Mahi Taco

I absolutely love these fish tacos! The best I've ever had. The coleslaw pairs well with everything! The pulled pork taco are my absolute favorite! Jeff really knows his way around the kitchen! Absolutely a MUST try! 10/10 would recommend! 😘👌

Located in a comfortable spot near covered seating in a sea shantytown type atmosphere. Arcade on site, bathrooms, great for a date, kids, or just to enjoy an afternoon. Try the sauces!!! Tacos and sliders are a must!!!

For context, I am from Texas so I have had a wide array of tacos and can confirm: Mahi Taco has the best tacos I have had in Portland. The tacos from Mahi Taco are very flavorful, balanced harmoniously, and use quality ingredients. Their salsas are pointed, delicious, and have clean flavors that elevate your experience! And like the food is actually seasoned so well, like it is actually legit seasoned. You know when you go to places and they say it is blackened but it’s not. No, that is not the case here. Actually very well-seasoned. If you are/or have been to Texas, this is place is like Torchy’s but better. The ingredients here are better, the flavors are better, and the salsas are way way better. Overall, fresher and more elevated! I almost gave up on my taco search in Portland because I was getting disappointed especially since I’ve had a lot of amazing tacos in Texas. Mahi Taco gave me hope and changed my mind about Portland tacos. Please come here, it is actually so good!!!! I don’t say that lightly :) very yum!

Go here if you want a flavor explosion in your mouth. The mahi is good but the kalua pork takes the prize (it’s smoked), and vegans/vegetarians should be excited about the fried avocado. The sides are fine, no need to go crazy with getting all three although my 2 taco plate did come with them.

My absolute favorite fish taco spot!! I’ve been a regular for the last two years and get Mahi Taco nearly every week. I’ve tried everything on the menu and would get it ALL over again. Freshest fish I’ve had in Portland and incredible flavors for an affordable price!

These tacos are incredibly tasty! We had the grilled mahi, blackened shrimp, huli huli chicken, and kalua pork tacos and all of them were absolutely delicious!

Grilled mahi tacos were super good, not fishy. The ingredients were fresh and crisp. Good price also. I will be going back here.

love love love, these tacos, Jeff makes the best Hawaiian inspired tacos, from fish, fried avocado, chicken, "my favorite," pork, rice, Mac salad and coslaw. All his food is fresh and made with love. He also sells his custom tie died shirts. Voted one of the best food carts in Portland by Willamette Weekly, if you have not had his tacos, then you need to try them.

Had a hankering for fish tacos and this cart did not disappoint. I'll definitely be back.

I shared the 3 taco plate with my cousin and o...m...g.... The fried avocado was SO GOOD. I still think about it! Perfectly crispy, creamy, flavorful, and of course full of the magical essence of avo. The pork was really great too, but I don't remember it too much. Really, nothing compares to that fried avocado... My cousin had the mahi taco and she said it was super tasty! I tried two of the salsas. The green was good but the habanero was incredible. Too bad most of it spilled into the basket (our fault) and I didn't want to out them another splash of it. But I made due with what we could save, and I'll be dreaming about it until the next time I come by for the fried avocado taco...

Great spot for some island style tacos. I've tried all the tacos and pork sliders as well. The flour tortillas have just the perfect amount of char and crunch to them. You can choose natural or blackened, blackened is the way to go. Great value here, I usually spend about $10 and leave full and satisfied.

Best fish taco I've had in my life! We randomly found this stand in the piedmont food cart and didn't expect to strike gold here. The owner is super chill and has great service. I'd definitely recommend checking it out if you want a great taco and a great vibe.

We visit this pod once a week or so...and have a bunch of favorites here, so easy! But we never tried Mahi Taco. After all, what could be differentiated about a taco truck taco? We tried it for the first time, and seriously, it may be the best taco we have ever had!! We will likely never have another trip to Piedmont food cart pod without a trip to Mahi Taco! The tortilla was amazing, crispy, and ingredients divine - check out the photo! Also, even if most other places are closed, this guy seems to be open more often and later than most others. So that Monday night craving? Yep...

we've been coming to this cart for yrs, all thru the pandemic too....we shared 3 mahi tacos and they were superb as usual...the man is so nice and the food doesn't take very long....it's fun at this food cart pod with so many choices.....it's very relaxing too with creative carts/eating areas with this converted gas station......thx so much

Absolute best tacos in Portland. Come to this place at least once a week and it's never disappointed. 10/10

Wow. New favorite taco/Hawaiian spot! I got the 2 taco plate with garlic shrimp and my partner got the blackened mahi-mahi tacos and we traded one for one and everything was DELICIOUS. The Mac salad was great, and I'm usually not a coleslaw fan but not the case here!! And it was $9 (a dollar off taco special). I hope the garlic shrimp stays on their menu.

I literally never have written a review. Good or bad, I've been in Portland for a month and sadly, coming from NYC it doesn't even come close to holding up. That was until I went to maho taco. Even though I'm picky and I don't want this or that, they're still cool and understanding. Foods insane. 2 small pulled pork sliders in a potatoe bun for 3.50, and a slamming little quasedilia(sp) for like 2.50. Gimme a break! This place is unreal, a breath of fresh air!!!! Check em out!

