Third time eating here and loved every single visit. The staff are friendly and efficient. Don always comes to say hello. In the past we've done the chicken and dumplings which are delicious and as is the fried chicken and every side we've tried. This visit we did the spring salad with grilled chicken. Had mixed greens, dried cranberries, grapes, strawberry, walnuts, feta, and chose the strawberry vinaigrette. Super fresh and delightful. And today we got to have Don's bologna burger which comes with cheese, lettuce, tomato, onion, cole slaw, and chili. Ordered it without chili but Don came by and convinced us to go with the chili. He says bologna is like hot dogs and if you go all the way on hot dogs then go all the way on the bologna burger. It was great but super messy. It's a first come first seated and you wait at the back of the restaurant for a seat. Worth stopping in for great food and lovely staff

The atmosphere was very beautiful and upscale. Our waitress was kind and on point. The owner walked around and spoke to everyone and it was a very welcoming environment. The food was good. Hands down the best fried chicken we have ever had!

I had an enjoyable lunch at Magnolia 23. Fried chicken was seasoned quite nicely, and the sides were excellent. When my companion and I arrived, there were several folks waiting, however, the wait to be seated was minimal, and the food came out very fast. Food was fresh, service was attentive and the atmosphere welcoming. I'd recommend a visit!

I drove 70 miles one way to dine for the first time. I ordered all white fried chicken, green beans, potato salad and cornbread. My beverage was sweet tea. Oh yes, I also got a slice of the butter pecan cake. The meal was absolutely superb!!! I will visit again but no time soon since it's a little far but this was my special treat. I did meet the owner- he was the most hospitable. The atmosphere reminded me of yesteryear in in my grandmother's dining room. The ambiance is great! Truly southern food at its best. My husband was a chef and I do know good food. Oh yes, the sanitation rating was very good for I noticed this where I go.😋

We stopped at this place on our way to Asheboro Zoo! There was some wait but once we got a table the service was prompt. This is as authentic Southern food as it gets, and one of the best fried chickens I have had!

Google
It was our first time and you have to wait until a waitress serves you, the waitress didn't even pay attention to us when we were "waiting in line confused if each one sits at their table or a waiter comes to give you your table" we had to ask and went back to the line, the food was good and the owner of the restaurant took a little of his time to ask if we had come before? and how was the food? and thanked us for coming to his restaurant, very kind and humble!

We love this place. The service is great and friendly. The best Southern food you will have. The fried chicken is delicious. Sometimes there is a wait but it will be worth it!

Google
The food was outstanding- every single thing. Being from Hudson, NY, it was such a treat! I will be traveling to the area on business and this will be my go to spot whenever I am in town. Don was absolutely wonderful and although they were very busy - he made time to welcome us and treat us like we were guests in his home. The hospitality was perfection and the food exceeded every expectation. Oh, the greens were to die for! See you soon! ❤️

Yelp
I went here for the Southern food, and they gave me a full serving of Southern hospitality on the side. I went on Sunday around lunch time, which means it was pretty busy, but the turnover was quick and I didn't have to wait as long as I thought I might. The menu was straightforward, but everything on it was really solid. I went with the fried chicken. They have a very wide variety of sides, all southern. I enjoyed every dish. The service was prompt and friendly. I was alone because I came by motorcycle, yet they still gave me a table, even though they could have saved it for a larger group. The menu is seasonal, so the next time I'm in Asheboro, I want to try them again

Yelp
The food was absolutely amazing and would definitely recommend it to anyone! The ambience and service was incredible and as expected. The owner talked with us while we were eating and was a very kind and sweat hearted gentleman who truly cares about his customers. 10/10 would recommend!!

