"Find live music, booze, and good eats at this spirited Woodlands hangout on the Waterway. In addition to a hefty list of beers on tap, find specials like bottomless mimosas during weekend brunch, alongside dishes like Shepherd’s Pie, chicken and dumplings, and tacos. The bar is especially known to reel in the crowds during holidays like Cinco de Mayo, Fourth of July, and Halloween." - Megha McSwain, Sean Hekmat

Nice place to go for Sunday Brunch. They have bottomless mimosas for a good price, and the service was good. The neighborhood and the establishment were both nice. I've had a better prepared steak elsewhere, but it was good enough. Overall, it's a good spot.

I was expecting the same old tough steak you always get with mediocre service…. What a pleasant surprise! Kyle and Nico served us, they ate fantastic and great servers. The steak was the best I’ve had at any restaurant. Atmosphere is amazing, band was awesome- all of the servers checked on us constantly. Good was A-ttt and you have a customer for life. Don’t change anything!

I like this this place. We came here 3 ish years ago, for lunch and the food and dining experience was great! Unfortunately, we did not have the same experience tonite. We stopped in just for drinks before a dinner date. It was 4:30 ish when we walked in. It was not busy. There were a handful of people, no more than 5. When we sat down, Kyle, the bartender, looked at his fellow bartender and told him he needed to deal with us. We ordered just drinks and then Kyle stated, " If I had known they weren't eating, I would have handled them." I'm not sure what that meant. Kyle glanced our way a few times as we drank our first round but never said anything or made any attempt to engage with us, which didn't bother me at the time. We finished our first round and patiently waited to be acknowledged. My husband finished his drink first, and put the empty glass close to the well. I finished mine about 5 minutes later and waited until Kyle looked over, to place the empty glass next to my husband's. Kyle and I made eye contact, he saw the empty glasses and still made no attempt to assist us. After 12 minutes, a woman walked over and asked how she could help. She served us our drinks and was lovely. I thanked her for helping us and we tried to enjoy this very odd situation. My husband finished his next drink and once again, Kyle saw the empty glass and would not acknowledge us or help with another order. After 6 minutes, Kyle actually acknowleded us and asked if we needed anything. My husband just asked to please close us out. Kyle tossed the check on the bar and went on his way. We left a $1.97 tip. This is not who we are. We are 20%+ people. I am baffled at why Kyle refused to help us. Even now, we are sitting at a bar across the street, noticing 2 other people that also walked out of this establishment, and cannot wrap our heads around why this person, KYLE, who had never encountered us before, would refuse to serve us. What could we possibly have done for him to make the decision we deserved this treatment? *Please note, we are a quiet couple, that were watching golf and conversing quietly. We were trying to enjoy an evening out. Honestly, just go across the street to The Goose's Acre. They are super friendly and professional.

I’d like to take a moment to recognize the outstanding work Kyle has been doing at Mahoney’s. His commitment to excellence, consistent reliability, and positive attitude have made a significant impact on both the team and customers alike. Kyle goes above and beyond in every task he’s given, whether it’s assisting customers with detailed product knowledge, keeping the workspace organized, or jumping in to help teammates without being asked. He brings a level of professionalism and care that truly stands out. Keep up the fantastic work, Kyle!

Yelp
I'm actually giving a four and a half stars review. The reason is within the review. It was the first time for me (last Saturday, July 13, 2024) to visit this establishment. I came there for a pre-concert meal; DJ Jazzy Jeff, Paula Abdul, and New Kids on the Block were performing at the Pavilion that night. Don't roll y'all's eyes. Lol. When I arrived, it didn't seem busy at all, so I seated myself at the bar. But, it did take a while for me to be noticed. First off, I had to ask a fellow patron for the menu which was beside him. After saying hello to one of the bartenders, he didn't bother to ask me if I wanted to drink anything. Granted he was setting up some drinkware, I didn't want to mess him up as he was organizing them. So, I let him be. It was not until another five minutes that his co-worker asked me what I wanted to order. Luckily, with preparation, I already knew what I wanted. First was the drinks. I ordered "The Godfather" (Tullamore D.E.W. Irish Whiskey | Disaronno Amaretto | Aromatic Bitters | Luxardo Cherry), which was really good! Nice and even drink with no overpowering flavors. Along with "The Godfather" came my usual accompaniments of iced tea, and water. Second was the food. Since I didn't know how big of a portion were the entrees, I played it safe by ordering two appetizers: Shepherds Pie Dumplings ("Homemade dumplings stuffed with marinated pork in traditional Irish seasonings. Served on top of mashed potatoes and finished with a green pea purée."), and Duck Wings (six wings "tossed in a Sweet Guinness sauce."). Usually, dumplings are steamed or lightly fried, but these dumplings were deep fried to a dark, golden brown. And with their accompaniments, they were really good! The wings with that sweet sauce were really good, too! I had to use a knife and fork because I didn't want to leave a mess all over myself. Would I visit them again? Maybe. I do have a concert next month. :-)

