. However, it didn’t quite match my expectations. I had envisioned something similar to a Chipotle-style bowl, but instead received a dish that felt more like a fresh, health-inspired bowl filled with an abundance of veggies. On the positive side, my sisters Chili Relleno looked absolutely delicious and definitely caught my eye! In hindsight, I might have been better off choosing that or sticking with the classic tamales. Overall, while I didn't find what I was hoping for, I can appreciate the emphasis on fresh ingredients. I may give this place another shot to explore more of the menu!

I use to live it here. For a while it was pricey to go here but it was worth it. I went today and it wasn’t very expensive but seems like the quality of the food also went down. I was given severely undercooked hash browns. Felt like they weren’t cooked at all. The horchata iced coffee use to my fav treat, but today it tasted like medicine. Not sure if they changed their coffee or horchata recipe but I’m pretty bummed out.

If you want big and delicious tamales then you need to go here we got some for Xmas 2025 they never let us down. We also tried their carne asada tacos ,shrimp tacos and the chile relleno burrito and ing all so delicious 😋 wow !highly recommend this beautiful place to eat at staff were all very friendly.

Wow, this place is everything!!! So fresh, we came at a great time to see them make the Tamales on the spot. Ordered the Ribeye Steak cooked to perfection. Tamales are so soft and fluffy, and they don't skip on the filling. Also, iced coffee was better than Starbucks.

Another little gem in the East valley. Very nice atmosphere Friendly staff. Little fruit & Vegetable stand inside as well witch is pretty convenient. Called in my order and it was ready when I arrived so that’s another plus. Got a dozen tamales mixed pork, Chili cheese, Mixed vegetable and Sweet corn & Pineapple. I have to say Not bad at all! The tamales are a good size and prices are fair. If your ever in Sanfernando Give this place a try.

Delicious brunch for friends birthday celebration. We had lots of space at a table. The decor was a mix of rustic industrial and cultural. You order cafeteria style and take a number and seat and they being it to your table. I ordered pancakes, eggs and bacon. The pancakes were as big as my head. Lol. Vanilla flavor throughout. This establishment is famous for their tamales. They get long lines during the holidays. A unique feature is the observation window from inside the restaurant into the kitchen. If you haven't seem tamales pit together homemade style then you definitely have to visit Magaly's. Please note: public parking is street parking and check the hours before you head over they close early on Sundays.

Nice little spot on Maclay in downtown San Fernando. You go to the front, order, pay and they'll bring the food to you. Good amount of seating. Pretty expansive menu. We got breakfast and all 5 of us were satisfied and pleased. I got French toast and bacon and delicious! Prices were fair. Staff was lovely. Def would recommend.

If you're looking for tamales, Magaly's Tamales and Mexican Grill in San Fernando is a destination that you must visit. They have a diverse selection of freshly made tamales. In my opinion, unparalleled. You can see the expert ladies from the staff, preparing them fresh every morning, through a glass enclosure, while you are picking up or ordering at this restaurant. I like this place for many reasons. While they do have a large menu of breakfast, lunch and dinner items, they are most well-known for their amazing tamales. My favorite is always the ground beef tamale, constructed with a red sauce. My second choice is the chicken, which is shredded and prepared in a green sauce. In addition, what I crave for is their salsa Rojo, which is made in a large bucket and then put into small containers to disperse during their orders. Please see my pictures. Somehow, for me, the tamale experience is enhanced with beans. So I pick up a tub of 16 ounce refried beans. I have also done that in a 32 ounce. Both are reasonably priced, freshly made with the perfect mix, viscosity and balance, of whole beans. Service here is always caring, timely, friendly and professional.

We've been getting tamales here for years. We have tried others but keep coming back. Cute place and friendly service.

Five stars for cleanliness and great service. The tamales were $3.60 each. Tamale size is big, each one is about 2.5" in diameter, after peeling the corn husk, they are closer to 2.25." Flavors are not great. I ordered two to try. Chicken with green sauce tasted very cheesy, but I saw them make it, and no where mentions any cheese. Very moist. Pork with red sauce did not have enough flavor. It was very light. Moist, but not enough flavor or depth.

It's a few days after Christmas, so the lines have diminished but tamales are still available. The restaurant sells frozen and hot tamales for those who would like their tamales immediately or down the road. Something about the restaurant I love is a one table balcony overlooking the Boulevard and cozy as well!