Yelp
Today we found ourselves in the Asheboro area and my wife did a quick search of our Yelp bookmarks and remembered she had bookmarked Magnolia 23 at one time. She quickly looked at their hours and saw they open at 11am on Sunday's (closed Saturday's, and Monday-Wednesday). She remembered all the love Magnolia 23 receives so she called even though it was before 11am to see if reservations were required. Lucky for us someone answered and he confirmed they do not take reservations and tables are seated first come, first serve. Our directions told us we would arrive within 5 minutes of opening, so we made our way there. We easily found 2-hour street parking available and later learned there is a parking lot immediately out the back door (which is actually the preferred entrance). Once we parked we headed to the entrance on South Fayetteville St. The building itself is very cozy and charming from the outside and my wife quickly showed me the outdoor area which is equally as charming and feels very southern. We walked in through the door and were immediately greeted by the owner, Don. He was welcoming and gracious even though we later saw a sign on the front door requesting that guests use the back door for entering and exiting. We suspect this allows for people seated at the front of the restaurant not to be crowded or interrupted by guests arriving and exiting. At the rear entrance there are restrooms and a small hallway which is out of the way of the customers seated. Don pointed us to the back of the restaurant and asked us to check in with another gentleman. The restaurant is long and narrow and we could easily make our way to the gentleman. As we walked to the back we could see most of the tables were occupied and they had just opened. We told him we had a party of two and he took us to a small table. We immediately fell in love with the place, it was comfortable, cozy and you could tell that for most people they were very familiar with Don, Doris and their team. We saw chalkboard menus at three locations throughout the restaurant and when our server arrived to take our drink orders we inquired and she told us their full menu was on the chalkboards. Today they offered five entrees, fried chicken with either white or dark meat, baked tenderloin with dressing and gravy, chuck roast, stew beef and Kansas City ribs. All meals are served with your choice of two sides (collards, cabbage, green beans, black eye peas, crowder peas, mashed potatoes, potato salad, mac and cheese, basked apples, rice, slaw, pintos, limas, yams and fatback) and either a roll or corn bread. We intended to take a picture of one of the boards but when we stood up to leave there was a large line of people and we couldn't easily stop and take a picture. We later found a picture of the menu on their Facebook page so we are including that as well. Our server stopped back in with our drink orders and asked us if we were ready to order. My wife decided on the fried chicken with white meat, and chose green beans and yams for her sides with a corn muffin. I decided on the stew beef with green beans, mac n cheese and a roll. We commented to each other that their concept of offering a smaller menu with a handful of entree choices and 10-15 sides along with a handful of desserts is brilliant. Don stopped in at our table and we enjoyed chatting with him. He told us that Magnolia 23 has been in business since 2009. My wife commented she had seen the article in Our State magazine and he was quick to point us to a picture on the wall which showed them featured in Southern Living and other magazines as well. It is clear he is proud of what he and his wife has done and it shows. The interior of the restaurant including the bathrooms is neat and clean and we noticed a sanitation rating of 95.5. Our meals arrived in a timely manner and looked incredible. They were piping hot and we dug in. We enjoyed each and every bite, it was cooked and seasoned perfectly. The town of Asheboro looks to be a special place and Magnolia 23 is a staple within the community. We also decided to order a fried apple pie served warm and our server offered us ice cream with it to which we quickly replied, "yes". It also arrived in a timely manner and tasted delicious. Like we said, when we left there was a large line of people waiting to be seated and we believe we overheard an estimated 30 minute wait. We lucked out today and timed it just right. We will absolutely be back and wish Don and Doris and their team continued success.