Yelp
Will definitely return to Mahoney's!! This little Irish-Texan bar and grill has an amazing happy hour and the food was excellent! Had a couple drinks that did not disappoint and our waitress was awesome! Service was quick, and the waitress was helpful! The hustle and bustle of the lively bar was fun to hang out in with my hubby!

Traci D.

Yelp
Bartender was friendly. Service was great. Great deal. $13 Cfs and $10 CFC Hearty meal. Enough leftover for dinner. Manager spoke with us. Great experience.

Yelp
Weeknight catch up or weekend fun Mahoney's has something for all. Visited twice in one week: First time visiting on Thursday met up for drinks got to enjoy a live band. Only had drinks but they have a wide selection of cocktails, beers, and variety of drinks. Bartenders were friendly and attentive. Had a Guinness & Blue Moon. It's self seating in an industrial bar environment. Returned on Saturday for Brunch and brought my parents... sat outside on the patio & got bottomless mimosas! It's $16 per person and we opted for 3 different juices. The Bloody Mary was a good taste not too spicy. The food everything that we had we enjoyed: Ordered the Crabby Benny (5/5) (biscuit, crab cakes, poached eggs & hollandaise sauce) can add fruit or breakfast potatoes for extra charge. I don't usually enjoy eggs Benedict's but this one was good, even my 3 year old nephew liked it. Also ordered the cowboy scramble 5/5: have a choice of chorizo, brisket, bacon or can mix. Mixed with eggs, cheese, potatoes and side of corn or flour tortillas. Looking forward to returning.

Yelp
I went with some friends during happy hour and got the chicken quesadillas and fried cheese. Both of those were super delicious and would recommend! These weren't in the happy hour menu, but still really yummy. I got a margarita for $7, which was super delicious. Unfortunately our waitress was quite rude. She was fine at the beginning, but not so much towards the end. My friend jokingly asked for free shots, but then said we'd pay for them. She said she'd give them to us for free if he tipped well. He tipped $10 on the $58 tapped and she looked at the receipt, said that wasn't 20% then crumpled up the receipt and made him re-tip. It was quite shocking, and we didn't even get the shots for free. So thank you Madison for being rude to us and we will not be returning to Mahoney's anymore.

Yelp
My friends I stopped into Mahoney's while doing a little bar hopping in one my favorite suburbs in the Greater Houston area. Parking can be found everywhere for a fee or for free depending on how lucky you are. We had quite a few in our group but was able to find a couple of tables in the back bar area. This place looks really nice and the staff was friendly. Friendly doesn't necessarily equate to great service or experience. Our young waiter was such a nice guy, but he wasn't very present. He also had a lack of knowledge when it came to the menu as well. A couple of my gal pals hadn't had an espresso martini before so we the Espress-O-Self cocktail stood out to us right away. I told him, if it isn't close to the real thing, I can order something else. He assured us it was amazing. What we got was basically a boozed up coffee shake. Not good. I had to drink the gal's drinks so it would not be wasted. I should have read the description instead of taking the young mans word for it. Partly my fault too. Lesson learned. We also decided to indulge in a few of suggested appetizers as well. We tried the Spicy Jalapeno Crisps , fries, and Philly Egg Rolls. The spicy crisps were good, but really oily. The Philly Egg Rolls had alot of potential, but they were super skinny egg rolls and not very filling unless you took that dish down alone. The fries were fries. No complaints there. Overall, for the items we had, we weren't too impressed with the food and drinks. The place looks cool and I feel they do turn out some solid food. I would come back and give them another try if in the area.

