The museum isn’t cheap—$20 per person—but it offers a unique experience. Contemporary art reflects the reality we live in today, and it’s surprising. It may seem too simple at first glance, but as you look closer, you start to notice the depth and meaning behind each piece. The space itself is well-designed, creating a peaceful and thought-provoking atmosphere that enhances the experience.

We arranged a private tour on a Thursday, Andrea helped us with coordination and we were so thrilled to have this option. Gregg was our guide, we highly recommend him. The inside of the gallery is fantastic and equally matched with the grounds , garden, and stable area. Our minds are so full with all we saw and learned about. There is a beautiful area to sit if you bring a sandwich for a lunch break. Don’t forget to visit the donkeys! We will return to this very special place.

FIRSTLY, THIS MUSEUM IS NOT FREE. It costs $20. Secondly, I understand this is modern art — but this is some of the most rudimentary, thoughtless art I’ve ever seen in my life. You’d be better off getting artistic inspiration staring at your trash bin. Way over priced — the museum is so small for what it is — at least the gallery side. Just goes to show you anything is considered art.

This is my 2nd visit as I wanted to see the new pavilion and eat at their cafe. It takes probably less than an hour to go through both of the buildings. It’s contemporary Italian art which is interesting by to see and learn about. I love Italian design so everything is beautiful even the bathrooms! The new cafe is wonderful with indoor and patio seating. You order at the counter and they bring your food to you. The servers were excellent - warm, friendly and helpful. The food was so good! I had ravioli that had mint in the filling, and the flavor was wonderfully subtle and light. I also had their tiramsu, which was delicious, as well as pistachio dessert-like coffee. The burros are of course fun to look at and they have tree swings. This was a lovely way to spend my early day.

Only about an hour outside the city, this place is a hidden gem. Not only is the building itself beautiful and stunning but the gallery pieces and layout is unreal. The staff was very lovely and the actual food was fantastic! Highly recommend it

I love the museum, I have been there many times. But what I want to highlight here is the cafe. It’s called “cafe” but it’s in fact a delicious restaurant. I ate there several times and always ask for a portion of ravioli, among other things. The desserts are also amazing. Once I had a Panettone ice cream. I didn’t know such thing existed. So far, it was the best ice cream I ever had. Kudos also to Page, a museum guide who took the time to show me how a piece called Frost works. If you go to the museum, make sure to see it. It’s made of ice and it changes hue of white overtime, as it freezes. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Stunning architecture, if somewhat Brutalist. Very nice accent on outdoor pieces, and the indoor spaces extremely well suited to show art. The tram drivers are very knowledgeable, and convey a serious affection for the outside pieces. FREE.

With its minimalist exterior and sleek open aired interior, this gallery allows you to experience not only Italian art but also a beautiful view of the surrounding property. Don't forget to visit the café and the donkeys!

Yelp
I love this museum. It is worth visiting for the architecture alone. The beautiful light filled spaces are the perfect backdrop to any artwork that they choose to exhibit. Also right up the hill from the museum, you can visit a collection of donkeys. Don't miss this Hudson Valley gem.

Yelp
It is a nice well maintained minimalist art museum. All of the art in the museum are by Italian artists. The art itself somehow similar to Dia Beacon where it doesn't make sense until you read the explanation. To maintain the minimalist aesthetics there are no descriptions next to the art and you have to download their mobile guide. They have several galleries and if you walk around the premises you will find some cute donkeys. It is a bit random though seeing them. They have clean restroom inside the museum and outside near parking lot. We like the outside restroom where it is quiet, cool and you can sit before deciding where to go next. It is pay as you wish and fully air conditioned, a good choice to spend time and learn during one hot summer day.

Yelp
A delightful place to spend an afternoon and seem like you're super in the know, Magazzino is a tucked-away museum of modern Italian treasures tucked away on a nondescript road in the Hudson Valley. Though I probably wouldn't come up to Magazzino from NYC for a day trip on its own, it's great as part of a day's itinerary in the Hudson Valley, perhaps combined with a stop at Storm King or Dia:Beacon (you'll do a lot of driving). Currently, admission is free, and donations at the ticket desk will go to a charity; I made timed reservations ahead of time on their website and checking in was a breeze. Also, the bathrooms are extremely chic and roomy, and much of the museum seems to be wheelchair-accessible besides a few outdoor gravel areas. It was easy to find parking in their lot, and on a chillier fall day there were still plenty of people wandering the galleries. If you're into Italian modern/post-modern art, this is your jam. If not, you'll probably be kind of bored, and in that case, I'd recommend strolling the grounds outside and making your way up the path that goes up a hill to visit THE DONKEYS! There's a pack of sweet donkeys that live in a barn on the museum grounds, and they seem to enjoy a truly idyllic little commune (there's also another interesting art piece in their pen). They are extremely soft, and though the sign warns of possibly vicious behavior, I did not witness any of them attempt to kick anything!

Yelp
I drove down from the city to visit this place, It was great! I love that it isn't overwhelming like other museums in the city. The staff is friendly here.. it's so nice to walk around outside nearby the seating area. Clean and crisp air lol

Yelp
Great place to visit for some cool art exhibits. No admission fee, but donations go towards childrens hospitals in need. Going from left to right clockwise, you will see some really cool art and some weird ones, but theres something for everyone no matter what kind of tastes or style you like. The gallery is very clean and modern, yet sophisticated and chic. The place is well designed, even the bathroom looks so neat and modern (had to take a pic). There is parking if you are driving, but there is also a free shuttle bus from the train station.

Yelp
A gem of a museum in the Hudson valley. The exhibits capture a turbulent time in modern Italian history and there's a nice range of mediums from sculptures and neon installations to paintings and photographs. The surrounding nature frames the space so well and the glimpses of the trees and skies as you make your way through the museum are incredible. They have a special system for Covid times - you come at a pre-reserved time, get a temperature check, and a proximity sensor you wear which will beep if you come to close to someone else not in your party. Admission is free but donations are welcomed. There are bathrooms inside, but at the start, so you can't return to them after you pass. However, there are also bathrooms outside available for access.

Yelp
A marvelous place. Between a gallery and a museum. A petting zoo and a zen garden... a must go to !!!

Yelp
Magazzino is one of the truest gems of the Hudson Valley. I didn't know what I was walking into, and ended up spending the day learning from the marvelous, knowledgeable staff. Each gallery contained such interesting works that I feel so privileged to have seen. Not only are the pieces an honor to behold, but the architecture of Magazzino is astonishing. My visit was made complete by a lovely walk along the grounds and a visit to the Sardinian donkeys on site! I plan to visit regularly. Thank you, Magazzino Italian Art!