Yelp
Another one of my Asheboro go tos! Check the hours before you visit because they do close between lunch and dinner and are only open a few days a week. Very southern charmish. They are always packed but the service is good and they get your food out to you in a reasonable amount of time. I've only dined in once, all my orders have been to go. Today, I had my 5 year old grandson with me. We entered through the front door to order take out but if you want to dine in you need to enter through the back door to be seated. We ordered fried chicken(dark) Mac and cheese, green beans and roll for my grandson and I had the chuck roast, collards, crowder peas, and cornbread. I also took some desserts with me, sweet potato pie, banana pudding, and strawberry nut cake. While we waited for our food, my grandson and I explored the outside area. There is definitely much more space out than in. Needs a little yard maintenance but would be great for a summer or early fall Sunday dinner with the family. Once again, I'm driving food from Asheboro to High Point. When we got home, I made my grandson a plate from the fried chicken plate and it was more than enough for him and for me to get a sample. Good food. Imagine grandma's Sunday dinner after church and this is what you will get from Magnolia. Chicken tastes like it was fried in fresh oil in a cast iron skillet. Green beans are seasoned, and Mac and cheese is baked. Chuck roast was tender and reference that of short ribs, could use a little seasoning but the beefy flavor made it tasteful. Fresh collard, not over cooked or oily. Crowder peas tender. Corn bread was a great combination with this plate. The sweet potato pie will remind you of Thanksgiving. Banana pudding was okay. Strawberry nut cake was good. Overall, if you're looking for a place to have some good southern food, this is it.

Yelp
We stopped in on a rainy Sunday for some good home cooking and Magnolia 23 certainly delivered on that! While their hood was broken so we didn't get to eat any of their famous fried chicken, what we did get was top notch and felt like it was coming out of your grandmothers kitchen. We got the Kansas City ribs which were fall off the bone perfection and the sauce overtop was amazing. We also got the chicken and dumplings and these were as good as any other chicken and dumplings we have ever had. Tasty, cooked perfectly. Can't complain about a thing! Our sides were also amazing, especially the collard greens and sweet potatoes. Our waitress was over the top friendly which we always enjoy when dining out. She catered to our every need and we are super grateful for her energy. I think the best thing about our visit was that the owner, Don, was visiting every table for a chat. Whether it was asking if it was their first time dining with them or catching up with regular patrons, it was so nice to see an owner taking pride in his business, as he should! These guys won best of Asheboro durinf Eat Drink Restaurant week and we will certainly be back when we are in the area!

Yelp
Good food with a down home charm. The service was prompt and courteous. This is a high volume restaurant so get there early.

Yelp
This was the best dinner of our trip and I already plan to visit them again when I am back in Seagrove in March! Downtown Asheboro- we parked on the street and crossed over to Magnolia 23- we got there just after they opened and they were already busy! Our B&B host recommended them for good southern comfort food and they delivered!!! We also overheard other guests brag that the fried chicken was the best they had ever tasted! Sold!!! I gleefully ordered the fried chicken plate with green beans and yams. John got the steak and gravy plate and we ended up also taking chicken and dumplings with us to go! I regret not having enough room for dessert! The iced tea was delicious, the food just deliciously done! The prices- wow, I was thrilled to get a scrumptious meal for a great price! Service was stellar and I loved that the owner comes by and checks on the tables! They thought we had been there before and I teased the owner that it must be me they are mistaking- but who else out there has teal hair!!! Apparently my doppleganger is in that area- the owner insisted there is a woman who looks just like me- short hair, bright colors! Too funny. He had me put a pin in his map to show we were from Jacksonville, FL. Just good food, good people and a wonderful small business! Loved every minute and every bite!

Yelp
Excellent fried chicken and collards. Tasty persimmon pudding for dessert. Friendly service and comfortable ambiance. Owner came out to our table and welcomed us as first time customers. Will return. Highly recommend. High star rating is well deserved.

Lauren H.

Yelp
Delicious home cooking... this place is a true gem. While it's a small location and parking isn't super convenient it is absolutely worth it. The owner greeted us and was so kind to get us settled in. Everything at the table came out quickly, HOT, and seasoned to perfection.

Esmeralda V.

Yelp
The food is great and so is the staff very friendly and fast service. Will definitely be going back.