Yelp
Father's Day Sunday and wanted breakfast.Food was delicious and atmosphere was pleasant as always.Waiter was really helpful.Fun but remained professional. Almost ate outside but Houston weather is Houston weather.Endless Mimosas had me sleeping the majority of the day.Appreciated them making my day great.

Amber D.

Yelp
This is our favorite spot! Every Thursday you have happy hour all day and it is the best! I do have to stay steak night is a hit or miss. Some nights it is great and some nights I regret it. Our amazing waitress takes care of us every time. She knows what we want and she is on it. We are a group that comes after soccer every Thursday and she takes care of the whole team. Every week we are there they have live music and it is great. 10/10 recommend checking it out!

DeKea R.

Yelp
I visited for brunch on a Sunday. It was fairly busy but not super busy for the amount of time I waited to be noticed. However, once I was greeted and attended to, my waiter was pretty attentive and made recommendations as it was my first time visiting. I tried the French toast and candied/peppered bacon. The blue cheese spin is certainly different but in a good way. Love, love, loved the live music. It definitely was a vibe.

Germanie J.

Yelp
First time checking out this place. Anytime there's live music, SIGN ME UP! The band played 80's hits which is my fave!!! All smiles! Service was speedy, waitress was nice! We ordered grilled cheese, fries, Mac n cheese and BLAT. All were delish!... except the BLAT. That by far was the DRIEST sandwich ever lol. The bacon was old and it had very little Mayo. Luckily I wasn't too hungry so I didn't make a fuss about it. I ate the fries and enjoyed the band. I'll be back!

Erin P.

Yelp
I have been to Mahoney's a few times. The first time was for a company happy hour. I think I tried every drink on the happy hour menu. I liked the margarita and -even though it was embarrassing to order- the Busted Nut. However, when I went back a couple months later, the margarita was not as good. So, it's pretty hit or miss. Another time I came, my friends and I did bottomless brunch to celebrate one of them getting a new job. The bottomless brunch is definitely worth it. It's only $15 for bottomless mimosas and they bring out the champagne and a variety of different juices. For breakfast, I got the crab cake benedict and it was alright, nothing exceptional but still pretty good. Mahoney's has live music every night, which is great if that's your thing. Overall, Mahoney's is pretty average as a bar. If you're going to go, go for the bottomless brunch.

John W.

Yelp
Update: me and my friend went for st Patrick's day and it was ok. There was a $5 cover and line (most of the time). The food was good but not amazing. The service was actually really good for how packed the bar was. I was disappointed with the experience though. It felt like we were the youngest people in the bar & the live music was really loud (even in the section with table where we were eating dinner). I could barely hear my friends at the other side of the table. My friend got a burger for st Patrick's day as well and he said it was good, but it did make him throw up...

Jar P.

Yelp
Great food, great beer selection. Tipped 20% and the waitress Madison said that it wasn't enough. Crumbled the receipt and essentially made me re tip. Had a great birthday Madison, thanks brother go check out Goose's acre Irish pub, better ambiance and service

Judith R.

Yelp
Food Service and ambiance is excellent. What I like most about Mahoney's is that they have live music. The food is great and its great for a date night.

Jason M.

Yelp
This place made excellent drinks. High end, bartender made high quality, Old Fashion done correctly. The food was very good, had apps the cheese steak egg rolls. The Queso was excellent and crab cake balls all very good. Burger was very good, had fries but shared someone else's tots, they were better.

Jennifer G.

Yelp
Ugh. Is it an Irish bar or a dance club? Mahoney's needs to decide what it wants to be. If you are looking for authentic Irish it's not here. Tater tots tasted like cod, must not change their fryer oil. Bloody Mary just ok, and several tables left dirty with food and dishes.

April K.

