The Best Restaurants in Sugar Land, Texas | Eater Houston

"This restaurant offers a modern take on Indian cuisine with flavors sourced directly from South Asia. Beyond traditional dishes like palak paneer, Goan fish, and lamb curry, find inventive dishes like tandoori chicken tikki naan pizza and mango habanero salmon. Too hot to handle? Cool your palate with one of the restaurant’s renowned cocktails or its non-alcoholic drinks, including its creamy mango lassi." - Brianna Griff

The only impressive thing about this restaurant is its ambiance — the décor and setup are definitely eye-catching and give the illusion of a fine-dining experience. Unfortunately, that’s where the luxury ends. The food is extremely overrated and far from what they’re trying to showcase as “premium.” The flavors are mediocre at best, and presentation alone can’t make up for the lack of taste or quality. What made it worse was the untrained staff — they struggled to pronounce the dishes correctly and had no idea about the ingredients or menu details when asked. For a place that positions itself as upscale, this was very disappointing. Overall, it’s a one-time visit for the ambiance only — not worth the hype or the price.

Had dinner tonight at Mahesh’s Kitchen. The ambience is modern and clean-lined, with a full bar and a relaxed but elevated vibe. Ordered: Mango Lassi (excellent, rich and smooth), Avocado Bhel (fresh, crunchy, tangy), Paneer Shashlik (well-grilled paneer with vegetables), Paneer Makhani Curry (creamy tomato gravy classic), Mushroom Masala (well-prepared), Garlic Naan, Lacchedaar Paratha (layered paratha), Butter Roti. Everything was well-paced, the flavours were clean and confident, spice level balanced (I asked for medium). Service was attentive. If you’re looking for a fine-dine Indian meal in the Houston/Stafford area this is a strong choice. I’ll definitely return.

We went in for an early dinner and as soon as the door opened it smelt amazing. The serving sizes are perfect for family style sharing. We ordered a naan pizza and lamb saagwala. And the garlic naan was amazing. The staff was friendly and attentive. We will be back.

The food was wonderful. Finesse in presentation and atmosphere. Butter curry was rich and flavorful. It would have been nice if they serve with rice, but you have to order it separately.

We celebrated my cousin’s 25th wedding anniversary at Mahesh’s Kitchen, and it was a wonderful experience from start to finish. The food was absolutely delicious—fresh, flavorful, and perfectly prepared. Every dish was a hit with our family and guests. The décor was beautifully done and created such a warm, festive atmosphere, making the celebration feel extra special. The staff was attentive, accommodating, and ensured everything ran smoothly throughout the event. Mahesh’s Kitchen is the perfect place for family celebrations and special occasions. Highly recommend for great food, lovely décor, and memorable experiences!

Great Indian restaurant, new branch in Stafford. I received a warm welcome and friendly service, the food was also good with large portions (many vegetarian choices), think one entree easily serves two. Beers are reasonably priced. Upscale environment (white tablecloths).

Google
Family and I recently had the pleasure of dining at Mahesh’ Kitchen and it was a flavorful journey through the heart of Indian cuisine!! The restaurant strikes a perfect balance between modern aesthetics and traditional Indian decor, comfortable seating, and subtle Indian music in the background created a welcoming and relaxed atmosphere. The staff was courteous and attentive. The highlight, of course, was the food. We tried their buffet and they had a great amount of different dishes. Totally recommend this place!

Yelp
I liked this place overall. They do a lunch buffet. A couple of standard dishes like chicken tikka masala and palak paneer. They have what looks like a mini samosa chaat area. What surprised me was their chicken. The chicken inside the Tikka Masala was a little dry, but their tandoori chicken was definitely juicy and flavorful. Garlic Naan was better than most restaurants I've tried. Gulab jamun and chai for dessert. Overall a pretty standard Indian buffet with a few pleasant variations. Service was above par. Would come again.

Yelp
Food and staff were terrific for our large group from work! Lots of food choices for the group to choose from.

Yelp
I am glad to see an Indian restaurant that offers buffet, and I was excited to try for lunch, but somehow the lunch buffet did not meet my expectations. I find that there is a good variety of entree, but the taste is quite mild. The only items I really enjoyed were the garlic naan and the palak paneer. There was also not much customers during lunchtime. When I was there, it was me and two other tables. The restaurant is beautifully designed and decorated, but the food needs much improvement for the price. Staff were great and helped whenever needed though.

Yelp
Went there twice. I took a guest in one of those times. Everyone was happy with the food. It was quiet, not many customers since it had opened recently. But if you are looking for a clean, decent restaurant with great Indian food, this is the place. They have both spicy and mild varieties of dishes.

Yelp
I was there just before close time but the hostess was nice and let me come in and was cheerful despite I was delaying them. So it's a 5/5 for that. The let down was good as the buffet was absolutely average and not up to the standard of a premium restaurant and high price.

Yelp
Service was inattentive. There were only two other occupied tables in in the restaurant Ordered a drink and dinner and finally walked up to the bar to ask for my drink. He had to get off his chair and then realize the ticket had been printed. He did make my drink a double to make up for it which was nice. The lamb cops were over cooked but at least seasoned nicely. My Server checked on me once when I was almost done with my meal. Otherwise, I would've sent the food back to be recooked.

Yelp
Stumbled in for lunch. The buffet was a bit lack luster for me. The food quality just was nothing expectation for the area. There are some great Indopak places nearby (Aga, Savoy, Kahari Boys, etc) that have complex flavors, good spice, and can be had adorably. Service was not great at all but maybe there was a language barrier with myself and others with me. Ambiance was a strange vibe. The place was decorated like a formal or wedding but the artwork didn't belong and the music was off. I'd be surprised if they're still open without a major menu overhaul. I can forgive service and ambiance for great food at a great price; this was neither.

Yelp
*** EXTREMELY DISAPPOINTED *** We had planned to meet up and try the new location for Mahesh's in the fountains as they had advertised a new buffet for this week. Everyone was really looking forward to meeting up and luckily I got there first and was informed that they would be closed for a private event. I had to quickly inform all my family members who were coming in from different places that we would need a Plan B. We called Bombay Brasserie and they were more than accommodating and we were able to enjoy a great family buffet. Mahesh's needs to stop fake advertising and then be closed when people actually show up. DO NOT RECOMMEND!! And NOT a very good impression for an opening!! DO BETTER MAHESH.....

Yelp
We tried chicken curry and mutton curry with bullet naan, garlic naan. All was ok except mutton curry which was not cooked fully.
