"Mr. Mahjong’s is a bar and nightclub combo in Union Square that serves dim sum, bánh mì, and wings. The drink menu is focused on cocktails with Asian-leaning ingredients like jackfruit and green tea. Go on Friday and Saturday nights if you’re looking to dance—DJs start playing at 10pm." - ricky rodriguez, julia chen 1

Google
By far our new favorite resturant. Since being introduced to this place we have been here 4 times. We have yet to find another place like this in Plano or vicinity. The service here is amazing, everyone here is SO friendly. Two gentlemen who look like brothers and two ladies who look like sisters. They seem to take great pride in this place and it shows. The ambiance of this place is great. Mahjong tiles on the walls reminds me of my mother playing mahjong in the early 80s. Very well done! On this particular night we ordered the chicken garlic dumplings which were amazing to start as well as some hot and sour soup in individual bowls. The soup was hot and had just enough spice to give you a kick of power after each sip. Rolled into some Moo shu chicken which was amazing and some combo fried rice. One of the family members has an onion allergy so they were kind to accomodate us on all dishes. The chicken was all white meat and very nicely done. You know how sometimes you eat at chinese restaurants and the chicken seems wok warmed up... not here! This place only has about 12 tables so reservations are recommended. It appears some of the locals eat here so it fills up fast. Next time will try the walnut chicken and the lobster. A++++ will be back A+++++ for the service A++++++ for the cleanliness and quality of food.

Google
I spent over 50 bucks and they would not honor my ad pages coupon also i didn't finish my 2nd entree. They threw it out and wouldn't do shit to help me. I will never go back very disappointed as a first time customer....

Google
Visiting from out of town and found this wonderful restaurant on Google maps. You will not be disappointed with the overall experience. Atmosphere is great, not a loud restaurant, staff is friendly and attentive, food comes out quick and is amazing. Every dish we ordered was absolutely delicious. Would recommend if you are looking for great Chinese food.

Google
Very intimate dining and best pomelo shrimp and egg fried rice I’ve had

Google
Best contemporary Chinese restaurant in Plano and North Dallas. Great classics with a cozy and chic atmosphere and friendly staff. I also have great respect for their working hours as a local business owner. Keep in mind Lunch is only served till 2:30pm and you must order before 2pm otherwise the kitchen will be closed. Will be going back again

Google
My girlfriends and I are always looking for a great place to enjoy a great atmosphere, good service and most of all delicious food 😋. And we have arrived. we started off with some appetizers, scallion pancakes, wonton soup, and dumplings, so so delicious. We enjoyed several entrée which were also delicious!!!!! The decor set a mood of calm and elegant. I I will definitely be back!!!!!

Google
I came here bc lots of ppl on Facebook recommended this place as one of the best authentic Chinese food here. Unfortunately, this is quite Americanized. The service was great and the ambiance I adored! But for example, the san bei chicken did not taste or even look like the one I grew up with. The sauces were all sweeter and thicker, and the ones that said spicy had zero heat. The soup dumplings and famous chicken dumplings were good. They were dim sum size though, which I didn’t expect and they only give you four. Being that we’re in Plano with a large Asian population, it was interesting to me that the entire Asian restaurant was packed, and yet I was the only Asian person eating there at the time. They have Dan Dan Noodles on the menu, but instead of calling it by that name, they Americanized it to “garlic sesame noodles.” To me, this is like if we changed the name fajitas to “skillet beef with onions and peppers.” The restaurant seems to be doing awesome, and I love that for the people who work there! And I’m glad there’s a local restaurant for people who want Americanized Chinese food. But as far as authentic Chinese food recommendations, this is far from it.