Yelp
I've been here a few times for the night life but hadnno idea they served brunch with a flat amount for bottomless mimosas . We had a party of 7 and literally everyone at the table was raving about their food. I had the Mahoney's salad with chicken added. The salad was fresh, chicken was nicely seasoned, cooked to perfection and the Balsamic vinegarette was delicious. The rest of the table had the following: omelette, ribeye, pancakes, poached eggs and chicken sandwich with tater tots. Our server was excellent: he stayed on top of our high demand on champagne and filled our water glasses quickly. I am already planning a trip with another group of friends!

frank c.

Yelp
First time here. Great service, nice place with live music nightly. Fish and chips came out hot and we're delicious. Tarter sauce tasted homemade .Fries were seasoned well. Will definitely come back.

Brett N.

Yelp
Why 3 stars? Because it served its purpose as a pre-concert option. --- --- --- My brother and I were going to a Friday night concert at the Pavillon and I suggested we meet up at a restaurant near Mahoney's at 6pm. I had to pick myself off the floor when he arrived before me and called to let me know that he was told it was a 3.5 hour wait. I'm still in shock days later. He checked another place - 90 minute wait. The third place he stopped was Mahoney's and he was able to sit right away, so that's how we ended up here. While I was grateful we were able to find a spot during such a busy time, to be honest, Mahoney's was about what I would have expected based on the reviews. It was bar food. Not dive bar food, but just a step above. And the beer menu left a bit to be desired. I ordered fish and chips. The fries were really good. The fish were nugget sized and just okay. My brother ordered the Texas Egg Rolls as an appetizer and those were probably the best thing I ate. His entree was the Shephard's Pie Dumplings... the dumplings were fine, but the potatoes they came on were barely edible. Our server was friendly, but over-worked. We maybe saw her twice - once to order, once for the bill. I was grateful for the table, but would have probably altered the plans of the entire night had I known how everything was going to play out.

Jessica A.

Yelp
We decided to venture to Mahoney's and we were not disappointed. I had been eyeing this restaurant upon recommendation from a very close friend and I must say I don't know what took me so long to go. We ordered duck wings, southwest burger, fish and chips, along with cider and the berry sangria. Everything was made fresh and delivered fresh. Our waitress Cassandra went over and beyond her duties in serving us. She was very knowledgeable about the menu and I tell you, not one time did she say "let me go ask someone". Cassandra knew this menu and knew it exactly what to recommend to satisfy our tastebuds. She also treated us like we were the only table she had. Not one time were we left waiting for anything. Kudos to Cassandra, we need more servers like her. 100% recommend this restaurant. Go check out Mahoney's on the waterway!

Belly G.

Yelp
I came here with a couple of friends to watch one of the Astros' playoffs games because we weren't able to get to Kirby Ice House early enough to get a good spot. Plenty of TVs in the restaurant to watch the game and the food was surprisingly better than expected, and the service was outstanding. Wouldn't mind coming back for food and/or drinks but I probably wouldn't make this a go-to place to watch sports - the vibe just isn't there (not necessarily a bad thing, though).

Deandre M.

Yelp
You can't beat the brunch prices at Mahoneys. The bottomless mimosas for $15 keeps me coming back.

Chris B.

Yelp
Food was very good but could of used more asparagus and carrots. All in all it was a good experience except for the loud group next to us. Service was quick.

Andrea F.

Yelp
We had an absolutely fantastic brunch experience at Mahoney's. Our server, Mason, was stellar. He was on top of things without being invasive. We would absolutely go back based on his service alone. Food was great and bottomless mimosas were very reasonably priced. My husband loved his chicken fried steak with extra gravy. We also appreciated the various juice options for different preferences. We will return!

Brandon L.

Yelp
The new manager is an asshole. Blame is on customer, not him or kitchen. Steak is not juicy or cooked correctly Staff and barters are chill and very customer oriented. Poor management will lead to this place not being great. Don't order steak here if you want it how you want it. Restaurant needs to get a new manager and rid itself of this difficult man who is self-centered and not friendly. So, in the end, the manager called the cops and forced me out. I ordered more food quietly, and everyone in the restaurant said he was in the wrong Seriously, hope owners wake up to this guy's bad and selfish behavior to customers. I was not loud or a bad customer. I only wanted to enjoy my beer and eat some food. He has some serious problems

Jonna L.