This is the fifth time we've given this place a chance and always hopeful they taste better next time. They are unbelievably expensive, frozen (heated in person and charge more for that), and just bland (need a lot of water to swallow each bite). No wonder it's always empty there. Save your hard earned cash and go buy masa at your local grocery store and make them at home.

Got super sick from this place, proceed with caution When I first walked in I got the smell of either sewage or mold not sure which one. I knew then I should have left but figured I've give this place a shot. After being seated almost immediately (choose your own seating) got greeted by a friendly waitress. Ordered our food and within the first few bites of my albondigas soup I felt icky it was very greasy. Didn't think much about it but then I really started not feeling well. We then Left paid our bill in full and of course tipped. About an hour later had the stomach rumbles and threw up. 2 days later I'm feeling a lot better. Be CAUTIOUS!

The tamales have gotten much smaller. Texture is drier and has less meat. Not a good value for your money. Explains why there's noticeably less customers visiting.

Closer to 3.5 stars but I'll round up because everyone was nice, service was quick, and it was well priced! Had a hankering for tamales (story of my life) and we stumbled across Magaly's during a UPS run. Got a couple Chile and cheese tamales with beans and rice, a veggie burrito, and salsa and chips. The tamale combo with beans and rice is funny to me because the tamales are large but the rice and beans sides are SO small. I don't think I've ever experienced that! We ended up buying more rice because it simply was not enough. The chili and cheese tamales are tasty but I'm not a huge fan of the regular bell peppers. The ratio is masa to cheese/pepper was good. The salsas were also just okay and a little watery, but the tamales hit the spot at the time. I enjoyed the veggie burrito. Again, the salsas were just okay. I know I'm picky with salsa, so take this with a grain of salt. The chips, however, were fat and crispy. And the salsa that came with them was much more flavorful than the ones you get with the tamales. I'm interested in trying their vegan tamales since those are so hard to find. Return trip is in order.

I had never been to this part of San Fernando, it's super cute. I love me some bomb Mexican food and the Torta de Asada I ordered was right on the money...delicious!

After buying tamales to go by the dozen for numerous years what a disappointment and gross feeling as we tried to enjoy breakfast for our 38th Anniversary. Poor customer service, table was dirty and was cleaned while we were seated. Moved over one table as the one we were at wobbled so much my coffee nearly spilled. Felt something solid in my Cafe de Olla. Held it with my teeth hoping it was cinnamon or a piece of piloncillo. Surprise - looked like a spider. Being grossed out my husband took the bug to the woman behind the counter and cancelled our order. All she did was stare at the bug she had put it on a napkin and was showing it to the server. Sadly not even an apology. Quite different from many years ago when they were small an across the street from Ucrave. Very disappointing. Sadly I did not take a picture.

This place never disappoints! The Tamales and coffee are out of this world, delicious. The location is amazing the ambiance was immaculate, I sat by the window facing the street and it was so peaceful and definitely a vibe. The staff is also attentive. Will definitely be coming back for round 2!

Came here with the intention of getting Mexican breakfast, and it was delicious! The environment is so cozy and homey but still spacious with tables, and it's a quick service where you order at the register but they bring the food to your table afterwards. I got the chilaquiles and the portion was huge! I chose spicy and it definitely started creeping up on me. My boyfriend got the Nutella strawberry pancakes and we also shared a pork red tamale. Definitely a large tamale and the masa wasn't dry at all, one of the better restaurant ones I've had. Would definitely return!

We got one of each tamale and they were all super good! They are huge. There's another review with a tape measure to show the size and it's accurate. Worth the price Carne asada burrito with refried beans was amazing. Service was excellent. Ambiance was nice. There was a man playing the accordion and singing. Nice touch. Only disappointing thing was there wasn't a really hot salsa. Just one with a small kick. Not worth taking a star though. I will definitely be returning.

We've been coming here for years and each year they get smaller, more expensive, and less flavorful. Today I unwrapped 5 tamal husks off ONE tamal. It was insane.