Google
Solid 4.5 stars. Slight deduct due to one or two dishes that were a miss and others where portion size was a tad light. The Stir Fried Calamari ($11) was a miss as it was both small in size and mediocre in flavor. Skip. The Famous Szechuan Chicken Dumpling ($9) was average. Sauce was decent but six small dumplings left us feeling underwhelmed. "Xiao Long Bao" orders (2 @ $9) were very good but on the small side and thus light on the wonderful soup that makes these so desirable. Definitely order one if not two orders. Mah-Jong Orange Beef ($21) is a must! Flavor, texture, and plating were all spot on. The Mushroom Trio Clay Pot ($18), San Bei Chicken Clay Pot ($20), Szechuan Ma Po Tofu Clay Pot ($18) were a perfect 3 for 3. The Wok-Fried Beef Flat Noodle ($16) was average. It would've benefitted from stronger flavors though its texture was quite nice. The Garlic Sesame Noodle ($9) aka "Dan Dan Noodles" were good as the peanut butter flavor and fresh thinly sliced cucumbers blended just right. Service was stellar as their team kept all drinks filled and the table bussed, pre-bussed the entire service. All-in with tip ran us $180 for the Mother's Day luncheon which though stout was well worth everyone happy with the meal we had and time spent together.

Yelp
I don't know where to start because EVERYTHING about Mah-Jong Chinese was amazing! We stopped by during a recent trip to Plano, and I can confidently say it's some of the best Americanized and authentic Chinese we've had in a long time. We ordered the combination fried rice, hot and sour soup, mu shu pork, and sweet and sour chicken. Each dish was delicious. The fried rice was packed with flavor and had just the right amount of everything--meat, veggies, seasoning. The hot and sour soup? Incredible. It was perfectly balanced--spicy, tangy, hearty, and absolutely soul-warming. Now, the mu shu pork deserves its own round of applause. The pork was tender, the veggies were crisp, and the pancakes were light and soft. Every bite was just...wow. As for the sweet and sour chicken, it hit that perfect crispy-on-the-outside, juicy-on-the-inside magic with a sauce that was tangy and sweet without being overpowering. Pure comfort Chinese food done right. On top of the amazing food, the service was fantastic! The staff was so friendly, attentive, and genuinely seemed happy to be there, which made the whole experience even better. They made us feel welcome from the second we walked in and were quick to check on us, refill drinks, and make sure we had everything we needed. I haven't stopped thinking about Mah-Jong Chinese since that meal, and I'm already planning my next visit when we're back in Plano. If you're in the area, do yourself a favor and go. Seriously.

Yelp
Food was average, but I will go back and try more than appetizers to make a final decision. Hot and Sour Soup was good. It was very vinegar based in my opinion. Not a bad thing as I liked the flavor. I wish it would have had a little spice to it. I could eat it again, but I have definitely had better. 3.5 STARS Crab Rangoon was a little over fried for me. It was just a bit too crunchy for my liking. The center was soft and cheesy which helped it. I would not order these again. 3 STARS Service was good and the staff were pleasant. Ambiance it's a cute and simple restaurant. I love the art and lighting fixtures. It felt cozy and comfortable. Overall it was a good visit. I want to explore the entree's so I will go back to see if I can give them a better rating.

Yelp
We have been to this restaurant a few times because the food is good ! The service is very disappointing !! It seems like every one around us are promptly attended to while we sit and wait around ! We have to get someone's attention before we can even get drinks and then be able to order ! Our drinks were not refilled at all ! We even had to get someone's attention to get the tab and to go boxes!! This is not worth a drive all the way from Fort Worth !

Elina M.

Yelp
The clay pot dishes were so good! Ma Po Tofu and Shrimp and scallops were what I tried. Also the Szchezuan chicken dumplings were very good! The sauce it came with was delicious!

May G.

Yelp
I got Singapore fried noodle and it was really good. I tried hong Kong crispy noodles and that was good too. Szechuan beef was good. Their beef is very tender. Scallion pancakes were a little bland.

Morgan R.