Yelp
Nice looking bar/restaurant. Our server was great. However, food was just so-so. Taco Salad needs massive help. Reuben looked good (did not taste it). The Texas Egg Rolls were really dry. Live music starts around 8pm. Once it starts, good luck having a conversation with anyone. Musicians are great, just WAY too loud.

Patrick K.

Yelp
How can I give this place 10 STARS? We recently partnered with Mahoney's for a private corporate event. The venue, staff, food and owners completely blew my mind. "Lisa" the owner and her team completely crushed it.

Jayde G.

Yelp
The food was tasty and our server was super sweet and did an amazing job!! Would definitely come back again to try more of their delicious dishes.

Vlad V.

Yelp
I have been to Mahoney's Texish Bar & Restaurant a couple of times, most often after a concert at Cynthia Woods. Located in the Waterway District, this bar stands out to me for its live music. Pretty much whenever you come, you'll enjoy a band playing at this casual bar. The service has always been pretty solid too. It's an older crowd compared to some other spots in the area but I've always had a good time. Stop by for some brews and some live music.

Elisa G.

Yelp
What a steak! Came here for steak night and it was amazing! I honestly didn't expect to finish my plate but it was too good! I'll be back!

Helen C.

Yelp
Absolutely love this place. I've been there in the evening with adults and on a mom/son date and my 11 year old LOVED the southwest burger. The bathrooms are beautiful (yea that matters lol!). The service has always been good. We've been waited on by a super nice and chill young man most of the times we've been there. I was talking to a friend and this restaurant came up randomly and she gushed about it too. Definitely recommend.

Jeremy M.

Yelp
I have only been here once. However that one time was absolutely amazing and I cannot go wait to go back. The service was great, the drinks were great, the food was on point. Great little spot to hang out ;enjoy a nice walk on the waterway afterwards. The Philly cheesesteak eggrolls are out of this world amazing by the way

Chelsea B.

Yelp
Came here for brunch with a group of friends. The kitchen was backed up so the food came out slowly but it was well worth the wait. The drink service was quick and also very delicous. There was live music playing and the gentleman singing was amazing. Great atmosphere and a good time. Look forward to visiting again.

Porschea W.

Yelp
This was our second time here but the first time, we just met some friends & got drinks since we just moved to the area but today, we did the dine-in with drinks. Our waitress today was the same waitress the first time we came and surprisingly, she remembered us! Her name is Arnesia, and she provided wonderful service, very attentive and very knowledgeable on the menu/drinks. 10/10 on her waitressing! We got seated shortly after we walked in. We got there at about 7:00p (on a Friday) and it was pretty spacious with plenty of seating. However, when we got ready to leave, which was around 8:15p, it got pretty busy. I'd suggest getting there around that time if you want to avoid the party crowd. Also, the night life here (from the first we came, which was on a Saturday) was GREAT! They had a live band and the energy was awesome. Plus, great music. Okay back to the dine-in experience - The drinks have been great both times and as requested! They really dress the Dos Equis here, which I love. We got the queso as an appetizer, my partner got the three cheese grilled cheese and added pepperoni & bacon and I got the fish & chips. IT WAS ALL SO GOOD! 10/10 on the food. I can't wait to come back and get some other dishes I saw on the menu. I would definitely recommend Mahoney's, and since we just moved to the area - we'll be here frequently as one of our new spots! Also, I uploaded photos of the digital menu (as of 2/18/22).

Sharon H.

Yelp
Fish and chips dish is great! Fish is fried at the perfect temp. The fish is light and flakey!

Lynn J.

Yelp
The service was great. Our waitress was on top of things. The food was really good. I had a salad with grilled chicken avocado black beans and corn. It was delicious. ...my husband had the same. Appetizers we had fried cheese and stuffed jalapeños. The fried cheese was good. The jalapeños were ok. The location of the restaurant is in a great place. I would recommend trying this place out. We will be going back

Dianne W.

Yelp
A great time. Food, service and atmosphere very nice. Will go back. Check out menu, location. What more could you adk for‍

Chad C.

Yelp
Friendly staff, great drink selection and killer fried fish and wings. Great location right on the waterway.

Mariah C.

