Yelp
I found myself in Cape May on a nice afternoon and was really looking forward to a good coffee so I did a quick Yelp check. Magic Brain Cafe was just a few blocks away and had some great reviews so off I was.
The "cafe" is located in a small pedestrian mall filled with specialty shops and a few nice art galleries. When I entered Magic Brain Cafe it looked like it wasn't even open. Perhaps it was due to COVID that they had to remove the tables but the inside looked like a wreck. There was a shop vac in the middle of the floor and furniture and signs piled up against the wall.
Anyway, despite the mess I thought a decent cup of coffee was going to be had here based on all the positive reviews.
I approached the plexiglass barrier and perused the blackboard menu. No espresso option, no cortado option, nor a macchiato option. I don't drink milk so had to decide on a non-daily option and they had them all.
Coconut, oat (for a 70 cents up charge), soy, and almond. So, I decided to order a coconut milk latte.
The drink was $5 and I left $1 in the giant tip jar on the counter. I asked the barista how many shots were in my drink and he told me there is 2 in a medium. In 2 minutes my drink was ready. Unfortunately, it was not very good. The milk was flat (no froth) and I could barely taste a hint of espresso!
Maybe I came at a bad time or someone made a mistake making my drink but this was one of the worst coffees I've ever had. I'm sorry Magic Brain Cafe, maybe I'll try you again one day.