Yelp
We've had such bad luck with Chinese food in Dallas. But I've been craving it and studying websites hoping to find a place with good flavor! Last night I finally tested my luck again and we settled on this place after seeing the pics and reading comments. We had it delivered and everything was really good. When it arrived, the food was still hot and the egg rolls were very crunchy. We are big on spice, and that was the one thing still missing for us, but that was an easy fix. We will definitely try this place again. I'm hoping it remains consistent.

Jamal P.

Yelp
Expensive.. I will pay Their prices happily if the food was good and tasty but was all the opposite .. Also waiter was not friendly at all

Todd K.

Yelp
Food was outstanding, service was spot on and welcoming! Such a great addition to the Asian food offerings in McKinney, Mah-Jong is now amongst the best !

Jim V.

Yelp
The food we ordered was very good. The soup we ordered was egg drop and it was delicious. The fried rice was great but the rest was good. The service was excellent The ambiance was very nice I felt that overall it was a little pricey for Chinese food.

Rosalie R.

Yelp
Well I ate in the restaurant and it was AMAZING! Beef noodles, all in fried rice, red deviled chicken, and white perch. Delicious!! Perfect ambiance. I could actually hear the people I dined with. A wonderful experience in restaurant dining.

Galaxar B.

Yelp
Top tier service - staff were very friendly and super efficient! Good ambiance with well-lit dining space and the mah-jong pieces included in the decor added a nice touch. The xiao long bao (soup dumplings) were the star of the dinner along with the smoky lo mein noodles and Red Devil Chicken. We also got the kung pao beef but was left wanting a little more flavor in it.

John C.

Yelp
Ordered BBQ Pork fried rice for pick up. Added extra pork, sprouts and onion. The fried rice and pork are delicious. Generous amounts of pork, sprouts and onions. Was lacking the snow peas as there were hardly any in the dish. Very good fried rice and will order again I ordered take out and it was ready in 10 minutes. The lady at the counter was very friendly and had the order ready on the counter when I walked in.

Glenna C.

Yelp
Love the food and small intimate atmosphere! Food always delicious and you can depend on the excellent quality. Waiters very accommodating! Our first choice for Chinese.

Charles W.

Yelp
Had lunch there today after a doctor appointment and had a nice lunch. Very soothing ambiance with soft music that facilitates conversation. Service was fast and efficient. I had sweet and sour soup and my wife had egg drop soup. My wife enjoyed her sesame chicken and I mostly liked my Kung Pao beef but there was an occasional floral taste that didn't work for me. Spring rolls were good but nothing outstanding. Overall gotta give them five stars for service and ambience and three and a half for food. Would definitely return and try something different.

Mary J.

Yelp
My go-to order, Singapore Noodles, is delicious! Husband always orders all-in fried rice. We are never disappointed.

Bob K.

Yelp
In my international travels on business, I've enjoyed tasty Chinese cuisine at fine restaurants. Some holes in the wall, but delightfully tasty. Some of the best in Chinatown in San Francisco and New York. But finding the top Chinese restaurant in our area has been more difficult than the Dallas Cowboy winning a Super Bowl since Jimmy Johnson moved on. Mah-Jong Chinese Kitchen is a winner, at least based on the dishes I tried. My favorites so far: Wonton Soup: Tasty but not overly salty Merlot Stir Fried Cube of Beef Tenderloin: Delightfully flavorful. Click on image below to see all the ingredients. Baby bok choy: Healthy and tasty Vegetable lo-mein: Soothing to the palate Vegetable fried rice with BBQ pork was good, but doesn't please the taste buds like the others. The staff is upbeat, seeming to enjoy their jobs.

Denise A.

Yelp
Excellent food and service in a fine dining atmosphere. Everything we ordered was delicious - from fried rice to dumplings and entrées. Can't wait to go back and wish we hadn't delayed so long going here.

Judy S.

Yelp
The food was delicious. We had the Mu Shu pork, the Mongolian beef and orange chicken. We shared our food and it was very good. The waiters were funny and attentive. I will be going back soon. The restaurant was upscale and warm. Loved it!