Drove my 9 month pregnant self to Magaly's on a Saturday morning because I was craving their elote tamales, ordered 3 tamales and drove back up to SCV just to get home and see they gave me 3 chicken tamales instead, mistakes happen but when I called to see if I could get a refund they said I had to drive the 3 tamales back in tact ( are you guys going to reuse them? gross) to get my refund. Not driving back another 25 min for $12 and in 2025 I'm sure you can process a refund without me being there in person but whatever, writing this review as an emotional pregnant lady that really just wanted an elote tamale and cried for 10 minutes straight so just double check your Togo orders.

We went to the restaurant early on a Thursday. There was no wait and the restaurant was clean and tidy. The desk is at the back where you order and the gentleman at the front desk was very nice. I ordered the Machaca plate and my wife ordered the Chilaquiles, I also had a red pork tamal. The price point for the food is really good, especially considering the quantity. The taste of the Machaca was really good. My wife would have preferred her plate to be a little bit more saucy. The Tamal was a bit expensive at four dollars apiece but the size is really good. The overall experience was good. The food was good and at the price point, I think it's a fair exchange I will be returning for more dining.

Nice staff. The Pina fresca was amazing! I came for the hype and it was just okay. They are big but they have a lot of masa and small amount of filling. The filling was okay. Don't think it is worth the line I saw on TV.

Used to be the SPOT back in the day when Magaly owned it. Went downhill after she sold it, went from Authentic Mexican cafe with a culinary twist to your typical average hole in the wall Mexican food. Nothing special anymore, sucks to see. I'm sure people will agree with me too

These are out go to tamales for Christmas. They are affordable and large with lots of filling.

Love their tamales. So I figured I'd try their albóndigas to go. As I was leaving I asked if it had lime inside the bag, they said yes. I got to my destination there was no lime. Went back to ask and as the worker was getting lime the cook sarcastically "yo diario le pongo limon" yet this time he didn't. To then eat it and all veggies undercooked being to hard to even bite.

Poor service, food was not good. Prices are reasonable. Won't be back. Maybe if they had better service we would have came back to try something different.

Nice place. Easy to find and outdoor seating is available. Parking is a little hard but if you're patient it's ok. The food is ordered at the counter when you walk in. Nice selection of breakfast and tamales. I ordered cafe de olla and a breakfast burrito with pancakes. Coffee was good. We are upstairs on the terrace. It wasn't too cold eventhough it was cloudy. It took a little while to get our food but it was ok. The service was overall okay and the price is average.

This place is overrated for there tamales, went in for 5 dozen tamales all pork with green and red sauce. They gave them to me cold in a airtight bag so we can steam them for like 30m Tamales have no flavor the masa is bland no taste the masa is literally what the tamales is made of meaning lots of masa little meat. Completely disappointed everybody at xmas eve dinner disappointed honestly, Would not recommend this place for tamales .

Nice people clean restaurant but the food is nothing special. The Chile and cheese tamale had no taste and the Chile relleno was soggy and had the taste of oil very strong.

They're always fresh and really good. They just don't put enough meat in them. But I they're still good. They give you extra sauce without charging you which keeps customers happy and going back. I drive all the way from West Los Angeles or Moreno Valley. Nice and tasty. Oh but one chick had a bad attitude about extra sauce after I brought 4 dozen, two large Mexican rice, two large beans she would only give me one red and one green for each dozen. I only asked for two extra red and she said no. I bet if her mama ordered that many tamales she would had gave it to them. Hell I spent a lot of money every time I go there. She will cost them to lose business over some sauce

My husband I have have so far dined at Magaly's for breakfast twice and their food is pretty delicious! Love the food, the service is great, we also love the homey feel and it's pretty wheelchair accessible as well. I would rate it a 5/5 but because of pricing, I'll give it a 4. I've actually tried their tamales in the past and it is really delicious and pretty big in serving too, so that's always great! I love their chilaquiles and also their house special breakfast plate with tamales, it's pretty filling and just really good and their salsa is also pretty tasty! Their horchata iced coffee is also bomb, you gotta try it!

There food is great but their customer service sucks and staff is so moody also hella expensive.

This place lives up to its name. They have one of the most tastiest, well portion tamales. I have tried the rajas con queso and chicken and they never disappoint! They have an easy way to place the order and food is ready fast. The ambiance gives you a warm welcome and it's excellent if you like to eat there- perfectly decorated. I just wish they had a pick up line where you didn't have to wait with the rest of the people trying to order as it can take time and defeats the purpose of ordering online or phone.

