How to Celebrate Juneteenth in Detroit | Eater Detroit

"The 11th-annual family-focused Juneteenth event at this neighborhood park includes food, live music, games, a Father's Day tug-of-war, and a Mr./Ms. Juneteenth pageant across an afternoon-to-evening schedule." - Monica Williams

I’ll give this place 4 stars for location. It’s a decent park with a lot of potential. It’s tucked away off of Jefferson rather close to the points. I saw one porto potty in terms of facilities. It appears there’s been some recent cleanup, however this park certainly hasn’t been taken care of & needs some TLC. personally I wish it had a better place to launch kayaks & paddle boards. I found one makeshift area that worked…just get ready to get dirty getting in & out. The day I went out there a big event was going on…it was crazy how bad people were parking. Eventually the Sherifs came out to help control. This park is at an interesting location as it’s near the Detroit canals & as a starting point for kayaks. Within walking distance is a cool restaurant & outdoor expedition adventure spot (to rent kayaks & other water craft). The canals are interesting to check out too. I simply gave 3 stars because a lot of TLC is needed. Overall still very cool.

So relaxing. When the weather is nice I come just to be by the water. Cute bridges, picnic tables and playground equipment. It's quite large and there's an area with built in exercise equipment. Very nice. I hope it stays this way. What a great place.

Well.....ahhhh, today was my 1st time going, and not was for 2nd annual African Cultural festival. After driving through a massive cloud of marijuana smoking, trap music, and consistent alcohol consumption...I was able to see and enjoy her true beauty of the park! The river, ponds, the trees were breath taking! The grass was so soft it felt like cotton and down feathers combined! The children playing, rolling down the hill, brought an endless smile to my face!

The park was nice and clean, secluded from the city with a wonderful view! The bathrooms were clean and functional and the everything was safe. I will visit again. Very family friendly park

Need to trim the bushes on part of the walkway or whatever. But peaceful and beautiful.

Smelled like marijuana. Seemed a bit chaotic. We shared a picnic area with a young man and his two female companions, one who was showing way too much for the public that has kids playing. But the group I was with made it somehow... Feel ok.

Yelp
Wonderful park - views, sports fields, playground, even a little island. If it weren't for the loud terrible music being blared from every car it would be great!

Yelp
It's a park. It has basketball courts, a baseball diamond, a play area for the kids. But it also has a lot of glass to swerve around while navigating through. Cleaner roads, please?

Yelp
Look at what God has done for the Lower Eastside! Our very own Maheras Gentry Park is beautiful. We here at WOWMinistries, Inc. has chosen to make this our family and community works park. Come out and join us as we bring in the Spring with many family events! Fishing, planting and just loving the nature and fresh air. Let's show Michigan that Detroit loves our Parks!