John E.

Yelp
Fast, efficient service with courteous attention. Food comes out quickly and presented well. Great potions. Menu selections are traditional to unique. Great selection of appetizers, salads, soups and entrees. Food is FRESH! And DELICIOUS! Go here!

april l.

Yelp
With Christmas right around the corner our friendly server greeted us wishing us a Merry Christmas. The restaurant is on the smaller side with a great atmosphere and what seemed to be "regulars" The sweet and sour chicken was very good.

Sarah K.

Yelp
My fav Chinese restaurant in Dallas! I fell in love with this hole in the wall spot located on preston and spring creek. It's super cute and intimate inside and the owner is super friendly! All the food I've tried has always been super fresh, not oily at all, and very very tasty! I highly recommend this spot if you're craving Chinese. My top favs: The Red Devil chicken or shrimp dish is AMAZING!! Yes, it's spicy but it's the good kind of spicy and also a little sweet. Trust me, you'll love it! Famous Szechuan Chicken Dumpling: freakin delicious! Pan Seared Scallion Pan Cakes are the perfect appetizer. It's like a fried roti with scallions inside yumm Honestly, I can keep going on about the food because it really is THAT good. I can't wait to be back soon!

Tracy N.

Yelp
Absolutely Devine small quick lunch hot tea and Hong Kong Pan friend noodles with shrimp hands down the best I've had in Texas to date. The service was delightful! Will be coming back and can't wait to try something. I've been here more times then I can remember. Why? Four Reasons 1. Pan Fried Noodles With Veggies & Chicken in a White garlic sauce 2. Crispy Spicy Chicken 3 Scallion Pancakes. 4. Impeccable Service. You will NOT BE Disappointed!!!

S M.

Yelp
When in town, we usually go here. Always consistent and food ia always good. The staff is always nice and attentive.

Jason M.

Yelp
Everything was outstandin' service and great food, very fresh Best hot and sour soup ever. Never disappointed. Thank you for being consistently a great place to be.

Anita S.

Yelp
This used to be a great place to come for some good Chinese food but I've steadily seen the quality go down. It has a different owner in the past few years and I can tell a huge difference from the food and cooking quality when it was under the original owner and its current one. The menu hasn't changed and could use a refresh. Ordered the ma po tofu and the cashew chicken. The chicken was tough and had a strange smell to it. The ma po tofu used to be a hearty dish but now the tofu pcs have shrunk. The wontons that are served with the soup are stale and not crispy. The ambience has been the same since the old owner and the place could you use some freshening up. It is looking tired. I like to support small and neighborhood businesses but I may not support this one anymore.

Houston C.

Yelp
This is authentic and beautifully made Chinese food. The food is consistently great, and the pricing is very reasonable. It is, however, not especially large, so for weekends, reservations are a good idea. The service is also excellent. I highly recommend Mah-Jong.

Dominique S.

Yelp
We just ordered DoorDash to children's hospital because our baby is in the icu. We ordered orange chicken and they didn't include any rice. I also ordered an extra crispy wonton chip that was not included. We had a soup and two other entrees and they did not include any forks or spoons! We are unable to eat any of the food we just spend 95 dollars on. We used to be regulars and will never return.

S G.

Yelp
Sauces are outstanding but the won tons need to be flavored better. Mongolian beef was outstanding. The two chicken dishes were just so so. The broccoli needed to be cooked a little more to raw. The service was cold the ladies seemed to be very put out and not attentive at all. I had to ask for more saki and call them over to order after they were taking orders from others that walked in. This was very discouraging. I loved the older gentleman who's outgoing and nice to everyone. These ladies working were not friendly and not engaging at all, cold is the word. I also came in at 5 and was one of the first to sit down. This is probably my last time. I don't think they care honestly. So I don't think I will. But management needs to have the face of enjoyment and assisting the only one I've met like that was the one older man that always brought life and said hello.