Yelp
Before coming to Asheboro, I did a little research on places to eat and this place consistently came up and the reviews were good. My husband and I arrived right at 5pm & parked our back and came through the back door. This place is super cute and quant, we waited less than a minute to be seated and our server came over with 3 minutes. We both got the sweet tea and I ended going with the fried chicken plate, yams, greens and cornbread. The star of the show to me was the greens, they were perfectly cooked and seasoned very well. My husband got the meatloaf with smothered potatoes and rice/gravy. We both agreed that the cornbread was just ok but everything else was phenomenal. The owner came over and saw that my husband wasn't given the sauce that went with the meatloaf and promptly brought some over. However I will say, even without the sauce the meatloaf was a good 6 but that sauce made it 8 in my eyes. We finished off the meal with the fried apple pie, my husband loved it but it wasn't sweet enough for me... I have a real sweet tooth. All in all this place was very welcome and every seat in the place was packed. Our food once ordered came out in under 10 minutes and was all steaming hot (minus the cornbread). The owner Don came over numerous times to chat with us about life and the food, he was super nice and very welcoming. I highly recommend this place to anyone wanting some good yummy soul food. My plate ratings: Chicken: 7.6 Yams: 7.3 Greens: 9.5 Cornbread: 3 Fried pie: 4 Sweet Tea: 7.2 Service: 8

S W.

Yelp
Excellent food and excellent service. I stopped by for lunch at the recommendation of a friend. I had a vegetable plate with cornbread. I'll be back.

Angela A.

Yelp
Quaint spot in downtown with great service and a variety of options on the menu. Good southern feel for some down south food.

Mahogany L.

Yelp
Anytime I want chicken and dumplings. This is where I'm getting it from! They have the best. Also the lemonade with the cubes inside.!!

Tonya C.

Yelp
Wait!!!!!! Why haven't I been here before!?!? (Other than the fact it's almost 30min from home) IT TASTES LIKE GRANNY's HOUSE! This lunch really took me back. Don and Doris are the sweetest!! They greet and thank each customer as they visit each table to make sure you're okay. The menu changes daily, but lunch and dinner are the same options. The fried chicken was just like Grandma used to make. Crispy and not greasy; you can taste the love. The collard greens were ON POINT! When I say that, I mean they were tender, with a light sweetness, no large stems, just PERFECT! The potato salad was great, not mushy, slight sweetness from the sweet relish. The cornbread was not the jiffy box type. It's the homemade style with cornmeal. The sweet tea isn't over sweet and mixed with the lemonade was a perfect Arnold Palmer. I can't wait to return!!!!! The owners treat you like family and it's like walking into 'family's' house, sitting down for a meal.

Audrey O.

Yelp
Outstanding southern comfort food experience. Family owned and operated. Great fried chicken, Mac n' cheese, collards, green beans, corn bread and butter pecan cake!

Kesha T.

Yelp
Food is amazing especially the award winning fried chicken. The place is small and cozy, reminds you of a small father gathering. The service is great. Fast and attentive.

Carrie J.

Yelp
Absolutely incredible! We stopped by on our way back to Charlotte and not only was the food top notch but the hospitality was hard to beat. The owner, Don, checked on us no less than 4 times. We tried the fried chicken, brisket, Mac and cheese, mashed potatoes and green beans - everything was ridiculously delicious!

Fran G.

Yelp
What a treat! Go for the fried chicken, stay for the apple cobbler! It's clear that out of towners use the front door and locals use the back by the size of the line waiting to get in the back door. We had the pleasure of meeting Don. A gem of a man who will make sure to come by your table to welcome you, check on you and thank you. Small in size but big on flavor with a limited everything homemade menu. Give it a try, you won't regret it.

Lennon T.

Yelp
Finally made it to Magnolia 23 and the food was as good as advertised. The owner met us outside to show us our table and the service was great. The food was excellent southern cooking. The best fried chicken and collard greens around. Do yourself a favor if you haven't been and please stop by

James M.

Yelp
Visited on Mother's Day and was super surprised we were seated as fast as we were, and despite the crowd our service was superb. Our food arrived hot and relatively quick, exactly how we wanted it. The Menu is on a chalkboard, my sister who is a regular told us the sides are usually the same, and fried chicken (a favorite) is always on the board. We had a party of (4) - We had (2) Fried Chickens, a Turkey & Dressing, and the Porkchops. The Fried Chicken was everything it was rumored to be - Amazing !!! My wife let me nibble on hers, I wish I would have ordered the Fried Chicken. I had Turkey, which was good, but the Chicken was better. My Brother said the Porkchop was good, but slightly dry, said he should have also done the chicken. The sides were very good, we had it all, the yams, mashed potatoes, collards, white beans, and cornbread. The sweet tea was Southern good, and our mason jar was never empty. Overall, a 5 Star Experience and will be back on our next visit to North Carolina.