I love the food here, I go to these carts specifically for this spot. However, went here on Monday during lunch and he was opening late (totally fine, we had a beer while we waited) and when he opened I went up to place my order he was very rude to me and seemed annoyed that I wanted to order food there. When we later asked for some to-go boxes, he was very hostile towards us for it. Again, the food is fantastic, but it was not great to be treated this way.

Delicious food & super nice guy at the helm--he helped us find the right dishes. The plate option is a great deal: 2 tacos with sides of mac salad, slaw, and cilantro lime rice for $10. Loved the fried avocado and kahlua pork tacos. Yummerz.

Best. Tacos. EVER. Seriously, no others can compete. I found this place on a whim and have gone back several times, being sorely disappointed any time they were closed! I've since memorized their hours and go back as often as I can! You've got a regular in me as long as I live in PDX and any time I come back to visit.

Great food, good prices, and friendly service! Having lived in Hawai'i for many years, I'm always missing a taste of the islands. The grilled mahi taco reminded me of Maui Tacos, and it was delicious! Flour tortilla instead of corn, grilled fish (can get blackened, but I opted for "natural"), crema, pico, cabbage, and cheese. It was really tasty, and all the ingredients were well thought out and complimentary. I opted for the plate which came with mac salad, coleslaw, and cilantro rice. The rice was the only miss for me. It was dubbed "cilantro rice", and it was literally steamed white rice topped with minced cilantro. I was expecting more of a seasoned type rice, kinda like Chipotle, but it was still good. Normal plate is $8, but only $7 for "Mahi Mondays". I'll be back!

Honestly this is some of the best food I've ever had. The meat is tender and juicy and the flavor is amazing. I've never had a bad meal from here. Can't recommend it enough!!

I had the best experience here. The guy who owns it and runs it was so good to me. I messed up my order by not realizing the lime sauce was sour cream based, and I can't eat sour cream. With no complaints he took it back and made me a new one without it. We got to talking and he shared he was working two jobs - the cart and a second one. The cart pays for the cart, the other job for his life. As a performing artist, it felt familiar. And did I mention the taco was fantastic? Check this place out!

I would like to say that I have never ate here before. I come to these specific food carts all the time(at least once a week) and they are NEVER open. Which is unfortunate because I really want to try their food, seen so many good reviews but have never seen them open within the couple years I've known about these carts.

We each had a fish taco and a fried avocado taco plate, with a kalua pork quesadilla. The pork was dandy, the quesadilla toasted just right. The tacos were fresh and very tasty, with excellent sides too. By unanimous agreement, we'll be back.

You cannot go wrong with anything on this menu - highly recommend trying this out. Great local spot who gained a new frequent customer.

This dudes food is insane. There shredded pork slider are on Hawaiian sweet rolls and delicious. Each Fish taco was $3.50. I had a regular and a blackened taco. Both awesome. Lastly, it's in the Piedmont Food Cart lot which has stepped up its game recently and has a range of other good food options, a beer cart and covered patios w NFL ticket on Sunday.

Great customer service. Great price I enjoyed Mahi for the first time. Kalua Pork was awesome. The presentation was amazing! Everything was fresh and perfectly cooked! Definitely coming back!

Fish tacos were spot on. Fish was fresh and flavorful. The pod is great with beer and bathrooms!

Its a Taco, so don't expect your world view to change. . .BUT its exceptionally prepared. I tried the Mahi and Chicken and both were good. I think I'll go back for the Mahi next time again. The fish and slaw were really tasty and the tortila was soft and warm with just enough crisp. Nice portion size so go for 2 if you are just hungry, but I could eat 3 and feel more satisfied I think.

Tacos were good, not mind blowing. Clean and fresh, but not exactly packing a flavor punch. I almost want to give 4 stars because the owner is awesome. I had a pork, Mahi, and fried avocado taco. Avocado was the best. Tortillas are a little think/store bought. Pro of that, is that your taco won't fall apart on you. I didn't try any of the sides - Mac salad etc. A plus service and ambiance, but for me best fish taco in town still goes to Pepinos.

I have been looking for fish tacos for awhile, and I did in fact go to Mahi Taco with them in mind... but I got to his window and was enamored with the aroma of his kalua pork, so I ordered that instead! He serves it on King's Hawaiian bread, the perfect choice for his tender, flavorful pulled pork. The red cabbage slaw is a nice foil for the meat and bread's sweetness, just enough tang to balance. We also got a chicken quesadilla, and again, perfectly tender and tasty meat, with colby cheese. His house-made lime sour cream sauce ROCKed it, a way cool twist! If these members of his menu were this good, then I can't wait to go back for his signature dish!! His food made PDXeater.com's Top 17 Food Carts Blowing Up Portland, and it's EASY to see why! Looking forward to my next visit.

I've been wanting to try this place for awhile so I was so happy they were open. I tried their pork, Mahi(curse word, these are amazing) and avocado taco. WOWWwwieee chefs kiss. Can't wait to come again! Don't miss out on their sides either, a lot of bang for your buck.

I've tried the mac salad, the mahi taco, and the avocado taco and all each one is good enough to warrant a trip just for it. The owner is kind and genuine and enthusiastic about the food he makes. It has already become one of my favorite food carts in Portland.