Breck M.

Yelp
I was saddened to be told yesterday at 2:10 "we are closing in 5 minutes!" I told the older lady hostess on their website it said open until 3pm. The couple that came in behind us even stated on their door it said closing at 3pm. The lady then said, "we could order to go if we wanted." I told her I am sure you're not the owner!" Too bad we were looking forward to trying and taking more food home for other family members.

Karen D.

Yelp
Husband and I eat at Mah-Jong on a regular basis. The staff is always happy and welcoming when we arrive. They know our drink preferences and know we like salt and pepper for salad and soy sauce for rice. This restaurant does a good take out business as well.

Jerleene K.

Yelp
Excellent authentic style Chinese food in the area and great customer service . The shu mai had a lot of flavor . The Szechuan beef was very flavorful and it had a nice spice to it. Servers very friendly and always very attentive.

Monica G.

Yelp
A hidden gem in Dallas. For people who go to Yao Fuzi & get crappy service, just a little hike north & you can get excellent service & amazing food for a more reasonable price. Highly recommend.

Allen T.

Yelp
Ok this is a 3.5 star place for me. We came here for a business lunch. Parking is plenty and the place only had a few tables filled. We were seated quickly. Nice internal decoration. We ordered the small Peking duck, it came with maybe 8 pieces of meat and the pancakes. Well let's just say that's NOT good at all. The duck lack of flavor and it was not fresh. The skin was not crispy. My advice is DON'T order it. We also ordered the sweet chili sauce fish and Singapore fried rice noodles. Let me say they both were pretty good. The fish dish was delightful. Price is on the high side probably because of the location.

TJ H.

Yelp
The food is amazing. The service is amazing. The restaurant is cozy and welcoming. I don't understand why this place isn't much busier. Skip PF Chang's this week and come eat some real food!

Shlomo H.

Yelp
Delicious food especially seafood dishes. Great Chinese food cooked and served by real Chinese people. Expensive but worth it.

Jennifer D.

Yelp
We found our Chinese restaurant. Just moved to the area. I love sweet and sour pork - and this is the best I have had in many many years! The service is excellent and friendly... the atmosphere is nice - a real pleasant restaurant-not just a take out joint! We'll be back!!!

Shannah H.

Yelp
Wow! I can't express how many years I've looked for a really terrific Chinese restaurant in Plano - one that was super-fresh, not overly Americanized but also not so traditional that I struggle knowing what would be best to order. Little did I know it was here, at Mah-Jong, and it had been open for years. We called our search "looking for Eat Well," which was our favorite place for Chinese takeaway in London. The measuring stick for finding our Eat Well is takeaway Singapore noodles. So that's what I ordered at Mah-Jong. They were - well, in a word - amazing. Just amazing. Curry-spicy. Tender fried pork, Fried egg crumbles. Perfectly cooked shrimp. Oh gosh, I'm ready to order them again. And just like Eat Well, they weren't cheap. I think to be amazing they have to be around $14. So I don't really care - I'll pay $14 any day to get more Mah-Jong Singapore Noodles. I have just one favor to ask of Mah-Jong: Please don't close. It took us 14 years to find you.

Wendy T.

Yelp
Place is nice.. but the food is so so.. and the price was quite steep. Not impressed with their wontons and dumplings.. too American Chinese for our taste.

Nehali S.

Yelp
I made a reservation for 7 on a Saturday night using OpenTable. Parking is PLENTIFUL, so there is no need to worry about that! Our table was ready on time, and the restaurant was pretty packed by 8! This is definitely not your typical take out Chinese. It's a 1000x better and fresher. Our waiter was FABULOUS!! He was very attentive and super sweet. He even toasted the New Year with us! My personal favorites are the veggie lo mein and the string bean entrees. Also, the chicken dumplings were scrumptious. I have nothing to say except positive things about this restaurant. This is a wonderful place for steaming, fresh, fabulous Chinese food. You simply cannot go wrong. I also hear that they are open on all holidays, which is a huge plus.