C P.

Yelp
Appreciated the warm and friendly welcome (including the owner). Good southern homestyle food..had fried chicken, collards and potatoes and ended with coconut cake! Prices reasonable and food came in minutes. Tip...may look closed from front but don't be discouraged..it is!

Kevin S.

Yelp
Jennifer awakened me. She's the best darn server ever. Food was okay. Jenny really does a fantabulous job and needs a raise.

Alisha J.

Yelp
So, #SuperHubs and I wanted to try a new place for date night last night, and we were told about this little gem a few weeks ago. So, we gave it a shot. When I use the words "little gem", I mean them quite literally. Without trusty GPS, I never would've even seen the place tucked into its little hole, but let me also reiterate the "gem" part. There was about a 20 minute wait before we were able to be seated, and within that time frame, while we were waiting, there were three people who walked out with to-go boxes and said that it is worth the wait. After our meal, I am in complete agreement! Mercy, if you like home-cooked, southern food, this place will not disappoint! If you have not been there before, you would not know that there is parking in the back of the restaurant. Since we did not know that we had to find a place on the street and walked in the front door. After waiting only a minute or two the owner came to us and asked us if we would please walk through the restaurant and to the back of the line that was waiting in the back. We did, and the people were super friendly as we walked past. As I said before, we had to wait about 20 minutes in this line before we were seated. The wait wasn't too bad since we were able to peruse some pictures that they had on the walls. I do believe these pictures showcased the family that is responsible for the restaurant. When we were able to be seated, the owner of the restaurant actually took our drink order and talked to us for a little while before the waitress was able to come and take our order. #SuperHubs was ordered the country style steak and gravy while I got the fried chicken. All of the food was delicious, although I did get a little miffed that they were out of the Hershey's cake, lol. But that will give me a good reason to go back someday. And let me say that I will definitely be going back.

Stephanie P.

Yelp
The food, service and atmosphere were all top notch. We came for the Seagrove Pottery Celebration and found this gem about 15 minutes away. We felt right at home and even made friends while waiting in line and joined them for dinner. Good southern soul food. Get here early! Worth the wait!!

Talula C.

Yelp
I enjoy Magnolia. The food is good and the service is good. I like the owner and his family/staff. There is a friendly down-home ambiance to the experience that is very pleasant. I prefer to eat vegetables, and I am always pleased with the selections.

T D.

Yelp
Food and service are both outstanding. Their fried chicken is the best. I highly recommend Magnolia 23!!

Scott H.

Yelp
Magnolia 23 is a quaint, eclectic place that has fantastic "home-cooked" food. The owner told me not to ask if he used pork in cooking because "that is home-cooking." Whatever he uses, it works. A sign inside says they have been voted the 57th best fried chicken in the nation. My wife had that chicken, and she said it was the best she has ever had. I had the fried pork chop, and it was also excellent. We both had vegetables that were hot, fresh, and fantastic. We finished our meals with dessert. She had blackberry cobbler, and I had Hershey bar cake. Again, they were great. One thing that sets apart Magnolia 23 is the owner. He is out and about meeting and talking with the guests. It adds a great personal touch that's missing in most places. The menu changes daily and is posted on chalkboards throughout the restaurant. When something runs out, they simply erase it from the board. They offer outside dining as well; however, due to the weather, we chose to eat inside. I think this is our new favorite place to go. Well done!

Ashley W.

Yelp
Very cute restaurant with good home cooking. The server was sweet and helpful. Food was delivered quickly and was fresh! I'm not a huge fried chicken person but it was delicious. I would highly recommend!