Yelp
Horrible service, the staff was racist and the waiter was horrible. We sat for 30 minutes while the he served the whit people before us. When we did order he got my order wrong and said I was lying about why I ordered. When we didn't tip the manager came up to us and asked why we didn't tip and the manager started cussing us out. It was my first and last time at this place. I know many review won't get any notice but be aware.

Nick S.

Yelp
Found a new place to add to my Woodlands Happy Hour rotation! I came by with 2 other people on a Friday afternoon at 4:30. Our server (and all the servers we came in contact with) was very friendly and helpful. My favorite appetizers were the nachos ($6 on happy hour, a great deal) and the southwestern egg rolls (these were so good we ordered them twice). They also have $4 draft beers on happy hour, including a variety of local IPAs. The other people in our group were very impressed with the margaritas ($6 on happy hour). Mahoney's is in the lead for my top Waterway Happy Hour pick. The service and food quality is much better than other places in the area.

Abraham L.

Yelp
Great place to start your weekend or a concert in the pavilion, highly recommended Menu concerts have a great choices

Amanda G.

Yelp
Great atmosphere! Love the pretzels and specialty cocktails. I love that they have live music and I heard they have a great brunch option on the weekends. Everyone I have run into that works their always had a good personality even on crazy busy nights.

Daniel V.

Yelp
Only had a beer here and walked out and ate elsewhere. Came here to have linch, place was dead... maybe 5 other people in there at the time. Zero service. The bartender made it seem like a hassle and burden that I wanted to order drinks and asked for a food menu. Even sitting at the bar, 20 minutes passed and my food order was never taken, just left cash and walked out. Disappointed because the atmosphere inside seems cool. People recommend this place, not sure why...

Bailey C.

Yelp
Some of the best fish and chips I've had in Houston. The batter is light and not over powering. Seasoned perfectly and served with a light flavorful sauce and the traditional vinegar. Recommendation: dip the fish in the vinegar and then the ketchup. Perfecto! Jalapeño crisps are very good! Highly recommend. They're small enough that they won't fill you up before a meal.

Shannon Y.

Yelp
Great location. Friendly staff. Good cocktails. Awesome live music. Nice patio.

Lillie R.

Yelp
Great atmosphere, great food, stiff drinks Had the pleasure of having 2 fabulous bartenders, 1 of them was Mason and he was AWESOME! He was not the one serving us from the beginning, and when we received our food, my husbands steak was a little overdone, and he would not let him eat it, and insisted that he send it back for a fresh one to be made. He was also very personable and made us feel very welcomed.

C S.

Yelp
Great service and staff. Fun environment and the food is decent! Would recommend for a night out drinking and some apps.

Brooke P.

Yelp
Went for the drag show. DMed them on Facebook for a reservation weeks in advance. I ask if we should arrive super early and they said no worries because they don't use the stage and the ladies walk around and there are no "bad seats." Get there 45 minutes before start time and they put me and my group in a corner. The girls come to that corner for maybe 45 seconds and then walk back around the corner to the stage and perform in that area. Was super disappointed that I received false information. There are definitely bad seats so beware. The concert menu looked good but when the food came it was pretty terrible food. The drinks weren't even good! Disappointed all around and I'll never be back here. Glad I didn't have to pay to watch this show and could leave early. Rather had stayed home and not spent $50

Bill B.

Yelp
We ordered whiskey, mixed drinks and other things. The service was very fast and 100% accurate. The food was great... whatever it was great food ok BUT let me tell you why this place gets 5 stars. My cousin (after a long day of work) wanted some coffee. And he got some fresh brewed coffee in the middle of our party. They refilled his cup in the middle of the crowd. Wow. Five fucking stars. PS: The chimichurri steak is great

Jocelyn H.

Yelp
Everything was okay... I'm giving this place a honest 2 out of 5 for food. Eh the food was fresh their is no doubt, but the food was not flavorful. My table ordered the Philly cheese steak egg rolls and they weren't good at all. They tasted more like vegan egg rolls! The garlic parmesan wings were hideous. Whew lol! The best thing I (We) had was the tater tots. Now, I am giving the bar/restaurant a 5 for the great service provided and such a clean establishment. Nice place!