I went because it was recommended for their tamales which I prob should've gotten bc the plate I got was bland. I got the potato tacos with rice and beans. The tacos had the flavor or hint of salt. The beans tasted like they were from a can. The rice had no flavor and dry.

I usually only come here to pick up tamales for special occasions and they never disappoint but this review is for the restaurant and the food served there. I got there pretty early so it wasn't packed as I have seen it before. This place is a walk up counter to order your food and they bring it to you. The service was good for what it is and the staff was friendly. While waiting for my order there are a couple of tv's to watch and the music being played matched the decor of being vibrant. As for the food I had the 3 tacos dorado combo with rice and beans. I had a chicken, shredded beef, and potato taco. All the food was good and the portions are a decent size.

First time going there, had a breakfast burrito that was really good. The service is great everyone was nice and friendly.

I am a chef! I have tried over 100 different restaurants that make Tamales & I cannot stress enough on how amazing Magaly's Tamales is! The tamales are twice the size of a regular one, the masa is super moist and every single bite contains either the meat Or pineapple! I ordered a dozen beef, chicken, cheese, sweet corn and pineapple! With the recommendation of the cashier, who was super sweet, I ordered 2 large horchata iced coffee's. Omg!!!! Out of this world! Tamales have sentimental meaning for me and no one has been able to make tamales the way I had then 40 years ago, until today! Thank you for warming my heart & our tummy's. I will definitely return & order a catering order, I can't wait to have the rest of my family try! Thank you for your kindness and your amazing food! To All of you foodies you're missing out if you don't try.

I used Magalys to cater a baby shower I hosted for 65 people. Everything was perfect and I received so many compliments on the food. 100% recommend them for catering!

This place was so good! The prices were actually pretty decent too. I'm not sure what everyone in the comments are talking about. You gave one star because YOU ordered something YOU didn't like and then demanded a refund? Lol, and there WASNT a hair, or anything wrong with it? Idk man sounds a little ridiculous. Uhh, pay for another plate then? This place was really good, and the tamales are HUGE. The corn tamales were delicious! I was a little confused whether I had to pay for my food first, or to seat myself when entering, but regardless, I was met by a smile and good service by the Two ladies in front. If you're looking for food that's cheap, has flavor, with a good atmosphere? This is the place.

Food is delicious, I personally love the cheese enchiladas with red sauce, the service is great, but the fuzz spoils the vibe in my opinion. Check this place out if you're in San Fernando and like Mexican cuisine

Ordered a matcha green tea and tasted very artificial. We asked to exchange and they offered to switch for a soda. Not accommodating AT ALL. For food we ordered a panini (not a panini a sandwich with grill marks.) The French toast also mediocre. Pedí un té verde matcha y sabía muy artificial. Pedimos cambiar y se ofrecieron a cambiar por un refresco. No complaciente EN ABSOLUTO. De comida pedimos un panini (no un panini un sándwich con marcas de parrilla). La tostada francesa también mediocre.

Great location, great service, but the food had no flavor. We ordered the Huevos rancheros and the beans and rice were bland. Salsa tasted flavorless. I had a good time but would not recommend their breakfast.

the meats in the tamales could have been marinated longer... bland and the amount of masa in them was decently moist.

So let me start with OMG! I have had the tamales here a few times and they are delicious, but today as I was in the area I decided to drop in and grab breakfast. I got the Breakfast croissant with scrambled eggs ,(because unlike other places you can choose how you want your eggs cooked) DDDDelicious and I got the iced Abuela Coffee HEAVEN IN A CUP it is definitely one of the amazing places to eat in the City of San Fernando!! I loved every bite and drink!!! Way to go Magaly's .. oh and next time I will grab one of their homemade/organic Jams.

The tamales are good, BUT!!! They are starting to make the masa to thick ,less beef , less chicken just to save money. Please stop doing that to save money.

I have been going to Magaly's for 15 years or more, I have introduced several people to the restaurant and everyone has been impressed with the food, the staff and the quality...The tamales are absolutely amazing, the masa is moist and the filling is delicious, the Juevos Ranchero and the chorizo con juevos are some of my favorite meals but everything else that I have enjoyed is delicious...you can't go wrong with anything you pick.

The Restaurant is really clean. I ordered red Chilaquiles and those were tasty, if you like Chips and Guajillo sauce I asked for eggs on the top.. The tamales were ok. Btw the Horchata was really good!