Barbara T.

Yelp
Best fried chicken I've had since I left my parent's home in 1972! Southern style Veggies are delicious too! Highly recommend. Owners are very friendly with their warm southern hospitality

Jackie E.

Yelp
Love the fried chicken, the atmosphere and staff. Definitely get there early but worth the wait.

Cara R.

Yelp
We were in the car way longer than planned today. My son wanted macaroni and cheese and this looked like the spot. We walked up to the door and it said they closed at 8 which was 15 min away. We turned to leave and a gentleman I would guess to be the owner said no no no you stopped were gonna feed you. I felt bad but felt better about it as 4 more tables came in after us!! This place is beyond adorable inside and out. They have the cutest outdoor area with string lights and picnic tables and the inside is a nicely decorated comfy chic. The menu is on a chalkboard and I would guess they make everything that day and cross it off as they run out (no Mac &cheese:(). There was a few meats to choose from and a plethora of sides. I had fried chicken that came with 2 side (collards & yams) both delicious and corn bread $10. Definitely give them some business if you stop into town!

Jacob M.

Yelp
Excellent food. The fried chicken was the best I've had in a long while! Quaint, home style ambiance with friendly and attentive staff and service. The owner stopped by every table and thanked us for our business. Will be going again for sure.

Donald H.

Yelp
Excellent southern soul food cuisine. Quckly seated during a busy lunch hour. Speedy service after being seated. I enjoyed my meal of delicious smothered frie chicken. collards and candy Yams. Washed it all down with a cold glass of sweet ice tea.

Laura C.

Yelp
I have mixed feelings about this location because the staff was super friendly, the place itself was beautiful, I didn't take a look inside but the patio we were in was lovely. It is a shame the food was a complete disappointment for us, we had the fried chicken which I only ate bits because it wasn't very flavorful, the mac and cheese had a lot of fat which made it difficult to digest, my boyfriend had the ribs and it wasn't the best either, the peas looked and tasted like they came straight out of a can. Honestly, the corn bread was the best among the other plates. Luckily for us it wasn't expensive at all but I would definitely wouldn't mind paying a bit more if it takes for them to increase the quality of their dishes. Unfortunately I don't plan to visit again, it is a lovely location, their food just isn't as good but I'm sure they can better this in the future.

Dina K.

Yelp
We stopped in on our way through town. Absolutely the best restaurant! Food was perfect, so delicious. Fried chicken was moist, perfectly cooked with the most amazing seasoning. Every side we had was delicious. Mac and cheese and green beans were my selections and homemade and tasty! Fresh and amazing food. The service was excellent. Friendly, quick, and a visit by the owner to check on us. We had a wonderful conversation about Main Street USA and the importance to our country. The inside of the restaurant is beautifully set up and quaint. Thank you Don, Doris and team for a wonderful lunch and conversation!

Katie F.

Yelp
Comfort food at its best. Fried chicken, Mac n cheese, and mashed potatoes for the win! Family owned! Great stop on our way through on a Sunday afternoon!

Rebecca L.

Yelp
We went to the NC zoo today but we did not eat in the zoo. Let's be honest, the food is never good so I found us a restaurant in Asheboro (about 12 minutes away) for lunch - keep your zoo receipt for reentry. We went to #magnolia23 and it did not disappoint. I'm still filling thinking about their juicy fried chicken. I'm a dark meat girl, I find it more flavorful and tender. Matt likes white meat for 'health' reasons. Either way, you will not be disappointed because they were tender and juicy. The skin was well seasoned and crispy. Each platter comes with 2 pieces of chicken and 2 sides. The collard greens were so good and the yams tasted like Thanksgiving. The green beans were seasoned and did not taste super soggy like canned beans. The slaw was crunchy and a good texture contrast to the chicken and beans. CONFESSION, I ordered 2 more pieces of chicken...so I ate half a chicken at lunch I blame it on breastfeeding and walking a ton at the zoo. We ordered Elizabeth rice and gravy. The gravy was so good with the fried chicken too. Please do yourself a favor and head here for lunch (if you go to the zoo or Asheboro)!