Keith H.

Yelp
The waiting staff were all nice people and the food was tasty. This review is about the pricing. I don't expect to pay over $20/dish at an Asian restaurant unless I'm going to major city. Their flavors are tasty but it's catered towards Americans with more of a sweet taste. We probably should have guessed as there were no other Asians in restaurant. I'm sure others will like this place... it's just not for someone who likes Asian food to be affordable and on the saltier side

Jordan P.

Yelp
Food was good but quite salty. We loved the chicken dumplings and the hot and sour soup. The Ma Po Tofu and King also Chicken were tasty but as I said, the salt overwhelmed the dishes. I'd go back but ask them to hold the salt.

Susan M.

Yelp
Although the decor was cute and service was good, the dumplings were not. The shu mai and chicken dumpling were not good. The soup dumpling was not the best but decent. We only ordered one main dish (crispy noodle with beef) but it was very flavorful and had great texture. I would order that again and maybe try more main dishes instead of the dumplings. Note: they close at 3pm on saturdays as well and reopen for dinner later. It's not updated on yelp.

Judy L.

Yelp
Beautiful, fancy Chinese restaurant with a bar. Came in for Saturday lunch and tried scallion pancakes, stir-fried fish fillet, green beans with minced meat, and Hong Kong Style pan fried noodles with beef. Price was very good and came with rice, soup(we chose hot and sour), and an egg roll. I haven't had many decent Chinese food in North Dallas that is comparable to CA. This is the closest so far, out of the many we've tried. Service was excellent. Our waiter was very attentive to our needs and really sweet to my daughter giving her a choice of different sized spoons to pick from when we asked for one. We will definitely be back soon to try all the other food.

Kim E.

Yelp
My kids and I love the Orange Chicken. The sauce is great, the chicken is good quality. However, I feel like the chicken is made the day before and then deep fried and sauce added once ordered because the chicken is always dry. If the chicken was fresh and juicy then it couldn't be beat. Also, if you want extra orange sauce for the chicken then they charge an additional $5.00 for a bowl of it. They will not serve a small amount of extra sauce. In addition, they serve a side salad with lunch but if you'd like one with dinner then you must purchase a full size salad. If they were a little more flexible then I would visit more often.

Gill S.

Yelp
I tried quite alot here, and everything I had was OK, but not memorable. Not sure how much consideration is done with the meals, but it felt like all the food is transferred from the frozen bags of shrimp and veggies, going straight into the pan or fryer. The only dish that did peek my interest a little was the scallops in black bean sauce, served in a clay pot. The beijing duck was disappointing, with the fat being barely rendered, and lukewarm when it was served. The pancakes they serve with it were tough and lukewarm as well. For having a sitdown chinese place, this is an OK choice for middle Plano, but otherwise, its not worth bringing others. Things I ordered: Butterfly shrimp, Popcorn shrimp, Soup dumplings, Scallion pancakes, Beijing duck, Sea scallops in black bean sauce

Ria C.

Yelp
Overall 10/10 enjoyed food. Had kids in group and everything was fine. Service was quick and polite. Ambiance is nice and peaceful for dinner.

Mark M.

Yelp
We order out from Mah-Jong about once per month and occasionally eat in. It's always consistently great. Their fried rice is amazing! It is my family's favorite food. And it's quick and the take out orders are done correctly.

Julee A.

Yelp
The best Chinese food in Texas!! We love the food and the staff!!! The Merlot Beef is actually filet mignon with fresh vegetables. We have NEVER been disappointed! From the Egg rolls, to the egg drop soup, to the Merlot Beef, you will wonder how this place stays such a hidden gem! Spectacular !

Steve S.

Yelp
Excellent Chinese food. A rather small dining room but nice overall. The food is good and the service is very nice. It is worth a visit!