Jessica O.

Yelp
Stop looking for other places to eat and come here!!! The staff was beyond friendly and welcoming!! Beautiful southern decorations!! Amazing mouth watering food that makes you feel at home. 10 out of 10!!!

CordeliaGrey A.

Yelp
We have been here maybe 3 times. The first time was spectacular. The second and third we had a lot of issues with. Some food is only available on certain days, which is fun and unique, but with a picky eater in the family hard to plan for. Their kids menu is super limited. The seating inside is cramped, and we were told two out of three times that either we couldn't sit outside, or they were too understaffed to accommodate us outside. It's a shame because their outdoor seating area is just beautiful. The staff was depressed/stressed out both of the last two times we went, which came off as just not treating us with great service. We will try to come again someday and hopefully have a better experience. But we've definitely considered it and choose somewhere else several times because of these issues.

Katherine S.

Yelp
Had a wonderful lunch and already thinking about my next visit. A friend and I both got the fried chicken plate. Our plates came with a thigh and drum stick with 2 sides. I ordered mac & cheese and green beans. My friend had the collard greens and potato salad. Everything was wonderful, especially the chicken. It also came with a choice of cornbread or a roll. We both had corn bread. Looking forward to coming again. Would love to try dinner another time. The service was great. The owner came by twice to see how everything was, and waitress did as well. The price was great too. Ten dollars for the chicken lunch plate (2 pieces of dark meat with 2 sides). Come check it out!

Mark K.

Yelp
Great food, friendly and attendant staff, and wonderful scenery. You can't make a bad choice, all the food is delicious. I love that the owner came by and greeted us too.

Ronda S.

Yelp
My husband and I were headed home from a retreat and were in Asheboro at lunchtime. My boss had taken his wife to this quaint restaurant several months ago and recommended it to me. We were greeted and seated by the owner and he thanked us for choosing to eat there. Our waitress was attentive and sweet. My husband ordered the fried chicken (dark meat) with collard greens and sautéed cabbage. i ordered the Reuben sandwich, potato salad, and collard greens. Everything was served quickly and was quite tasty. My only complaint was that the meat for the Reuben was thick-sliced and kind of hard to eat, but the flavor was great. We shared a hand pie that was at the register where you paid. It was also very good. Everything tasted so fresh! Definitely recommend!

Yelp
Love this place, great food, better service and huge portions. Same specials every day and Wednesdays is Chicken Fried Steak, best in town! Nice selection of desserts as well.

Yelp
Drive into town and found this in yelp, the food was amazing and the owners great you and thank you for coming in, good ole southern hospitality! Be aware that the city doesn't help them with parking but the food is worth the walk.

Yelp
Had high expectations for this place after seeing all the awards and accolades they have received. Needless to say we were very disappointed. Everything was old reheated, dry, borderline cafeteria food and the service was not good.

Yelp
My goodness- what a find! We were there when they opened at 5, and within minutes the place was packed. The menu is fairly limited and written on chalkboards - but the fried chicken and sides were absolutely delicious! The owner was a true gem - he walked around and talked to each table. They have a map and he asked us to "pin" our hometown. There were pins all over the US, so I guess the word is out about the little chicken place in Greensboro! We were in town on business... but we'll be sure to come back when we're in the area!

Yelp
Terrific lunch spot. Great fried chicken, pasta salad and green beans. Outdoor dining has nice shade to protect from the heat. Good atmosphere with Motown music playing. The owner was kind and came over to introduce himself and made sure it was a good experience. This is a great stop.

Yelp
Good morning we decided to visit Magnolia 23 after I watched episode on NC Weekend. The food is truly southern. Plenty of dishes to choose from. I had the fried chicken and gravy and my wife had tenderloin and gravy. All of our sides were seasoned well and very good. This place had plenty of parking and very down-home feel to the restaurant inside. I would definitely recommend this place the service was great and the cooks and staff were very friendly.
